I hear this a lot. It almost looks like there RNG system can be very good for your account or it can be really bad or just normal.
How knows, maybe it’s based on you gem purchases or how positive you are on the forum.
I have refreshed that page multiple times but seen nothing yet, I also still have the message on the forum that they will livestream something and now somebody said it’s already on or even over?
Now November 8th, at noon PST does not say anything.
So anybody can confirm. It’s already over or not or still needs to start and if so any place to see the video again?
Whats guilds need.
Thinks to do together (like guild missions but more).
Thinks to build . (fight for as a community. Build your own guild-houses, have members get stuff in the game for it. Be able to build your guild-hall on a PvP like map and fight with other guilds for territory and so on.)
Many more guild management tools for guild leaders.
Guilds should not be a requirement for people but it’s just fin to do thinks with the guild. All working together to achieve something or helping each other achieving something. The way GW2 is build now thats very hard.
As an ex-hardcore raider from another MMO, I LOVE that I’m not held hostage by a guild for content or loot. None of that application nonsense, no backstabbing for a raid spot, forget all the politicking to beg for scraps from a loot council – I am DONE with that business! Never again!!
I have 3 guilds now – my WvW guild, my guild missions guild and my Tequatl slaying guild and love them all \o/
The option for raids is not a requirement for members to join. However while there is not a lot to do for guilds for members it is still doable, try being a guild-leader.
First of all this isnt trolling just a conclusion for over a 1 year of playing Guild Wars 2 as active player and guild leader, try to answer or question with facts not with arrogant answers, reply only if you have something real to say.
Being a guild leader for over 10 years, was managing small and very large guilds and communities, atm i am guild leader Kingdom of Irij from Gandara server, we have somehow 90 members 50 very active, and we every day arguing on Team Speak 3 how Arena Net failed in guild wars 2 whole concept of guilds, so let me say few facts what we were concluded.
- No real reason to be loyal to guild
- Nothing exist except guild missions and free will of guild leader and officers to make guild events
- No real guild mechanics in game,… except guild missions wich are very designed to be something like charity if you are grinding events , representing guilds, using in game money as well as real money to make all guild missions in record time, then players enter a guild represent only when guild missions on to collect rewards then they are free to represent rest 4 guilds to parasite guild bank as well of other guilds.
- No alliances which is huge fail concerned that we as guild leaders cant co operate very well with our friendly guilds and other guild leaders except whisper or sound chat.
- No guild hall, no guild dungeon based places , no guild dimensions , no guild stuffs except some wvwvw items and few banners ?
- No PVE raids or slivers or something similiar what would keep PVE players loyal to 1 guild
- No PVP tournaments as it used to exist in GW2,..
- WvWvW is only a partial suitable options for guilds events and guild social place for gaming.
- Fractals , Dungeons , SPVP , WvWvW could be done without guild easly,.. Got in guild members who doing with pugs 50 + lvl fractals, ARAH is soloing – selling joke, PVP hasnt any team play even 40 + ranks in guild says it, WvWvW is only bright options somehow.Tequatil is only thing by now what is useful for guilds and organisation of events in PVE…
Is there any plans for working more on guilds in game and is there a plan removing crappy represent system ? I am sick of kicking people after 2 months who stops to represent,…
Assimilator , Kingdom of Irij , Gandara.
How do you know people have stopped representing for 2 motnhs?
But you are correct. Guilds need a lot of attention. Stuff to do like raids, personally I don’t think Tequatil was very good for guilds because of overflow and other people in the map that can mess with things.
Guilds also need many many many many more an improved guild management tools.
Anet however decided that Guild Wars 2 had to be differed (in everything) for the sake of being different. So no raids, no content you can get in only with guild-members.
If they want to do things differed they gave us ingame (so not instanced) guild houses we can defend and have people build houses on guild territory land. However I am afraid that if Anet keeps on going with this gem-store focus that even if we get guild-houses it will be a lot of gem-related stuff. Meaning it does still not really add any content for guilds to do except for asking people to donate money , gold or gems.

