Thief, Critical Dmg with Signet

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Deus Fatorum.2473

Hello Guild Wars Forum,

some friends and me did some math with thief ferocity and precision and get something weird/bug.
First some facts:
My Thief has ingame, with full asc. gear on berserker and without any buff/signet/food, 49.76%/1961 Crit-Chance and 220.7%/1061 Crit-Dmg.
With the Trait in Crit-Strike “Practiced Tolerance” i got 233.8%/1257 Crit-Dmg.
Now the weird thing:
If i use “Signet of Agility” (+180 Precision), i got 58.33%/2141 Crit-Chance. BUT Ferocity doesnt change. According to the Trait you have to get more Ferocity, if your Precision goes up, but as you see it doesnt. We tested it with Food (Plate of Truffle Steak +70 Precision); with the precision of the food and the trait i got more ferocity.

So maybe there are some mistakes in Gw2-calculation?

I have noticed this too with any trait that says “gain X stat based on % of X stat” it seems to calculate based on base stats. Food, Gear, Runes etc seem to affect the base stats, as where signets just seem to modify/buff it(or so it would appear, not 100% on this)

Try the same thing with Warrior’s Armored Attack trait and Dolyak Signet and you will not get more power from dolyak signet.

Also seem to remember traits like guardians Strength in Numbers, and warrior banner’s not affecting traits like armored attack, and practiced tolerance, but that would need to be double checked.

[Suggestion]Community Reward System

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Deus Fatorum.2473

Deus Fatorum.2473

One thing I love about GW2 over games like league of legends, is the community. I mostly PvP, but there is other group content such as dungeons where you meet great people. However I see no system in place to keep this great community other than block and report features however, and with the new X-Pack likely to bring an influx of new players I would love to see a way to reward and acknowledge awesome players that bring things to the community.

My suggestion, have a sort of reward system where after a PvP match, or a dungeon or other group content, you can have an option to “promote player” or something like that. Basically a way to say this was an awesome player, who made the content better. After X number of promotes you could get a stack of a buff(similar to bloodlust sigil) max of 25 that increased stuff like magic find, crafting/gathering/xp/reward track bonuses and gold find, or maybe another reward system like a title or achievement system. More so this would let people know that the player is active with the content and people enjoyed playing with him. Sort of a tip of the hat to the people that make the GW2 community great.

Also would do you guys think? What reward if any would you like to see people get?

Just my 2 cents for the X-Pack

Duo Partner with Warrior

in Warrior

Posted by: Deus Fatorum.2473

Deus Fatorum.2473

Alright, so my buddy decided to go warrior. I am wondering what sort of duo partner options go well with the different warrior builds. We would like to do pve content, but we will probably end up focusing more around pve, 5 man groups as well as 2v2. I also play a lot by myself. I’m torn on what to play. Thief and engi seem cool because I love Medium armors. I don’t want to play thief, and engi seems a little wonky of a playstyle for me with all of the kit switching. I also have guard in mind a well as elementalist.

tldr: what class synergizes well with a warrior in all aspects of the game: pve, 2v2 pvp, group pvp, etc.

Leave me your comments below, and feel free to debate your comp choices. I will be trying out the classes suggested.

For PvP depends on the warrior build. Shoutbow and Hambow pair better with higher damage builds like thief and power necro, as you either offer sustain to your allies, or stunlock the enemy leaving them open to being burst down. However if you run a zerker GS warrior you want another bunker like another hambow or bunker guard as you will want someone bunking the point/taking hits as you use your burst and mobility to go from point to point destroying things.

Deus Fatorum.2473

I find that if played correctly, Shotbow can beat most builds 1v1. It may not be fast

Problem here is a good team will have reinforced the point long before you are likely to kill someone 1v1(typically home and far fights) and usually shout bow is better served on a point with other teammates. than bunking home or assaulting far.

