Btw, there is already a thread for Necro Spec name speculation.
No need to keep spamming this Death Knight crap.
Can you please, like, not?
I just posted this in another thread but it may help you too.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/I-give-up-No-Map-Completion/page/2#post4835047
Thank you… but it is completely useless when your server has been last in the rankings ever since the game launched. (/sarcasm)
But it’s true. They’re always last. Hhahahaha
Reset happened. D/D ele with max swiftness boosts.
Was not even able to get one point that I needed. This is just horrid.
In order to get map completion, I need (and I have NO idea why they even did this ridiculous thing) to have WvW map completion as well.
The problem is, Blacktide is a HORRIBLE WvW server and I never get the opportunity to get the things I need.
I check hourly whenever I can actually play the game, I’m sorry if your excuse is to “look more for when your faction holds said point”.
This is ridiculous. I feel like I need to buy a server swap just to get my World Completion…
UPDATE: Today after the reset, yet again, I was still not able to get my required points and probably never will. Arena Net, I really hope you will fix this horribly designed piece of content.
(edited by Derigar.7810)
Is it just me or are we getting less ecto/rare salvaging rates?
I mean, it’s ridiculous. The last 30 rares gave me 15 ecto’s or so? Is that even normal?
And this has been going on for quite a while, really.
Could we PLEASE get them soon? My OCD tells me I need to have a full set of Ascended gear for my elementalist, and the only thing missing is my breather…
Please don’t mock me. OCD is a serious condition.
Ok, thank you very much
Hello. I just made an Ascended Focus and Scepter, and I was wondering if I can use the same sigil on both?
I want a sigil of Force on both, is that possible…? Or should I pick bloodlust if Force can’t be taken twice?
It’s silly and quite frustrating to carry these items when they are obviously used as a currency. I don’t see why it would be an issue to make them wallet-storable. If we need them as an item for crafting recipes, allow us to buy them from Melani for a 1:1 ratio, in which we get the same item, only as an item.
It’s ANNOYING to carry them all the time. It clogs up your inventory if you need them in large quantities. I hope this change will be considered because this game does things right 99% of the time, but some things you really need to listen to the community for.
Thanks!
So it has been almost confirmed that the Necromancer will be able to wield a Greatsword. This gave me food for thought when it came to naming the specialisation and the new ability this would allow.
My idea is that, whilst wielding a Greatsword, the Necromancer’s light armor will temporarily gain Heavy armor stats, making him, effectively, a real death KNIGHT. This would give the Necromancer a truly tank-y specialisation, whilst still allowing for DPS or other roles if it would change weapons.
What would you find about a specialisation like this?
They said a map completion will award Mastery Points. Should I wait before I get my map completion or should I just go ahead and risk it?
A developer answer would be very helpful!
Still looking for a guild!
This has been bugging me since the game was released. Plant harvesting has the most limited use of all three gathering types. Would it hurt so bad to throw in some cotton and other plants for us to harvest? It’s okay for plants to serve more crafts than cook.
Completely agree. It’s just mind boggling why they don’t give light armor profession a chance to make everything themselves too.
I have found some info on the net, I don’t know if it is true, but oh well. I’ll post it because I find it interesting as hell! (I hope I’m not breaking rules, this is all fake for all we could know)
Guardian: Longbow: They are trying to put a “stance” on it, and it will change the way your skills work based on which stance you’re in. Here are the skills:
1. Puncture Shot (DPS Stance): Fire an arrow which pierces enemies, damaging them and causing vulnerability.
1. Puncture Shot (Support Stance): Fire an arrow which pierces enemies. When the arrow passes through an ally it will heal them for a small amount.
2. Light Arrow (DPS Stance): Charge up energy, creating a powerful attack which pierces through enemies.
2. Light Arrow (Support Stance): Charge up energy coating your arrow with light, causing it to heal allies which it passes through.
3. Symbol of Battle (DPS Stance): Fire a slow arcing arrow which explodes on impact, burning targets and searing a symbol of battle into the ground.
3. Symbol of Battle (Support Stance): Fire a slow arcing arrow which explodes on impact, healing allies and searing a symbol of energy into the ground.
4. Protector’s Chain (DPS Stance): Fire an arrow attached with a chain of light. The chain will attach itself to the target, pulling in and crippling other nearby enemies.
