Does anyone else feel that they should allow us to pick from 6 skills from every “skill set”? Elementalist Conjuring weapons give 5 (4 utility, 1 elite) but no heal skill weapon.
Necromancer signets give 5 (4 utility, 1 heal) but no elite skill weapon.
I feel it would give us a lot more diversity in builds and also in trait selection (by having a complete set of utility-skills that are aided by traits). I don’t think it’s that much work either compared to making a whole new specialisation…
Examples for Elementalist:
Heal skills
Conjure: Conjure Ice Flask: Gain a set of Ice flasks that can provide water and ice fields, proving condition cleansing, regeneration, resistance and a lot of healing to other players.
Elite skills
Arcane: Arcane armor: Gain Arcane armor, lasting 10 seconds. Makes all your attacks crits and gives you retaliation (1s) each time you get hit.
Signet: Signet of the Elements: Passive – Gain the aura of your attunement every time you change attunement (recharge 20s)
Active: Give yourself the aura of your attunement and 4 other players around you.
Examples for Necromancer:
Heal skills
Spectral: Spectral Halo: Gain health each time you get struck, heals X amount.
Elite skills
Well: Well of Vampirism: Stun for 5 seconds. Bleed your foes, giving them chill and vulnerable. You heal from their bleed damage. If chill damages them, you gain that health as well.
Signet: Signet of Famine: Passive – You inflict poison and chill every 5th strike. Active – Give yourself Famine, which makes you heal from all your conditions and turns them to Quickness, apply said conditions to your foe.
Examples for Mesmer:
Heal skills
CHANGE ETHER FEST TO GLAMOUR? I mean why is Ether Fest uncategorised?!
/rant
Phantasm: Summon an Illusionary Medic that heals your wounds, while distracting the foe.
Elite skills
Phantasm: Summon a Chronomancer phantasm that applies Alacrity to you and allies, and Slowness and chill to foes.
Mantra: Mantra of Delusion: Meditate, charging a spell that gives your foe Delusion. Delusion makes your boons useless for its delusion. Delusion is the opposite of Resistance and is now a new condition.

… the following things:
- Bank tabs
- Never-breaking gathering tools
- Inventory spaces
- Character slots
HOWEVER!
I am thinking of ONLY buying gems for:
- Bank tabs
- Character slots
Reason? Character slots are just that, an extra character. I like trying out every profession and, besides Ranger and Warrior, they all appeal to me in some major way (Necromancer with its minions, Engineer has turrets, Thief has his random kitten, etc…)
But the thing is, Inventory slots are on one character alone, and so are the gathering tools.
I am NOT paying so much money on gathering tools and inventory spaces if its only for 1 of my many characters that I like playing on.
Does anyone else feel this way? Does anyone else think buying invy space and tools is justified if all ’toons would get them?
This is a simple suggestion to allow us to swap runes and sigils on Ascended and Legendary gear without all the dramatic fuss…
Ascended runes & sigils: Relatively expensive to make, but once made you can put it on armor & weapons. The runes and sigils themselves have no stats or effects. HOWEVER, once you add any superior rune or sigil to the Ascended one, and it will absorb it. You can re-use said rune or sigil anytime now.
This way, you can add every superior rune and sigil into this ascended rune & sigil, and you can cycle through it when you need a different effect. It won’t get destroyed when transmuting ascended gear. This makes the Ascended runes and sigils a type of Rune and Sigil library, and you can add upon it if you wish to.
Legendary runes & sigils: Very expensive to make. Once made, it contains EVERY superior rune and sigil in-game, and every new one will automatically be added.
What boggles my mind is why you do not add polls in-game after completing an event, or after a combat encounter. It’s strange why you don’t do this.
Actually the zerker equivalent for condition damage would be:
Primary: Condition Damage
Second: Condition Duration
Third: PrecisionAlmost every class has an X condition on crit trait, plus X condition on crit sigils and X condition on crit runes.
They would need to revamp how condition duration works, and make it like ferocity, with a soft cap closer to 200% rather than the current 100% hard cap.
Another viable option would be allow conditions to “crit”, not for double damage, but for double duration.
These changes would also necessitate a ~20% reduction in burn damage to maintain balance.
YES! I’d love this so much!
I honestly love Condition Engineer, but using Rampager gear just doesn’t cut it for me…
Where are the new Profession icons you promised us when changing to an Elite Specialisation? This was honestly a big thing I was looking forward too… It also makes sense in a PvP perspective to know what elite spec your opponent has.
