that’s working as intended since your MMR is high, you get put together with 4 other players with high MMR.

then match making just fetch 5 other amber players to fight against your high MMR amber team.

As we’ve mentioned previously, Ranked matchmaking in PvP during season two will now be based primarily on your current division placement and a predetermined “pip range” that extends from that spot. We’ll search for other players that fall within your pip range (which can extend outside of your division depending on where you’re currently placed) and pair you up with teammates who have a similar skill level to your own. We’ll then find you opponents within that same pip range and pair them against you, regardless of their skill level.

Mmr has nothing to do with current matchmaking. It depends on your current division, and a pip search range for people in your range.

That being said, even if you are playing something “meta”, that does not necessarily mean you are playing it well or great. For example, I could have the best reaper build off (insert build website), but that does not mean i can play it to its intended purposes since I’m not good at it.

Not saying you’re bad, its just a general statement on “meta” builds. For the most part, just know that all players are currently at the same “MMR”, good or bad, due to matchmaking changes in Ranked S2.

means one team ’s MMR will always be higher than the other.

the new match making system puts all winners on one team and all losers on one team before the match even begin.

i don’t think it takes MMR into account tbh, based on players i was facing/had on my team today

well perhaps all the 10 players in your games are of similar or almost same MMR ?
my example only applies if the MMR of all 10 players are quite different.

for example,
match making system grabs 10 amber players of similar pip range.
but all 10 players have say, MMR of 1000

so the system shoves them into teams of 2
red – blue
1000 1000
1000 1000
1000 1000
1000 1000
1000 1000

but say if 10 players have different MMR range, say
1500 1200 1300 1250 1350 1000 1100 850 950 1050

the system will match them like this
red – blue
1500 1100
1350 1050
1300 1000
1250 0950
1200 0850

i remember they say in the blog post or news post saying that they will match players of similar MMR together in a same team.

Hmmm, this seems a bit odd as both crusader and vigilant are pretty uncommon and not that powerful, though I have had some success with a crusader rifle scrapper.

That said, amulets with too much toughness and no vitality are very niche – they are usually bad for ele, necro, guardian and thief. These amulets are even harder to use due to the other stat choices – condi duration but no condi damage, ferocity but no precision.

If the intent is to move towards more widely applicable ones over time, that’s a good change and the recently added amulets did that quite well. (Though you could simply remove barbarian, knight and possibly carrion now due to them being outclassed)

carrion might be outclassed by mercenary but knight could be still useful.
as for barbarian, low health professions may wanna try that some time.

A) yes, there will be steamrolls at start

B) after a while you will settle AND STAY in your appropriate league.

Season 1 was basically “GATHER 130 POINTS” . Yes i mean points, as it was same points that came when the leaderboards switched from mmr to points.
It was shown, that the system GENERATES POINTS with close -0 matches, similiar to the casino zero number takes away in roulette.

POINTS PER GAME. This value was positive for all players, even the nooby low winrate nr1 turret engie. It was 0.25 for average and went above 0.50 for the pro league players.
Tldr
Hellseth needed 200 games to reach legend, i average needed 400x AND any baddie would reach it after enough games.

This new system should, like you said,
PRODUCE BARRIER MATCHUPS that you should not overcome unless you are better and need to be in higher division.
The good players will climb up fast, it is question how spread out their climb will be, and how high B and C will climb after As made room for them.

Tldr
Good teams will have massive winstreak at start, then it will be clear win clear loss and they will stay in ruby for example. They might climb into diamond once all good diamonds become legendary etc.

well, hopefully i can reach ruby again in season 2.

most of the time, i only play like 1 or 3 ranked games per day during season 1, only when i have more time to spare i play a bit more games and i’m happy to have reached ruby.

in season 2, all matches will be either blowouts or steamrolls

there will be no close games 499 – 500 at all, unless the MMR of all 10 players are the same.

for example,
10 amber players solo queued, say their MMR is
for example if say 1000 is default average MMR

1000 1500
1010 1200
0900 1030
0800 1050
1020 1060

previously, match making would shuffle the players like this:

red – blue
1200 1500
1030 0900
1050 0800
1060 1000
1020 1010

so the 1500 guy would felt like he had to carry blue team.

however, new match making would shuffle the teams like this:

red – blue
1000 1500
1010 1200
0900 1030
0800 1050
1020 1060

as players of similar MMR would be placed in the same team together.

so each match is supposed to be a clear cut win or lose, steamrolls or blowouts.
there will be no even games unless all 10 solo queue players have exact same MMR.

Does anyone actually use Crusader’s Amulet? Seems like the only ones that can are those that can generate high Crit chance without Precision (not many can) as well as have good Healing power scaling.

So, basically Blighter’s Boon/Decimate Defenses Reapers? Or Spite/Blood/Soul Reaping core Necros?

rangers with remorseless can make use of them to a certain degree.
and there are runes / sigils which grant guaranteed critical hits.

well, warriors could make use of crusader amulet, but warrior is not meta.

one of my casual 5 man team lost to a full 1+1+1+1+1 solo team 499 – 500 and they earned 3 pips for that.

at least we don’t have to worry about losing 2 or 3 pips for a loss now.

1. remove the above 75% health threshold requirement, buff it:
“remove 1 condition every 1 second.”

2. remove the on hit requirement, fix it:
“remove 1 condition every 1 second if your health is above 75%.”

there, everyone is happy.

given how fast conditions are applied, i think the first option is okay.
if no health threshold requirement and 1 condition removed per 1 second is too powerful, perhaps maybe
“remove 1 condition every 3 seconds.”

well it depends on the daily profession win (except elementalist, mesmer, thief)

nowadays i’m most playing
- playing reaper / scrapper
- practicing druid / dragon hunter
- messing around with shiro glint herald
- messing around with core warrior
- sometimes pistol / pistol daredevil

been quite a while since i played mesmer
i can’t play elementalist properly since day -3 (pre order 3 days pre release)

^ while i appreciate that rousing resilience has received some buffs, it still does not remove conditions and activates open using a stun breaker. furthermore, the healing power multiplier is way too low for a grand master trait.

it should be like this instead:

i think there is not enough chill in pvp, at the moment, only a few professions can spam it real good. i think we should let more professions be able to apply chill, via weapon sigils.

Every Quarter the team gathers at ANET’s office to blindly pick certain classes that will be OP and some that will be UP in the following quarter’s meta!

Will this be your turn to shine and laugh at your opponents or will this be your turn to fall consistently to your enemies?

You never know until patch rolls out! But the QQ will always be there!

deswai it is better to play all nine professions instead of just sticking to one.

It would work great on a Blighter’s Boon build, but there is already a lot of boon spamming. Maybe a sigil with vigor on a 3s CD would be ok though, and a great pick for a necro.

Also, there is a sigil that grants quickness, but I don’t remember if it’s on crit or on damage dealt.

that’s on swap with a cool down of 9 seconds, and requires a weapon swap or shroud enter / exit i guess. i would appreciate something with a shorter cool down.

and yes i would want another sigil to go with blighters boon besides sigil of strength.

He was talking Superior Sigil of Rage, which gives Quickness on-crit. Only reason it’s never used is because it’s a 30 second cooldown.

aaah all right.
yeah the 30 s recharge makes it useless.