4. Protector’s Chain (Support Stance): Fire an arrow attached with a chain of light. The chain will attach itself to the target, knocking back and crippling other nearby enemies.
5. Zealot’s Retribution Stance: Zealot’s Retribution Stance changes your weapon skills to damage and debuff enemies.
5. Protector’s Light Stance: Your longbow skills focus on supporting and aiding allies.
Engineer: Hammer:
1.
(A) Friction Swing: Swing your hammer and gather heat.
(B) Heated Swing: Swing your hammer again, gathering more heat.
(C ) Blasting Cap: Smash the super heated hammer into the ground, detonating the blasting cap on its tip.
2. Nerve Sap: Spin and leech speed, crippling nearby foes. Gain swiftness for each foe hit.
3. Sonic Uppercut: Swing your hammer, launching a sonic wave in a line that launches foes back towards you.
4. Rocket Rush: Slide forward and collide with your target, leaving behind a line of fire that burns foes. Immobilizes on impact.
5. Surgical Strike: Point and drop an explosive rocket on the target area.
You might want to tone down how abrasive and confrontational your post is. That said, you can buy a cloth ‘node’ for your home instance.
Don’t know if they’re still selling it though.
I don’t think my post was confrontational or abrasive at all. I’m just expressing that I’m slightly irate that as an Elementalist, I need to pay 5x as more for my ascended armour.
Why can we not harvest silk from plants (by extracting them from caterpillars on them) or get Linen from the flax plant?
I don’t think it takes much effort to add cloth harvesting nodes in-game. It would be a very good step towards balancing the mats needed for Ascended gear as well. Bolts of damask is ridiculously expensive compared to the squares and bars…
You say you listen to the community? How about now?
Hello, I’m looking for a guild that often completes guild events.
Message me if you got the stuff!
Further specs:
- EU,
- I do enjoy PvE, PvP and WvW alike
- I’m more of a bipolar player, being casual at times and hardcore when I have the time
- I’m in Blacktide
Hopefully I’ll get some messages in-game!
(edited by Derigar.7810)
I don’t care about salvaging them.
I just want an auto delete option in my bags.
I’m addicted to salvaging and I spend more time deleting sigils/runes than I do salvaging :II was actually going to come on to the forums and suggest this xD
Haha, great minds think alike?
No, but on a serious note, I’d love to see Ascended jewellery enter the game at some point. I think this solves 2 problems if we could salvage sigils and runes.
My reasoning is that if the ascended chest is supposed to be greatly desirable and rewarding, then your sense of accomplishment when getting it shouldn’t be diminished by the need to spend a ton of gold on an insignia to get stats that you can use.
If I’m going to get good loot once every blue moon, let it be actually good, no strings attached.I’d like to see all ascended chests existing in game become of the kind you get from the Bioluminescence achievement (minus the transmutations charges, of course). That would make the most sense for me. You double click, and pick the stats of the chest inside the chest.
A cheap mystic forge recipe can be a good compromise, but I maintain that getting loot shouldn’t feel punishing. Also, this wouldn’t diminish the rarity of Ascended gear. Unless you meant “rare” in the sense that Ascended needs be exclusively for people who can afford to buy/craft an insignia, but in that case I’d have to disagree.
As much as I’d like this to happen, I just can’t see it. Ascended gear that you get for free, with the wrong stats, just needs to have some kind of “compensation” for if you want to get the stats you want. Keep in mind that ascended gear costs about 120G sometimes, in the case of Light armour.
World completion doesn’t include any dungeons. Its the entire exploration of PvE* + WvW maps, thats all.
*minus Southsun Cove and, for the time being, Silverwastes and Dry Top.
I’ll be VERY disappointed if they decide to add those three maps to the world completion.
Perhaps World completion Tier 2? But not the one we still got from release.
Instead of an insigna, which is very expensive, I’d put a certain quantity of the respective T5 material (or a tiny quantity of the T6).
Yes it is expensive, but it balances out a lot, wouldn’t you agree on that?
I feel that Ascended gear should remain very rare, and this method would just eliminate the useless gear we receive from it.
I really like that idea.
