People can measure it by how their servers community has changed in the last three months idk about most of the servers, but I can say the server I’m on Anvil Rock just gets worse and worse everyday, we have very few guilds left. Most left for different games and every time a new one is released or wvw does not improve our poor server loses more coverage. I even feel sorry who ever we get paired with because all we have left is handful commanders, a Guild Havoc squad here and there, and maybe a handful of pugs in NA time. Our server tries its best to help out, but we have almost no one left to even effect the outcome of a match anymore.
Anvil rock now has a new Ts, a guild to keep in contact with each other and I see 10 or some random at players on almost every night, which is close to or more than we had pre link. Frozen commands every so often leading for both servers. I used to command pre links and this is seriously not really worse than what we used to see imo.

Our primary motivation for avoiding running another tournament, is that at the end of every tournament we saw a permanent dip in the number of players playing WvW. Presumably this was due to players burning themselves out during the tournament.
However, we can still run a poll to see if the majority of the community wants another 4 week tournament, even if it might be bad for the long term WvW population numbers. Though even if ‘running another tournament’ won the poll, we’d probably hold off until we get the scoring updates in.

NA prime had at least 2-4 wvw streams last night, I could have set up mine but I was in the same squad as one of the other guys. There’s at least one EU prime streamer and one SEA player who streams sometimes. The only problem for that being a resource is most run with a delay making it hard to communicate directly with viewers.
What wvw needs is a dedicated neutral delayed broadcast on reset and a few other nights a week done through some sort of spectator mode where they could hop around the action and show both the tight end of the fights and the map wide consequences from them.
I just see dirty hands exploiting anything of that calibre tho.

Shout out to Yb from ar. The ts was a constant gong show of good times, random build, fight or seige lessons. Map chats were generally great outside the odd salt. I had fun with Yb!

Commanders, please stop building siege right on top of each other in a way that makes it extremely easy for one disrupter to disable it all. While I am at it, rams do not need to be right next to each other and right up against the gate. Set them back a bit and they are effectively immune from door trebs.
I didn’t see it as much in T1 but T3/T4 servers apparently have not learned. I guess all that PvD in the lower tiers has created some bad habits. All weekend I have seen commanders dropping catas right on top of each other only to watch one player constantly disrupting attacks.
It was just too painful to watch after it happened at four different objectives one right after another with a single commander. On the third one the commander tripled down and built a third cata right next to the two that were disabled and under AC fire.
that’s because lower tier players don’t rely on siege as a crutch so we never know where to place them properly

Roamers gank zerglings all the time, often with more mobile builds a zergling doesn’t stand a chance against. Often roamers end up in groups and 3v1ing people who arre built for larger fights.
If 20 people you just trolled for 2 hours find you, you’re getting hunted.

I tend to avoid pugging with guilds that have a closed off feel. It doesn’t feel welcoming and it doesn’t feel fun. The attitude of some WvW vets towards pugs are also pretty disgusting. Especially from those so-called “fight” guilds.
Hearing in TS “let the pugs die to cover our retreat” from a leet guild really torqued me off. The ego with a segment of the WvW population can really put people off.
This attitude that guild groups just see randoms as cannon fodder is hilarious. Most drivers I knew took a bit of pride in keeping people alive. If you were 4 of 25 not in ts then yeah, the non ts folk become bottom of the chain when kittens get heavy.

It should just form one ring, which changes in size for 1-5 people caught in it, up to a size slightly large than a static field at 5 people. This way it’s still a nice large cc field but at the same time you can’t loose 6+ stacks of stab if you accidentally wander into that kitten.

I’ve seen some greasy engineers with hammer/ toolkit / elixer s and god knows what else, they can troll hard for a bit. Just my 2c.

Second edit : I think the dbl could be great if some if the same tower to keep dynamics were introduced, ground leveled and gimmicky pve (barricades ect) removed.
I may be missing the mark on this but I always felt a roaming group on a bl used to be the most effective tool in forcing the enemy zergs to move. And it hardly had to do with the amount of time running around building things.
TL;DR Alpine was simply better because if roamers on south home bl got feisty enough, you’re team looses a wp, that you can use. End of story.
The problem is objective to objective sieging was eliminated while also putting towers on their own “high points” (for the most part). As in it’s both harder to seige towers from a hill or over a sneaky wall or something while at the same time eliminating the possibility for people who take towers to siege a keep/wp.
So most of the towers are able to counter siege most catas placed against them, requiring ninja speed to take(where the time complaints and supply cost complains steam from), forcing you to avoid the most exciting part of roaming, which for me at least, was the fights.
Then if you take a spawn tower, it has absolutely 0 consequence to the defending team.
PPT players used to have to defend the bottom half of a borderland, now they really don’t, there’s no way to treb troll keeps (wps) with lesser numbers from pretty much 100% safety and defenders don’t even have a wp there, people aren’t attacking and people aren’t defending. EVEN if people were attacking, the only reason to defend is because the defenders don’t want the attackers to have a wp. There’s no reason to really want to grip home bl keeps.
So there’s less people running around picking at your stuff trying to take it away from you, so there’s less action and less people playing.
That’s how I see it anyways. Also barricades are straight up sign that says “roamers and small groups are not allowed here” they make me angry and salty and hate anet.
EDIT also a 5-10 man during prime time offsetting a bay attack with a n/e tower cap to trebbing garrison was extremely powerful in changing the map dynamics, I miss that.