Ranger is last my bet is on warrior if none it’s because they haven’t started on thief yet.
I wish I could make up random facts too!
What will the next teaser be? I’m dying of excitement! I’m thinking Engineer! Will Forge be the name? Will hammer be the weapon? WILL DRONES BE THE DRONES?
EDIT: Warrior Specialisation, the Crusader has been revealed!
(edited by Derigar.7810)
Conditions are viable….. Crit damage is just better. As for why. Because they want to release the logical combinations last, so we’re more likely to grind the other slightly better on paper stats, only to replace them later.
That made no sense at all.
After every event or new HoT specific content, give us a small poll that we can answer that tells us if we want to give feedback or not.
If we do want to give feedback, the following options should appear:
- How did you enjoy the event (5 options from very boring to very fun)
- Did you know what to do
- Were the enemies too strong
- Etc…
- Last but NOT LEAST: Anything more you wish to share?
Please do it for the next weekend. Giving feedback through forums is aggravating since we cannot directly converse with the developers, but this way at least we can all give direct input without the "hope’ that you will read that specific piece of feedback.
We need a way to make Condition builds as viable as Power builds in PvE, so I’m very curious to why this combination does not exist yet.
Main addition = Condition Damage
Secondary = Duration and Power
The name could be something like Miasmatic or " – of the Miasma"
Resource needed could be something like a toxic flower found in the jungle.
Please make this viable.
Ok thanks all.
Now I got a final question, I main Elementalist and I enjoy Necromancer, Engineer and Mesmer a lot… I will get a Revenant but I’m not sure on my 6th profession.
Any idea’s for which one is most fun?
I bought the pre-purchase GW2: Heart of Thorns edition at the GameMania today, and I just redeemed the code. I can see 4 slots for beta characters but no extra slot for regular characters.
Did I pre-purchase too late or something? Because that’s horrible fan service if that’s the case.
How would people feel if a future expansion would give Scarlett as a Legend to evoke?
I’d love to a Scarlett Spec that would introduce “Minions” as utilities for the Revenant, giving us access to many of her Clockwork monstrosities.
Perhaps the weapon could be the rifle?
Idea’s? Thoughts?
Let’s assume that ArenaNet will work on the next expansion after this one.
I’m expecting to see a LOT more content that what our current expansion is offering. The reason? They’ve laid the foundation for a lot of new content that can be easily expanded upon. So, if a next expansion would come, I’d expect…
- A lot more emphasis on new maps in PvE
- A lot more masteries to discover
- New weapons we can wield
- Fixing underwater content to be a lot more fun
- 2 specializations per profession
- More legendary weapons
- Introduction of Legendary armour and trinkets
I’m not saying our current expansion-to-come is light on content, but it seemingly does feel like it and I can’t blame the community. I think the main reason is the lack of new PvE maps. ArenaNet is definitely taking note of this all, I’m sure.
Anyway, what future specializations would you guys like?
Personally I’d love for the Elementalist to get a 5th attunement, something like “Cosmic” or “Mists”. Mists would be borderline Revenant, but what ever.
Didn’t they say this expansion lays the foundations and will make future expansions easier to do somewhere? I wonder what that was referring too?
I’m pretty sure they’ve said that about every single feature and patch since launch. So far it hasn’t helped anything.
The wardrobe function was made to be easily expanded upon in the future. It helped immensely and there is enough evidence.
The wallet function was made to be easily expanded upon in the future. It helped immensely and there is enough evidence.
The account sharing function was made to be easily expanded upon in the future. It helped immensely and there is enough evidence.
The same with specializations. And mini’s. And dyes.
Honestly, before you criticize ArenaNet, do your research. I often play RuneScape, and compared to ArenaNet, they do a lot of things inefficiently and plainly faulty (for example, they’re adding a skill that builds upon already existing, out-dated skills… If they rework the out-dated skills, they will have to rework the new skill as well.)
I’m not saying they do everything wrong. Their mantra of “We will share more when it’s ready” is ridiculous and absolutely frustrating and they BARELY talk about future plans with the community. When it comes to that, Jagex learned from it and adapted. Now we almost know everything they’re developing and we can give feedback even at conceptual stage.
Learn from your competitors, ArenaNet. But please don’t criticize them for the things they ARE doing right.
They worked on it even BEFORE the end of Season 1 living story.