I myself have a guild bank slot just for runes and sigils. Though I only safe the exotic ones, I sometimes sell the rares on the tp for a bit more coins, and the masterwork ones just… thank god the merchants have unlimited amounts of 16 copper
Hahaha, yeah I myself to tend to sell them. I’m just happy there are many a merchant strewn around the world. I just feel that we could have a better use for them but salvaging them doesn’t seem the answer.
They explained that Living season one would return in the same vein as season two (i.e. episodic content at around 200 gems apiece). A timeline as to when this would occur was not given.
“Also, because Season 1 of Living World was not built with the Journal in mind, it will not be available in the story Journal on initial launch when Season 2 begins. We do hope to add Season 1 to the Journal in the future”Taken from https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-story-journal/
That is very interesting! I just hope we won’t have to pay for it on release, but we can unlock it (like Season 2 worked).
I still don’t understand why they don’t let us salvage ascended. (or why they refuse to even comment on it) I mean if it has a bad stat combo and just collects dust it would have been better to get an exotic drop. That in itself is kind of sad.
I’m personally getting very frustrated with ArenaNet refusing to answer many issues the community is forced to suffer through, such as the Ascended drops issue…
Is it so hard to tell us “We’re working on something” or “we’re not talking about it at the moment”….
Hmm doesn’t seem like this would be very popular among players.
Hmm, can we drop sigils/runes in the mystic forge? Would be kind of nice to be able to at least try to upgrade weak sigils/runes/seals/etc into better ones.
Although salvaging them into materials could be good too…or perhaps both?
Well we can upgrade them through the mystic well, but I tested it a week ago, and it’s a useless undertaking…
That would be awesome.
I got 2 ascended chests so far I cant use either.
I refuse to play the game the way random drops force me to.
Agreed!
One of the rare encounters in PvE where condi cleanse and stability is useful.
Fear is fine, it promotes group support and smart play. The fact that Jormag is a giant HP bag like most world bosses, though…
It doesn’t promote anything. Getting hit by fear doesn’t hurt the chance of success and dodging or cleansing it doesn’t lessen the chance of failure. It’s simply a nuisance, nothing more. And if it exists solely to annoy players, why is it in the game at all?
I completely agree. We shouldn’t toggle walk for Jormag as a game mechanic… that’s ridiculous.
I’m just asking for a cool down on his fear.
Can you PLEASE give his fear a cool down… It’s VERY infuriating to get fear back to back to back to back to back to…
I’m asking for a simple fix.
I’m happy this is seeing some positive reactions! I have no use for my Mathilde’s weapon chest at the moment…
Could we please get the ability to change an Ascended weapon or armour chest into the stat combination that we want?
The way I see it, it could be done like so:
1) You receive a “Mathilde’s weapon chest”
2) You wanted a “Zojja’s weapon chest”
3) You put the Mathilde’s weapon chest together with a mystic forge stone, mystic coin and Zojja’s inscription.
(with armour, you but an Insignia)
And voila! You can get any ascended item you want.
If not, please allow us to salvage ascended weapons for Vision crystals or the other components needed to craft said item.
Hello all, as we harbour a salvaging culture here in Guild Wars 2, we undoubtedly receive many useless sigils, runes, crests and more when trying to get some materials.
So, the annoying part is, we cannot bank sigils. They have to be destroyed or sold by an NPC. What I’m suggesting is simple…
Allow us to salvage sigils, runes and crests for new types of materials.
These new materials received by them will be used to make ascended jewels by the level 500 Jewelcrafter.
- Sigils will drop Magnificent dust (or something, the names are irrevelant). These will be akin to Bloodstone dust.
- Runes will drop Adamantine shards. These will be akin to Dragonite ore.
- Crests, medallions, seals, talismans and marks will drop Elusive coating. These will be akin to Empyreal fragments.
Salvaging them will not always yield the new mats, but if you get one, you get only 1 piece (because there are TOO many of these useless items in-game).
Making them into useable mats requires 100 pieces like the bricks, ingots and stars.
I’m expecting them to be slightly less difficult to get as they are with Fractals at the moment. The amulets and accessories of course will require a lot more effort since they are laurel-locked.
Also, perhaps we could get a refund by returning out laurel-bought ascendeds?
Give me some feedback on how you’d like this!