[Read the TL;DR if you don’t want to read the wall of text]

---1--I could never get in melee range of my enemies, and they always kited me to my death. ---

---2--After trying a variety of the build all over the internet, shoutbow, GS/LB and a few I tried to create, I could never contribute to my team.---

---3--I never won a 1v1.---

---4--I tried playing a few other classes, necromancer and ranger were the most common. And I dominated at them.---

---5--I’ve tried Guardian also, and I run into the same roadblock, I’m always kited to my death and unable to kill anyone.---

I don’t want to dismiss the warrior just because of my inability to get in melee range of my target, as it seems like such a pitiful reason to leave.

TL;DR How do I play a warrior in PvP without being kited to death as a warrior?

Addressing some of the points in your post.

---1--- A few things, first in spvp especially 1 on 1 scenarios warriors have some of the biggest tells in the game, this does not make them unusable, many warrior abilities are all really strong if used properly, but many will be dodged. Essentially having knowledge of the other classes and their evades/dodges will greatly help you here. In a 1v1 scenario you will need to be prioritizing certain abilities later in your rotations to increase the chance they are not dodged due to lack of enemy evades.

For the kited part Warriors have many great gap closing abilities such as Hammer 3, Hammer F1, Longbow 5, Sword 2, and Shield 4, In addition the Leg Specialist Trait can be used in many builds to help close distance and keep a close distance if needed.

Lastly the death part, Glass warriors are very high risk as warriors due not have the same level of evades escapes as other glass builds(You become a very hard hitting sitting duck) hence why hambow and shoutbow tend to do well. Hambow offers CC to a team and it is that CC that becomes the warriors sustain with healing signet. For example Hammers burst can stun someone for 2 sec and can be followed by an aoe knockback for about 3-4sec of CC this is essentially a 1,500 heal with healing signet(375*4). Also get out of the habit of using the heal as a general rule when pressured with warrior as it is a bad burst heal with a huge drawback as you lose sustain equal to twice what you healed for.

---2--- Warriors can contribute a ton to a team but it is not always as noticeable as playing ranger and wiping a point. Warriors have some amazing utility and are generally a point holder/supporter. Look at shoutbow, you will hit like a wet noodle compared to a ranger but your ability to hold and help the team sustain a point is huge! Do not expect to be getting top kills all the time tho. Hambow offers nice CC and a steady source of pressure on points and usually have great stability and self sustain making them great home and mid bunks.

---3--- as said in the first point you have very big tells, also 1v1 does not equal winning a team fight, look at shoutbow for example it when faced with other players running other meta builds (d/d ele, turret or kit engis, medit guard, power necro etc.) assuming they are competent will not typically do well(unless the build is squishy and relies on condis), but make it a 2v2 and pair the shoutbow with a ranger, theif, necro, etc. and the tables will turn. While warrior can be an amazing 1v1 machine for someone not used to spvping with warrior it can be a very harsh place to start. Try 2v2ing or3v3ing with guildies and start with shoutbow.

---4--- Ranger is an off point sniper typically, and offers a very different playstyle than warrior so would not compare the two. Necro on the other hand while lacking mobility has very decent mid-range abilities as where warrior is typically used in melee.

---5--- Both guard and warrior are heavily used in melee and are used as point holders, which is a different mindset from say thief or power ranger. the thief is not supposed to stay on a point, keep it de-capped and die on point in the same fashion as a warrior, thiefs and rangers are better at killing and then getting out and reinforcing other points, as a warrior is not expected to break from fights as much, if they die they are to die on point until the bitter end whilst assisting with CC’s, Shouts, etc. so that the theifs and rangers can effectively do their jobs. While not always that simple in complicated team fights that is generally the mindset.

Hopefully that helps, also I would recommend giving shout bow another go, but emphasize your usefulness in teamfights not 1v1’s.

Also sorry for wall of text...

Help With My Warrior

in Warrior

Posted by: Deus Fatorum.2473

Deus Fatorum.2473

My favorite tank/dps build for me is a condition build.

