I made a blonde human female. Pretty sure she’s the only one in the game.
But seriously, with a gazillion characters out there and only limited creation options, you really think it’s possible to be even somewhat unique?
Resurrect Lion’s Arch on Resurrection Day! Sweet!
I think you meant to say:
“My minions watch as I peel it with staff and then finish with daggers.”
At the very least the ungrateful buggers could /cheer when I kill something!
Hopefully someday Anet will fix minion AI.
Plus collect the candy corn, sprockets, crystals, lotus, etc. I also charge crystals while in there – at least on the main, don’t do any of that stuff on the alt accounts. They mostly feed stuff into the main.
The original GW did, so it might make its way into GW2 someday. Chocolate bunnies YUM!
No, I have two computers, so team up and take an alt in with the main.
And no tip expected! :O
For me the game is not so much about how much money I can accumulate, but the enjoyment of playing it. So I’d rather add the node to my home than sell it. Then I would enjoy harvesting that node every day. Three times, actually, since I have 2 alt accounts.
I wouldn’t be opposed to a more general tool, like what we see with Guild Wars Hall of Monuments, but would feel a little invasion of privacy if people could look through my Hero panel, so to speak.
What do you mean you don’t like my mini!
No idea what that is, never having set (virtual) foot inside WoW. I assume you could provide a link?
On sale? Where do you see that? I see nothing on guildwars2.com…
Meh, too much to read here, all looked to be saying about the same thing.
Is it not a choice to equip melee in both slots? So why complain? Isn’t that like saying I really love my level 10 armor but man I wish I’d quit getting hit so hard.
It’s all about choices. Glass cannon, lotsa damage, not so much defense. Tanky, not so much offense. All about choices.

Yeah, always subjective. While I love the idea of norn and charr, I don’t like the over-sized models and the bouncy charr animation makes me motion sick. So now I stick with mostly humans plus a few asura and sylvari.
I play all professions and the two I care for the least are Mesmer and Necromancer. If minions were viable, then I’d love to play necro. Those two are the last to be leveled up, and it’s happening slowly, so maybe once they reach 80 my opinion will change.
My favorites are Guardian > Engineer > Warrior = Ranger = Thief > Elementalist
Things do change once they are maxed. If you are rerolling before you get to 80, then you may be too hasty in deciding if they are good or not. Take BrooksP’s advice and don’t delete, just try another for a while, rinse and repeat. I don’t have a “main” (other than Guardian being the best equipped) and switch around constantly. That helps me to not get bored with one set of skills or play style.
Have you been harvesting nodes as you’ve run around (assuming PvE)? They are everywhere. Collect them all. Once you have a bunch, start discovering recipes.
Alternately, if you have the gold, go to gw2crafting.net and follow their directions for building cooking 0-400.
Quite a few heart vendors offer cooking ingredients for karma as well. Always check in after completing the heart to see, and buy a bunch. Again, assuming PvE and you really are interested in building up cooking.
Is that also true for the birthday “insta level 20” boosters? I’ve only ever had them in the bank.
A full set grants all bonuses listed. Cumulative.
Nope. Sometimes you can sell it – if a value shows at the bottom. And salvage, too, if I remember correctly. If no value shows, then collect 4 of the same rarity and toss them in the mystic forge.
Note that if you earn gold, you can exchange for gems in order to buy things off the store without real money.
And it shouldn’t be that hard. The item obviously has some sort of “CharacterID” assigned to it to know who it belongs to, so why not show “Soulbound to Joe Blow” rather than “Soulbound to another character”?
Carrots? Onions? Dangit! I’ve been stockpiling clams! :O
It doesn’t matter. If this is for roleplaying, do whatever you want. The choice at character selection is pointless now.
That wiki page does list the achievements — or am I missing something?
“Been There, Done That Achieve 100% map completion”
“Honorary Skritt Collect 51 types of junk items.”
I’d think you could navigate from there. Follow the links, poke around in the Hero/Achievements panel.
This site may help, too:
I have 3 accounts and two computers side-by-side to play on. So I take the alt accounts into my home instance to harvest the nodes. I suppose, as mentioned above, there are ways you can log in both at once on the same computer, but all I need to do is invite and enter the instance on the one.
But yeah, multiple login rewards, daily rewards, holiday time goodies (for the recent new years I had 2 accounts so could buy double the lucky envelopes), mailing back and forth, etc.
