Transmuting A Legendary

Really Anet has said that legendaries will always remain BiS. Some people think that transmuted ones will not be upgraded, but I think they will because some people transmuted theirs before they ever knew about possible upgrades. People who have transmuted put in just as much work to get the item as someone who didn’t why make that sort of split.

Remove WvW From Map Completion

In before the WvW players start crying about all the PvE stuff they have to do to get their Legendaries.

But that’s the thing legendaries are PvE why should those of us that don’t really enjoy the zerg fest that is WvW have to go there to complete our PvE end game content, Spvp players don’t have to do pve to get cultural gear, their end game content. I feel WvWer’s should have their own hard to get time consuming end game skins that only requires wvw, and the the gift of battle and the needed WvW map completion be removed from the legendary process.

Working on my 3rd and 4th legendary now and I have to do map completion on a necro because its all I have with 100% wvw. The horrors…

Yeah It is rather annoying to have to wait for your toon to come to a complete stop on the ground before breaking stun. Maybe the game lacks the capacity for an animation when breaking stuns in mid air. >.>
Either way it kind of punishes those with quick reflexes.

I actually disagree with some stuff, I feel the aura is perfect, the foot steps I have actually never noticed because I have frostfang aswell, still I would doubt that if it was given a “Real” footprint others in main hand would over right it very easily.

@facepunch, I play axe/mace as well, having frostfang and the corrupted mace this is rather true it is very much the same type of glow. But frostfang is pretty special in its own right and I don’t regret it at all.
I am too going for sunrise atm, them kohomal’il or whatever it is lol but I do an axe/mace gs rotation combo, it puts out a lot more damage than just axe/mace, but thats off topic.

How about just REMOVE a condition upon gaining a bar WITHOUT the use of utilities, that means only in battle…it’s extremely easy for warriors to gain adrenaline atm and that trait would allow both adrenaline surge to EASILY overpower mending and for signet of fury to easily destroy signet of stamina i terms of utility. That would make warriors extremely overpowered. They would have been vulnerable to conditions before but now they’re nearly completely completely immune to them based on how fast they gain adrenaline and how short the cooldowns on those abilities are.

Also warriors have no business converting conditions to boons.

Keep in mind this is a suggestion from a guardian player, I still won’t have trouble with warriors because my only conditions when facing them is burn and immobilize, and the immobilize is very very short anyways + broken out of with any movement skill, so it doesn’t affect my pvp against warriors either way. They’re still gonna get smashed.

I suppose we will forget warhorn converting conditions.

Legendary - not the stats you want

jwaz, I don’t mean to speak for Nachtz, but I’m not sure he/she would disagree with you about what ANet should or should not do, only what they will or will not do. The fact that transmuted Twilights and Sunrises still have purple text, but cannot be used to create Eternity suggests that the purple text is kept as an aesthetic, but the item is no longer a true Twilight or Sunrise.
When ANet releases Ascended weapons and run a script to convert the stats on all existing Legendary weapons to match the new BiS stats, your transmuted Legendaries may very well not get recognized and upgraded. Again, I’m not arguing that’s the way it should be, only that that’s the way it could be.

Just to throw in my two cents, I also think it’s ridiculous that the Legendaries have only 1 stats option. What if you play a zerker or condition build? You would have to take a handicap if you want to use your PVT Legendary. It makes no sense that you have to work so hard for an item that will make you less effective.

I believe Anet has stated before that even if you transmuted a legendary they will upgrade to BiS when the time comes.
My reason being, when ascended gear first appeared all non transmuted legendaries received the upgrade to ascended stats, not 1 or 2 hours later this change was removed I believe because it did not effect transmuted ones as intended.
Or maybe it was removed because not everyone had the ability to obtain a higher quality weapon. I feel that both are plausible and it was pushed off until Anet could deal with it more freely.
On another note being the owner of both a transmuted and a non transmuted legendary I think it is irrelevant to worry, the change hasn’t come yet, Anet failed to put a system in to select desired stats and when the change comes I feel it will be upgraded since I put just as much effort to getting mine as the next guy did. Why should we (owners of transmuted legendaries) be punished for not wanting undesirable stats. especially since a 2h weapons accounts for what an 1/8 of the stats gained from gear? Not including weapon damage of course.

I have frostfang, love it. Have howler too love it. Going for a 3rd and undecided legendary now. The only thing I wish I would have done different is make either sunrise bolt or flameseeker (the three I am held up on now) then making howler. I mean I really like it but I hardly ever use it except to stand around in town and in wvw zergs. other than that I feel i would have much more use out of 1 of the other 3 first.