Lots of condition damage gear comes with either toughness or vitality, as the crit gear is either full offense(Berserkers – Precision/power/crit damage)or less crit chance with some vitality(Valkyrie- Vitality/power/crit damage)

To make a crit damage warrior you need at least crit damage, crit chance, and prefferably some power. Though burst damage, Burst recharge, and damage increase stats(like sigils of force) are also nice. What this means is crit warriors can’t afford to stack as much of the tanky stats, without hurting their dps.

However condition warriors only really need condition damage to do damage. It helps to have lots of it, but other stats like vitality, toughness, and healing power can be thrown in. You can also get condition duration through food, look up Koi Cakes on the tp, they are dirt cheap.

I sometimes stack precision for crit chance as many sigils and traits proc conditions on critical hits, however this is not 100% necessary.

Other builds to look into would be hammer builds, or other builds that utilize CC like maybe some builds using maces, and shields.

Nice build, but I think Tati and Wenova were trying to RP you into submission. I think they’re both in LOVE as well, idk.

Maybe, but throughout the video there were 4 JQ that were attacking me. Other JQ were chiming in. So that only explains about a little less half the video.

Also in the very end some of the SoS from the zerg attacking SW Tower also peeled off and started attacking me.

Tee hee You were really tanky, there was not much my build could do against you . So I did what I do best and that’s showing Tarkus how to costume brawl. :p

NP, made it quite fun. I realized once you turned into a skeleton it wasn’t really serious anymore. =P

Sure I am tanky, but roaming with that build is truly pointless. It is really meant for zerg fights which is what I use it for mostly. At the time we had about 6 people on the entire map, so there was no point in being serious.

Look forward to more zerg open field fights!

Most useless class in WvW?

in WvW

Posted by: Deus Fatorum.2473

Deus Fatorum.2473

Ambient Creature is by far the worst, probably also the most bugged class too.

There is this one particular bug where everything one shots them. Not to mention due to the animations, they experience horrible lag and usually appear to be in an idle position.

Also before BETA the devs felt ambient creature was far to powerful, so they had locked all of their skills until they got it sorted out. After a while they realized everyone who was playing ambient creature although doing the lowest in damage of all the classes also had taken the least damage of all the classes.

In an attempt to balance this, they added the ambient killer to the achievements, however it wasn’t enough, so now they are only letting AI control the ambient creature class, until they finish sorting things out.

Now Ambient Creature has officially become the worst class, why couldn’t they make it less OP and unbalanced to start with, instead of nerfing it to the ground.

Heck we even have a battle cry lol. True server transfers and band wagons are definitely in WvW and a problem, and true we have had the occasional TC’er leave, and rarely a guild, but we have also had some of our top commanders offered buckets of gold again and again by higher tier servers(T1), and refuse to leave TC.

So you can’t tell me server pride doesn’t exist… well at least it is there on TC.

WvW queue takes way too long...

in WvW

Posted by: Deus Fatorum.2473

Deus Fatorum.2473

I think the issue rests in how the “Queue” works. First off the queue is due to the number of players from your server active in the borderland(there is a player cap) you are queuing for, note just the borderland you are queuing in, for example EB can be queued while your BL is not. (this is not the problem)

The issue starts when many people enter the “queue”, as it is not a traditional queue.
If 5 people queued before you this does not mean after those 5 get in you do. I have queued many times and took me hours to get in while I watched many guildies after me queue and get in within minutes. What this means is the are using a random number generator of sorts, so imagine you enter the queue as the 15th person every x interval your name is pulled out of a hat, so to speak, if people are constantly entering the queue you could get in sooner, or depending on your luck it could take forever.

If you are having trouble queuing try queuing/entering other BL’s, as their is a good chance that BL is full, but another is open, or has a much shorter queue.

Does this mean if I do not do a certain JP, or earn a certain achievement I will miss out on owning this ability?

