Very happy to see the rebuilding of Lion’s Arch. Would like to see events take place where players could assist. Even if it was simply a vendor accepting materials, maybe say Dragonite ore in return for some “Gifts of Lion’s Arch”. Or simply reintroduce a system similar to what was run during the Lost Shores. But who knows, maybe there will be something before it’s fully rebuilt. Regardless, a new Lion’s Arch is under construction. Hurray!!
Yes please! I’ve got more Dragonite ore than I know what to do with it… ;_;
If it hasn’t been programmed in already, it’s too late to program it now. Even the simplest changes take a month to do and test and this wouldn’t be a simple change. People don’t seem to have a clue how programming something like this game actually works.
+1’d this because I am a developer. I would add that it is either too late or too expensive at this point to make changes.
Also, I’d rather they be focusing on HoT right now.
-1 My dad works at Nintendo. He is a developer as well and he told me you’re wrong.
How about we let the ACTUAL developers give us facts about the development size & time frame? I’m sick and tired of people being their own experts.
It takes them a LOT less time to develop a quadrant a time, with additional events to accompany them.
You’re saying that making a WHOLE city takes less time then adding a QUARTER of a city with some events to go with them?
I beg to differ.
I don’t think you know how Game development works.
I don’t think you know how Game development works.
I completely agree!
Community events in Lion’s Arch so that we, the players, are rebuilding the city in some shape or form is exactly what I want!
Right now, I’m farming events in Silverwastes which is fun – and lucrative – but that’s pretty much all I’m doing. (And I pick up “rubble” to rebuild outposts there everyday, so…) Lion’s Arch hasn’t even been on my mind and when I waypoint over, I just pass by the npc builders without a second thought. I’m completely disconnected from the rubble of the city because I accepted awhile ago that there was nothing that players could really do about it.
But if Arena Net could just throw us a bone and create a few community events in Lion’s Arch, that would be awesome! As a player, I’d be more excited about the upcoming changes, I’d be playing more often, and I’d make sure not to miss any celebrations after the building is complete.
The events wouldn’t have to be all super involved. And the events don’t all have to be action/combat-related either. They could be diplomatic and fund-raising (like some of you have mentioned.)
Maybe we have to help calibrate the new Asura gates which actually could be combat-related if there is any issue with the gates and monsters come through. *Maybe even – surprisingly – out of a gate there is one appearance of an upcoming monster that we will see in the expansion, reminding us of what’s coming to Tyria. (Wishful thinking!)
Maybe we have to venture to all the major cities to bring back something unique that will help forge a new Lion’s Arch. Maybe we also have to bring back supplies from locations around Tyria or from bosses we kill.
Guys! Maybe we have to kill the world bosses (like the – ya know – dragons!) who each have a new unique drop which we then need to take back to Lion’s Arch. Maybe we have to create something out of all of them using the Mystic Forge!
See, there’s lots of things that just involve developing some inventory items and and some npc dialog. Very possible to avoid costing Arena Net too much development time. (Of course, they may beg to differ. I’d love to hear from a dev on this thread.)
Events after Lion’s Arch is rebuilt would be great too. We need another HOLIDAY, don’t you think? We can celebrate the new Lion’s Arch on the day it is finally rebuilt and again a year later.
Yes! Great idea’s! This is exactly what we need – make the whole rebuilding a community-involved event
Nothing too fancy but something to keep up slightly interested in the current game, as it stands now… Cuz frankly it’s becoming stale…. FAST!
YES!!! You get what I mean!
Many of my friends quit the game and are waiting for the expansion… I feel so alone at the moment !!
I just want something new to do while we wait!!
It takes them about four months to create things like you’re suggesting. I’d rather not have them stop everything for four months … I want HoT before then!
It takes them a LOT less time to develop a quadrant a time, with additional events to accompany them.
You’re saying that making a WHOLE city takes less time then adding a QUARTER of a city with some events to go with them?
I beg to differ.
And with the title, I meant stop now in following the plan as stated in the news post. We’ve been dry of new content ever since Season 2 Finale! I BEG of you – Use the Lion’s Arch rebuilding plan as a gateway to add new content!
Perhaps a quadrant of Lion’s Arch can be fixed every month, with meta events to go with each month. We visually get to see each part get fixed if enough events are completed/funds, items or materials gathered. If the part isn’t fixed by the time the next City Quadrant gets added, then players still have the choice between which quadrant they wish to work on!