(In fact, it’s incredibly silly that neither sunrise nor twilight are even counted as legendaries, as making either of these weapons will not award you with the “legendary” account medal – only eternity will.)

Wait what? Seriously? That has got to be both the dumbest, and most disappointing, thing I’ve seen all day. My fiancee will be crushed.

If he equips either it should still count under his unique legendary tab in his in game achievements.

But it’s attacks are very noticeable, unlike frostfang which really has a great throwing animation however when meleeing is hardly able to be distinguished from corrupted weapons. Maybe a bigger tail when swung, or a giant awesome ice breath “flame” when using eviscerate.
Howler has footfalls, granted if you’re fully zoomed in and it’s night time. I it looked as though I was constantly walking in a puddle that’d be pretty sweet.
But these are just the ones I have, better than the scepter at least.

Frostfang + Howler, was going to make flameseeker as I use a shield 80% of the time however, it just doesn’t suit my tastes :/ oh well.

@kiba, sword +shield /gs combo in wvw has been working really well for me on the guardian, have face rolled a few thieves with the set up.

Legendary Hours

I’d figure you need about 400-600 hours in the game.

The big time factor that limits your legendary progress is the karma. Karma is pretty fixed and there is only so much karma you can farm in a day.

WvW is probably the best place to farm karma, as events can freely start whenever, and are much more frequent, killing a dolyak awards the same karma as shelters and there are usually 2×.

but yeah id say 4-600 im nearing 1400 and will be done with my 2nd legendary soon (literally need 42 skill points >.>)

The other gifts aren’t that hard so this holds little weight IMO. Anet needs to tread carefully dealing with this. They make them a hand out and all the people who got one prior will feel cheated, if it stays as it is people will continue to rage quit. I think everyone needs to remember that it is MEANT to be exclusive

Regarding your “hand out” comment, my problem with this is that the wrong people have already got the legendaries. They are demeaned. Okay, now that might seem a little inflammatory, but frankly, it’s the truth. Get over it.

Exactly! Why should you be able to acquire something by flushing all that you’ve achieved down the Mystic Toilet when others are incidentally deigned worthy (“entitled”, as you put it) by the RNG? But enough about the randomness! Onward, to the positive conclusion!

I’m going over old ground now, but here it is anyway:
Legendaries should have been tied to the Achievement system (even if it means “grinding” of a sorts), not market speculation and grinding for gold. Fix this, and you can stick a fork in it!

I am annoyed at this too, and it gives you TWO oh and they’re soulbound. So it means to me that if you go through and get two, you will either have to just destroy them, or hope that 4 more of your rolls will be a waste? Though if you do get 10 you can do a 10x recipe but still. >.>

My razor has a macro on it that is nothing but for double clicking, used for these and salvaging lmao.

I have had no problems with doing them with full groups in the 50-60 range, however, I have noticed that team composition and coordination are much more valuable when running lower leveled toons, where as 80s can make up for it with flat out damage.

Make each Heart vendor give you a “piece”, that can be placed into the mystic forge with corresponding pieces, make every POI have a little hidden chest or a “suspicious pile of dirt” or what have you that has to be put together with other pieces from other poi’s and have every vista have a little piece hidden somewhere too. This would give a lot more meaning to having world completion. Very obtainable by every one.
Put this new gift into the forge with gift of mastery, fortune, and respective gift of legendary, this gives you something new and a special quest line pops up where you have to do like a 2-3 hour (broken up in different instances so you don’t have to do it all at once) story line to find your precursor. Put them together, bam legendary.

I don’t like the 25000 kills idea, good in concept, but if I wanted to make Flameseeker on a guardian I don’t want to be forced to play a warrior to farm kills for it.
BUT I would like to see like a 50,000 kill limit on those Weapon masters, (less for things like warhorns, shields, focus etc.) That would unlock new #2 3 4 5 skills, it would give way to more varied builds, etc. Mainly I want this because I find axe #3 (warrior) to be useless in dungeons. Also would like some better Wh skills, come to think of it, axe #3 on ranger isn’t the most useful either.

No it means exactly what I said. A team with coordination, unlike a group of pugs running MF/PVT or a slapped together bunch of guildee’s.

I can run PVT armors and still hit 3.5k crits, umadbro?
Though really running full zerkers is fun and fairly easy, the extra 16% crit damage to my already 103% isn’t doing much, but the extra 11% critical chance looks pretty and that why I run it.

Each new piece of AR gear is meant to allow you to progress to further fractal levels, which have increasingly better rewards compounding with higher scaling difficulty.