I have no love for the DBL. It is not beautiful at all, it is not only ugly, but bland. The buildings are atrocious, placement of just about everything is awful
I don’t even think you need to go about wondering if this map was designed for pvp to think it’s ugly.
It is honestly just a big mess once you hit a tower out of any spawn.
Just from a view perspective I’d call it “massive” or “huge” it does have “wide scope” feel to it when you look around. An intense view tho, is as far as I’d compliment it.
The problem with a nice looking map though, you can’t be 100+ ft underground or down in a canyon to look at it. Maybe that’s just my problem though, I feel like I’m in a hole/choke , avoiding a hole/choke or going in/out of holes and chokes pretty much all the time which just spoils any chance of this map having a nice appearance to me.

I recently seen both enemies and allies go down and then get up, walk away in a straight line and either just keep going until fall damage or wall stopped them, as if lagging. I think eventually, after walking maybe 2-3k units the enemies go back down again.
When the ally went down the lord we were fighting never moved and kept attacking the spot he had gone down in until they ran off the wall and died off fall damage. When I asked them if they were hacking they were clueless.
I also only started noticing this over the last 2ish months, since I transferred to t1.
I’m not sure if this is a lag this from large amount of players fighting or moving around the map or some sort of hack to get u hack into the group or just something that happened in a patch around the same time I transferred.

I’m not really sure if the idea is that bad.
It should probably be lower than 5 minutes but the new keeps are like 3-4 times larger than the old ones which makes looking everywhere insanely time consuming and annoying. (And that is being said by someone who always went through the entire keeps to look out for mesmers)Something like marked for 20-30 seconds and revealed for 2-3 minutes could work out I think. That way you can have an initial idea of where he is hiding and after that it comes all down to his skill of running and hiding.
This sounds kinda balanced, I could live with it.

I must be the only one who thinks various servers/tiers/guilds stacking for ppt or fights just builds another layer of wvw.
Honestly if I had it my way server transfers would be insanely cheap to encourage people to move around and fight various servers and types of play, but that would be exploited probably.

1- Remove all non player controlled debuffs/effects, remove popping up walls. cripple fields, a large amount of the lava and wind things from around air and fire, remove the effects in lords rooms (turrets, lava, wind, lightning, walls ect) We came to wvw not do a fractal, im sorry.
2- Rewards tracks
3- The map adjustments I thought I hear about, less chokes, more flat land, rescaling cliffs, move towers within striking range of keeps if possible.
4- remove barricades from low level towers
5- Bi-weekly map rotations.

Professions and wvw and spvp are a mess, players held on long enough. I forsee many moving on even after they see what is in the update as well.
I feel like Tom Hanks in the middle of the ocean yelling for wilson when I enter or think about wvw. A few years ago this was gunna be super awesome business, 3 years later the hope floats away.

Wvw is what I played the game for. I’ve been in serious wvw guilds and run as a pug. These days mostly I pug (on TS), I don’t know, I just have more fun running autonomously. The invis option for commander tags would be great!
I know how frustrating it is when you’re running as a guild and begin collecting random players that don’t seem to understand or care that they’re following a guild group. Sometimes two guilds will be working together and want to pop a tag so they can easily spot each other’s location. I actually don’t know how much of this happens today, this is from back when we had borderlands that people wanted to go to.
As a pug, I don’t want to impose on a guild group or run across a map to check out the guild tags of the people on the pin.
Its sad, its like people in this forum are having to explain guilds and wvw to game developers. Guilds by their nature are exclusive, if you want to avoid having people excluded from taking part in activities occurring on the map, be it in wvw or pve, then you ought to get rid of guilds as well.
This lack of understanding does not bode well for a wvw update. I’ve pretty much stopped playing except for the odd foray into wvw usually ending in disappointment and misty watercolour memories of the good ole days. I’m still creeping on the forums in hopes that someone cracks a window in the anet offices and the fresh air gets them thinking clearly again, but alas…recycled air….

Organized groups are already excluding other players by running targeted without tag.
Adding an invisible tag won’t exclude anymore players, just allows the groups to actually see what their teammates state is.
Bad excuse not to implement.
Also it now appears it’s not impossible for you guys to add this as your “choosing” not to do it, so please just add it.

They should only be able to be made out of the corpses of our fallen enemies force the peasants to fight for our amusement. Link them indisputably with WvW achievements and foreever bring back the games true endgame once and for all.

