No time machine. Make the events/zones/dungeons more permanent (dungeons return as fractals or permanent with a token vendor). Keep the story instances and achievements exclusive to the relevant living story.

well, for 11 vs 11, 30 vs 30, 25 vs 25, there is WvW for that.
sPvP supports 10 vs 10 max at the moment but those are only on custom servers and so far i noticed that no one plays in those 10 vs 10 games.
but for 8 vs 8 games i still see lots of 8 vs 8 games room going on daily.
this tells me that there are people who enjoy casual 8 vs 8 games on a daily basics.
8 vs 8 may be terrible for you, but i am sure there are many more who enjoy it.

Introduction of Fractals caused me to quit the game… for 6 months. I’m only back here because I got sick of the phishing emails looking to take over and abuse/sell my account.
That said- I’m reading the same grievances I read 6 months ago. That alone almost makes me grateful- obviously I haven’t missed anything. SSDD
I keep looking for something to indicate Anet wants to become something other than a Wow derivative. Today they are no different than Wow, Rift, Aion, etc… lump them all together.

The problem i see is that people get a placebo effect that if they are not wearing ascended, they are as good as closed to naked compared to those who have it. 5% of 1,000 is 50 in a game where the max damage is in the range of 7-9k it is really insignificant.
Max damage is 40k+ with Warrior 100-blades, the final hit alone hits for 18k for me, and I’m not even full berserker. If you consider a berserker stat:
An ascended has 20+ power, 10+ precision and some extra crit damage more than an exotic.
12 ascended have 240+ power, 120+ precision and 10%+ crit damageThis is really significant.

40k for a full hundred blades cycle, I wrote that clear. Yes, also in WvW, though one player won’t ever stand still and let a warrior go about him, if he would, the warrior will make a neat corpse of him.
well, what should people do is, make the victim exhaust all stun breakers, then immobilize and the warrior moves in to slice up the victim.

Team fortress 2, they also have reachable armor/content, its not hard to get, in my opinion, and they also have very editable custom rooms, that’s one of the big things that keep people on other games like Minecraft too, so I would venture to say your comparison is apples and oranges.
Team Fortress 2 both have massive inflows of community created content every single day, whether it be weapons, skins, maps, so there is ALWAYS something to work towards and look forward to.
They’re two of the few instances of horizontal progression done right.
GW2’s pace of content expansion in the cosmetics department is laughable in comparison.

I hope ANet considered that achievement points rewarded by an achievement should be related to the time invested, while working on the next patch. It’s silly to think that you can get more AP from burning paper dragons and such than from killing 250k people in wvw…

well i play everyday though casually. say 1 – 3 hours per night.
so far, still manageable though.
1 month allows more breathing space, more time off from guild wars 2 to do other things, play other games etc.
other wise, it is a dash to finish the time limited achievements as fast as possible, so, not to miss out the opportunity to do them when the event is over.
Dragon bash has been opened for much longer than 2 weeks. Updates every 2 weeks doesn’t mean content lasting 2 weeks.
but aetherblades content only last 2 weeks.
Dragon Bash hasn’t vanished just because the Aetherblades have appeared.
but aether blades will vanish soon.
it only last around 14 days.
2 weeks is fine if more of the added contents are permanent.

While 5 points per day may seem insignificant, realize this: 5 points is the same amount awarded for crafting a legendary weapon, for buying a full set of cultural armor for 100g, or for killing 500,000 dolyaks in WvW.
None of that mattered previously, achievement points were a meaningless number. Once you start rewarding that meaningless number.. now the imbalances matter.
simple fix really.
INCREASE the achievement points gained from challenges that TAKES A LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT to achieve!
now everyone is happy!
Don’t list one of if not the easiest to get as an example. Take a kittene like Yak Slapper. That one will probably never be hit at least not for years to come and even then it will take some hard core yak killing to get. 1 million yaks… wowsa!

100k karma = 23 dailies. That’s actually quite a bit less than the cheapest ascended gear bought for laurels.
23 dailies is 23 laurels. You can buy amulets for either 30 laurels or 20 laurels and 250 badges. Seems comparable to me. If you think that such a small difference is an outrage, though, change it to 125k karma.
Of course, laurel prices of ascended eq are ridiculously high, but that’s a matter for separate discussion.

Here is an example: Currently the top players have between 8000-10000 points. Almost half of those points come from dailies and monthlies. In another 6 months, 70% of their points will come from dailies and monthlies. This will continue to spiral out of control.