Too many legendarys

Very much so. Like i’ve said tons of times before, the only thing legendary about legendaries is doing WvW jump puzzles. Everything else is just a time/gold sink, well excluding precursors which is just flat out a gold sink. I myself have Kudzu on my ranger and i like it. Sure i’ve seen others around but who cares, i got mine and i worked for it and im happy with it. That’s all that matters at the end of the day.

And of course as an MMO ages, the epic loot will become more and more common unless they keep the gear treadmill going and have stuff like endgame raiding that require 40 other likeminded people to sink 6 hours a day into raiding for raid gear. Or they can just take away all legendaries from everyone and have a lotto where only 3 people per server will be randomly drawn to have a legendary. the rest can never get one. That would truely make em legendary

I used to play a game metin2, on the standard pub severs the first male and first female toons to hit lvl 99 got armor that no one else could get.

Boon duration is affected mostly by runes and no sane guardian would go healing power armor as it leaves them being squishie or lacking damage to even get drops. so Power, Vitality, Toughness is the way to go.

People should not comment about a class they know nothing off.

PVT is useless in a pve scenario unless your goal is to solo tank in open world, and only has minor uses in pvp areas, regardless of profession. People should not comment about effective builds they know nothing of.

As for guardians, pretty much always welcome by me, doubly so in fractals. Provided they don’t sit on staff the entire run. Their damage isn’t bad, better than most if you know what you’re doing (discounting warrior of course). It’s more the side that, you don’t meet guardians who believe they Can do damage.

Um on my warrior I have a full pvt set of armor with full ruby orbs and a full set of zerker armor with ruby orbs, I notice a VERY little damage increase with beserkers, and the crit chance gained doesn’t seem to help crit more. I don’t mind running in pvt, never hurts the group.

on guardian topic I have a guardian I run it as a tanky damage dealer, giving alot of might to allies etc. It seems to work well.

play it safe or go big and win(or lose) big. it also reduced the chance or pain of carpal tunnel with less clicking and time wasted.

@svarty, after i got the 77 clovers and 250 shards for mastery, i continued to make the 1x recipe whether i got clover or not i didn’t care, but it was a rather easy way to get about 1/2 the T6 mats needed and the occasional loadstone that i didn’t need further supported the T6 mat buying.
@Nike, yeah you can get good luck with the 10x, i hit pay dirt trying 3 times getting 10 clovers each.then i went back to 1x because I felt my luck had run out lmao.

Well if you have an infused koss of koos and you xmute it should the infusion transfer? it adds the +5 agoney resist to the stats not the name to i think if you have one already infused itll go with the stats.

just did fotm 10 currently at 17 got the dredge ice elemental, and it’s completly different now. the elemental now applys agony 100% of the time. how are we even suppose to do this

Um, all of his agony fields are giant very avoidable aoe fields, you dodge bro?

@can- I still see it as kind of a chore, the dungeons haven’t become harder just whining.
@CABS, defensive skills are the entire reason I can roll full dps, I have the most op binded to my alt key, makes me do barrel rolls and such.

well most dungeons are there for the exotic gears which alternatively you can craft or buy (excluding fractals). now post-update, its become even more pointless unless you are after a specific gear skin.

i like what you pro-update guys say, if we dont like it then dont play it. then i question what is the use of this debate? what is the use of Anet opening a feedback section? so if we dont like it we automatically become whiners?

anyways back to the subject. if i see a player in down-state now, being a glassy mesmer i will not ress them. plenty of times i tried to ress someone ive died myself, thankfully there were this “waypoint” that i could rely on. but now ressing is not an option for glassy players like me. why would i risk losing more man power by ressing? makes no sense.

Being a full glass cannon in PvE is generally not a good idea. Even the devs themselves have said this. Survivability > Cannon for the most part.

Second, the pros heavily outweigh that small dilemma. The dungeons are more challenging and require thought, instead of armor repairs.

You cannot buy the armors for dungeons, so what do you mean it’s useless to do them?

Us “Pro-Update” guys aren’t saying that. I can only speak for myself in this, but I’m saying what I like about this update. It’s clear to me that there was a LOT of work put into not only this patch, but this game. I’m not saying “If you don’t like it, just quit”. I’m saying, if you see an issue, express it in a non “Oh god everything is terrible and bad and I hate it” way. It’s not constructive and it gets old fast. Maybe you’ll see that this update isn’t bad. Maybe you’ll see what they’re really trying to do by enforcing the WP stuff.