Scarlett’s attempt to touch that Ley Line… Season 2’s story… Those all were decided the moment they were planning on making an expansion.
If you’re asking me, I’m 100% sure they worked on it a LONG time before they announced it. Plenty of evidence by looking at Season 1’s finale.
The Zephyrites are a secluded, zen-like organization composed primarily of humans of Canthan or Elonian descent that live in a fleet of airships, the largest of them being the Zephyr Sanctum, that roam the skies of Tyria. Their magic incorporates power from the Aspects — three forms of air magic that are stored in crystals recovered from Glint’s corpse in the Crystal Desert.
It makes perfect sense. We have a lot of contact with Zephyrites in the Dry Top, and we’re hunting for Glint’s egg… Lore and story wise, this specialisation makes perfect sense.
But what makes even more sense, is that the F-skills will change to 3 new elements:
- Wind Magic
- Sun Magic
- Lightning Magic
These elements are all focused on “air magic”, and what is a tempest? A heavy storm…
What would you think of this?
PS: Before you start saying Sun resembles Fire, Lightning and Wind resemble Air, don’t.
Creativity is never an obstacle to make these elements distinctive enough on their own. Giving this argument is ridiculous and I heavily implore you don’t use it.
I’ve heard ZOOMING OUT works wonders.
The Ultimate one is WAY too much, the 4k gems + “extra bank tab” would be enough.
Disagree. The items only have a short term effect on your character and don’t harm the economy in any way. The items that DO have a long term effect can be bought with gems… The 4000 gems can, that way, be spent on more cosmetic and useful items like eternal harvesting sickles or picks or axes.
I’d definitely pay €100 for a package like that.
You’ve got to be kidding… there is no way in hell they would offer that much. Yeah, sure it would be great, but Anet is the last place you’d get that much value for your money.
Which is what I simply don’t understand about them…
They could’ve had a LOT more people buying the €100 version if they added a lot of stuff in it.
Someone will always buy more if they get more. €100 is pushing it for an “ultimate” edition, even with the 4K gems added…
Nope, I just wait until standard is between €19.99 – €29.99. Should take half a year or so. But I’m not in a hurry since this is an ‘in dept’ upgrade, not offering a huge new world.
I’m practically doing the same thing at the moment. Just waiting for a discount.
Well.. after I leave out everything I already have, or don’t need / have interest in…
You’re a giant minority if that’s the case.
Please sir. I would like less for my money.
Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth XD
What “gift” is in the horse’s mouth then?
This whole pre-purchase fiasco was a disaster when it comes to appealing to veterans.
It’s an ulgy thing and after unlocking it’s kinda useless.
What the hell are you even talking about.

No way near enough. The ultimate should come with at least 3 legendary weapons
Yeah, thanks for the sarcasm.
I believe the site you’re looking for is “9gag”.
Unlocking LS1 and LS2 I thought is a must, but I prefer something better like other companies doing their business. For 100 € lifetime upgrades and monthly 500 Gems. STO can do this for their customers, why didn’t get A-Net this also managed.
Best solution is still the pricing peopel wanted to pay like 30 €, 45 € und 75 € but not more. And we don’t want to buy everything again at all 2 years. That’s really smells like paying a monthly fee for the game.
I completely agree. If I got 500 gems monthly with the current €100 offer, I would’ve definitely bought it!

There are 196.830 different builds with traits alone now. don’t be afraid to experiment.
Not true… That only includes 3 trait lines alone. We have 5 to choose from, remember?
I’m not good at math but what ever.
Yes, a much better idea.
Weapon skills should get adjusted to the Legendary as well, not only the Utilities…
Oh my GOD! You actually implemented this!
THIS IS AMAZING!
YOU’RE THE BEST ARENANET <333333333
I know ArenaNet stated the expansion costs €50 and the game is a bonus.
But this controvery is the source of all the rage. I’m suggesting a simple and elegant solution: for those who already have the base game, and buy the €50 expansion, give them another reward instead. I’m thinking of X laurels, Y gems or Z anything. Perhaps a character slot to make up for it?
Honestly, me and my friends aren’t buying HoT on release. We’re waiting for it to go down in price. I suggest you all do the same. If they had sold HoT ALONE for €50 then I would’ve paid the price, no problem, but they didn’t. They screwed everyone over that bought the game before HoT.
Has anyone ever read the OP? Lol.