When was the last time you looked at an LS achievement list? The meta’s are beyond easy to get. The time factor for having to do the dailies is a pain, but since you can spend 15 min a day doing only the daily category for the current LS, OR do the normal achieves in few hours, it really shouldn’t be a problem.

Then of course, we have no idea what this content is. It may be perm and the ability may always be around. Or it may only require you to show up at the door to get it. We really have no idea.

True, but there are weeks I do not really have time to log in and do anything at all between real-life and college.

Just hoping it is more like a log-in during event and get it automatically sort of thing.

Also this goes beyond just me, if someone has to go out of town for a work related trip and is unable to get this ability, they will be kitten ed.

Unbalanced Heal Skill

Posted by: Deus Fatorum.2473

Deus Fatorum.2473

What’s bothering me is not necessarily how OP it is going to be, as I do believe that it is to early to tell.

I am particularly bothered by it being under the “Rewards” tab of a living story event. Unlike the mad king runes, which you can buy off of the TP, this is an ability. Does this mean if I do not do a certain JP, or earn a certain achievement I will miss out on owning this ability? Assuming that toxin is a new condition, this will be a skill guaranteed to remove it on all classes.

Being a college student(in a competitive program) I do not necessarily have time every week to game, and I cannot control what weeks I am slammed(all depends on what assignments are thrown at me that week.) I would be pretty upset if I end up busy that week and am unable to get a useful ability in this game until possibly next Halloween or longer.

Class imbalance in WvW

Play what you want and have fun doing it!

In WvW every class has plenty of stuff they can do. Sure there are the metas like the stun-locking warriors, but I have run with and fought all sorts of fun and interesting builds that rocked in their own way. Sure there are also the occasional players that always seem to get steamrolled no matter what they do, but that is not as common as these forums may get you thinking.

Also duly note that just because someone runs one of the so called top builds does not mean they are in anyway a good player. Just because you may have arranged your traits based on some meta-build you found will not make you a top player, it may help, but you yourself have to be good at playing this build.

If you find a build boring and not fun for you to play, do not play it, simple. This is a game, and games are supposed to be fun. If the game is not fun, stop playing, and do some other task you find not fun that would also be productive, like maybe studying, or doing a project for work you have been putting off. Then when you want to have fun and relax, play the game… and have fun and relax.

Just my 2 cents

BTW the last concept seems awfully foreign to some people, so if you find it obvious I am not trying to be insulting.

Deus Fatorum.2473

OK, so first I had at the time of this hit 2,000 toughness and roughly 25k health(about the same seen in screenshot.) Also at the time of the hit I had fully repaired armor, and no vulnerability.

What happened, I am going into a camp while my zerg was fighting the camps NPC’s, I also noticed an enemy invader was on a ballista pointing at my zerg. I attempt to quickly take out the ballista, however the enemy invader noticed and turned the ballista around. Next thing I noticed I have gone from 25k health to downed in one hit. Confused I asked my zerg what could do that damage(no conclusive response). It wasn’t until slightly later I decided to check my combat log, and there it was a 30.1k hit from spread-shot.

My question is does this seem like a standard amount of damage from a close up hit with spread shot? If not what caused it do you think(if it is not a usual number, I would like to not jump to Hacking/Botting conclusions until the very end.)

Not trying to QQ here or start a QQ thread, I am just not sure if this is a usual or to be expected occurrence, so I can plan for it in the future.

For me it is landing satisfying Killshots with my rifle.

In particular when an annoying thief who is low on health gets overconfident, and decides to stealth and back stab me to quickly end the fight after I cast Killshot, but fails to realize that my Charzooka, the largest rifle model in the game btw(this thing is bigger than my Charr who is wielding it) is automatically pointing to his location, and following his movements(as Killshot does if cast on a target even if they stealth) and promptly pops out of stealth a dead thief.

The other thing I very much enjoy as a Warrior, is the axe 5 ability.