for everyone played DPS class, its suck to have trinity.
ever wander why queue into dungeon takes 30minute – 1hour ?
cause everyone playing dps.holy trinity will only get love by minority
Nope. My main has always been a ranger but never mind a Que for a few min. Never had 30 min – 1 hour Que but then again mostly you made your own teams or at least start with a partial team and then searched for other people.
But anyway. Not having the trinity is no problem if they would replace it with something else. But having really no specific roles makes fights a little more dull and thats to bad.
And what if you didn’t have friends who wanted to do the same stuff? That’s right, into the PUG board and wait to get picked.
You find friends? You don’t need a full group, if you start with 2 or 3 and pug the rest that already go’s pretty fast. Anyway, it’s still so that some classes are much more wanted then other classes so that has not really changed in GW2.
AH to bad, then I am not really interested. temporary this, temporary that. Game feels like a F2P game with this sort of micro transaction focus and marketing. Makes you wonder (to not say cheated) why you had to pay money for the initial box.
$60 for over a year of game play, and you’re complaining about dyes? You can still buy all of them with gold.
At least it isn’t like SWTOR’s free to play mode. Oh my.
I tried to go back to play with friends for free and noticed that f2p players could only use one “action” bar :P Was that ever changed? I needed more than the 5 bars or such allowed before it even went f2p for all of the skills.
No I am not complaining about dyes, if that would be the only item where they did that I would be fine with that. I simply asked about the dyes, I was complaining about the whole gem-store focus.
And yes you can buy every think with gold but if stuff is temporary it really makes that harder. What if you lets say want 3 Halloween skins (a 55 gold), and two of these colors (a 40 gold) then you are not playing the game but only farming gold to get the items that should be available in game in stead of in some cash shop. After that prices might even go up.
Maybe SWTOR is much worse. I don’t know. But GW2 being put on the market as a B2P game I really expected not this much of micro transaction focus. However I did expect a expansion every year, year and a half because they need to make money. Sadly they seem to have gone for the micro transaction way what id not beneficial for the game itself.
(edited by Devata.6589)
The dyes will be permanent once you learn them, but they’re only available temporarily. There’s tons of free stuff in the game, and it’s well worth the price of the box. I’m just not sure it’s worth the price of gems these days. It’d be one thing if I could buy the dyes directly with my gems, but we can only buy a chance at getting them.
EDIT: You can also buy them from the trading post. Dulfy’s website should have a list of the names and colors.
I know they are then only available temporary. Thats what I do not like. It’s all based on selling more gems. F2P games also always have a base of items and then many of the new stuff they add is purely based on micro-transaction. Like we see in GW2. Anyway, thats another subject and I will make a specific topic about that. For here I just had the question if it where really new added colors or once again temporary ones.
They’re new temporary dyes in the gemstore.

New dyes or new temporary availible dyes?
The problem with a trinity system other than it how it makes combat so rigid is that most people don’t like being the tank, and especially hate being the healer, but because they;re both necessary, you have a million DPSers sitting in a queue waiting for enough healers and tanks to take them all. Basically, DPSers are not wanted.
There are roles in the game, in a very non-strict situation, each class brings something to the table. There’s also some very strict role-based encounters in the game.
There’s actually an encounter which is basically a ‘trinity’ if you break it down: the Clockheart. If you look at it, there’s 3 roles in the fight: a tank who aggroes the clockheart (the boss seems to aggro the first person who aggroed it throughout the fight), positions it in place and direct its huge frontal AoE. Then you got the lurer who lures the holo that spawns to bring down the boss’s shield. Then you got your standard DPSers.
The difference is that in the above case, most classes can fulfill all of those roles so you don’t get huge lists of rejected DPSers waiting in a line for hours on end.
But some classes can do it much better then other classes. So you do get a list with preferred classes an not preferred classes.
The idea is to design content which doesn’t require specific classes to suceed (such as the slime pulling in TA), or make it it so that each class can contribute differently (e.g. having a Guardian will let you survive an onslaught of mobs better, having a thief will allow you to skip past bits of them). Or make it like FotM, where you don’t know what you might need so you just bring everyone.