As tragic as this is… I think it is a little bit presumptious to ask developers to do something because someone dear to you died.
Many people that play this game die. If the dev’s had to build a monument for every one of them, we’d soon be called GraveWars 2…
I often thought of buying gems. I just don’t want to spend that much money on little perks like permanent harvesters and pickaxes, or keys.
I’d love to buy it, but it’s really too expensive for what it offers.
So in order to make 500 Jeweller worth it, I think it needs some equipment with unique stats and stat boosters. With this I mean that certain parameters in-game can now be increased with trinkets only. These will become “Extra stats” that are only visible on the heroes panel when you equip this special type of trinkets. I was thinking of the following:
- Swiftness increase %
- Endurance renewal speed increase %
- Range increase %
- Fall damage decrease %
- Jump hight %
- Leap distance increase %
- Etc
These stats will only be visible when you have them, and only when you click on “More” beneath your normal stats. I’m suggesting this to give 500 Jewellery an actual use. All ascended jewels we currently can get would be useless if we could make it ourselves if more cheap version are ready-to-go.
If you have a better idea to make Jeweller 500 useful, I’m all ears. Please remain civil!
I really think you should just wait a week, then buy off the traping post. The first week there aren’t many to buy, and people have no patience, so price is high. If you can wait a week or so the price will stabilize, probably well below 100g per skin.
Ok thanks. I will buy them, I think…
Problem is that I’m so poor. I suppose I could sell my ecto’s or something.
That staff skin is mine! ^^
Hello! I usually don’t give into the temptations of the Gem Story because I do not have a lot of money to buy most of the items there, but the Scientific Staff skin is the most beautiful skin I have ever seen…
So I checked my bank and I saw I had 4 scraps, but it seems I need 10!
I was wondering how to get 6 more scraps? I usually don’t give in to this type of things but… I’ve never felt this urge to buy such an awesome looking skin before. Please don’t think I’m crazy.
All help is appriciated!
There are hundreds of hearts. They cant be that diferent. Btw there are lot of very interesting hearts
There’s lots of grindy hearts that are just plain boring to do. You feel meaningless doing these as you know you learn nothing about the world, and they will still have the same problem is you visit them 30 minutes later…
Revenant - Jack of all Trades, Master of all
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Derigar.7810
Ventari is ridiculously overpowered when it comes to healing. Up to +50% more healing when you trait correctly? Toughness based on healing power? Tanky and high healing, I don’t think other support classes can fight this…
Mallyx is what the Necromancer should’ve been in the first place. All I will say…
Jalis is tanky as ****. Protection, swiftness, lightning fields, … Mobility, stability, damage. This stance seems even better than a guardian tbh.
Why are you trying to kill the vanilla professions? Do you want to force us to use the Elite spec’s?
Data-mining showed us 5 legends for the Revenant:
- Mallyx
- Dwarf king
- Ventari
- Glint
- Shiro
I believe the 6th will be the specialisation, which totals 6 Legends.
Now, each legend has a weapon associated to it.
We’ve seen:
Axe & Mace
Hammer
Staff
Which leaves 3 weapon possibilities for us to explore. Which do you think we will get?
I’m betting on:
Shiro: Sword & Dagger
Glint: Scepter & Shield
?: ?
Shiro because he was an assassin, Glint because she was a dragon, and dragons are pretty magical (scepter) and the crystalline body of her gives her a big defensive buff (thus shield).
Idea’s?
As to them adding new dynamic events, I don’t see them doing that either. They did add a few new events a long time ago. Apparently no one noticed them (not surprising as people who ran into them probably thought they were old events they had never encountered before). This lack of response seems to have discouraged them from making new events. There was a red post a long time ago commenting on the lack of response from the players to the new events they put in. Shortly after this, they started the Living Story.
Imo, they aren’t going to rework hearts or add new dynamic events. They’ve changed the focus of the game from dynamic events to the living story and that’s where they are putting in the work.
You’re not really the most optimistic person in the world, are you?
You’re right Randulf… It would be silly of me to think they’d rework existing, functional content solely on the basis of turning it more interesting.
I’m wondering though, would it change their mind if it would attract new players a lot more easily?
Hearts were only ever meant to be a way to lure people near where events occur. They don’t need to be “fun,” they aren’t intended to be main attractions.
LOL
You’re DEFENDING boring content? Are you drunk?
Whilst sitting on the toilet, I sometimes get idea’s: today was on of those days.
