Have you tried Mesmer yet?
I like the swimming around part, but could do without the combat part. And they could eliminate the breathing mask as part of the gear, that’s always a “waste” of a rune.
Sorry, that’s my opinion.
Make or buy a bunch of gold, then buy presents on the trading post.
Sounds like something from Monty Python!
Retweet! Retweet!
How exactly would Anet “remove a build?” Anet doesn’t dictate what gets played, players choose.
Why isn’t this in the PvP section?
GW1 had “tusked howlers” so maybe some were brought to Tyria from Kourna and released into the wild?
For me, with five accounts, the higher the cost the better. I looked at what I could make with the Coins, made some of them, and have sold off hundreds since, keeping a stack of 250 for future use. Last night the price was 84s. Too low. I didn’t sell any. No hurry.
That “mask” looks like an alien bug stuck to your face.

It’s best to think of the keys and chests as giving junk, then be surprised if you get something good. If you want a guaranteed key each week, then level a character to 10 and complete the level 10 story, which rewards a key.
The next week, move all the stuff you can off that character and/or salvage/sell bound items, then delete and do another level 10 character.
Otherwise, there are very few guaranteed keys in the game. Other story chapters, random drops, a daily login reward chest all might give a key.
And if your account does not have many skins unlocked, you are better off saving that guaranteed unlock until you do. Otherwise, like you saw, you can get some cheap skin that you could have found in game or bought on the trading post.
I agree. As it is, I rarely use them even after going to the trouble of collecting them. I think some of those Function Keys are in use, though. So better to have a little “quick bar” on the screen where we can put maybe five of whatever into – food, whistle, whatever.
I think if you’re focused on getting to 80 as fast as you can, it’ll always be a breeze. I don’t see doing some PvP and WvW as speeding that up terribly, and a new account won’t have the materials to craft with — unless they whip out their credit card, I suppose.
I agree with a previous poster — if that’s what someone wants to do, let them. In this game, there’s no penalty for it, since you can go to any zone and still enjoy it at max level. More so, I’d say, since you have gear and traits to play with.
And there’s no guarantee someone taking a slow route to 80 will be any more skilled than an insta-80. I would hope that an insta-80 having trouble would find a “slower” zone to build up some skills in, but in an instant gratification culture, who knows?
I would not guess “writer’s block” would be applicable at all. I’d say changes in staff/writers and changes in direction from the higher-ups would be more likely to impact the story.
That could account for some of the holes and unfinished storylines that exist now. One writer had in his/her mind how a story would go, but the current writers have no idea what was planned.
Add to that a change in focus from the designers, and a story that began has now been left to flounder.
Hopefully the main storyline won’t suffer from that.
This is about Charged Quartz, right? How does it have value other than to the one who charged it?

Cold weather? What’s that — oh, like under 70 degrees, right. (I live in Arizona)
I have one in inventory, only because I was awarded it in WvW this morning and haven’t used it on the toon I’m currently leveling.
I’m not opposed to them being used for more things, just don’t remove the level-up functionality from them, or make any added functionality “better” than a level-up, forcing me to choose how to use them. Or hoard them, in the case of best-use-indecision.
Edit: I am accumulating them on the alt accounts, where I do not add character slots and all five toons are level 80 already. I barely use their shards, so don’t need any more. So if a non-shard, non-XP, works-with-Core use was added, I’d be good with that.