Example: Month A – North-West of Lion’s Arch gets the ability to be COMMUNITY fixed.
Month B – North-East
Month C – South-East
Month D – South-West
In each month that we can fix Lion’s Arch, there are corresponding events and things to do. I think many other players would WELCOME something new to do whilst we wait for the expansion! Just see this, ArenaNet, as a chance to PROVE the players that we actually do have an impact on the world around us.
EXAMPLES FOR EVENTS IN REBUILDING LION’S ARCH: (please help suggest some for ANet, perhaps they might do it…)
- Kill some surviving minions of Scarlett that got burried. Clear the area containing them.
- A few undetonated mines have been fined all around this quadrant: Find them and bring them to the detonation site WITHOUT harming them on the way (similiar to Escort the Dolyak event).
- A few toxic spores have been festering under the ruble. Whole fields of them are toxifying the land in LA – Help purity the ground and destroy the spores & offspring.
- Some unpatient inhabitants of Lion’s Arch are having a mutiny against Ellen Keel -Find these hidden trouble makers and execute them for treachery.
- The vast sewers of Lion’s Arch are harboring some criminals that took advantage of the distraction Scarlett created – flush them out and find their leader!
- The breachmaker has some Power Cores left in it. Retrieve them before they get into the wrong hands and watch out for any surviving Steamwork minions.
- Help find the right materials in the surrounding area of which new buildings can be made of (this involves meta events around the LA map, with scientists analysing the surrounding rocks for inspection as a possible building material)
At the end of each meta, a big world boss could come out, themed to the meta events.
I don’t even care about new rewards or achievements. Just give us regular loot we can already get and copy & paste them to the drop table of the bosses. Just give us SOMETHING TO DO PLEASE <3

Hello, I have an Elementalist with full Berserker gear (all ascended).
However, I want to make an EXTREMELY tanky Ele that doesn’t necessary have to do a lot of damage.
So I was wondering if Nomad was good for this?
Suggestions on Sigils and Runes are welcome for the weapons and gear too.
Guess what name it is!
I’m personally going for either one of these:
Darksworder
Deathbringer
Evilharbinger
What’s your guess?
“Emo”
Launching dark butterflies and torturing dragon’s minion with lady gaga songs.
I will cut you for this.
Druid = A ranger that harnessed the power of the Jungle
Chronomancer = A mesmer that can use the temporal power that keeps the Jungle so still in time
Dragonhunter = A guardian that protects Tyria by killing the dragons in the Jungle
The names make sense. Dragonhunter sucks, I agree, but it makes sense.
Let’s get real here, people.
They thought for months on end about the specialisations and the theme / feel they should give. Druid fits in the Jungle theme. Chronomancer fits in the Jungle theme. Dragonhunter FITS IN THE JUNGLE THEME.
Any other “protector”-like name won’t be acceptable in the current theme. I do agree that Dragonhunter is a horrid name, but the simple fact is that they won’t change it.
Feedback about a skill being too strong will probably be implemented, theme or lore concerning things will not…
It’s idiotic to keep them scarce. They put so much time and effort into it, so it can never see the light of day again?
That’s just wasteful developing.
The point of this thread is to ask ArenaNet to give us content whilst we wait for Heart of Thorns.
The content they already created would be a lot more easier to implement instead of, saying, create a whole new patch from scratch…
Something like the Queen’s Gauntlet could easily return. I found it quite a lot of fun and the rewards were pretty good too. So why not give it to us?
I’m asking for a simple request. A lot of content has entered and left this game. Think of the Super Adventure Box, or the Queen’s Gauntlet.
I’m asking for a simple solution to give us content whilst you work on the expansion: recycle that older content.
I bet my whole 9 gold coins that you have this data still stored somewhere. So why not allow ONE developer to bring this back into the game through some kind of temporary unstable portal or what ever could make it fit in the current story line.
The reason is because me, and a lot of my friends, have stopped playing because of lack of content. The hunt for a beta portal was very fun, as a lot of people were doing SilverWastes. Now, the boredom retook its role back.
Please, ANet, give us something to kill the bore in the current game.
Content they could easily recycle: (please post below incase I forgot something, also no holiday events)
- Queen’s Jubilee
- Super Adventure Box
-
Glad to see some people agreeing!
I don’t think we’re asking for a lot
Could you please alter the circle like in pic related?
I found it confusing, and though Tornado was going to unlock first…
Would just be a quality of life edit. It seems slightly more cooler too.
