My guess is that hard mode would be just like GW1. Monsters are just stronger, more health, so just take longer to bring down. Otherwise, if Anet came up with new mechanics, why wouldn’t they apply them to the normal mode version as well?
But still, instanced hard mode with better rewards for completing would be a good thing.
The account I bought during the last sale has been limited to mailing or depositing 1g at a time. It is time-gated too, so I expect the restriction to ease now that it’s over a month old.
Hmm, I don’t think I’ve had any trouble mailing 5 items at a time. Materials, mostly, such as the things gathered in home node. I’ve also cleaned out that account’s material storage and dumped it into the guild bank to transfer without difficulty.
Maybe it is only the higher tier mats?
Dungeon, or other instanced content, sure some sort of hard mode is fine. Other than the idea of the game selecting which toon you will play. I play a character for a reason and the game should not dictate which I play. What if, even if level 80, their gear is not up to snuff? Traits still locked? Or I simply don’t want to play the assigned role?
In open world, you are rarely alone. How is that level 25 toon supposed to deal with the 3X Strength Potion enemy that has spawned because another open-world toon has hard-mode engaged? How is that fair? It’s bad enough when a swarm of level 80’s blow through early zones because of dailies.
And sorry, this is a discussion forum and you made a post. Expect opinions.
I take my alt accounts into my main’s home instance to gather the nodes. Works for me with 2 computers. I’ve heard you can run GW twice on one PC, but don’t need to so have not looked into how it is done.
Makes it easy to gather the daily nodes, since I have enough of each type.
Uh… we already have those. Anet calls them Charr.
I spend more time on my Guardian, but play all of them at least a bit. I have 10 toons on main account, 5 on second, 4 on third. So spreading out the love obviously limits time spent on any one.
I find after I’ve spent too much time on the Guardian, I need a break and switch to another profession. Helps from getting bored. Partly it depends on what I’m in the mood for, for example, if I feel like working on leveling one of the non-80s.
In short: I’m all over the place!
Why must people choose? You get five character slots (and can buy more, up to 64) so why don’t you make both? They don’t take that long to level up. You’ll understand the mechanics of each class you play that way, so for PvP will have better understanding of what you face.
+1 to all the above. More nodes for home!
Is there a question here? Yes, elementalist can be as you described. No real tanking / no holy trinity in this game, though.
The chest in Ashford, in the cave off Lake Feritas, will grant doubloons. No need to get through a jumping puzzle.
Agreed, add it to the laurel vendor.
So long as it is an option, sure why not.
Watchwork is the only one that gives a bonus — sprockets — so other than that, pick one you like or which complements a character (ie, necromancer).
If you wanna be an archer, that would be Ranger, Warrior, or Thief. Thief can use short bows, Warriors longbows, and Ranger can use both types of bows.
Every class uses magic.
Wear Runes of Melandru and get reduced condition duration, that’s about the same as “X% resistance.”
Or put a Sigil of Purity on your weapon for a chance to remove a condition every so often.
There are options, so if it really bugs you, seek them out.
I’m in Arizona, and pay $25 for a $25 gems card from either Target or Best Buy. I bought gems once through Anet and also paid a tax, so we must be similar to Texas.
It actually makes sense to pay the taxes when you spend the gift card instead of when you buy it. I’m thankful I get the full amount of gems when I use the card ankitten ot paying a tax/getting reduced gems when redeemed.
It’s all personal preference. Of those three, I enjoy warrior the most.
Anyway, you get five character slots, so make one of each (and two others) and try them out. Keep in mind how they play while leveling up will be different than once they are level 80 with full traits, skills, etc.
For the gear you acquire along the way, see if you can toss four of the same rarity into the mystic forge.
I agree, let us share gem shop items with others.
Feature packs are part of the normal game updates, no purchase required.
Living Story 1 is closed, 2 can be purchased and played.
Druids are part of HoT so are not part of the game yet. You could level a Ranger in anticipation of the Druid Specialization.
Yes, all can use it.
If it bothers me, I don’t show the helm. Besides, if Anet changed the hair to fit the hat, then people would complain that they lost their chosen hair style. Seems a lose-lose situation for the developer.
It’s a game. You just have to ignore certain unrealistic portions of it. How do you explain being able to walk through other characters? How is your asura not squished when a norn walks over him?
Just ignore it and move on.
I’m partial to the black and gold version. No idea which dyes would be best for those materials or which you have.
Needs more hair. Or a hat. Otherwise, agree, that’s a norn. Wait… unless it’s just a human standing really close to the camera. Can you lift your right foot to see if you squished an asura? Then we’d know for sure!
