So some things I’ve read that aren’t true.
#1-Guardians with proper buffs and a proper build carry higher dps than warrior.
#2-Ranger sword auto is better than warrior axe auto. A pure axe warrior build is viable, and carries the same dps and a gs+axe/mace (if no wall is involved) so really A ranger is just fine for DPS. This brings me to my 3rd point.
#3-GS is not the only DPS build for warrior, people must still be a year behind.
#4-I have seen the “downed DPS is no DPS” argument, 2 things about this one.
A. Even in downed state I deal more damage than your healing guardian.
B. People don’t understand that we in DnT are a higher caliber of player than your average pug, watch our streams we rarely go down. Now for my 5th.
#5-Average pugs do not ever pay full attention to build guides, videos, etc that we have put out. We always state that these builds are for ORGANIZED GROUPS,
If you’re pugging, you are not an organized group. This means you probably should not be running optimal builds for a couple reasons.
A. Pugs like their terrible healing builds, this means you don’t have the damage to complete anything fast.
B. Pugs like their terrible healing builds, this means you don’t have the proper knowledge of the game to know when to dodge.
C. Pugs like their terrible healing builds, this means that if they see you go downed even ONE time you are just so terrible that you should just uninstall.
#6-People talking here probably haven’t even seen Obal play. Personally he is the best PvE guardian in the game. Find someone, ANYONE, no matter the build; that can complete the same content as Obal, not only faster, but without going down, Obal very rarely does. If at all. Learn the people you speak about before talking about them.
#7-I see people claim that Obals build can’t remove conditions, I want them to go and look over the build. Look at the suggested skills. Then list every encounter that you need condition removal. You will probably realize some more things.
A. the build does have condition removal, you never bothered to look that’s why you don’t know.
B. If you had any sort of decent damage, you wouldn’t EVER need more than 3 condition cleanses.
I think that covers everything, I hate seeing people talk about bad experiences and try to link it back to people running “zerker trash” you don’t know the build, you obviously don’t know the game.
Quit blaming peoples failures on us, it isn’t our fault that you can’t run a damage spec or that they don’t screen their parties better to keep healing players out.

“Lore people” will play fractals once or twice and move on to roleplay in divinity’s reach while more dedicated players will get bored because it will lack any sort of challenge except bigger numbers.
What should be done is to severely decrease the number of scales, the difference between 1 and 9 is trivial. Introduce complex mechanics for higher tiers (not just numbers) and make those god kitten cinematics skippable. Obligatory reset included.
I am so tempted to be hyper critical on this post but I won’t, as it isn’t this single comment that has been frustrating but instead a culmination of posts in the CDI.
Suffice to say this post emphasizes why this CDI has been pretty good and not great. In my opinion there have been to many posts that have either not been well thought out or the poster has not taken the time to get educated in the discussion before putting pen to paper, and more specifically too insular in terms of goal resolution instead of thinking about the broader audience.
I will leave it at that.
I am still interested in continued discussion around your boss/encounter mechanic ideas, Rewards and ways in which the fractals could be evolved moving forward to provide new types of challenge.

IIRC, fractals has been the answer to us hard-core PvE dungeons runners as “The toughest content ever!” So I don’t find it unreasonable for those of us that are better at completing these tasks than 90% of the community; to ask for improvements such as better rewards and an actual challenge.
I means seriously you just basically called Haviz uneducated about fractals when hes done dredge at lvl 80 (post reset) and yet Anet devs struggle with aetherblade at lvl 30. I know you guys aren’t good at your own game but come on, at least take the word of someone who does a bit more serious.

Let me ask a fair question, to those that do not understand the argument I’m making about boss tells. Why don’t any of the bosses have an attack as clear as this one?
There are plenty of bosses in GW2 that have these massive aoe attacks that hit in a huge radius. But instead of actually seeing a large sphere-shaped explosion that grows in size, along with a clear sound effect, we get a big red circle on the ground and no sound effect.
I have to ask, why? Why would that be bad? Surely clear visualization is vastly superior to just a red ring? It would help the timing immensely. We would no longer have to watch for red circles, and could instead simply look and listen to what was happening on the screen.
Let me ask you a question, why should Anet further dumb the game down to levels of gaming like a cookie cutter Korean farmer?
Every attack animation in this game is rather basic, if you played through your world completion and actually stopped and fought champions, you would noticed that champions and above share animations of the same type.
Trolls have the same animations in queens dale as the one in HOTW 1, they may not all do the same attacks but they do share animations. If you have failed to pick up on common attack animations through out your time playing maybe you need to restart and pay attention this time.

