HamfastI love cats. I grew up with them, and can hardly remember a time when I didn’t have cats.
I’m sorry. I believe there must be someone somewhere that can offer therapy for that.

Unless the “crafted skills” were like the racial skills and more for effect than practical use, I can’t see that ever happening. And if they weren’t effective (aka, meta) then who would use them other than in RP situations?
And weapons, or anything player-created, how would Anet police them to keep profane/inappropriate items from entering the game? Sounds way too time intensive to monitor. Think millions of players vs. limited support staff.
(edited by DeanBB.4268)
Or you could, you know, write it down on a piece of paper. A sticky note stuck to the monitor? I have way more characters than nine, so made a spreadsheet that I update occasionally and print out, scribble on, then update the spreadsheet and start over.
How would one dual-wield a crossbow? Sure, 1 shot each, but then what?
You are, of course, assuming any new weapons types will ever be added. I have my doubts.
What percentage of GW players even look at the forums, let alone will see this post? It’s a nice idea, but trying to establish any kind of etiquette is fairly pointless.
Best advice: Lead by example.
Anet has stated that making armor is one of the hardest things they do. Consider that there are 3 armor classes and 5 races and male/female, which means 30 versions. Sounds like a lot of work for a “volunteer.”
And you think Anet would make its tools for such available to everyone? Doubtful.
There’s also that little nob on your speakers. Turning it to the left often helps.
I have 4 extra buttons on my Logitech mouse, so have jump and “reverse” on two of them. Still haven’t decided if I want to put anything on the other two.
Then I use a Nostromo n52 for most everything else. Don’t need the keyboard for normal game play.
Multiple accounts are good for all those “one time a day things,” which can include dailies, gathering your home nodes, festival loot, and whatever else you can think of. Key farming, anyone? I have two computers in the office, so it is easy for me to get my alt accounts into the home nodes.
I have 18 slots on my main, and 4 accounts of 5 each for alt accounts, for a total of 38 characters. I don’t do any upgrades to the alts – no gems whatsoever, strictly core Tyria. The alts feed loot into the main (materials, festival rewards, items to salvage, whatever) and get actually played sparingly. Right now I’m a little burned out on GW so have all toons but one parked at a chest and the one runs around doing dailies.
The biggest challenge is the time to even do the “daily routine” for each account. Plus if you do spend time on an alt account, that is time not being spent on the main, progressing that account. And the game definitely rewards a more focused approach. But whatever, I normally enjoy what I do.
Assassin’s Infusion: One-shot everything. Done!
PopeUrban.2578the whole reasoning behind making the core game free to play was to break down barriers between new players and established ones.
I would have to disagree. I see a FTP account as more of a trial account, “try before you buy,” which then encourages game sales.
Instinct.7513Update: I’ve also found a lot of new players have no idea where to go or what to do to access the new HoT maps since I don’t believe there is anything outside the Living World Season 2 elements that provide direction.
No, just set HoT as the story you want to play in your journal, and the way becomes clear. Still, that may not be intuitive.
You all do realize that no backpack has ever been dyed, right? So this shouldn’t be a surprise, right?
Support does refund some gem purchases. Worth a try.
Then again, how long does it take to make gold in this game? If they sell for ~70 silver that’s about 3 dyes just for doing one daily. You did not state whether you already have a number of dyes to choose from for coloring your gear, which in my mind is a better use for a dye than making gold. But if you already have a ton unlocked, then maybe selling is the better answer.
Me personally, I have multiple accounts with tons unlocked on my main, and rarely encounter a dye that is unlocked on all 5 accounts, so can’t remember the last time I sold one.
The last time was January. 20% is the normal discount. Still waiting… gems in hand — or wait, no, I bought more shared slots. Time to get another gems card!
That would be a nice feature. I added to my unlocked skins on occasion via scanning the TP for new ones, and it was a bother. If such a feature would have existed, I’d have finished that title much quicker (1000 skins unlocked, whatever title goes with it).