I did log into GW1 the other day, but that was just to get the GWAMM title to register in GW2. Lots of fond memories of standing in that old Guild Hall, let me tell you!
Moot point, like others said, since it will never happen. With all the heroes you can run it solo anyway.
While I don’t specifically know how hard it is to programmatically improve minion AI… the monsters don’t have any difficulty targeting me, so why can’t the <insert AI ally here — minion, wolf, hound, pet…> target whatever I’m targeting?
Nope. If you’re still having trouble, contact support.
Sexy… charr… hrm…
Yeah no, can’t really envision it.
How would this work with the 5 guild membership? If I’m in Guild A, and they are part of a 5-guild alliance, then I can “join” any of those 5 guilds? Likewise for Guild B. So I could participate in 25 guilds? :O
Also, depending on how big of a hurry you are in, HoT is supposed to bring some sort of revision to the trait system. So if you’ve been wanting to level another character, or whatever, you could wait to see what the expansion may bring.
Or a combination of the two — unlock the ones you really want, then wait for the rest.
Some ideas (which you may have already completed):
- Finish personal story
- Finish exploring all the zones
- Look through achievements and work towards completing those of interest (Uncanny Canner, maybe?)
- Look on the wiki for armor or weapons, then see how to acquire them. That can lead you to collecting materials, max crafting disciplines, etc.
- Unlock traits
You get the idea. Tons of stuff to do in this game just on the PvE side.
Hey, just want to point out that here in the Helping section we often see new players, who may not understand all the GW2 lingo. Heck, I still have to work through some of it.
“According to your description, I would say a s/d or d/p thief, or meditation guardian fits that style more. Ham bow warrior also kinda fits.”
Does a newbie understand things like “s/d” or “d/p” or “ham bow”? Better to spell them out and/or link to builds?
The Ham Bow must be one of those legendaries, like the bow that shoots unicorns, right?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but does a pin for guild vault access solve anything? What happens when someone forgets their pin? Anet will assign a new one, which gets emailed to the person.
If an account is hacked, don’t the hackers already have access to email as well? So won’t they then get the reassigned pin from Anet?
Well, I swear that isn’t the case with mine, but obviously am confused. Maybe that’s what I thought, so never tried to assign traits. I have a toon created back at the start who is now about level kitten will have to check tonight.
I believe for legacy characters it is actually those that reached level 30 (or was it 31?) and thus unlocked traits, have all but a few unlocked. If your character hadn’t reached level 30 when they made the change to the system, they don’t have them unlocked.
“I do not believe people are so stupid as to craft superior sigils to raise their crafting rank/or XP, Although I will concede that people do craft inefficiently the other less worthless items for that purpose.”
Ah, but if it is listed on gw2craft.net, then people will craft it. It’s easier to just follow the listed instructions and get to 400 than to figure it out on your own, or figure out if there is something else you can craft instead of what’s listed.
Correction: GW does celebrate Easter (bunnies, eggs…), but GW2 has not yet. Still hoping.
There is supposedly an overhaul to the trait system on the way. If you are not in a big hurry, then wait. Maybe level up another toon? Or go unlock the “doable” ones and hold off on the rest?
That’s my strategy at the moment.
Account-wide “acquired recipes” = yes.
Crafting in general account-wide = no.
I don’t do PvP, so can only direct you to browse the sub-forums for each profession.
New Q’s:
6) I think all but Necro are acceptable.
7) No more Champs in starter areas.
8) http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki
Note that the metas assume level 80, all traits, gear, food, etc, so keep that in mind if leveling a toon. Also, you have 5 slots, so why delete an old toon? Just make a new one.
Snickers. Except I’m allergic to nuts.
As in, if you collect a bunch do they form a stack in inventory? Yes – assuming the exact same rune.
As in, if you put the same rune in different pieces of armor, do you gain all those listed benefits? Yes. Six of the same Superior grant all six bonuses, cumulative.
If you are asking something else, an actual post would be helpful.
Updates…best to check the wiki. There was a big update last year and the expansion is coming out soon (define soon?) so watch for Heart of Thorns (“HoT”) news.
Berserker (and focus on DPS in general) is still meta, but that doesn’t mean you only have that option — depending on what you want to do.
Meta builds:
I haven’t used either, but look up Autohotkey and X-Mouse to see if they do what you want.
I agree, change the previous/all picks to pop a bonus material, like watchwork does.
If you go to the wiki, armor page, there are links at the top-right showing armor available per race per type (light, etc). Wander through there to see what looks good to you.
I like the idea, but am not sure Anet would go for sharing account bound items. After all, they want you to buy goodies for each account to keep the cash flowing.