It appears that the new bosses are completely immune to condition dmg and instantly reflects it back to you.
I spent about 500g, and a month of my time fitting my necro out to do nothing constructive. I have to literally stand at the boss OOC for 10+ minutes and do nothing. My options seem to be respec or be worthless.
If you want to make things that are strong against conditions then just make them immune, the reflect is crippling to me, every weapon I own and even my auto-attack applies conditions, my only option is standing there OOC for most of the fight.

I’d like to see their testers do Dredge lvl 49 without a thief. That would be fun to watch.
It’s not lacking a thief that makes dredge horrible to get done, it’s the NEED for a guardian that times reflect wall / shield of the avenger. If you have no guardian for dredge at lvl 49 then good luck to you, sir.
A thief certainly would help, but it’s by no means necessary. Spykits + harpy feathers can suffice for stealthing anyways.
We do fine at the dredge fractal when we do 5 warrior fractal 49s.

Making a legendary isn’t supposed to be a cake walk. It’s meant to make you touch as many parts of the game as you can.
I’m casual, and have 6 characters that I play quite evenly. I’m over rank 30 on every single one. I also roam, don’t play in the zerg if I can avoid it. Mind you I love WvW so a lot of my time is spent there.
Point I’m trying to make is if I ever want to create a legendary I too, like you, have to go to other parts of the game I don’t particularly care for. Dungeons, map completion, PVE grind for mats…. I completely understand why.
Argument goes both ways. I understand for someone who doesn’t participate in WvW that rank 30 may seem daunting, but if you can pump at all the other requirements for a legendary I promise you after you hit rank 30 you will realize how little effort it actually was.

Friday I decided I wanted to make a sunrise, I opened the TP bought what I didn’t have, went around collected the little things I needed. Then spent 4 days completing world completion for the 3rd time. What a bore… I found out however, that if you complete everything but the hearts, then zoom to the next map; you can get the hearts done pretty fast when you go back. I digress. So anyways, I got the last 2 maps done this morning before my classes, got the gifts of exploration and made my new shiny sunrise.
This is my 5th legendary, (yay for completing legendary collector.) and it didn’t really have the same feel as when I equipped the first one (frostfang), and I thought to myself, “Eh I have the gold, Anet isn’t going to make either A)relevant content orNew legendaries, at least in the near future, I hope.” So while I’ll wait I guess I’ll make another.
Again I opened the trusty TP, bought everything for The Flameseeker Prophecies, made my clovers, went and collected the runes stones. Thank god for that new buy 10 option. Went to wvw, and discovered I could not buy a gift of battle. sat for awhile, asked a few people, finally found out that I cannot get it. So now I have everything sitting around for flameseeker and I can’t make it because I’m forced to play a terrible side of this game. Spvp is so much better I could handle it if it required rank 30-40 in spvp. Instead I’m thrown into the stupidity that is WvW. I just want my shiny.
@Azizul, I hear R30 is obtainable in 2 days, while I did want my shiny today I can do this in 3-4 days sure. However, Dungeon Master can be gotten roughly in 4-6 hours. Depending on peoples play times this is anywhere from a 4 hour grind to a 2 day grind, and even the PvE side of this game it considerably better than the cancer that is WvW.

I absolutely share the opinion of the OP.
To me, that what these people do is clearly abusing the LFG Tools for something, for what the tool was in no way designed for.The LFG tools function is to help people finding easier Groups for Dungeons, Personal Stories, Lifing Story Stuff ect.
It was never an intention of the Devs to give us players with the tool something, that is going to be so massively abused as a Selling Platform for people, that want to monetize everything out of this game for their own personal greedy selfs, that want just to make quickly as much gold in the game as possible.Selling Dungeon Runs for quick high personal profits just completely ruins the social aspect of the whole game, that people should play together.
You see basically nothing else anymore in the tool, than those antisocial Dungon Run Sellers spamming the Tool full for those Dungeons that mean for them the most big profits, like Arah…We’re talking here about something, that just started to exist from the moment on, when the LFG-Tool got implemented. Before the implementation, there was nothing like Dungeon Run Selling in this game.