Yeah thats still fine. You can have still multiple ways to do thinks and one role might be possible to be done by 2 classes and the other way around. One class might even be able to fulfill 2 roles.
My comment on the other hand was about the way it now works. Because while in theory you don’t need any classes specifically, in reality there are some classes much more preferred. Like guardians and warriors.
I think we both want the same but the way it is now it’s less then we both want then it would or could be with the trinity imho.
The problem is, what do you actually want? Classes are far from ‘fair’ in the trinity system, like I was saying before, everyone wants healers and tanks, no one wants DPSs. Yes, its fair in theory but in practice you got a problem which is impossible to fix.
Thats not in all games. But usually you have more DPSers. So require more roles, not less. Now everybody wants guardians and warriors.
I was thinking about it this morning. It think removing the peg leg from WvW was a major reason my friends quit. (It’s trolly but points out the ridiculous crazyiness that use to be in the game and has been removed in favor of zerging)
I don’t see it as trolling. It’s tactics. It’s what this game needs more not less. And more freedom to do such things, not more rules. The siege max is also one of those thinks. Because of it, you can’t really set up siege to defend. Invisible walls, another one of those “you are not allowed” thinks.
My objection to the trinity, and I’ve said this before, is how artificial it is. How exciting would Lord of the Rings been if anyone only ever attacked Boromir while Gandalf healed him. I’m thinking not very. It’s a completely artificial construct that kills the drama in games.
I get what you’re saying and don’t entirely disagree, but not having dedicated healers on the battlefield seems more artificial to me than having them, because “Medic!” Granted, a medic probably isn’t going to hook up an IV and pump antibiotics into someone who’s actively drawing enemy fire, but still…
See also: Cleric!
My favorite take on the ‘trinity’ was in City of Heroes, where it wasn’t necessarily ‘healer’/tanker/DPS. Defenders and Controllers had some pretty cool (and fun, IMO) alternatives to being healbots. And as for tanking, well, I sure do miss me some CoH-style tanking.
First pic: That’s right! It was me! I ate all the Frusen Glädjé!
Second pic: Say, I had this, like, wacky dream, ya know, where the heroes were rolling around on the ground trying to avoid all these wacky red circles of doom, or whatever!
I have a lot less against healers than I do against tanks. To me it’s tanks that make the trinity artificial, not healers.
Thats because the way tanks now work in most MMO’s. They just have a skill to get agro. But like I showed in my other post. You can easily make a tank class but don’t make it so artificial. Tank then meaning 2 thinks. Being able to take a lot of damage and having skills then help him to get the attacks attention (like the pulling I gave as an example) without it being artificial skills.
The problem with a trinity system other than it how it makes combat so rigid is that most people don’t like being the tank, and especially hate being the healer, but because they;re both necessary, you have a million DPSers sitting in a queue waiting for enough healers and tanks to take them all. This is GREATLY wanted by A LOT of people.
This would be a great opportunity for the Gem store too.
Have a guild hall that you can decorate with items gain from many different ways.
-Spvp gained rewards like a trophy.
-Holiday items bought with gems like mistletoe or Christmas trees. (You can also have a chance to screw with people by making it only show for a limited time or pay x-amount of gems to keep it up there longer)
-unlock merchants with merits and influence (but not with leveled tiers to help out smaller guilds)
-GvG can be possible in these areas if it is created in instances.
Oow please leave the gem-store out of this.
I went for a B2P game because I want game elements in the game, not using micro transactions. If thats what I wanted I would have gone for a F2P game and safe me the initial purchase cost. If they want to get money for content release expansions and guild halls could then be part of that expansion. But whether guild halls get released in an expansion or not do not involve the gem-store in any way.
Like you say yourself, with the gem-store they ‘screw with people’. That’s why I don’t like the whole cash-shop focus.

I’m thinking not very. It’s a completely artificial construct that kills the drama in games. It adds a completely different game-like challenge, but for immersion or story telling, or just feeling like you’re actually part of an epic battle, it fails for me personally.
The idea that some super powerful megafoe is too stupid to attack the healer and he’s allowing himself to be taunted so he ignores everything but one guy just doesn’t feel right to me.