I’m sure I’m missing some still, so would still appreciate such a feature.
Will.9785I’ve just been wandering between 2 points back and forth capturing them.
Actually, that sounds like an ideal trip to WvW land to me.
I normally only go there for a daily when the PvE ones are lousy. There is always a queue for the top one, and sometimes for the next one, so I’m typically in EotM or one of the bottom two (Borderlands maps, right?)
Are you NA or EU? What time of day? I’ve been in early (3:00-4:00 AM PST) and late, and always see people.
Yes please. The more the merrier.
Don’t confuse “account bound” with “everyone can use them” without a swapping of tools involved.
Could you just gift him a Gems card instead?
13 is the new limit (plus the free one). For now. Until they need another cash-burst.
You can buy 13 and get 1 free one with HoT. I bought mine 5 at a time, but haven’t been in-game since this update to see the gem store.
Wait for 5 if they are not showing, it’s cheaper.
I unlocked that a while ago and have definitely noticed faster revives. In-combat… not so sure, multiple factors there.
I’d say the wiki is correct. Why do you doubt it?
My main account is from the start and what I focus on. I’ve added four core-only accounts along the way and I think it’s great. Yes, it does take time away from my main, but I enjoy it and am in no hurry to rush through things.
Besides what has already been stated, if I have time I take all accounts into my main’s home instance to collect the nodes, and do part/complete dailies depending on how long they take. When you get to festivals that have account limits, you can then get those rewards for each account (winterday presents, lucky envelopes). Basically anything with a “once per account” limit you can get multiples of.
I funnel all the non-account bound stuff into my main account and do some crafting/selling of account bound stuff for gold (like using spirit shards).
I also have two computers within reach, so it’s easy for me to take the alts into my home instance. Without that, not sure how it would work. But maybe that’s a non-issue for you.
So, barring your original account being more valuable than you suspect, I’d advise leaving the old core-only and adding a new account.
While I like the general idea, I would have to vote no. Wouldn’t it allow one to scout ahead, find the best route through an area, and then tackle it? Thus reducing the thrill and risk of exploration?
Perhaps it could only be offered to 100% map complete characters, which I realize isn’t what the OP is after. Therefore, nothing new to discover, and presumably they’ve already been there, done that, so this would give them a chance to go back and enjoy the scenery free from hassle. As previously posted, they would return to where they started once they exit “ghost mode.”
A joke? Don’t give up your day job.
Here is the gospel on battlemage according to all-powerful Google:
A battlemage is a special type of mage that focuses on more combat. A battlemage is different from Spellsword. A battlemage uses Heavy Armor, One-Handed weapons, and obviously Spells. While Spellswords focus on Light armor, sneak, One handed weapons and spells.
So excluding wearing an outfit (OP has not clarified their intent), that leaves Guardian or Revenant with sword (possibly axe or mace) and shield. Both wear heavy armor and wield a one-handed weapon and spells.
The OP hasn’t been back, and my ESP isn’t so effective through the web, so…
A word of caution though: each race’s early personal story chapter shows as a mastery point, but what the wiki is (poorly) trying to show is that any one of those chapters awards a point only once.
So if you do a chapter on a human, you get a point.
If you do that same chapter number on a charr, no point, you’ve already been awarded it.
So if you’ve completed your personal story, no points there for you. You do get the achievement points and whatever other rewards completing the chapter gives, though.
Ryou.2398Battlemage is obvious and no it cannot really be a number of things beyond a casting/melee hybrid.
In my mind it is not obvious, so why would I assume to understand what the OP was wanting? I typically think of a plate-wearing, magic-wielding character, but I had a leather-clad paladin in a game once. If heavy armor is key, that leaves me with three choices, and I don’t see any of the heavy armor classes fitting my ideal.
Or is it one who wields elemental magic? Carries a sword, but throws fireballs.
Or wields a greatsword and uses any kind of magic?