If someone I am attacking uses stealth, I love to use axe 5, and watch them pop out dead. It is also nice when a Mesmer decides to spawn clones, and I use axe 5 to kill them and their clones(why choose when you can just kill them all!)

Thought I would share my build.

Axe/Axe + Rifle
http://intothemists.com/guides/1297-permafury_build

The idea, like many others in this thread, to get better damage without going glass cannon. The nice thing about my build, is that there is less pressure to go full zerker to do good damage. You can easily replace a fair bit of the zerker gear in this build and still be doing fair damage.

However being the kind to love big numbers, I am running the most DPS-y version of my build(I feel should be done), while still having over 21,000 HP, and ~ 2,200 armor.

The way I decided to go about it was to almost completely ignore my precision stat as a Crit focused warrior, and instead go for perma-fury, sigils of intelligence, and a sigil of perception, to more than make up for my otherwise neglected stat. This allows me to swap more of my armor/trinkets/traits with precision, to those with vitality, and toughness(if I so please, could always go full glass cannon anyways and have crazy hit chance.)

Pros;
-More damage and survivability overall
-Crazy Burst
-More flexibility with gear stats
-Lots of fun skill rotation options(Many involving quick and well timed weapon swaps)
-Fun to play
-Has decent amount of swiftness, also has stability and condition removal
-No adrenaline issues

Cons;
-Even with crack shot trait, Rifle does not have the best AoE
-Long cast on Rifles burst, making harder/trickier to use
-Lack of good leap, rush and other mobility skills(However Rifles burst is the only skill that locks you in place)
-Two of your Utility Skills, For Great Justice and Signet of Rage, cannot be swapped out for other Utility skills without hurting the builds damage. These two skills are what allow perma-fury. (This is probably the biggest setback, however if another skill is absolutely needed for a particular event, boss, etc., you can swap one out. It just means you won’t have fury all the time.)

This thread is hard to read, and not because I do not like math.

Just somehow seeing a long never-ending debate about whether you should give a PUG, a 8% DPS boost versus a 15% DPS boost, is just mind boggling silly.

First we are talking about PUGS! Do you REALLY think a DPS boost of, let’s be gracious now, of 15%, would really be the absolute make or break of whether you completed CoF! If you have a competent group, I bet you could do it without banners.

If the PUG is really that bad, that you absolutely need these banners than I do not think a banner is going to carry the PUG!

Lastly if you are truly this obsessed about nit-picking the fine points, of the exact percentages of increased damage from these banners I have to say, maybe like others have said, just grab both banners!

It is really hard watching the community I am part of this game with, argue to such a degree this essentially trivial point…

SIGH, end of rant. Thank you to the ones that did not bicker over the tiniest points in this thread.

EDIT: I can see, I guess, If you were doing this just for fun, and not trying to prove a point, than OK, but if not, it looks really silly.

the bleeding damage is very low without condition damage, you prolly tick for like 50 damage, no real danger, even if the bleeding duration is increased, i think that arms line is kind of wasted with your stats. with your weapon and armor set you could try something like X X 30 X 30 – focus on defense and critical damage in traits, take burst mastery for lots of longbow fire fields and maybe invest in a superior sigil of fire for your bow (it will frequently trigger aoe blast in zerg vs zerg fights because lots of targets and thus many crits). maybe try to get your crit chance up a bit more somehow, will be a bit low compared to your crit damage if you drop all points out of arms.

tattoohead the only good warrior sustained healing builds are condition based, for me thats reason enough to run a condition build.

Actually I have a condi warrior too, same warrior actually just separate gear set, and yes condi warriors can pose a serious threat to an enemy zerg. My bleeds did 150 a tick, with 25 stacks easy, that is a lot of damage, in terms of condi-removal, a lot do not run much of it in WvW, and even when they did, I was putting stacks fast enough that they would still die. Also my longbow… oh my longbow I put a sigil of earth on that(60% chance to cause bleed on crit and that was funny) When I did my fire field it did over 800 a tick, also these ticks would crit, and those crits would cause bleeding thanks to the lovely sigil. If I put that fire-field on a wall I can guarantee you the enemy zerg on that wall would move or die, which is a nice way of getting people off ac’s.