Flippers & Real Money Trading Outside the Gem-storeThere’s a large amount of Players lurking in the shadows buying hordes of Gold From Websites/ Chinese Re-sellers and so on and that Effect the Gem Prices because less supply vs more demands and it Causes Anet to lose a fair good amount of money that can be used for Development and causes the player to get less for the time they’ve spent farming those gold and so on
2nd Issue at hand is Broker Flippers
They just flip the broker buying an item or a material or w/e for an Small “x” Amount of gold and sell it for higher basically earning money over time by almost doing nothing and it causes the prices to go higher and higher over timei just wanted to point out these two issues because its effecting the game in a bad way
i don’t know much of solutions to the Flippers but the RMT can be avoided by setting an “xxxx” amount of gold to be mailed to anyone per month or per week and restrict it to friend-list "For an example a friend that have been in the friend list for an “xx” amount of time"

Ah, well then. I feel that the amount of time required to craft ascended items is ridiculous. As it stands you can earn 1 piece of armor per 4-6 days, heavy armor is 5 days tops IIRC for the helm 4 for everything else. This doesn’t scale well with the little amount of dragonite you need. Stars and dust are almost irrelevant, but I feel the whole "daily ecto crafting part was just thrown on top to make the experience longer and nothing else. Seeing this, people feel like the time required is too much and they don’t try to achieve getting ascended pieces.
A month of play is too long for a gear set, builds can change, people may (should) have different builds for wvw, and pve. This forces them to chose what they will play more until they finish each set. On top of this you can only work on 1 character at a time, then to cap that off each craft has the same timer. A better solution to this would be different daily mats for each craft, sure it would be more work to add in different storage places, but the pay off for people with multiple classes would be better. And it would still keep the time for 1 set regulated since you would not be able use light mats in med armors, etc.
The crafts don’t feel balanced either, it’s longer and more expensive to gear out light characters, heavy is the quickest, and medium is the cheapest. So really light got screwed. I just feel that the balance of each profession wasn’t suited and the 1 daily mat is just too much, the only limited thing should be dragonite. It is account bound, you can only get a set amount each day, that set amount is only dependent on how much effort you put in to it, and it isn’t just a gimick to get me to log in at reset. It makes players take part in 1 area the game has to offer, instead on sitting in LA waiting., and lastly dragonite would be the only time gated mat. It just should not take more than 2 weeks to get a full suit of armor. I can get a full exotic set in about 3 hours. 1 or 2 weeks is long enough.
As far as vertical progression goes, there needs to be content in that game that would permit this. Bring out tougher dungeons, harder modes, raids? nothing here requires me to get better gear I only do so because it is better, which makes it all the more lackluster when I complete it.
Cosmetic progression? I don’t see how this could be good at all, Person A: haha that’s only tier 3, Person B: but I like how it looks. Person A: haha noob, not tier 5. This would happen, though I wouldn’t really care people will, and people will complain that this doesn’t look as good as that etc blah blah blah. It’s a bad idea.
Skills, we need more USEFUL skills. Swappable weapon skills would also greatly diversify build variation in spvp and wvw, possibly pve. OF course utility and elites as well. Traits, of course new ones; or even fixing old ones to do what they say they will do or change them to say what they actually do. Make us players actually have to work to get these skills or traits too, I have to many skill points as is, no price of a skill will stop me from buying anything new, it takes away from the experience of earning something new. You could integrate earning new skills and traits in to newer more difficult dungeons, or open world bosses in new zones.
Give me something to work for, that I can’t just buy right away, and isn’t timed gated with stupid daily things.

I only PUG so that full zerk thing will never be optimal for me. I go in a PUG with the intent to be able to solo everything even if something goes wrong.
Did you even kill liadri? Berserker was the best gear for killing her. Anet makes it very obvious they berserker is superior to all other stats in PvE.
Yep, berserker was not the best for Liadri. P/D condi was the best and almost noone used berserker for doing the achievement with 8 orbs.
I just did a pug AC story and then AC1/2 in full zerk with 2 lvl 48’s and a 35 had little to no problems. I just explained everything clearly and they listened, being nice and helping people will get you a lot further than your “survivability” (which means nothing in this games PvE).
I Liadri in full zerk and got every achievement, that fight only separated those who could figure out fights and those that leans on the crutch that comes in the form of tankyness.