That has more to do with AI. And thats still a problem in GW2, that powerful megafoe is still jsut attacking somebody and then suddenly somebody else but no good tactic in it.
If you say, tanks should not automatically be the attention of the boss I am very agreeable with you on that. However as tank you want him to fight you so you can give a tank abilities to help him with that. In combination with a good AI the AI might indeed beside to go for the tank.
So I am then not talking about a skill to get agro but for example a skill to pull enemies to you (thats already in GW2, if you would have a tank class give that to the tank). If a smart AI gets pulled to one guy all the time then he would start attacking that guy or at least not the person standing very far away else he is only running towards the healer, getting pulled back to the tank, running to the healer again and so on not doing any damage.
In addition you can have a specific ‘controller’ class who is mainly good at controlling. Like I said before removing the trinity I don’t see as a problem but I would rather then have seen more roles been put in place then just remove what there is and thats it. A controller can also help the tank getting agro.
So with a good AI and the correct skills and or of course good tactics from the players you can have many roles like tank without it even being a little bit artificial. And it would make fight much more interesting.
I don’t think trinity os bad but I also don’t think it’s bad to try something else. When GW2 was talking about having no trinity that seemed like a good idea. Having all those different roles in stead of just those 3.
Then it turned out that they did not really have a lot of roles but thye just took out the trinity and that was is. In a way there where no roles whatsoever. And that just is a little boring, is also means that you now see that a few classes are really wanted while other are really unwanted while in trinity every class whas because the trinity was important so as long as you had a healer, a tank and DPS you where basically fine. Yeah small differences but I never saw such a focus on a few classes like in GW2.
When did removed the trinity they should not just have taken that out but given new roles. One still being the tank role and one still being the heal role but you could also have companion role (classes with controllable mobs like pets) and so on and then also make the bosses so smart and build the dungeons in such ways that you really need many of those roles.
Those more roles would have make it much more interesting. But no roles made fights in a way less interesting.
Also have a look in this topic:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Guild-System-Improvements/page/4
I compiled a list with all suggestion I ever found there and still update it. I think all suggestions done here are on that list there.
The list is two post big, but thats not so much because people want so much, it´s because there is so much wrong – missing.
Partly because of the possibility to rep multiple guilds. That is not really a problem but makes management harder so requires more guild-management. For example I see here people ask for last online. But if your guild does not require full representing then at least you also need a last represented. And it might be useful to see a line over time per member maybe even per char (because some people rep one guild with one char and one with another) to give an indication if people are online or representing more and more or less and less.
Thinks that are mainly so useful or needed because people can represent multiple guilds.
However, Anet created this complex (for guild leaders) system but then lagged even in the basic management tools you see on any mmo with a very simplistic guild system.
However indeed we can’t even see last online what would be very useful in any MMO. Members don’t see the guild-message pop up or in the chat, you can’t specify who is able to start missions, accept credit for missions. You can’t say who is an officers, you can’t allow someone to invite members without also giving him rights to edit ranks and delete members and so I can go on. What have we gotten so far. The guild-missions (a good addition but by now we could use something new) and it took them more then a year to fix the possibility to edit the message of the day.
There is a big thread about guild management stuff on the suggestions-page ( https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Guild-System-Improvements/page/4#post2983198 ) that has been there for a year now. What you are asking here is also on that lost. Many of the problems with guilds are even in the game since bèta.
So fat the only additions have been the guild-missions and it took them more then a year to fix the option to edit the message of the day.
So not sure how long it will take before we get this fixed. But I would suggest keeping it to that topic not to spread it out over many different topics.
Starting should only be availible for officers but then I don’t know what thye say as officers. We did try it with no people having admin lower ranks and still people could start it. You have the same problem with accepting credits from another guild.
I just hope they don’t turn whole Kessex Hills into some toxic land because it was my favorite map the way it looked. Would be to bad if this patch would ruin that great map.
As long as that is not the case it looks good. Does not seem to be temporary so thats good. Hopefully any achievements and rewards will this time also be permanent in stead of temporary.
Thnx for fixing this!
So it was a bug.