So, yes the condi’s can pose a threat, if that is what you want, though also like you said, if you ease up on condi’s you can make some really neat support warriors.

Also my condi warrior was a condi-crit chance warrior. I ran a decent amount of percision, just no crit damage, and specialized in on crit effects (lots in traits/runes/sigils) as well as lots of condition damage, also had a fair amount of toughness, and enough vitality so that my health was greater than 20,500.

EDIT:
Not trying to rage on your post, You make a fair point about condi-builds making great support warriors too, and overall I do agree with your post, just pointing out there are some strong condi-damage warrior builds out there, and that they can do a lot of damage.

pro tip, don’t run a condition build. As a war there are just so many strong power builds there is no reason do run a condition build. Besides that other classes are just better at conditions.

Now if you want the current cookie cutter build run M/Shield with a sigil of paralysis and a GS. Your Mace stunn is a spammable 4s stun. (warning this build will be nerffed)

I personally run with Axe/Axe and Rifle and i run with a crit dmg build + the crit on weapon swap sigils. I can see someone coming and Rifle burst them for crasy dmg then turn around and get a full adrenalin guaranteed crit eviscerate, total of around 15k

Lol that is almost exactly what I run, axe/axe + Rifle. Prefer the sigil of intelligence for my weapon swap. It also uses a fun concept, perma-fury. Though the reverse is also fun, eviscerate a squishy(mesmer, thief for example) watch them run and then killshot, less likely to try to dodge kill shot when running. Also thieves tend to stealth when they get low on hp/need to run and kill shot, if you had them targeted prior to stealth, will auto-aim on their position, even if stealthed, makes for some fun surprises.

Back to topic, I have seen some good condi warriors out there, in terms of 1v1 they are not all that great, but whip out a longbow on a big zerg and it is beautiful. You just have to know your role, you will not be as good at in your face stunlocking/or straight damage, but in terms of aoeing the whole zerg, putting added pressure/conditions on said zerg and wearing zergs out you can make a great addition to your zerg. There may be other roles out there that the warrior can do better, but that doesn’t mean if he really likes his condi warrior that he won’t make a good addition to his zerg, and that he shouldn’t run it.

Well this sounds familiar. Last time it was a thread about a new thief build that only took damage in the range of <20 per hit and that it was an easy build that thieves even showed him how to accomplish. I believe the mods deleted it after just about the only responses he got were pictures of tin foil hats.

I actually agree the thread is a little silly, also if you couldn’t tell my post though I have done it before, is an equally silly, and extremely impractical strategy, considering also it only worked maybe 60% of the time… It was more of a hail mary than a serious strategy.

It was just when it did work it was really funny to watch. Just trying to point out that in no way am I seriously going along with this thread.

Not a build expert but it seems you are going more toward condition damage/support overall in your build, so I would recommend dropping the zerker weps and getting better condition gear, and since you mentioned survivability, there are alot of good condition gear stat combinations than zerker for good-condi damage + survivabilty. I would look at things like rampagers, rabid, with maybe a mix of a few soldier pieces, depending on how much dps you want. also since you do seem to be leaning toward conditions, maybe replace some of the knights with maybe rabid gear. You should still have plenty survivability, but your conditions would pack a much stronger bite.

My solution for a O hp warrior was this, step 1 run ahead of your zerg into enemies, step 2 use swords fury with an insane amount of Condition damage +bleed traits/runes/sigils, step 3 promptly die as your zerg caught up to the enemy zerg(which by the way is now covered in your bleed stacks), step 4 have your zerg start killing members of enemy zerg which btw is still covered in YOUR bleed stacks and laugh hysterically as you repeatedly rally and promptly exit the zerg to a safer distance, and switch to your longbow.