Just say what you mean without the hyperboles and whinny language. That’s all. It’s fine if you don’t like the update, but I think it’s impossible to say this update was 100% kitten.

actually the devs said that survivability would be much safer when entering the zone for the first time and after becoming more comfortable with the zone/toon becoming more of a damage role would be more possible.
And this is the main problem that I see with people is they make a toon, gear it glass cannon right away, get killed every 10 seconds then call it too difficult because they don’t know what they’re doing yet.

The defending of Magg is such a faceroll now.

Done it with a pug party with 2 rangers, rifle warrior and some ele. Had no difficulties whatsoever and completed it in one try. I imagine with good team it’s just facerolling while mobs die.

It could even use some more upscaling.

Well thats at least 3 aoe type chars 2 of which cripple on their aoes.

Try it with a melee heavy team, and you will fail every time.

how? most melees have the capacity to keep stability on themselves when needed, I know i can, and i know that every warrior has the same skills availible to them. Also both melee classes have MANY stun breaks, a few of them are on pretty short cds too.
2 warrs, 2 guards, 1 mes, did it just fine.

@the gates assassin, running full dps warrior myself. Axe/shield however, i found no problem with this. I suppose the real skill is to be able to run full dps and still succeed.

It’s only “not a great mechanic” if you and your team aren’t very good at the game. Sorry, that’s the simple truth.

Though I don’t mind the change that was made for the most part.
Being “good” at this game was never apart of anything that was said by anet. It was actually something that drew me to the game, I am fairly decent probably above average, but what I like about the game is that I could explore all of the game without the need to be very good.
I understand that it’s a learning process I used to be terrible at dungeons until I ran them for 2 months straight, now I’m “good” I suppose. I just feel that making the group either risk themselves to res, or to start completely over is a bit knee jerk.

That’d be a problem if there actually were big, unavoidable hits in PvE. The only fight that really comes to mind where damage becomes unavoidable is Alpha, but if you’re playing that fight correctly your squishies in the party shouldn’t be eating huge damage once you’re stacked. Agony is percentage based so vit isn’t really a factor.

Health pools aren’t the be all end all to survival mechanics. Thieves, eles and Mesmers outclass Warriors in every respect when it comes to mobility and will pump out more damage if played correctly. Your survivability in those scenarios isn’t dependent on your stats like the warrior, rather your positioning. Every 1-shot in AC, for example, isn’t dependent on your vitality. Kholer’s pull, the shouts and rocks from the Howling King and Rumblus and the Scavenger’s knockdown cannot be sat through with vitality and toughness alone. You’re either immune, out of range or dead. Even running full p/v/t on a warrior in AC wouldn’t let me live through Kholer’s pull unless I popped Endure Pain. That doesn’t mean you’re unable to melee, though, because you can still whack at kholer after his pull when you’re behind him and the Graveling’s shouts aren’t a 360 degree killzone.

Until PvE actually becomes challenging base health pools will remain to be insignificant in the grand scheme of things. If you can get behind a boss and stay there through mobility as a light class then you’re good to go as far as melee is concerned. Until boss mechanics develop to the point where maintaining this position becomes impossible and distance or vitality is required to stay standing, melee isn’t any less effective.

um. i run a dps warrior and can survive a kholer pull, something is wrong with your set up, and you are only 1/2 correct when it comes to thieves, eles, mesmers doing more damage, true they can burst for more and this is a great argument for pvp, but in pve the subject of this conversation sustained damage will always end doing more damage, and that is something the warrior can do. Stand and bang and barely ever have to stop, where as the aforementioned classes cannot.

transmuted items do not work IIRC because you are actually changing the item.

Legandary Pistol

The thing is all the other legendarys looks really good, and have an eye catching visual effect with sound. Even the legendary knife the incinerator looks good. But the pistol shoot flower and colours and make a sound like the clown cork guns in a circus, this just isn’t fair.

Think of the anger someone is filled with in WvW after being killed by a cork popping flower shooting high tech bubble gun, would anger me at least, if thieves could kill me reliably.

@elderan, they have spoke of adding more legendaries, I absolutlely hope they do because I want a cool looking shield, not a book plastered on some matel that glows blue. >.>
Also I have every toon that can weild an axe I don’t want frost fang on them all. I know there are some crappy looking legendaries but really some diversity is needed.

It lowers your silver reward though. A sub-80 doesn’t get the complete 26 silver

Who runs dungeons for the end reward? the bosses in between offer more.

5 points for every 5 dungeon’s you clear, though it works a little oddly, i think it counts individual dungeons rather than each explorable path, so if you do AC explorable 123 it’ll give you 1 point towards your 5.

i’ve never cared enough to find out exactly what counts towards it, but it’s definately not every explorable path be that design or bug.

