Not sure if you’re being sarcastic but every game mode needs new blood or it just dies a slow death. Taking WvW as an example, not having new pugs/guilds/players drains the playerbase as hardcore/vets move on, the same will happen in PvP.
There aren’t even enough players/teams for those ESL weekly matches, the last thing PvP needs is a ‘we dont need those players’ mentality.
you need “real” new blood and not cry babies.

it has a long activation time and obvious animation,
learn to dodge / block / evade it.
It doesn’t help much to resize map. If your teammate is sitting exactly on point, you can’t see them.
hmmm true.
say Cynz, what do you think about adding red blue profession icons under the home mid far icons at the top?
eh, by the way, are you sapphire or ruby already? as your MMR is quite high, you should be there already i think.
Good ide. That sounds like a ok thing to do
aye thanks for the feedback and support!
Make your minimap bigger! It is perfect as it is and you can already see who is there what and what class they are against.
hmmm yes i should do that. but the mini map can be quite cluttered at times. especially if mesmers are throwing illusions around.
having a 2nd option to show red blue team profession icons under the home mid far icons would be a nice addition too.
perhaps the gains and loss of MMR needs to be updated in the next season.
for example, if losing to a team with higher MMR, the MMR should not reduce by too much, just a bit, and vice versa perhaps.
bump for feed back !
which division ? emerald ?
whats his id ?
share it here so we dont run into him too!
thanks!
btw average players can get together, form a casual team, then go stomp newer players and rise back up from the ashes of defeat to be victorious!
1. what if new players start off with zero or way below average MMR instead of average MMR?
2. this is fine really, only 3 outcomes, you versus a team with higher, lower or similar MMR.
form a team, not necessarily need voice team.
i play casually with friends, we use in game text chat.
not as fast as voice chat but it will do.
seems like everyone forgot what Gaile said a month ago.
“Beginning with Season 2, matchmaking for Ranked matches will use your placement in your current league division as your primary matchmaking consideration and pair you against players who are placed in the same point range as you, regardless of the skill level (MMR) of the other people in that point range.
While we’ll be using divisions to match you against your immediate opponents, we’ll still use your MMR to place you on teams with similarly skilled players (from your division point range) to help ensure that you’re not forced to play with individuals that are of a much higher or lower skill than you.
Ultimately, this means that the new matchmaking changes will make PvP Leagues much more reflective of your actual skill, and each division will be progressively more difficult to compete in."

noobs will get placed together with noobs and get rekted

i lost 5 games in a row, i’m not complaining.the better players will graduate from amber faster then the rest of us can duke it out at one another until we all graduate from amber.
So actually to clarify something and please correct me if I’m misreading. The way the system currently works is it only considers MMR on your own team and not the full 10 players. So let’s say there’s 10 people queuing within an acceptable division range, 5 players are around 800 MMR and the other 5 are around 1000 MMR. Due to the fact that the system only considers making a team of 5 of similar MMR players at a time, the 5 800 MMR players will be put on one team and the 5 1000 MMR players will be on the other team. So what you get is high skilled players on 1 team and less skilled players on the other. Of course the result is the 800 MMR team getting stomped.
The result is you will never get a balanced team vs. balanced team like a team of 2 1500 MMR players + 3 800 MMR players vs. 2 1500 MMR players + 3 800 MMR players.
the season 2 ranked match making system takes 5 ppl and places them in a group, according to their MMR.
then the system pits this team against another team with the pip range of plus seven and minus seven. does not consider the other team’s MMR.
so, basically,
the other team’s MMR could be
1. similar to yours
2. higher than yours
3. lower than yours
that’s about it.
I experienced the opposite. Till the second half of emerald most matches were extremely onesided (both wins and defeats). But now most of my matches in sapphire are fairly balanced and i often see player on the enemy team which were on my team before and vice versa, which is an indicator for similar MMR on both sides.
good to know! thanks for sharing this!
hmmm no feed back ?
A hero that goes down the defensive lane instead of the offensive one.
this!
and Gwen.
Rurik, yes.
Trahearne too.
Scarlet maybe?
its fine.
some professions can remove it very easily.
So they made a decision to allow poor players to lose pretty much every game for more than a week? That’s a good way to keep the player’s coming.
failure is the mother of success
true pvp players will rise out of the ashes of defeat and emerge victorious!
for season 3,
please consider:
put blue red team profession icons under the home mid far icons at the top of the screen under the team scores.
for example,
[ Quarry ] …………………………… [ Graveyard ] …………………………… X [ Waterfall ] X
Mes Ele ……………………………… Necro Necro Guard ……………………………..
{War} …………………………………. {Engi}{Engi}{Ranger} ………………………….. {Thief}
the icons on the mini map is kinda hard to read, this way, we know there’s a 2 v 1 at quarry while a 3 v 3 at graveyard and waterfall is being decapped but we dunno who’s there unless that decapper is on your team.
this might help newer players to rotate better? help them to go to places to help out win the team fights.
discuss!