Found out the answer be taking away all lower admin ranks. Answer is. Bad design but heey what can you expect. Everybody can take credits.
Why? The stats remain the same. I can still select what stats I want out of combat. Which you cannot do with the ascended shortbow. After the legendary graphics update I could no longer stomach the unicorn bow. It had to go. It. Was. Terrible. Now it is better and matches my long bow. Unlike twlight, sunrise, predator, or the dagger (whatever it is called) the shortbow graphics were horrible in the worst way. I had already equipped the lover before deciding to go after the legendary… I also started making it way before I knew I was goign to pull 7 other precursors from the forge. So, yeah. The unicorn bow had to go.
PS: I didn’t really work for it. A month later (after I had equipped the lover) I pulled the leaf of kudzu. Sold it. Paid for all the mats to make the dreamer. Had my legendary within two months of pulling the lover from the forge.
I do like the footprints from the dreamer and they are not over the top.
Play the way you want right?
I would like an official statement from Anet about this.
It’s not in the patch notes… There is something about it in the patch notes:
“Added 20 Empyreal Fragments as a daily account reward for completing the Mad King Tower jumping Puzzle as a subsequent reward after first time completion.”
but not that you don’t get the candy bags a after the first run. So maybe they bugged that when putting in the daily Empyreal Fragments.
In addition a moderated moved my question to bugs page suggesting it’s a bug.
however I still miss 2 thinks. A official statement that it is a bug and or a patch to fix it.
Just for the record, I was not even really doing the JP to farm those bags, I just like doing the JP but the bags where then a nice little extra. Farming the labyrinth works better if you want those bags.
Since you’re asking if this is a bug (Title: Clocktower Empty Chest Bug), would this not be better served in the Game Bug sub-forum?
Only if the answer is yes.
A moderator put it in “Game Bugs” so I guess that means it’s a bug. Gonna check now if they fixed the bug.
The reward for the clocktower as already way below what it should be.
1 good item per account for the whole Halloween.
But when doing it again you did get 3 or 4 candy bags. Well thats something.. way below what it should be. Better was if you could collect a armor set or something but oke..
However today I first got some useless crystals and the second run an empty chest.. totally empty. Did try it another run and again empty. This means that the small chest on the way are more useful then the one on the top.
This is a bug? Or this is change done on purpose because some people might be able to farm a few candy bags in that way and farming / grinding anything else then gold always get patched out because it would make the gem 2 gold transfer less interesting?
I sure hope it’s a bug but any clarification would be nice because it was already extremely bad as it was but this just rude towards people who like to do JP’s.
1 Anet focusing on expansions for income instead of focusing on micro-transactions for income.
2 Guild Wars 2 besomming a real open word
3 Traditional quest.
4 Open world housing / guild castles that happens in fractions (pvp) territory where fractions and guilds fight each other.
5 Mounts
(I first also had:
“Putting more game into the game. So mini’s and stuff should be available in the game. That also means mats should be better available in the game then on the TP (less gold-grind”
But that should be the effect of 1 )
I wouldn’t say the effort is the same. TP barons can make 2k gold with very little effort. To make the legendary takes a bit of mastery in all parts of the game, aside from pvp. You actually have to play, ya know.
Nonsense. The game is way to much gold-driven end that means that also for making the legendary gold grind works the best.
Yes you need world completion but thats about everything. The rest is a gold-grind and then buy what you need. The problem is that because the game is so gold-driven it’s better to grind the gold and then buy the stuff you need then really farming the stuff you needs. That is nearly impossible.
So in the end it is not a big difference if you buy it from the TP or you create it yourself. It are those few small thinks like world completion and WvW that make a the small difference.
BTW, I don’t see the problem with the fact that you can sell them. especially because getting them is not based on skill but on grind.
When we do a mission we have in the Que to activate while another guild is already doing it then at the end you get the question to accept credits for you guild.
Is this option related to a permission you link to a rank or can every member do that no matter what rights he has?
(edited by Devata.6589)
What I never got about the personal story is that when I am playing a MMORPG.. playing the game and doing the quest is my adventure and so thats my personal story.
There are no traditional quest in the game so you stuff becomes a little more…. shallow but still playing the game is for me the personal story.