Edit: Please don’t judge my artistic paint skills.
They ARE releasing stuff regularly. Strange to see this post right after they released a regular batch of hype. You might want to look into their weekly Point of Interest streams also.
They’re not going to give us notice ahead of time on what hype they release. With this batch of trolls you’d see a bunch of people complaining about Hylek blogs for a week before it actually posted if you gave them a schedule. Unfortunately the complaint trolls must be kept at bay.
How about you let ANET speak for themselves? Let’s see how often they care for these posts, and what they think about it.
Or are you getting paid for defending their system? Then I understand.
I think OP made a good point, she/he even used an example. At least I agree with her/him.
I’m just defending reason. No reason for ANet to respond to a senseless complaint thread. You can agree with OP, but I still think asking for news right after we get news and ignoring all the weekly POI videos and pretending we don’t get details about the game is a pretty sloppy arguement.
I, too, find that a sloppy argument.
Oh wait, you were referring to mine. Except that isn’t my argument at all.
I’m talking about them giving us a hype-focal point, in which that focal point gives a piece of meaty information on something MANY want to read. Frogs do not include to that, and neither does a WvW map. Specialisations are here the big attraction. Let them give us that.
So from 5 ring drops, I got only 2 types…
That’s pretty rare if you people are saying it’s “RNG”. From what I’m seeing, it’s not RNG. If my next ring will be either one of those two, then my account might just be glitched?
Is this true? I only get the ones in said attached file.
I’m hoping to get a Berserker ring sometime soon, but it seems like prestine relics will be the way to buy it.
Being silent about the progress on any product will lead to it being forgotten by the people you’re trying to attract. It should be common knowledge of any first year PR student really.
Good thing ANet isn’t silent. We get regular updates.
Next time you post, read & reply to the complete post instead of selectively quoting.
Or you and everyone who won’t shut up about hype could just realize there’s more to life than GW2…
Just increase the hype because otherwise, all this work will be for nothing.
Yeah, nothing except the metric tons of money they’re going to get from expansion sales.
You’re really a negative person at heart, aren’t you? I shall pray for you this evening.
Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is that hype makes a person keep going back to discuss the new expansion and talk about it. Hype makes your time in-game a lot more fun too. Hype is a GOOD thing, not a bad thing. I don’t see why increasing it is such a bad idea.
- Is for Arena Net to release a permanent release schedule that updates weekly on the front page. This release schedule would show the future blogs by title and the week they’ll be released in. Every week would be a blog about a small feature (a mastery track, a new race, etc…) and every month a blog about a big feature (specialisations mainly).
It could look similarly to how we’re getting our daily rewards, 6 small blogs and then one big rewarding blog.
Example:
——————————————
Coming up, in Heart of Thorns…
April week 1: Hylek sub-races
April week 2: Fractal masteries
April week 3: New enemies!
April week 4: Revenant: A new legendary.
Big news: May – Mesmer Specialisation
At least it would give players SOMETHING to look forward too. The reason Pokémon keeps selling a metric kitten ton of games every generation is because they: A) Begin hype early and B ) Maintain hype high at a constant rate. They do B ) by giving information of equal magnitude at an even rate. Every month, pokémon fans KNOW they’ll get a big batch of juicy information. It keeps the hype for weeks on end, and then the hype becomes even bigger and enthusiastic when they have to wait for the next batch of information. The hype GENERATES more hype… It’s ridiculous but it works. This is where you, Arena Net, aren’t living up too. The hype train started at the announcement. It kicked off gloriously, it was a giant raging river.
Then you let it die. The revenant blog made it spike up again, but then it just died… Current hype: a mere stream in the Andals.
The thing is, to keep a stream flowing, you need to continue supplying it with water for it to flow. You’re not doing it. And no, if you think that shady comments on how to maximize play time in the Jungle, or some cannabis addicted frog culture is going to increase hype, you’re dead wrong. Hype means big, flashy and exciting. It means changing the current grind. It means hope for fun. When I look at most of your blogs released so far, my hope for fun trickled down to an exciting new patch. Nothing more, nothing less. Why do you wonder many people are saying this expansion isn’t worthy of the lable “expansion”? It’s because we don’t know any better.
So make us know better. Hire a Hollywood action movie director for Christ’s sake. Just increase the hype because otherwise, all this work will be for nothing.
(edited by Derigar.7810)
Is anyone else bummed that there is so much lore and information on these frog people?