Literally stacking the body count highest, preferably into the shape of a hall.

How to include gvg in wvw.
Design a system that recognizes when opposing groups of 2+ of guild only players are within x range of each other. Each player is given a notification “would you like to participate in a scored skirmish?” or something like that.
If everyone within range hits yes, then a skirmish is started. A ring, like the ones that pop up for camps, maybe 5.5k units across (maybe it changes on group size?). You are given a time limit to start and the fight continues until one side has no players alive in the ring. Scoring based off of numbers, speed and maybe some other things.
It’s probably a pipe dream but hey, That’s how I would implement gvg into wvw.

Like other people have said, there’s other places for them to learn things, but they shouldn’t be scared of jumping into the ebg zerg for an hour or so imo.
As for is it everyone who’s like this, idk? I’m trying to ignore people like that, but the negative ppl are everywhere.

If i find a guildless uppie on my side, he gets to spend at least 10 min to an hour with me, ill just type kitten at them and run around either roaming or find them a zerg. If they say something like, i bought gw2 for wvw, I literally tell them everything until they get sick of me. I definately encourage them to go places where leveling is more efficient, but also encourage them to spend time in wvw as an uppie to kind of get the feel for it, I’m not pushing some complete noob away, Ima show them what being on a team and kitten is.
I treat them how I feel I would have liked to be treated walking into this game.
I mostly jus try and treat all of everyone from my server like that, but noobs get the full kittening treatment!

I like the ppk idea for one simple reason.
Things will change, if even for only a little bit.
I know there’s all sorts of assumptions to be made about what kind of players will do what when they have this pressure on them but meh.
I’m excited to see what happens when it’s implemented if at all.

I’ve tried looking around but really have gotten nowhere, and gw2wvw.net doesn’t have a matchup forum for them either. Can’t find a server list and I don’t know any of the guilds there.

I am having no issues. They can’t fix what is kittenly happens to some players. Please check your connection, the number of hops to the game server, any problems in between AND if your ISP is not throttling. All of this can cause issues.
Not saying there isn’t a problem with the servers but if the servers were bad ALL players would have the issue.
There are threads everywhere about it. It seems to happen at certain times though which is why you are not seeing it. If I play from 9am to 5pm its fine. From 5pm onwards it is unplayable. This is every day since patch…
On another note, there’s been more than one situation where anet buggered something with the servers and only certain players had problems. So you can’t say everyone would be feeling this issue, anet couldn’t even say that…….

I’d rather see the 2v1 thing exercised more, honestly.
Last season, there were a couple obvious 2v1’s and a few smaller ones, and although the people on the receiving end weren’t to happy, “the obviously predictable results of the season” didn’t come off kitten predictable.
Which is pretty much the excitement of a tourney, sure u have the pain of the match, but the game also has to do with those points u gain at the end of the week, and, seeing your team win through unbelievable odds, the upsets, the glory.
Working in a 2v1 is also fun, knowing your time zone could get the coordination together with another server and break the 3rd servers wp’s, honestly, that’s pretty fun, specially when a time zone over, the tables get turned and suddenly your own team cries 2v1 (if they were only there an hour ago).
The obvious and unfortunate thing about 2v1 is point hounding off the weakest server.
What we need is a really good motivation to see the top server loose, instead of, my server needs to win. We need a direct motivation to see the green map split up the middle, blue and red.
There was a really good discussion once upon a time about re-weighing points based upon yours and enemy ranking, I think that could be a good place to start.

Why do you think you earned a reward for being away?
Why do you think you earned a reward, if you do not inform yourself about the conditions of it ahead of time?
Why do you think you earn a reward for being to lazy or busy to take it?
I think, if you aren’t able or willing to spend 6min (1 for taking the reward, 5 to make 5 events) per week in WvW you are did not earned a reward.

Im currently t3, last year around this time, I was on a different server around t4/t5.
They feel very similar, the population is very close in most time zones, overall we have less roamers.
I did the research expecting a massive gap between where my server now is vs where i was then.
In ranks thats anywhere from 3-6 ranks improved, tiers, just 1-2, on an extremely close population.
Idk it feels kind of like that’s the population loss I expected, but only if we end up seeing the bleeding stop or slow significantly, otherwise, idk, bad news i guess.

I really like this idea. Pretty much any slightly better chance at getting better loot without any risk is a nice little bonus in my eyes.

The more I look at this idea, the more terrible it is tbh.
It totally screws the possibility of a spontaneous large fight, like when a much smaller group is supporting a large pug zerg, it also completely destroys any kind of large lords room fight without suddenly everyone having 50% less health.
Multi group combat is definitely way tighter than 1500 units most of the time, it would screw it right up. Even when spread out regroups happen close together, people would be fluctuating stats like nobodies business, we’d probably experience stat lag with these servers tbh.
Idk, i can’t see something like relative stats ever working.