At one time I was all three: 1 HoT account, 3 Core accounts, 1 FTP account. I’ve since upgraded the free account to a Core account. I really only wanted to see what it was like.
So there may be a big difference between “players” and “accounts.”
Start charging them now, so the next time you get the urge you will already have some. I started months ago and have plenty for ascended armor in all three weights, and just keep charging more.
But yeah, you’d think the other 1/day limits would be enough.
I’ve heard some painfully bad music in my time… so it could work!
The repetitive nature of combat may be problematic. If pressing 1 played “We Will Rock You” each time (or anything really), it would get old real quick.
Those ticket-things you can, for 50s each.
I’m in the same boat with my alt accounts. I’ve made a point of doing absolutely no upgrades to those accounts. Plus, for me at least, one account with access to everything is more than enough.
Can all these DPS Meter threads please be merged and sent to the Fractals, Dungeons, and Raids forum so we don’t have to see them any more? Since they’re the only ones who care?
Visa or mastercard?
By lore the three most prominent professions among asura are…
… unless you want to roleplay some sort of Inquest connection (double agent), and so choose thief or possibly Mesmer.
… unless you consider your character one of the countless protectors of all those idiot geniuses, and so choose warrior, guardian, or ranger.
“Asura” is an entire society, so anything works.
Sure, except… who would ever see it? :O
Edit: And what exactly is “TA Armor”?
Racial lore in no way restricts or suggests a profession.
How about a thief, since an asura has such great animations ( jumping, dodging, etc)?
I like outfits and have six to choose from. What others wear doesn’t affect my choices, other than seeing an outfit dyed a certain way and inspiring me to try new color combos. But, I do get tired of them, since you can only modify them slightly (colors, helm/no helm).
Outfits are great for leveling a toon, since you don’t need to worry about what you find along the way and remember to dye it to match — the outfit covers it all. I’m to the point where I look at a new outfit and say, “Oh, that’s nice,” but have no inclination to buy it. If I get it from an Unlock, great.
So I’d much rather have armor pieces that I can mix and match into looks I find appealing. I’d be okay if the decision to not make armor for the gem shop was reversed and they started offering more choices for purchase.
My hero. I only have 42.
You could check your dyes. The latest to be unlocked are highlighted. Long-shot.
That’s the only mechanic I know of. Anyone else?
As in, you used one already? When you used it, a pop-up for the unlocked item showed on the right, same as any unlock.
I’m not sure what you expect posting such a question.
Anyone with insider info that takes advantage, gets banned.
If someone thinks they have a hot new commodity, how likely are they to share that with the masses?
So definitely go with carrots.
I do like them and have both male and female toons wearing them. I just want more options.
Carrots. Definitely carrots.
Can a core account get viper’s gear? I didn’t think so? Is there a near-alternative?
Re: Monk, I wouldn’t mind a monk-ish elite specialization, so long as it included a good smite option. I was never really fond of the pressure put on a monk in GW1, so wouldn’t want to see that here. I also remember the days of being stuck “waiting for a monk” before progressing, so wouldn’t want to see that here. Different game, I know, but the memories remain.
OP, I think perhaps your focus is just misplaced. Apparently, Dungeons have no future, and for what we have, a DPS focus works, so why change anything? “Fractals are the new Dungeons” and those are likewise being completed with current profession offerings. So again, why change it?
If you brought this topic up pertaining to Raids and what you hope to see in future Raids and related elite specs, then perhaps it would be more pertinent?
That would be awesome. One challenge may be all the permutations of a skin. But I wish it was there when I was hunting for skins for that achievement. I’d still like it now.
I totally forgot about those 15% boosts and I have a bunch sitting in my bank!
I don’t normally blaze through levels like that. The first character was an engineer, and I was in a hurry to get to 80 to test the build I wanted to run. The second was likewise for a new build, but a Mesmer, and I find mesmers difficult at lower level. So chose to polish off both of those quickly.
Then I promptly bought a 22nd character slot and created another ranger.
Yes, two +10% “food” buffs, a celebration booster, and an XP booster (which includes a killstreak boost). Clearing zones, killing everything, harvesting everything. Many yellow critters or monsters off the beaten path give huge bonus XP. Doing events and hearts, of course. I don’t save tomes and writs, so use them as soon as I get them, and I think I got a few from login/dailies over the weekend.
I’m a certified hoarder, so low level crafting costs me virtually nothing and nets some bonus luck when I salvage what I’ve made. Between the two toons, I probably gained 30 levels that way.
And no, that all didn’t happen in an hour.
By level 80 you will have unlocked them all, so just keep going.
It really doesn’t take long, two of mine hit 80 on Saturday (from mid-60s and mid-40s). I don’t care for leveling a Mesmer, so used crafting for about 20 levels.
50s is better than nothing, but not much incentive to open a chest for. If/when I get a key on one of those accounts, I’ll hold onto it until a better auto-reward is offered.
I didn’t see any discussion on this yet. I assume every BL Chest has one now, regardless of whether the account has access to HoT content? So if I get a key on one of my alt-core-only accounts, these rewards are… well, not rewards. Junk?
Or is there an alt reward if the account doesn’t have HoT? Or a way to redeem them outside of the new content?
But with Megaservers, everyone plays on the same maps anyway.
I suggest instead finding an RP-focused guild. There is a “looking for…” forum here that may have an advertisement, or you can ask in chat.
Also, try googling for “gw2 rp” since there have been some lengthy discussions on this forum and I remember people commenting on some sort of website for GW2 RP.
It’s “free” if you buy the gems with in-game gold.
I’ve never used one. I have 41 characters and only one do I now think might have a better last name. For the same cost, I’m more inclined to make a new character with the desired name.
Can’t find a build? Just spend some time going through the wiki reading what each trait does, noting the ones with synergy, and especially making note of the ones that sound fun to you. Your desired weapon(s) and the heal/utility/elite skills should be factored in as well. Then distill that list down to the ones you can actually equip.
Then look through all the runes and sigils to find ones that fit and/or sound fun to you. Some may be locked behind content, but there are plenty to choose from.
Now, maybe it becomes a wish list because the armor is expensive or time-gated, or you have to collect 100 Pristine Spores first (whatever), but there, you have a build.
Now, if you have specific purposes in mind — group content — then paying attention to what people will accept is a consideration. But you could have a “dungeon set” and a “what I enjoy when running around PvE set.”
Googling things like “gw2 warrior greatsword build” may give you some ideas of things that work together to get you started. But don’t feel like you can only do what other people are doing.
I don’t mind trenchcoats, and choose that look for some of my numerous characters (41 currently). But I would like more non-coat options, both as outfits and armor. Choice is good, and we already have too many trenchcoat choices.
I hear that game controller + Xpadder + Action camera works.
This happened to me this morning in Kessex. Frustrating, to say the least.
I experienced this too, this morning. I was DC’d, then upon login had lost 5-10 minutes worth of progress exploring Kessex. Lost the map uncovered, iron harvested, etc. I was then DC’s again after maybe 5 minutes, but didn’t bother logging back in at that point.
Not fun. Thankfully I didn’t lose anything significant… oh, except that precursor. Yeah, could you get me that back please.
There’s a sticky for these, so best add it there it you want a Dev to see it.