The ones that want wars only are normally noobs that don’t know how to play. They normally don’t say but its the Berserker warriors that they want. Good only for AC and CoF.
CoE, HotW, Arah normally kicks their kitten
It’s the run fast elitist groups that want DPS only.
Don’t worry, type your own LFG and you will probably end up with a normal group

I run dps warrior everywhere, and I don’t get my kitten kicked. Your argument is invalid.
Well I run with a shield, this would be a defining factor of greatsword try hards that most of you are talking about. Not dying in this game is easy, and running full beserkers isn’t bad, just not for everyone.

mesmer would be my choice but that because I prefer other weapons on the other classes mentioned.

100b is broken in PvE
I’m sorry but in CoF p1 its hard to outshine warriors, I run full knight armor (toughness/power/precision) and my damage still outshines my glass cannon builds on my other characters with 20/20 in strength and firearm tree. With berserker gear warriors would be pumping out 17k damage every 10 seconds (8 seconds with time warp), I’ve been in runs where the boss died from full hp to 0 within the time frame of 1 timewarp.

100b is terribad in pve, especially dungeons. mainhand axe will out damage it in a 10 second span, just because you SEE 1 big number does not mean it is best it only means you see one big number. Also 100b roots you which is horrid.
in PvP 100b becomes a little better but still not optimal.

So with zerg reviving getting the boot....

I get that some encounters are being reworked to be more difficult.
However, (not trying to sound cool or whatever word you want to put with it) but I find it fun when 4 other members of the group die and it is just me left alone vs the boss until they get back.
Not that this happens too often and sure sometimes I end up dying myself but its sort of an accomplishment to be able to hold the boss off from regening back to full health so the group doesn’t have to start completely over.
Now I will either have to solo the boss, or die so that the rest of the group can join again. Which adds more chances of failure, more chances that I may have to die so the rest of the group can get back up.
Pretty lame update.

At long last after god knows how many dungeon runs, how many WvW jumping puzzles, or just how many poor, poor skritt and corrupted quaggans murdered, I finally have completed my major GW2 Goal.

Took so long but sooo worth it. Here’s to everyone who helped me on my journey!

monitoring precursors

I must apologize for the tone of my post- too many bugs in last nights session- ended up on the forums, and so my annoyance showed.
HAVING a legendary DOES show your prowess. . .that youve got 100% map completion, done x dungeon y times for the tokens, and got lots of karma and skill points, and badges.
The mats can be bought so in my eyes are not a signs of prowess ( granted they cost lots/ take time to farm)
BUT i am sure there are people in the game that have EVERYTHING except the precursor, and because of this do not have a legendary, so they cannot show their prowess to the world because they did not have a RANDOM precursor drop.
The only thing that should be random is the clovers
EVEN putting 4 unique weapons in the forge does not guarantee a precursor
HOW DIFFICULT WOULD IT BE TO ADD A FEW RECIPES TO THE FORGE?

EDIT: so there’s 20 known precursors so add 20 recipes to the forge- surely its not that difficult/complicated????

dumb idea to have a set mystic forge recipe for a precursor if you understand economics you would understand why and plus why would they want to do something like that when they want there legendaries to be hard to obtain and one fo the hard part is in fact getting the precursor. Kinda wish ppl would stop making threads about this or merge all the kittening and complaints into one.

sure legendaries should be hard to obtain. . . Have you seen the mats needed to make 4 firebringers?. . .(mystic forge – no recipe needed) . . . .4 eldritch scrolls (200 skill points) 120 mystic coins 1000 ori sword blades and 200 molten lodestone. .
I really dont understand what economics has to do with this. . . . this is a mmorg game that rewards players for hard work and time spent on the game. . . . . SO a precursor SHOULD NOT BE A RANDOM DROP (and especially not for the people that ONLY played on the free weekend.) . . . HOW is that HARD to obtain? – It’s CALLED LUCK

While i do agree with you on most points i find 1 flaw.
Doing it this way, would skyrocket the price of Ori… Skyrocket the price of molten lodestones, and also skyrocket the price of mystic coins because the handful who control the TP, will monopolize on it still.

you shifted our problem from expensive precursor, to expensive premats for precursor.

Orich can be massively farmed by 1 player, average 56 ore from all nodes each day x5 toons? 280 ore on average a day with 5 toons. mystic coins would be a problem true, however he offered that recipe as an example, same with loadstones.
His point is to make it a SET recipe, that cost could still be absurd sure but at least you would know that if you did wxy z would be the end result.