(edited by Derigar.7810)
I’d LOVE to be able to DE-ACTIVATE waypoints and get mounts. I’d absolutely love that so much.
Hello all. We all have our reasons to play Guild Wars 2 once we did most of the story, as we’ve set ourselves (consciously or not) some goals!
I’d like to know what goals you guys have at the moment, as I’m interested in what other people are “working for” in-game! That sense of accomplishment is just an addiction to me.
To me, my goals at the moment are:
- Get full ascended weapons for my Elementalist (?)
- Get full ascended Berserker armor for my Elementalist (?)
- Get 70 Agony Resistance
- Get all runes and sigils
- Get full ascended amulet, rings and accessories
- Get Mawdrey to full version
- Get the Bifrost
- Dual incinerators
- The rest of the legendaries for my elemental
I know this is a very big goal list, but I feel that I need goals in a game, or else I’ll stop playing for lack of “knowing what to do”.
So, what are your goals?
(edited by Derigar.7810)
Honestly, how many of you would’ve rather seen an expansion pack?
Living story gives us:
- Free updates
- Every 2 or so weeks
- Small amount of contentAn expansion pack gives us
- Paid update
- All updates in one big batch
- Massive amount of contentNow, I don’t want to sound like an ungrateful person, but I’d rather have paid for an expansion pack. Why? Because I would have loved to see a new profession, race, a lot of new lands and more! Me and friends have been speculating the Chronomancer ever since before release. We were all very sad when it didn’t come as we were wanting to make a video series about “Back to the Future”. Alas…
If you got an expansion, I think you would still complain. You would get it done in 1 – 2 weeks then whine. But your post makes you sound ungrateful. Rather than saying, I really like the game but… then being as constructive as possible. Your post was one big whine. As we don’t know what is in store for us, in this LS2, we can’t say anything right now. You have assumed a lot.
I wonder how many got the hint dropped A.Net dropped in the beginning LS2 story. The hint was the Zephyrites are disciples of Glint. That is a HUGE hint drop.
God I do enjoy being right. :’)
Hello all. As a player that bought GW2 in the middle of Season 1, I had no idea what on earth all those events were so most of the time I just did my own thing and tried to stick to my personal story, as I didn’t understand a thing.
Now, a year later, Season 2 has been released and I’m patiently (but eagerly) waiting for the Heart of Thorns!
The problem is, I never understood why this “scarlett” figure plays such an important role in the Guild Wars world. Yes, I can read summaries but it’s not the same. Reading is not the same as experiencing a character.
So I looked up Season 1 and noticed that Arena Net somewhere said they were bringing Season 1 back. I was simply wondering if this is still the case or not.
(For the record, saying that the global zerg spam-fests make it impossible for them to bring it back, I beg to differ. They could easily make it map-instance and dramatically lower the difficulty so that it becomes solo-able.)
I feel it can be called an expansion if the new content is roughly 20% of the original package.
I feel that this expansion does near 20% in content (in comparison, of course).
We’ll have to see. If this expansion only offers a map as small as Orr or something (in terms of explorable area’s) then I don’t expect it to sell well…
Expansions should IMPRESS players, not leave them disappointed and craving for more.
Hey folks,
Now that the HOT is out of the bag, we’re able to update this thread with more details. With the introduction of the new account based mastery system for end-game progression and growth in PvE, we’ll also be re-evaluating our other systems of character progression to ensure they match our over-all pillars and goals for Gw2.
In doing so: we’re going to be removing the current trait unlocking system currently on live and replacing it with a more simplified system that supports where skills-traits-specializations are going in the future. We’ll go into more details between now and the release of HOT on how skills, traits, and specializations will work in the new Gw2 world.
Thank you for all your passionate feedback on this topic – it not only helped our dev team lead to this decision, but has played a large role in helping us define how to build our exciting new account based mastery system for end-game progression in PvE as well.
You have no idea how happy this makes me, and a lot of other people.
You truly do listen to your community! (albeit it taking quite a time… But hey, we’re seeing change!)
I’ll see if we can give more than a wink and a nudge about this sometime soon.
I was thinking last night when I did one of the vistas — yes, I can’t get enough of vistas! — that I’m so looking forward to LA returning to its former beauty. On the other hand, I know how much the devs have on their respective plates, so I’m trying to be real patient.