Agreed not by any means the most practical strategy, but as a condition warrior… well it was just a little to much fun to not do sometimes.

Don’t play Thief, I have both a Warrior and a Thief lvl 80. And I quit playing Thief because you have VERY little options in weapons, and therefore, in skills available:
Daggers, Sword, Pistols, Shortbow. That’s it. Warrior on the other hand gets tons of weapons and this leads to a much more diversity of builds. This is what I like, having a choice and not being stuck on something because of lack of choice.

Thieves have mobility with their shadowsteps (especially if playing with Sword) but they really do feel squishy. Not only that, but what I really disliked in the end about the class is that it was mainly focused about spam. Of course they have utility skills in their weapon slots but honestly the class felt very repetitive.
With warriors you can play much more on weapon-swap and each skill has a cooldown (I’m talking about the weapons skills) which will make you think a lot more about what you’re doing and which combo would be good in this or that situation. Their mobility is also decent with all the skills (and even some traits) that get us rid of cripple/immob or any other condition. Like someone said, mainly swords/greatswords and warhorns.

But it’s just my opinion. Try each class in PvP mode to get an idea of their possibilities.

I second playing around in the Heart of the Mists. It is a very nice way to get a good feel of a class and play around with builds. If you already know all about the Heart of the Mists, just ignore my next paragraph

If you are not the type that enjoys PvP, you are in luck because you do not have to do any. If you make a level 1 character and click join the heart of the mists, you will be transferred to a sort of lobby like zone. In this zone you have completely separate armor all scaled to max level 80 stats already. You can then for no price, buy any of the armors/runes/sigils in the game(all specific too this zone, meaning it can only be used in that zone or PvP) however the trinkets are alittle different, as you just have an amulet+the gem(however they have enough stats to make up for the lack of rings/accessories) In addition you can respect your traits for free there(again this doesn’t effect your PvE traits) There are also practice npcs and dummies there.

Simply put it is the best way to test builds/classes for free and right off the bat.

11.2k backstab on a 3.3k armor warrior?

i know plenty of warriors and other classes who laugh at anything on the forums, but when they get asked for a duel they refuse and you never hear of them again. some difference between having a big mouth on the forum because they killed a few noobs in wvw and actually having a clue about whats possible, only lots of experience teaches what kind of broken builds are possible in wvw, you need to fight them first to see it. i dont know man.. you call 17k+ instant damage out of stealth on a 3.2k armor guy balanced? seriously.. if you read through this thread you can see that this kind of damage is still far from the maximum you can do as a thief and 3.2-3.3k armor is about what you get with every piece of exotic gear having toughness stat on it.

btw there is an edit button, you dont have to make a new post everytime you come up with a new thought.

Want to talk about Kill Shot and Eviscerate?
WvWvW has never and will ever be balanced by design. Deal with that.

lol, this brings back a good memory..

So i run an axe/axe + Rifle build in WvW with a sigil of intelligence on one of the axes and the rifle..

While trying to meet back up with my zerg, ran into both enemy zergs and barely escaped(had less than a quarter health.) When I thought I was safe I turned around to find out a thief from the second zerg I ran into was still chasing me, so still having full adrenaline and a guaranteed Crit from swapping weapons a while back I used Eviscerate. That took the majority of his health away, so in a panic he tried to run, so I switch to rifle(note with burst mastery I still have enough adrenaline to use another burst, and I had the trait that gave extra adrenaline when I crit with an axe) now thanks to sigil of intelligence I have another gauranteed crit, so I used Killshot. Needless to say this Thief died.

Not saying either Thief nor Warrior is OP, I have had my share of deaths due to a thief popping out of stealth and killing me. However in WvW at least I do not fret it as much. There are plenty of situations where I can get payback, like if a thief tries this on an ally and I promptly kill said thief and rez ally.