Actually, a PW build demolishes most dungeons that can be soloed (don’t have group-forced elements like consoles to activate at the same time).

Ironic indeed.…as a matter of fact pve is now removed from the game-upon logging in you’ll be ported to lion’s arch where everyone stacks and auto attacks the training dummies in the most efficient order for exotics (and of course the obligatory elitist bragging of how I can press ‘1-2-3’ like a boss from the kids).
Being an elitist myself I do not brag that I can stack and press buttons better than anyone else. I only brag that using common sense and doing such things has made me much more gold much faster in game. In fact I am probably more casual of a player than anyone running around in PTV gear, I can get on play for 2 hours make 30-80g, then go enjoy other aspects of life. You PTV wearing people just love the game so much more than I do so you use such gear so that you are forced to see the game longer, it all makes sense now.
Oh and new skills to satisfy clamoring for ‘progression’ and gating them by having them cost almost as much as elites…for people who’ve been around a year….and have hundreds of skill points….and will just buy them as soon as they log in anyway…sucks to be the new guy.
I would rather the old GW1 style of skill obtaining, I would have to seek a specific monster, kill it while doing something special, and finally obtain the skill. You think 30 skill points is hard? In fact I would prefer having to do option A I want to spend time searching for some stupid skill that is probably worse than any out already, I would get more satisfaction from having a complete character rather than logging in and just buying it.

Because people are aware that there is a possible difference they can easily say, “That thief had full ascended they had better stats than I do that’s why they beat me.” When in fact that thief is me, and my ascension efforts are fully put toward my warrior first, I just played better than you.

Colin has said that Anet felt that obtaining Exotic gear was far too simple and that the length of time to get such top tier gear was too short in comparison to how long they wanted their players to commit to the game, even casually.
Because some people feel the need to grind out even minimal stat-differences?
Some people, like myself, will not have to grind at all to get ascended armor. I currently have 86 laurals with nothing to use them on, enough T7 ingots to make around 10 weapons, and enough gold to buy whatever else is needed. Yes even the end product of the “daily” mats can be bought so I have no doubt I can fit into full ascended day1.
It is almost sad, I would much rather class specific Legendary armor so that I will not only look 1/2 way special but could just chose the stats I want at any given time. Now I will just make ascended armor because it’s something I don’t have then will make legendary armor because it’s something I want.
Simply put give us things we want not things we don’t need.

hey Dahkeus dont worry to much about it as it is right now you only need about 50 agony resistance or less to do max fractal level. Ascended gear was created to be used for fractals of the mist to begin with. Youl still be considered as a primed character even with only the rings the weapon the trinkets, the amulet and the bag. As for where armor stands for its great to have new improved stats however dungeons were designed for character in green equipment and unless you plan to do fractals lvl 50 everyday you wont need those armor just yet. Im far from concerned about the new ascended armor creation this is just another pastime for those crazies who waste time making several legendaries at the same time.
Legendaries is for crazies who want to waste 5000 gold for a bows that shoots unicorn. I believe 1 year or later well be able to buy a pre for 200 gold at top because they will become 5 time more accessible from specific events or boss drops or just from the laurel system. Focus your time in ascended gear and leave legendaries to daydreamer i say at least you get to keep some form of realistic gear.
As for where pugs stands, i check their dungeon master title way before i check their agony resiliance. Long as there are clowns and jugglers no pugs will ever be safe from failure even with a full ascended gear set

I’ve never seen anything suggesting that dungeons where meant to be done in greens, if so why do they award exotic? I understand that you can do them in greens to receive exotics, however, what about the people who would continue to do them after exotics have been obtained? The dungeon would be far too easy at that point, well they are far too easy but still I don’t feel as though they where created with the thought that most of the people running them would be using greens.

for thief:
30/30/0/0/10 — fights shorter than 9 seconds
25/30/0/0/15 — fights shorter than 19 seconds
25/30/10/0/5 — fights longer than 19.1 seconds (edit: only if you can consistently backstab every 4 seconds indefinitely, if not then 25/30/0/0/15 is better)
30/30/0/0/10 with sword/dagger is far better you just have to 1-1-3, 1-1-3 instead of just auto-attacking. The total DPS is like 1% lower but you don’t have to worry about stealth cd or being behind the target, also you can cleave while bringing your highest damage. By all means you can take s/d and d/d though.
For warrior –
GS + axe/mace sigil of night in gs and axe, sigil of battle in mace.
Full zerk gear, scholor runes slotted.
Traits are 30str, V, IX, XI
25 arms, V, X
15 discipline, whatever you want i guess. sig mastery would probably be best though.
Full axe build, AXE/Mace +warhorn/or sword warhorn most of the time though.
Sigil of night in axe force in off hands, energy in sword is ok too.
Full zerk, with scholar.