Would be a very fun Living Patch if we could have world events that would fix parts of Lion’s Arch. Efforts would count server-wide and after X-resources are gathered or X-events are completed, we would have restored a part of Lion’s Arch.
Such a world event could last for months if they choose so, and thus the community would choose the rate at which LA would get restored back to its former glory!
Guardian is a melee spellcaster. All the light professions Mesmer, Necro, Elementalist, can use melee weapons, but they aren’t as up close and personal as a melee class.
That’s not entirely true… Elementalist D/D can get quite up and close. But if you want a heavy-damaging up-close profession that mainly deals with close-range, Guardian is the go-to profession. Especially if you like magic-y type of stuff.
Can anyone tell me how to get Tomes of Knowledge in bulk? I want to level it to level 60 so I can at least get all WP’s the fast way without dying constantly in the higher level area’s.
I’m not sure of the fastest way but I’d say SPVP is really easy. I’ve been playing to get a full glorious armor set and I’ve received tons of tomes and scrolls this way.
Thanks! Will give it a shot.
Inquisitor[Mesmer]: Using various conditions or boons to punish actions by enemies. Dagger?
Ooh, I like Inquisitor! Could use magic of “Fate” to decide damage or something crazy.
Specializations! Our classes will be able to become a new and exciting “sub profession” with this mechanic! I’m very pumped about this and can’t wait to discover the rest! So I created this thread to speculate and find out what the community wants their profession to specialize in!
Now, it has not been confirmed that profession A will only have 1 specialization. It may have multiple specializations, so go crazy with your idea’s!
At the moment, the following specializations are confirmed or speculation. Weapons confirmed will be added next to their name:
Heavy
- Warrior
None confirmed
- Guardian
None confirmed
Paladin: More emphasis on healing others and dealing DPS.
- Revenant
None confirmed
Summoner: Specializing in many spiritual legends from the past and dealing mainly DPS through them.
Medium
- Engineer: Greathammer
None confirmed
- Ranger: Staff
Druid: Will use staves and is more magically attuned to nature.
- Thief
None confirmed
Assassin: Using more melee weapons and heavy use of obscurity.
Pirate: Heavy use of rifles and guns.
Light
- Elementalist
None confirmed
Pyromancer: Specialize in the power of Fire!
Aquamancer: Specialize in the power of Water!
Geomancer: Specialize in the power of Earth!
Aeromancer: Specialize in the power of Air!
Misceromancer: Specialize in combining the 4 elements, creating Lava, Mud, Steam, … spells abilities! (Miscere is latin for combining)
- Necromancer: Greatsword
None confirmed
Death knight: Using great swords and berserker tactics.
- Mesmer: Shield
None confirmed
Chronomancer: Using time to manipulate the enemy.
Inquisitor: Using various conditions or boons to punish actions by enemies.

Can anyone tell me how to get Tomes of Knowledge in bulk? I want to level it to level 60 so I can at least get all WP’s the fast way without dying constantly in the higher level area’s.
I just came back after a while, and mainly played on my main who is maxed.
Today, I decided to give my level 36 a try. What I found shocked me.
Traits now need mini-quests to complete? Are you kidding me?
Why on earth did you do this? Do you have any idea how new players will react to this? As a veteran, I truly detest this. Traits should be like skills. I would be ok with Grandmaster traits to require some mini-quest, like do Jumping puzzle A, or complete map B, but all traits?!
I really recommend you fix this “mess” you created. Especially now with the expansion pack that will bring in loads of new players. This is NOT fun content. Not at all…
(I know I’m very late with this, but I just found out. So please bare with me.)
Was creating a thread really needed? You could have said thank you on a thread she recently posted on. I’m sure she knows how appreciated and loved she is on the forums, haha.
Does that mean that future professions wont be a viable possibility? I’m EXTREMELY excited for the Revenant, but I’m simply wondering if you guys are writing of future professions (I’m talking about in 3-4 Years).
Also, any information of the future of more races?
Thank you and I cannot wait for the expansion!
Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns will be released when it’s ready.
It’ll be ready in Q3 this year, no?
That’s what your spoilor-y income predictions tell us