they said because as a four stats amulet it had 1050 toughness and that is a big no on in their new rule book of pvp amulets.
But letting classes or major sections of classes unplayable due to the obscene power of some others is a big yes, yes.
well that’s their balancing philosophy for us
Thank you Sir, will thei reduce it and bring it back or just let it removed?
i think its removed for now.
they may or may not introduce new amulets in the next season XD
they said because as a four stats amulet it had 1050 toughness and that is a big no on in their new rule book of pvp amulets.
its really simple. really.
your team win, your MMR goes up.
your team lose, your MMR goes down.
just as simple as that.
so get good and win more.
its working as intended.
if Anet wanted big majority of the games work as; good team vs noob team, yes, its working as intended.
not really.
there will be 3 outcomes for the current match making
your team’s overall MMR will be:
1. similar to opponent’s team MMR
2. higher than opponent’s team MMR
3. lower than opponent’s team MMR
its working as intended.
anyway, they fixed the MMR tanking issue in season 1.
however, some people still does not seem to realize this and may wanna continue to tank games, well, particularly amber, emerald and to some extend, sapphire division players.
because the more you lose, the lower your MMR goes, the harder your future battles will be.
Koss
Gwen
Devona
I can’t even make it to tier 2.. the matchmaking has been very extremist for me. Hardly had truly balanced matches
still in 0/20 to 3/20 emerald ?
what professions / builds you running ?
So the more matches you lose the harder opponents you will face? Is there a thread explaining this?
here u go
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/stop-saying-MMR-is-not-used/6002778
You are getting teamed with people close to your mmr too so them being amber shouldn’t matter to much.
I didn’t think MMR was even taken into consideration anymore.
It is for making a team. That’s why there are all the one sided matches the better players are all being put on one team. .
So…..It doesn’t seem possible to move up in the ranks with that kind of algorithm. That system just sounds awful, and I don’t even want to play anymore at this point.
How exactly are we supposed to rank up with this system?
1. get better
2. form a team with players that can win most 1v1 encounters, not die easily in team fights and can rotate well.
will dip your MMR making future matches possibly easier…
wrong.
future matches confirmed harder due to your lowered MMR.
you get team mates based on your current MMR.
for once, they fixed the MMR tanking issue.
basically get yourself into 8/20 emerald if you wish to avoid getting amber players.
in emerald your pips are saved at
4/20
8/20
12/20
16/20
you get players from plus 7 and minus 7 pips from your current pips.
bump
as people still think MMR is not used.
you get players from +7 and -7 off your current pip score.
crusader amulet was really fine.
i demand a replacement !
maybe
1050 power
1050 toughness
560 precision
560 ferocitycall it templar amulet perhaps. a variant of marauder and paladin
While I agree crusader was fine, your suggestion is certainly not in line with their plan (no toughness main in 4-stats amulets). The obvious replacement for crusader would be
1050 power
1050 ferocity
560 healing power
560 toughnesswhich is the same stat but putting the defensive ones as “minor”.
hmmm sounds good.
we can call it templar amulet then.
more crit damage for professions that can increase their critical chance to hit without relying too much on precision
Templar’s Amulet
1050 Power
1050 Ferocity
560 Healing Power
560 Toughness
So when will this double moa mesmer madness nerfed? 1 Moa is already too OP enough and can be a game changer. But two moas in a half decent mesmer hand is way too OP.
nothing wrong with it.
working as intended.

