I don’t PvP, but have played every day with no crashes.
Not to mention, how would Anet sort out support complaints when someone snaps a screenshot of a name to report? I wouldn’t want an infraction for something someone with my same character name did. Nor would I want the hassle of proving my innocence.
Yup, way more trouble than it’s worth.
I have extras sitting in the bank I can send you… oh, wait, nevermind, they are account bound…
You mean buying Gems cards? Where I live, they are cheaper since there is no tax on them compared to buying gems in-game.
And is it really a hassle to activate (aka punch in the card number) in-game? Where else are you going to spend them other than in-game?
Man, if I had one of those I could get ready for work so much faster! :O
But yeah, not good.
I like it. Gives a purpose for level-up when it is otherwise “stuck.” Make it core Tyria so all can use it.
I’ve been using a Nostromo n52 forever — all the way through Gw1 up to now in GW2. I guess it’s the precursor to these newer devices. For normal game play I don’t need the keyboard at all. My mouse has jump and reverse on two extra buttons.
I do whatever I feel like doing at the time, excluding PvP and WvW. No meta. Lots of toons, multiple accounts, lots of time spent harvesting. Weeknights, maybe have time to log everyone in to farm whatever they are parked next to and do the daily on the main account if it isn’t too much bother.
Weekends, I usually have some goals in mind but if I don’t get there, I still had fun along the way.
I’m an alt-a-holic so always have use for Tomes. Still waiting for character slots to go on sale this month.
I’ve bought 25-packs of keys a few times now when they’ve been on sale. Originally, I would get tickets to get skins to sell. Now I use the skins myself. I think I have 3 full tickets + scraps in the bank, waiting for something new and shiny.
I get a bunch of junk (aka, boosters, canisters, etc) but also add to my dye and mini collections. If I already have them, I send them on to an alt account.
And just in case… Right-click on the item to get to “delete.”
You guys really get that many? I had one gold seller PM the other night, none since, and think I see maybe 2 a week. I do visit LA, DR, and HotM regularly.
If an account is hacked and used by gold sellers, then this won’t help. Personally, I see it more of a problem than a solution. Isn’t there enough elitism BS already?
You can join multiple guilds and see them in chat. Doesn’t that accomplish this? Other than the using guild storage, which I think most guilds would have a problem with — unless you only mean deposit, and not withdraw anything. Hmm, even then, allowing non-guildies to see what’s in your storage could lead to trouble.
I like the idea of more racial distinction, but Anet would have to balance each racial skill enough to make selecting your race of no consequence, as it is now. Otherwise, if Asurans make the best Elementalists, then every Elementalist is Asuran, and so on. Which would stink.
So best not to mess with it.
That said, I do occasionally equip a racial skill for the flavor.
So… how would something like dual swords + dual pistols work, exactly? Or even a greatsword + staff both stuck to your back? Or are you then forced to never “put away” the active weapon set?
I don’t know that I like this. Unless ANet changes where everything is kept. So daggers are stuck across your chest, pistols holstered lower down the leg so they don’t interfere with swords… wait, no, still not liking it.
Underworld.
Fissure of Woe.
Two good places to start.
I agree, even if week-long/minor, we need more.
You’d still have to get out of combat, though.
But good idea. How is it implemented? How is a set designated? If you rearrange your inventory, do you lose the “set” designation?
Better yet: A system that saves traits, skills, armor and weapons, then lets you reload that set. If a piece is missing, it just isn’t loaded.
New in the gem store: Selfie Stick!
@OP.
No. Probably never will. I’d rather add a slot and keep the birthday rewards. I can always park them somewhere for harvesting/opening a chest.
Hint:
Everything looks to be going on sale this month, so I anticipate Character Slots will too. I have some gems set aside for that.
Agreed. And like JAFW I too grabbed the staff.
Cobalt? Blue flaming sword – is that what you’re talking about?
Remember when Kennedy was shot? Yeah, that’s when I was born. Don’t remember it. (52)
It’s a convenience item. Add as many nodes as you can, plus the communing shard, etc., and the daily trip in is very much worth it. If you can take in multiple accounts, it’s just that much more valuable.
Yup. I bought a boxed pre-HoT GW2 off Amazon for something like $15 and it is the core game. I applied that key to a FTP account I’d created to see how FTP compared to the purchased game, and that turned it into a normal account, with no HoT.
The game felt sluggish so I turned down video options to see if that helped, and wouldn’t you know that it’s always been sluggish for me compared to how it runs now, and that affected how well I could navigate jumps. I haven’t had time to try out something challenging like a JP, but hope to fit one in this weekend to see how I do.
What about the highlander GS? That looks decent on my human guardian.
You have at least 5 character slots, so why not make each of those to try them out? Everyone has different preferences, so what anyone else recommends may not fit your style.
Of those three, personally I prefer Thief with Elementalist a close second. Mesmer rank among my least favorite — but that’s just me.
Are these no longer available via Laurel Merchants? That’s where I got them.