10 tactics, VI

Idea in this trait set up is to maximize the deeps, Nike vouches that the last 5 in discipline is better than anywhere else.
You don’t need fast hands in this build because the off-hand skills don’t recharge that quickly.

That might actually change if mesmers become the new condition removal + reflect meta for pve dungeons. We’ll wait and see.
Guardians, even as they are at the moment have higher dps than warriors (as long as they have fury, so basically in groups, with proper builds) why would you replace them with mesmers, who have the lowest dps of the 3, and only bring 1/2 the support.

Don’t get mad; it was an honest question. I don’t think anyone argues that a full DPS party will have a fast run under perfect conditions and good RNG. Your guild’s videos prove that.
But your livestreams shows a very different story because you can’t edit out all the failed trash runs.
Is the goal “speed” records, or consistently successful dungeon runs? I think a lot of people would say the latter.
You still don’t get it though just because in stream we don’t play top notch at all possible times doesn’t mean we are slower than pugs.
We screw up now and again sure, we may go down, and sometimes die; absolutely. But the biggest difference is that we learn from our mistakes, and try not to do it again. Even if we do go down or die, our groups are doing far better than any pugs, and still clearing it far faster.
So yes we still have consistently successful dungeon clears, everyday. True our videos for speed clears are kitten near full perfect, but that’s what you do to get such great videos. But please don’t try that whole “you edited the runs to make them perfect” story, it’s rather childish.
Really if you think going day in and day out without ever going down is a sign of a good build, then you must not know that much about the game.

Yeah nobody uses Might in actual gameplay. Our bad.
And FYI, that was a boss in Arah p3 who had projectile attacks, hence the WoR. You see, you don’t know anything about this boss because you don’t do Arah. If you did do some of the game’s harder content you would be more familiar with your profession’s mechanics.
My point was that that boss only really uses his projectile when you are casually ranging him.
@silent, the wall of reflect is really to protect everyone from the hands that throw rocks and knock people down. Basically, nothing that was reflected hit the boss at all.

Gotta love the doggies they work well in ganking. I showed that in Queens Gauntlet. Made it look silly with pet spam, kinda funny. But if you notice that was pretty much the last video I used it. That’s our point, we live, we have better dps, it isn’t a matter for debate it has been proven and publicly shown. Honestly even if you have to pick up a newbie full beserker gs warrior and all he does it 100b anytime he is up he’s doing more dps than you are.
Re: IF you honestly believe that that boss is being reflected then I can rest ashore that you have no knowledge of the boss encounter, and therefore far less experience than you claim to have.
It only further proves that that builds you post and provide are so much better have only been tested in open world PvE where you can quite literally run around with no traits at all and accomplish everything the open world has to offer.
Also I suppose my warrior with no such reflection traits or even weapons equipped able to do so, somehow managed to reflect an attack from the same boss?

Its not really subjective when its already been explained that you can get more survivability and more damage along with better group support by not taking 30 in valor. I dont understand why you are trying to argue against us. We were making valid explanations and alternatives and you seem to have a problem with that. This falls under the circumstance of forum stubborness and argueing for the sake of argueing. Anyone asking the same stuff ingame would actually be receptive to the advice given.
Its subjective since its only true for you and others who so happen to agree with you. You can pull out numbers in respect to how long it takes to finish a dungeon. But its irrelevant since its a self created goal. Gw2 dungeons aren’t on a timer, so creating a build that gets you through the dungeon as fast as possible means very little unless you as the individual cares.

I see 3 weapon sets open only to those willing to spend the money and 3 sets open to those only willing to spend the time, seems about right to me.
I don’t see how it’s a terrible problem though. Fire? Now fire being lazily thrown on too many weapons and armors in the early parts of the game was a problem. Maybe A-net is going through a blue transition phase and we will see some abstract weapons next.