Nope, I have real-life concerns that far outweigh the pettiness of being bothered by a video game not going in the direction that I want it to. I strongly recommend you stop giving a kitten about it and just enjoy it for what it is, i.e. exactly what the developers want it to be.
For instance, why don’t you try to appreciate the dichotomy between the ways the Itzel and the Nuhoch approach life? There’s actually a lot you can glean from their worldviews that can be applied to your life, if you even bother to look.
Completely missing the thread, well done!
If I may butt in, I think OP is saying that another (2) new race(s) would have been better and more appealing then 2 variations of a race we already have.
You get my drift. Variations of existing races aren’t that original, as much as you try to give them “different cultures and worlds views” or what ever. It’s just… not as appealing like Monkey people as another poster said.
Is anyone else bummed that there is so much extra lore and information on ADDITIONAL Hylek tribes instead of a new, exciting race that would make sense in the lore? Yes, culturally and psychologically they’re different from the Vanilla Hylek, but still… Why did you choose to bring frogs, not once but TWICE…..?
You had the ability to add a lot of new, interesting races. Stick-insect like races, or other insect-based races. Perhaps a humanoid version of Wind riders, or an arachnoid race. WHAT EVER. Anything other than Hylek.
Truly, frogs are boring when you compare the possibility of what you could’ve done otherwise. There is NOTHING exciting about frogs.
“Oh hey Bert, did you hear about the new Guild Wars 2 expansion?”
“kitten ed if I didn’t, Bort! I heard some cool new frog people will be introduced!”
“You mean like the Hylek?”
“Oh no, silly, these are NEW! One tribe is high as f*** and the other one seems like that bully you had in middle school!
”
“You can be such an kitten sometimes Bert.”
(edited by Derigar.7810)
The only 3 additional races we may need are tengu, largos, and maybe, just maybe, whatever Razah was, as long as the character slot cap goes over 64, so players can still make all race-profession combinations. Otherwise just tengu and largos.
Tengu = Charr
Largos are just humans with permanent wings.
A reply from any of the 87 visitors to this thread would of have been NICE.
I agree. The races in this game are boring…
Norns = Humans.
Sylvari are just green humans…
The only interesting races are Charrs and Asura, because of their less-so humanoid appearance.
I’d love to see a whole diverse race like stick-insects or kittening jelly-fish like creatures, ANYTHING.
I can’t click on the banner of “Unranked Arena”. I can’t do ANYthing other than exit or enter the kitten area…
Any solution?
You’re expecting new content everyday on an MMO?
Are you some kind of alien where it was possible on that planet? Because that’s impossible.
I’d love for GW2 to be a subscription free game. But I’d definitely subscribe to a model in which you pay like a fixed amount each months, and you get additional benefits like more bank space, inventory space, new types of pets, cosmetics, etc…
Perhaps double daily rewards too? Seems a lot of fun.
First, dungeons.
Second, the “meta” builds.
Third, world bosses.
Fourth, “stack here”.
1) They learned from their errors in designing the dungeons in Vanilla GW2. If you think they’ll make the same mistake twice, you’re very wrong. They’ve said time upon time they won’t focus on current dungeons, which are doing fine, but will focus time and effort in new content (like the Aetherpath dungeon path).
2) Necromancers have their use in some niches. Also, specialisations were made specifically to give current professions a new use in other niches or other parts of the game. I can assure you that the necro greatsword spec will be a heavy DPS-dealing spec, to make up for their lack of it.
3) Same point as number 1. They learned out of this. Thinking the bosses in the Maguuma will be the same as vanilla bosses is just stupid. I don’t even understand how you think they’ll make the same bosses as now, after looking at their latest bosses like teq and the wurm…
4) Stacking is an issue? What the hell are you even talking about?
To me, this thread is just a series of uneducated guesses at the expansion. You have no knowledge of what will be appearing other than some random guesses. They obviously won’t make the same issues that exist in the current game, and if you think they will then you should start reading their blogs.
I’d love this to be implemented so much!
Equally, I’d love to see them add stationary animals that can be killed like ambient creatures, and when killed can be gathered for leather (with a sickle).
To make up for this, they should make the sickle have 100 charges like the rest.
I agree that they either need to add a method for us to harvest cloths and leathers, or they lower the amount silk needed in Bolts of Damasks.
Also, it’s ridiculous how low leather is. Why didn’t they up the amount of mats needed in Elonian square too?