I put minimal effort into the alt accounts, no gems/upgrades, no crafting, and funnel as much stuff into the main as possible (gold, materials, skins, dye). At some point I’ll use them for other things as mentioned above (dungeons, crafting), but not yet. I have an open slot on one that I’ll use for key farming when I feel like it.
Have you looked here:
Never. It’s a journey, not a destination.
Agreed. Money spent on GW2 is much less than many other hobbies. And hours of entertainment/dollar spent is quite high. Plus, I’m a “one game at a time” kind of guy, so am not out buying other games while playing this one.
Skimmed through the list, didn’t see it:
For soulbound items in the bank, rather than displaying:
Soulbound to another character
instead show
Soulbound to Ima Noob (or whatever the actual character name is)
You obviously have some sort of CharacterID saved on the item, so why not substitute the character name?
Yes, I know I shouldn’t be dropping soulbound items into my bank, but I sometimes do by mistake, then it’s a bother figuring out who it belongs to.
Better yet… just do away with soulbound entirely and use account bound.
Nothing shows in your guild tab? I’ve never been without, so don’t know.
Anyone from the guild on your friends list?
Doesn’t sound so important. Move on to another?
True, but if he got all 29 while on sale, that’s still $290! (assuming American dollars, not sure about Europe/euro cost)
Yes, through the gem store you can expand crafting to 4 active for each character.
Similarly, you can expand bank storage to 1500 per material. Stacks just sitting in the bank are still limited to 250, though. Too bad.
There’s also a guy boasting of 30(!) accounts.
Yeah, finish the Queensdale area, then go thru the portal in Divinity to Lion’s Arch. You will find portals there to each racial city. Explore all the cities (or as much as you desire) for XP, then do their starting areas. After that you should have skill, levels, gear, etc to move on to more challenging things.
And just because you hit level 20 does not mean you have to do the next chapter of your story right then, it can wait until whenever you desire.
You can also explore crafting. Exploring all the starting areas and harvesting as you go will help you accumulate materials, rather than having to buy it.
I vote for all soulbound items to simply be account bound.
As far as PvP, you don’t have to level up. Just go to Heart of the Mists and you’re insta-80 insta-geared. If you can’t get there via the PvP button, you can via Lion’s Arch.
Or you could click Play.
I didn’t touch a thing, never even opened the Options yesterday, and everything seemed the same as prior to the update. I too get motion sick from games. Even the charr running does it for me. So by not fiddling with anything, I did not experience the queasiness.
So try like they say to return to default and turn off the shake, and see if that helps.
Well…it is the Chantry of SECRETS, after all. ;p
We had one in GW1 – clovers, green beer – and I’ve been hoping they’d add more little celebrations like it to GW2.
Still waiting.
Do you use any add-on’s? There was a post in the main forum about one of them interfering.
You can also expand active crafting disciplines to four via the gem store. Applies to all characters on the account.
Also, you can switch to another, thus “retiring” one of the active disciplines. Then if you want to switch back, just has a cost. Not something you’d want to do all the time, but the option is there.
But won’t you run into a tree? :O
… unless playing an Elementalist or Engineer, they only use one weapon set at a time. They can change weapons outside of combat, though.
I hope you have a huge jump drive! How are you getting it home?
hrasna, has your son tried sending anything back? That’s the issue.
Probably 40g+/-, mostly from multiple lucky golden trophies during the new years event. My account has about 25g now, with another 8g+/- in alt accounts. Woot!
I think the max gold you’ve found/received plays a role as well. I sent 5g to my new account and I’ve been able to send back 1g at a time to “pay it back.” Never tried sending a larger sum.
A very handy guide for crafting:
That’s standard. Windows won’t update the file size while it’s open. Just be patient.
Rangers are the only profession with pets.
Necromancers can raise minions. Others have summoning skills (thieves, elementals…)
Don’t worry about stats as you level up. Just use the best gear that drops for/awarded to you. When you get some traits, just read through them, since options are limited until later.
Basically: just enjoy the leveling process. Worry about builds/etc later.
Or be patient and an event will spawn, which usually results in completing the heart by itself.
Check out the wiki to see if it answers your questions — just type
/wiki
while in game, or there’s a link at the top of this page.
Discovery: throw something in, see what remains highlighted, drag it over as well. This may mean creating a chest piece first, which may mean refining materials first, plus needs the components to add.
Google “gw2 crafting” and you should get an awesome site (gw2crafting-or somesuch) that has recipes and guides for each.