Now if the OP only wants the heavy plate look for a magic-user, then an outfit for an elementalist, mesmer, or necro could work.
All professions can be “casting/melee hybrids”, so technically any could fit someone’s ideal of a Battlemage.
And sorry, when I played D&D there was no “battlemage” so that must be something “new.”
Why make the charr different and give them horns instead of hair? And would they have both horns and antlers, or what?
I like your unique ideas, but don’t see it implemented. Very complex for little benefit.
For #3, could you make a personal guild and use the guild vault?
How does this impact you or anyone else? And what does the change to WvW have to do with this?
Chantry of Secrets. Takes forever!
You would have to first define what those labels mean to you. For example, “Monk” in GW1 was primarily a healer. “Battlemage” could bring any number of meanings.
I have two GW2 accounts linked to GW1 accounts, so have the rewards on those. Then I have three GW2 accounts not linked to GW1 and so no rewards. I don’t miss the rewards on those “GW2-only” accounts, so I don’t understand what the big deal is. There are plenty of GW2 skins available to customize your look with. And titles? Who really cares? GW2 throws plenty at you.
Is there something in particular you are after? Perhaps a better request is a BL ticket weapon or an outfit similar to what you are looking for?
Like Tekoneiric, I use a Nostromo n52 and couldn’t play without it.
I tried a controller with 3rd party software, got everything vital mapped, but not being used to a controller, found it too cumbersome. That was before action camera, etc, so maybe it is better now. But it’s more on me, if I was used to a controller, I think it would be a good way to play.
I’ve had a couple this weekend, and never do normally.
I’d be afraid the shiny VIP on your character’s name plate would become the next mandatory accessory to get into an elite group.
And if it didn’t give you anything special, then – as suggested – just buy gems each month. I’ve bought a couple gem cards in recent months with nothing to spend them on, hoping character slots would go on sale. It has been 6 months. So I’ve sent the money to Anet (however much they get less the retailer’s cut) without actually buying anything from the store, confident there will be plenty of shinies in the future. Besides, if my gems build up, I’m more likely to impulse buy.
So I vote no to VIP (or any kind of monthly subscription), and yes to Just Buy Gems.
They could just repackage that instance into something new. Same layout. No vendors. The pets remain (non-charmable), but can now be ridden. Like the original Diablo, anything you drop on the ground remains there. Thus, decorating comes to GW2.
They can sell it in the gem shop and call it Player Housing.
I like the confirmation since I’m an altaholic and always have a toon eager for a new level. But I am also in favor of a consume-all option.
I do agree with the laziness. Prime example: Pre’s for Shadow Behemoth. I don’t know how many times I’ve gotten to the swamp after finishing the Pre at the monastery and one or even both of the other pre’s haven’t been done. Yet there stand 50 toons doing nothing. Annoying.
In a game that is B2P and there is no real penalty for taking a break and not logging in for a while, I can only see player housing added to the Home Instance. Otherwise, “Playertown” would grow to fill an entire map and never go away, regardless of how empty it would be.
And if in your home instance, and nobody sees it but you (and those few you invite), then what purpose does it serve? I have yet to read any truly compelling purpose.
Maybe… attach a corral next to it to store all your unused mounts? :O
Is this a Free or Full account? F2P brings restrictions, such as having to get to a certain level before going into a city.
@Silmar
Love it! That is so perfect!
Have you tried just double-clicking on a ticket in your inventory? Does that give you access to all available sets?
I only ever look at the 1-ticket stuff, so am not sure.
Slap a portal to it and call it Player Housing. Bam! Two birds with one stone!
Maybe more like regret. I haven’t reached 5000 events yet, so if I ignore one, that’s one more to get later. But I’m patient.
Are you talking only world bosses? Cuz a lot of events don’t have a “5 minute warning” since they are activated by players, or part of a chain depending on another event finishing.
I would prefer more (all?) events to show on the mini and zone maps, though.