Arena Net sometimes boggles my mind…
They’ve said they want to put season 1 into the format season 2 is in, but as it wasn’t designed that way it’s going to take time to reformat it. I hope it does come back….it’ll help make season 1 feel way less disjointed too.
I truly hope so. It’s a necessity if they ever want to be respectable if it comes to GW2 being a game with a good story. (Don’t get me wrong, the story is amazing! But only if you have played through season 1, which now is still temporary content)
Season zero, or the personal story line at release, is an understandable story. The story progression can be followed and it makes sense to a certain extent…
However, once this has been completed, and you start season Two, you are in the dark.
Who the hell are Kasmeer and Marjory? Who in heaven’s name is Taimi and Roxy?
These personalities are completely new and you have no idea who they are. A cutscene would make a lot of sense between these two completely different story lines… I’m glad I played parts of season 1, or else I wouldn’t understand WHAT IN DWAYNA’S NAME was happening here…
I’m just saying, it makes little sense. The immersion is… broken if you want a complete experience. People have to somehow log out of the game, watch video’s of previous events so they can understand the story before it even begins.
It’s just a shame… SO MUCH effort was put in Season 1, and little to none of it can be seen or replayed… Such a shame.
I’d love to have a build on which MOST of your damage output would be based on minions. The necro has some minions but they’re sh1!3. A summoner spec would have mainly UTILITY skills that summon good minions and a weapon with skills that also summon minions.
I’d love to have this. God if only this would be implemented I’d buy any expansion.
No. If an individual has locked his mind to the Dream or another Elder Dragon, it becomes free of its influence.
Only Sylvari that did not bind themselves with the dream got affected, so other Sylvari tribes are probably the big danger group here.
I want to thank the two kind people that send me resources for my armour and weapons. I’m so happy now! You’ve truly made my day!
To both of you, you’re the kindest persons I’ve met on a game before!
Well I made a full set of Exotic light armour, berserker stats.
Then I also made all the Exotic weapons a Necromancer can wear. I got most runes and sigils when I salvaged, so that’s not the issue. The problem is those pesky globs of ecto and vials of blood.
Derigar, I would STRONGLY recommend that you do NOTHING with this armor, and open up a support ticket and see if there is any way they can help you.
My personal experience with CS has been that for the most part, they are more than willing to help people who have made mistakes or not understood some aspect of the game.
Best of luck!
Oh my god my guild told me to salvage…
I feel like an idiot now.
?? I know with ascended gear at least it remains account-bound when applying runes or sigils. What runes did you use?
Also lol, exotic set is nowhere near a lot of money.
I’m dirt poor. It is a lot of money for me.
Why the hell does adding a Rune of Sigil to an item make it SOULBOUND?
I made an exotic zerker set for my necro on my ele (as it has maxed its crafting disciplines). I bought the runes and applied them and for some idiotic reason they’re SOULbound??? WHY NOT ACCOUNT BOUND?
You can’t believe how frustrating this is. I wasted a LOT of money on this, for nothing!!! I just don’t see the logic of making it soulbound….
Inb4: kitten you should of read the description. Not the point here… The point is why adding a kitten rune or sigil makes it SOULBOUND if you never wore it…

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gift_of_metal
I assume you never made a legendary…?
Either way, the old legendaries won’t change, neither the ways to get a precursor nor the process of crafting them, it’s only the new ones that will be slightly different.
False… The early teirs of legendary mastery let you train in making the first set of precursors. If you don’t have it yet DO NOT OVER PAY FOR IT. You can craft a single account bound precursor for each legendary once after HOT drops.
That’s a sub-gift, not a main gift… The gift of metal might very well not appear in any of the new legendary gifts.
The gift of Fortune and Mastery, will however.
The reason why is simple; they are item sinks. They are the best methods of keeping these items high in price and wanted. It makes zero perfect sense for them to be removed in the new legendaries.
So, OP, if you wanna craft already, do those two…
(edited by Derigar.7810)
New legendaries will have exact same end process of creation, requiring gifts of metal, meastery and fortune. Only “Gift of Legendaryname” will differ probably into more accountbound stuff than buyable on TP.
What metal gift are you talking about…?
Every legendary has a Gift of Fortune, Mastery, [enter legendary name] and the precursor.
No gift of “metal” or what ever.
Thanks! It worked
Anyone found a solution? Please?
If I enter a party, and I leave or get kicked, or someone else leaves… I disconnect.
I can’t play the game anymore since all the content I do relies on party-making.
Any tips?