having more reapers does not mean an automatic win.
we had 3 reapers in my last game versus the other team with 2 dragon hunter, 1 scrapper, 1 reaper, 1 thief i think.
we got rekt hard
well, the thing with PvP is that, if they cannot take 10-15 losses then they are not fit for pvp.
true PvP players will keep on playing and will become better eventually.
if you kept on losing and
you feel like are stuck in amber
it probably means your MMR is low / average and is grouped together with similar players.
don’t duo queue with a friend, you can’t carry 3 other low MMR players
or
tri queue with 2 friends, the 2 low MMR players might feed the other team
instead, try quad queuing with 3 other friends, you may get to find duo queues plus three solo queuers. i had two games with a friend, we tried duo queuing for 2 games. our 2nd game, we got matched with a 4 man group plus one solo queuer. our group is duo queue (me and my friend) plus three other solo queuers.
you can carry that one low MMR player.
don’t try to full 5 man queue since you will never fight 5 solo queuers. unless all 5 of you are very good and certain can rekt others easily.
but of course, you, yourself and all your three other friends need to be able to win most 1 v 1 battles and not die too quickly in team fights. and will need to be able to rotate properly of course.
try finding for potential team members in those 1 v 1 custom arenas.
seems like everyone forgot what Gaile said a month ago.

This is what ppl have been asking for. A full reset after the season. And with the removal of mmr it really is a full reset leading to lobsided matches each and every game.
If youre below average like op you will lose a lot the first few days. But it will improve every week.
hi hi Locuz !
not really.MMR is still there.
just that MMR is not used to find opponents anymore.the system finds 5 solo q players within similar pip range and similar MMR and groups them together.
then pits them against another team of similar pip range. however, it does not take the other team’s MMR into consideration.
the other team could have higher, same or lower MMR players. but similar division and pips.
Mmr is no longer used Deimos. Matchmaking is purely based on divisions. With the division reset this basicly means everyone from absolute beginners till top tier are considered equals.
So most matches right now are a toss up and based on luck. Ppl with long losing streaks however know they are below avg
no, its still used!
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/pvp-league-season-two-changes/
We’ll search for other players that fall within your pip range (which can extend outside of your division depending on where you’re currently placed) and pair you up with teammates who have a similar skill level to your own. We’ll then find you opponents within that same pip range and pair them against you, regardless of their skill level.
MMR is still used to group players together into a team of 5.
they said before so themselves.
confirmed by evan:

“It should be easier since your teammates will be of more similar skill instead of the team teams having player skill split between them. Imagine matchmaking as if it were trying to make a bunch of 1v1 matches by picking 5 players as similar as possible to fight another set of 5 similar players.”

you can’t right click to invite a person into a party anymore while inside a pvp room.
the score board after the end of the match still shows who is partied together with who though.
i think this may help a bit with the pre match morale.
for example, if we can check before the match.
“omg omg they are a 5 man team”
“they are a 4 + 1”
“they are a 3 + 2”
“okay they have a duo queue”
etc
If everyone always gets terrible team mates it stands to reason that everyone has been someone else’s terrible team mate, just something to ponder.
no. season 2 match making puts good players together in the same team, average players together in the same team.
good players together, of course they will rekt other not so good players.
average players together, of course they will get rekt by better players.
working as intended.
the better players will climb faster.
working as intended.
wait for the better players to graduate from amber.
and so i was right.
see the amount of qq of low mmr players in the forums XD

this is working as intended, if your MMR is average or low, expect to be steam rolled by groups (solo q players shoved into parties of 5 by the system) of higher MMR players.
i only played 3 games, all 3 loses.
expected since my MMR is low.