I can certainly relate, Lisa. I too avoid jumping puzzles and even vistas can be frustrating. I finally pushed on and did the first HoT story/mission to get gliding unlocked, only to discover I had to level it up in an HoT zone. So I just wandered around killing things, harvesting, exploring, (avoiding tougher mobs) and got in on a couple of group events. That was enough to get the basic gliding unlocked.
On to Pact (whatever) which gets unlocked in the core maps!
I like the idea, and I miss all the stuff from GW1 – pirates, chocolate bunnies, shamrocks, etc. Throw in some themed drops like that to add to the occasion.
A quick check on the GW1 wiki shows 13 “special events” which range from drops like the bunnies to full-blown Wintersday. Plus there was Nicholas the Traveller, and daily/weekly events like Bounties.
It just seems like there is room to do so much more!
In addition, make recipes account-wide rather than tied to a character. I’m not referring to the recipes you discover through crafting, but rather those you get via karma or other sources.
We are all on the “megaserver” now, so your home world is meaningless. If you’re seeing fewer players running around, that’s because there are that few players where you’re at.
Looks like there’s no hurry for an immediate decision. Before you could even get to HoT you have to go through a bunch of story stuff, plus get to level 80, so I’d say just keep playing to see how you like the current changes. Once you get there, maybe the price will drop (I don’t know how much you play or how quickly you advance).
I think many guilds are open to newbs, I know ours is, so don’t be afraid to join one being advertised. It doesn’t cost anything, you can join up to five, and can quit without any loss – assuming you don’t join one that has any stupid requirements.
Remember that GW is a global game. I had a guildie who was unable to get the name he wanted and nobody could see anything offensive in it to be banned, but it was. So some other culture or language could be a factor.
Or maybe a GM liked the name so much he stole it!
I take it you don’t participate in such zergs. So how then does it ruin your game play?
I vote for unrestricted mail between guildmates.
I’ve seen this a few times recently as well. Even going between cities, I’ll exit with the character in Divinity but find him back in LA when I log back in. That’s not as annoying as losing your spot out in the wilds, though.
You used to have to pay to get armor fixed. They removed that cost. Why would they add it back? How does this truly improve the game?
I’d say it’s fine as-is. The penalty is having to find an anvil. Good enuf.
Moa named K F C.
Devourer named Squish Me.
Pig named Breakfast.
Please add the option to the envelopes vendor to purchase 16 at once, rather than having to click Buy and OK for every single envelope. Much like the option at Wintersday to purchase all 15 rolls of wrapping paper at once (or whatever that was).
Why click 32 times when 2 will work?
I use a basic Logitech with an extra 4 buttons (only actually use 2 of those) with most of my functions mapped to a Nostromo n52 that I’ve had for years – early in GW1, so that’s 10+ years. There are similar products now (did Logitech buy them out?) and I’d find a replacement if the thing ever breaks.
I use it for every game – Civilization, Wizardry, whatever.
Love it!
This happened to me also. If I remember correctly, I unloaded everything out of the troublesome bag, then removed the bag from the bag slot. Switched toons or logged out. Returned to that toon and put the bag back, being sure it was open before I closed inventory. Problem solved – at least for me.
Hmm, perhaps I swapped that bag slot with another, not so sure, so try that too if it still causes trouble.
Is this for role playing? Otherwise, makes no difference. For RP, you can adapt the simple story into a larger background for your character.
I like the idea of the rich necromancer.
No. Why should a name be taken away from one and given to another? This is not a subscription game, so one can come and go as desired.
Consider how many millions of accounts there are. Multiple that by five. That is roughly the minimum number of names in use. On my main account I have 15 characters and am sure there are many other accounts with over 5 characters, so that number only goes up from there.
I agree, seeing the XP go to waste bothers me. Plus, it changes in-game decisions. Why bother to stop and rez a downed NPC, since the XP is no incentive?
Some sort of fill-the-bar reward would be excellent. Make it random with some carrot out there, like a mini or whatnot.
Ships to me means either things that sail on the seas or the action of transporting goods. I have no idea what your use of “ships” means to be able to contribute anything, and “Anurai Noctaris is a ship with Logan” doesn’t clue me in.
For $18 on Amazon you could get a full (non-HOT) version of the game and apply that code to your ftp account. Seems a better use of cash, at least to me.
I like both. I level a lot of alts, so it’s nice to have an outfit to hide the mishmash armor they wear until they get to 80 and can pick a final look. I’ve bought two outfits from the store (plus a free one), but no armor sets yet, so I guess that indicates my preference.
I’m happy with the in-game armor choices so far, but am sure there will come a time when I’ll go looking through the store for new armor (non-outfit) options.
I got my five last night. Love it! Well worth the cost for me. I only have 1 silver and two copper o’matics, and have gotten good use out of them, so don’t feel cheated.
Now, time to get the Permanent Airship Pass in the gem store! * nudge nudge *
I recently created a FTP account to try it out, see if it was something I could recommend to others. Then I bought the original GW2 off Amazon for ~$16 and applied that code to the FTP account, making it a normal core GW2 account.
So you could buy the game and have it shipped to them, or shipped to you and then send them the code.
That assumes you’re happy with the core game.