Well, let’s take an easy example – you could encourage players to switch their weapon sets more often in combat, say a warrior would be much more encouraged to switch to a hammer and use control abilities instead of going for hundred blades, or rifle butt if he uses a ranged weapon as secondary, etc.
A guardian might want to bring a shield for knockback, an engineer could be well encouraged to bring the ram-head gadget, or use flameblast, and any other control skills that “interrupts” your damage rotation.
Rifle butt, Warrior hammer, and guard shield would still be terrible selections. Even if the mobs start ressing they are still, for all intensive purposes, with-in cleave range meaning 1. that they will likely die before the res is finished. And 2 knock back control skills such as the ones mentioned are still bad for PvE.
Warriors who know what they’re doing should have axe/mace on swap and be rotating between gs and axe/mace. Mace off hand still has the optimal control skill for full zerk groups and rotating between the 3 warriors in the party is simple. Really killing off downed NPC’s will just be another step in the process for full zerk groups.
I only see downed mobs as a form a time gate, it’s trivial and shouldn’t be used.

Except for contender your traits are fine. As for weapons sword/focus hammer would be better. Greatsword is pretty inconsistent as far as the damage you’ll provide. Sword/focus is higher and static. Then swapping to hammer for utility reasons.

Long time reader, first time poster.
This is just my view so I’ll try to keep this short.
The truly Experienced/Efficient players wouldn’t mind helping Inexperienced/New players as long as they could do the following.
Have a good understanding on the dodge mechanics
Have a good understanding on their profession
Willing to listen and learn new tactics
Willing to change their buildsThey are not willing to help you if you have the following mentality.
“I play how I want” – leave that mentality for open PvE.I am trying to avoid using the word “Elitist” here as the word itself has been tarnished by players who think they are experienced and efficient yet have done nothing for community except alienate the new players.
The real Elitist’s have post guides and videos for dungeons, posted the most efficient builds for quick and efficient runs. They have helped the community and are under no obligation to continue to do so if players continue to have the _"play how I want" mentality when it comes to clearing dungeons.
In no way do I expect anyone to change their build, true I am one of these elitists but every time i join a pug it is the same thing.
Facetank basic telegraphed attacks – no understanding of dodging. ( I have endurance, better dodge to look cool.)
Will not listen to tactics or strategies because “thats not right” or “It’s too dangerous”- Really just unwilling to learn all together.
Then they believe it isn’t right because they know nothing about how their class contributes to a particular fight and just want to keep using the skills they think are cool or look cool.
Honestly it isn’t about builds at all everyone is so concerned about builds A"What gear should I run" B"full zerk" A"That’s not tanky enough" B"why’d you ask" This is just about how every kitten conversation goes when someone asks. A"What traits should I run" B"XYZ" A"that’s not supporty enough" B"Why’d you ask"
Screw the builds, go out on a lvl 40 and fight a lvl 50 veteran. Or go out on a lvl 80 even and solo the champs no one farms. This is what I did to learn how to dodge, granted i’ve dumbed down recently but still. Go out put in the effort to learn this stuff after you realize you don’t need to be so supporty or tanky and you start to grasp what you profession is good at and has limits too, then you will naturally lean towards our builds and gear set ups.

Yeah, I would too would either like the entire axe chain reworked into a 3 hit chain, or reverted back to its old consistent damage.
After that I, along with many other people, professions, weapon users want a variety of 2-5 skills. Right now 2, 4, and 5, are all AoEish. 4 is a frontal cleave maybe rework into a better AoE skill, and adding a new 3 skill to hit multiple targets. But making new 2, 4, and 5 skills that focus on single target would be sweet imo, that way off hand axe may become viable in all realms of play.

I have: Gift of fortune, gift of mastery, at least 30-60 of every lodestone (including cores), an extra stack of every T6 mat. Things to make common recipes like gift of wood and metal. And spare gold to buy a precursor if needed.
Waiting on Anet to release new legendary things so that I may get the new axe or sword asap.
However if the misfortune hits that the new ones do not use fortune or mastery I will finish kamohoali as it is a very nice spear and I have everything to do so now. Then I will make the new ones. But I hope it doesn’t come to that.
