Ellieanna.5027I’m level 80. I can go into 80 zones, do 80 events (even raids), wear max level gear, stat wise be the most effective in WvW. Why do I need presents for do this? Isn’t what I’m doing already presents?
It’s like PvE wants reward progression like wvw points or pvp points? (yes, I play all 3 so I’m certainly allowed to comment). PvE has the best access to things.
Perhaps drifting off track, but maybe not. So why are there rewards for PvP since pvpers already have max everything? Shouldn’t the reward be a well fought match? Sure, titles and shiny nameplates are understandable, but loot boxes? Tomes when everyone is max level? WvW has some expenses, so I can see that.
I think you miss the point we’re trying to make for rewards.
How about this. I’m a dog (a ginger dog, even). For 80 days I do a trick and get a reward. Sometimes, it is a dog treat, others a bit of bacon, but some kind of reward. Then I stop being rewarded.
Now I feel less than motivated to keep doing the trick (and more motivated to drag my bum across the carpet, but that’s neither here nor there). It’s not that I no longer get a specific dog treat, but that I get no reward at all after having learned that doing my trick lead to some sort of happiness afterwards.
It’s not about spirit shards, and I (and others) said that. Heck, a chest with random junk is still a reward. I did like someone’s post about “reward tracks,” that sounds kinda fun.
Belinda’s GS was available recently, like last month.
And it’s not really entitlement since:
1) The game originally rewarded post-80 levels with skill points, a commodity. This was taken away.
2) The 1-80 leveling brings a reward of some sort at each level, creating the expectation that leveling is rewarding.
I add my +1 to account-wide purchased recipes while leaving crafting character-based.
The last time they were on sale was indeed January and I bought some then. I have ~2000 gems set aside that I refuse to spend on anything else, waiting to buy 3 slots. I had really hoped they would go on sale when everything else did (was that April?), but no.
At least I still have some alts to level and haven’t started twitching yet.
I too am in favor of always receiving a reward for leveling up, even if it is a chest with random loot. Plus, with the 1-80 level up rewards, we are conditioned to expect a reward. Then nothing.
And I will add: Don’t forget the core accounts! Right now my alternate accounts, which don’t have HoT, get nothing for leveling a toon beyond 80. That leaves me with a real blah feeling when considering whether to jump in some event or take the time to rez an NPC. My core account with 5 level 80’s is even worse, they are the last to go do something like a world boss, since they get the least rewards — at least that’s the feeling.
This topic rises quite often, so I hope Anet is listening.
EphemeralWallaby.7643….but…but…but….they’ve got BUILT-IN hankies! After a long day of slaughtering centaurs and mordrem, you can take a break to blow your nose on your preferred guild!

For once, your signature fits perfectly with your post.
Maybe I missed it skimming through, but has the OP stated what they are after as far as HoM? Cuz it’s just a bunch of titles and skins, very few of which I ever use. I do like the Fellblade.
Seems like a lot of effort for so little gain, especially since they only had Prophecies.
Have you tried the shared inventory slots?
Alex Shatter.7956Not to sound pessimistic, but what kind of lifespan does Anet think this game has? It took them 3-4 years to release the first xpac, and the player base isn’t exactly picking up speed. If they plan on releasing new specs every expansion, then I doubt we’ll ever make it to 3 per class
Anet’s original plan was the Living World. They released quite a bit of content that way, then changed direction for HoT. So it’s not like they were building an expansion for years.
The reason I think they will add more classes is that Anet’s in a mode to provide content that meets with the approval of the masses, ie, value for the cost of the expansion, and adding professions certainly does that. I think they will “go overboard” on the next expansion to overcompensate for the HoT release and all the backlash it earned. Somewhat like that nice, fat update they just did, delivering much more than was anticipated, even though there were still things they hadn’t fixed yet.
Shortly after beginning any new game I turn off the music, regardless of how good it is. I get enough stimuli from the rest of the sounds – which I also play at low volume. Not to mention the explosion of action that comes at me in this game.
Sometimes I will have music or a baseball game playing while in GW, but not often.
FYI: The search “feature” on this forum doesn’t search. There’s a sticky here somewhere about how to use google to search the forum.
Boogiepop Void.6473I am so sick of constantly returning to Lion’s arch because my inventory is full.
I just thought I would point out that you can hop into PvP, do what you need with a merchant or storage or trader, then exit back to where you were in the world. No need to go to LA.
I’m guessing expansion 2 will be +1 profession heavy, medium, light, and +1 elite spec for each profession.
And no new race.
When you say to “hide the hearts” what does that mean, exactly? That you don’t see them? That they no longer count towards map completion?
Fenom.9457Branded chickens is actually a little bit of a serious question
Do we get a choice of flavors, or always BBQ?