Not to mention this thief mechanic works amazing well on single roamers, however a lot of WvW consists of small groups, all the way to big zergs, in which case said thief is usually one of the first to get melted, due to the fact that they are a GLASS cannon.

Compared to Mesmer, Warriors are considerably less mobile. When it comes to utility skills, Warriors have very little mobility skills, though they do have some utility skills that grant swiftness.

However most of Warriors mobility can be seen in some of the weapons they use, like great-sword for instance has some nice mobility skills. Warriors main-hand sword also has a leap ability, though main-hand swords burst ability locks you in place, and so does the great-swords burst as well I believe.

Also some have Complained that in competitive PvP that some of the Warriors abilities are too telegraphed (long animations and such) Though I mainly do dungeons and WvW, so that is less of an issue for me.

The nice thing about Warriors in my opinion is the diversity. When it comes to straight up bunker, Guardians are amazing, straight up conditions is something Necros are good at, and straight up damage.. Thiefs. However if you do not want a solid glass cannon class, or what have you, Warriors are quite nice, they can do almost a little of everything.

Warriors are a very good starting/learning class for this reason. However if you are a more serious/competitive player, you will most likely find Warriors much harder than the other classes for the same reason, as it will feel like they are doing everything sub-par. This means a competitive player will have to work much harder while playing a Warrior to remain competitive, though it can be done.

My overall answer to your question is this, in terms of mobility you will most likely not enjoy the Warrior as much as you enjoy your Mesmer now, if you like highly mobile classes I hear the Thief is also highly mobile class and a lot of fun to play.

Hope this helps!

Agreed

Threw a build in the mist together(was not trying to make a top build or anything close, just wanted to prove this concept)

Note; I have 30% condi duration from trait line.

Final Thrust hit while target was still immobilized.(and I usually killed dummy with the heaviest armor with just flurry and final thrust.)

Why would you FT on a Condi build? I think two Sword 1 swings would deal more damage. Or you’re using Rampager’s or some other hybrid setup?

It was slightly hybrid

I run a sword/axe+longbow condi warrior in wvw, now I know it probably doesn’t do as much damage as zerker, but I have found I can get more survivability without as much a loss in damage. I run Mostly Condi damage, then precision, and power, after that toughness, and enough vitality to keep my health at 21-23k roughly. Also I always have my banner of strength and for great justice to help support me and the zerg, plus I can use longbows burst plus longbow 3 to give aoe might if needed.(not much but something)

I have a few specific questions and one broad question

First question, When in a zerg that is spamming aoe might I can get up to 2,500-2,700 condi damage, with just my skills food and buffs I get up to 1800-2,100 condi damage roughly, and with just food I run roughly 1500 condi damage. Is this except-able, or am I hitting damage caps galore(at best I have seen my bleeds hit in the 160’s a tick, and burns mid 900’s against players)?

Second question do banners and shouts effect siege?

Third how well if at all does condi damage scale when you are on a seige?

Lastly if you were to run a condi warrior in wvw how would you build it?

Dual Axe?

experimented with dual axe, zerker warrior, myself. Had nice burst and perma fury. Never fully decided on weapon sigils.

However it needed the runes of rage, and the 6th bonus is bugged, so you will miss out on 5% crit damage under fury(not that big considering you could put a ruby orb in the last armor, and get 3% crit dam. and other stats.)

rough build

Important notes,
signet mastery+ #2 on rage rune allows for perma fury;
pop sig of rage and then for great justice consecutively, when for great justice comes off cd pop again. Repeat this pattern and ta-da perma-fury.

axe 4 and #4 on rune of rage help with perma-fury if above is interrupted

All skills other than sig of rage and for great justice are swappable(as it is a rough build)

sigils are swappable(there is probably a better combo)

lastly COMBO, you have a longbow that has a fire field, use it heavily with axe/axe finishers.(also axe/axe + axe/axe gives you flexibility in sigils, could do “swap to this weapon in combat” sigils)