The thing with GW2 hearts, is that they are short, boring quests that ask us to do a certain thing. Collect coconuts, kill these wasps, what ever. They’re boring… uninteresting and when GW2 was hyped all the way to Mars, I honestly though these “hearts” would be an adventure on their own.
This is what they should be, though. So I’m suggesting a way for Arenanet to give the game, the following:
- Interesting story lines
- More engaging contents
- People actually wanting to complete hearts instead of grinding them to just get over it
- An easy way to add more content to the game
Now, you might wonder, how could this happen? Simple: link hearts in lore, content and story. (check the attachment)
Two story lines now exist in Sparkfly Fen: The red and green one. The red one is relatively short and consists out of 5 steps, the green one out of 8.
Example for red: A hoard of undead minions are preparing an attack on the Zintl village. In 5 “heart” quests, the player discovers how this particular group of undeads are organising theirselves, how they plan on attacking, and how the player can stop them. A short storyline that gives new lore and information, with some minor personalities that give it a personal feel.
Example for green: The Stone of Hazaan, a mysterious remnant of an ancient temple, draws the undead to it. Discover why it does this, and what or who Hazaan was. In 8 steps, you can discover lore on the Stone of Hazaan, understand what makes it eminate power and discover how to use this power to defeat the hoard of undead that it has drawn.
It’s a simple and elegant proposition: it will only take some development time to implement but good god, how this would make the game much, MUCH more interesting! I would personally be up all night, playing through the different storylines and discovering the lore of the world, because at the moment, I have no kittening idea of why the Stone of Hazaan is a place of power. Just imagine the potential this method of working with hearts could give Arenanet to the players.
The lore in this game is abyssmally unreachable. You only get lore through some skill points, a few shady dialogue options with NPC’s and the personal storyline. Why not make lore a more intrinsic part of this game? At the moment, collecting A and killing B is just boring the living cats out of me. Could you imagine how new players or even veterans feel when they have to do this for the 2nd or 3th time?
Please give me your thoughts. Of course, having a member of the Arena Net developer team to answer would be even better.. (yeah right, keep wishing Derigar)
I’d just love to see them change this map into an actual usable game mode. It looks a lot of fun to play with.
Technically speaking it wasn’t going to involve 3 servers fighting over it, per se…I’m not even sure I can talk about what it would have been like…whether the map still exists or not is a completely different story. Especially since that map is from 2013, over 2 years ago, but I will say one thing…if was freaking awesome…and I’d comment on the YouTube page, but I don’t want a flaming YouTube channel just to flipping comment.
Thanks for the reply. I’m surprised nobody is interested in this at all…
You have build a gigantic map that is rotting and going to waste (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kg0E_1Ln9HA).
I don’t understand… Whilst the idea of letting 3 servers compete on this map was a silly one, I think it would have been amazing to turn it into a new PvE type environment:
Global Raiding
It would be a giant map that everyone could access through a new button on the screen, right next to PvP. People from any server could hop in and help with this monumental task. Perhaps add a few bosses inbetween big stops? It’s a general idea, but I would love such a play style. The map would be available at random time periods. As long as you participated in a number of events, you get a reward. Players that stayed for the whole ride, get a BIG, JUICY reward (perhaps this could introduce new materials that are needed for new legendaries? Or anything that is new and shiny? New, amazing skins? ANYTHING!)
I see so much potential in a giant, linear map like this. It really brings me a lot of sadness that you guys chose not to implement it in some way or another… I’m just asking to review it. You’ve put a lot of time and money into making the map, why don’t you just use it? Tweak a few mechanics, add some new additions and voila: a unique gameplay type that would glorify GW2’s position as “breaker of MMO standards”.
Please!
(edited by Derigar.7810)
It is ridiculous and unrespectful for them to expect this much loyalty from them when they say “soon” each time they announce something.
I think many a player would LOVE it for them to announce something when they actually found a release date…
I’m not disagreeing that an event would have been nice. I’m just saying that at this point asking for one won’t get us one that hasn’t already been in the pipeline a while.
How can you be so sure? Can’t I be hopeful and wonder if they might have something in the bag for us? Perhaps they can recycle older or existing events and rework it somehow…
I just don’t understand how everyone is so docile at the moment. I adored the Chinese New Year event as it gave us something to do, but that was 4 (?) months ago… Is it truly that hard from them to recycle or re-add some older content? Anything at all…?