Since the use of the word “profession” seems rather vague in this post, I’ll go with:
Professional Baseball Player
$25 million gold per season, with huge signing and performance bonuses. Sweet! Then they could sell a totally P2W corked bat in the gem store.
X T DI know, but since your are limited in how many shared inventory slots you can have, I think a separate set of slots where you equip tools would be nice.
I would like that, too. I tried putting my endless tools in the shared slots, but I was forever forgetting to swap them out before changing characters. Then I had to remember who had them last. Bother. I gave up.
I only have 1 extra mining tool. Everyone else buys the disposables, and I have 17 toons on my main account (FYI).
I think y’all are doing too many jumping puzzles! Just sit a while, the dizziness will go away… eventually.
You can use the shared slots for that now. You just have to manually swap when you log on/before you log off.
Inserting Babel Fish now
Nope, still not getting anything.
DaikonSamurai.6714I only have over 20-ish accounts that are mostly young
Off topic, but… Did I read that right? You have 20 accounts? Or characters? 20*5=100 potential characters, minimum. How do you even have time to log them in to harvest a node? Why 20?
I do think some sort of “family account” to use your term would be a good thing, but implementing it would be challenging. What happens when you’ve linked an account and the personal relationship fractures? What then?
If your linked “friend” does something that breaks the rules, are you an accomplice?
Exactly how far does this “family” or “friendship” linking carry?
I can see Anet not wanting to touch such things with a ten foot norn.
But the text doesn’t help, since people engage with gold sellers willingly. They are not even solicited — they seek them out. So the text will come from the seller and the buyer will agree. There is no security breech or hacking or any such thing happening. Thus the family status and text verification do not help.
… and a scar to prove it!
So your brother “GoldSellerOne” sends a text to your account when he sends you 100g. How does that help if Anet is flagged to ignore family accounts?
So if an account is flagged as family, it is safe from Anet banning/intervention? Why then would one not make their gold seller part of their family to protect the account?
I have 5 accounts and have sent 100g to the four alt to get the achievement. All still going fine.
Define “inactive.” And what would happen when one of those “inactives” logged in?
But no. There are endless name possibilities out there.
If by “heavy armor” you only mean appearances, then an Engineer with the appropriate Outfit could fit that bill. You could choose between rifle and a kit, say flamethrower, which is still a big gun.
Agreed. There are so many little details like this that help make it wonderful.
So what about Revenants and any future professions that don’t get to choose their skills? They are just SOL?
Buy an old core account cheap on Amazon (just make sure it is new). Bam! Starting over.
And if you sit, have it slobber you endlessly!
And it should make Darth Vader breathing/snorting sounds!
Don’t they just get timed out?
I poked at that JP in Malchor’s, saw that it was beyond my ability/frustration threshold, and moved on. I did the quick one (harvest?), then hopped into EotM and killed some guards, then did the four events. I’m sure it took me over an hour, but that’s just me. I stop to harvest nodes, hop into an event, run with the zerg in WvW a bit, etc.
EDIT I would love to see 6 PvE options each day. I venture into EotM when I have to, but would just as soon stay in the open PvE world.

I like the new functionality of these toys. But do they affect your “performance?” As in, are there animations every time you get on or off, like to stop to harvest a node, such that it actually slows you down a bit?
I assume they use whatever speed your character has, be it normal or +25%, but can you use buffs (mesmer signet, guardian staff 3, etc)?
OP: Thanks for the heads up! I’m like you, so will go looking the next time one comes up.
You can create a new one directly.
Re: Nodes
I think Home Instance nodes vs normal out-in-the-wild nodes are being considered.
Buy it off the trading post?
“unarmed combat or fists/claw weapons would be so awesome…”
Eh, just play an asura wielding small weapons like daggers. You won’t even see the weapons, so can imagine them to be anything. Dual wielded spoons, anyone?
…and they go great with my mount! :O
I’d just as soon they simply add another bag slot, rather than add more visual clutter. Or add another set of 5 shared slots.
Ah, I get it. I only dabble in EotM for dailies when needed, so didn’t realize there was a difference.
So what good are the WXP Boosters now if there is no XP to Boost?
If you are in a city, a mastery introduced with HoT also grants increased speed.
It’s just like culture. Ever notice how a particular word becomes popular? “Nice”, “Perfect”, “Gnarly” — these have all circulated through at least American culture to where you get sick of hearing them.
Or a fashion trend. Some celebrity wears socks ‘n’ Crocks, next you know, everyone wears socks ‘n’ Crocks.
Same thing here. Some warrior saw a Guardian with a torch and thought, hmm, I bet I could do that, and better, even. Bam! Berserkers are born.
Must everything be spelled out in-game?
It’s like pulling the lever on a slot machine. What are the odds of 7-7-7 coming up? That’s about the odds of your shield spitting out of the forge.