The ‘personal story’ on the other hand is some single player story you play (I still haven’t found out if it’s supposed to have played in the pass or in the current time?) and so does totally not feel as my personal story and it is also not something I am looking for in an MMO.
However I don’t mind it being there. If people like it thats fine. I do however am afraid that it did take a lot of resources and money away from other elements in the game. Would not be surprise if this was one of the most expensive aspects of the game because of all the voice acting.
At some point I might try and do it on all races and make sure I get the 3 different fractions.
However I would prefer them putting in just traditional quest and then let me live my own personal story helping people by doing quest, exploring land and so on.
I think the mini Teq should move in stead of standing still in one place when you are standing still. All the mini’s should do that but with Teq you notice it much more.
Every MMO that i have played till now always took it’s sweet time to release an expansion.I don’t expect GW2 to be different.
Normally from release till 1st expansion of MMO it takes 2 years.
As i heard only EVE is different because they release expansions every 6 monthsDepends. Games that base there income on subscriptions usually take about 2 to 3 years indeed.
If you base you income on expansions (like GW1) you should do it faster once every year / year and a half.
Anet however stated that they prefer to have the living story and no expansion. (so they would then base there income on the cash-shop like F2P games). Reading your post you are not aware of that statemet but thats what many people are so negative about.
I don’t know about EvE but a real expansion every 6 months?
Yup, literally every six months, in fact the newest just got released, huge graphical updates, new items for the economy, etc
However yeah, GW2 needs new lands to explore
The world was teased (as someone posted it above) and a lot of the community got excited about how big the world outside of Tyria/Elona/Cantha really was and how much we’d have to exploreWell if i was in the Anets place i would take the EVE path.It is a P2P game but still releases expansions every 6 months. And that makes it the fastest expansion releasing MMO on the market.
Anet should stop with this Living World and focus more resources on the expansion.I’m quite certain they can’t get even close to EVE releases but atleast if they can introduce an expansion every year i will be happy.
By having new expansion a year they may make even an additional buks too.Well to be fair Eve is a sandbox game, it is incredibly easier to create a new sandbox for the players, then it is to create a new area for a Theme park MMO.
I am not sure how much it would change in work. Only thing you really have much less is map design (but once you have the objects ‘they still need to create’ that is not the biggest work I think) and scripting. But lets amuse it does require much less resources.
They want a more living breading ever evolving world right?
Nothing is more living and evolving then a sandbox so in upcoming patches they might want to also add sandbox like elements. Of course they also need the theme-park stuff but then they can do it 50 / 50. If sandbox indeed requires less work then they save some time and they really get the living world they want so badly.
I would love to see pretty empty maps where fractions or guild can fight over land and then build there own guild-castles. But also where build can build there own houses. Thats an living world.

It would be pretty cool if we could get different charator animations threw the gem store. Things like swinging/holding/sheathing your weapons in different ways. Instead of rolling flipping or kartwheels and stuff.
Things that make your charator feel more unique. I doubt it would be too taxing on animaters to do this kind of thing. What do you guys think about this?
I they they could add such things in the world. Not in the gem-store. They can make it part of an expansion then I will pay that way.
Bad is the wrong word but I think it might be fun to do it with different classes. Makes it a different experience. Then again fractals is already not alt friendly because you need to level it for every char.
If it will only stay in Fractals it might not be the worst thing.. there are far more serious problems imo. However I am not so convince they will never gonna use agony for other things or Fractals might get a much bigger role and then it suddenly changes the whole aspect.
Yes its definitely fun to play content with different classes but the game doesnt stop you from doing that, not even with leveling you can still get a new alt you finished max leveling today and play a level 10 fractal if you want, level only effects difficulty and reward it doesnt stop you from enjoying the content.
But what makes you think that exactly? I honestly see nothing that suggests agony is going to come out of fractals really. Its a possibility as nothing excludes it either obviously but at this point I honestly dont think its something to worry about.
First of all I did hear people say Anet said. Thats extremely unreliable and I can not verify that but why would they make it up. Secondly just the fact that they soon have full ascended armor with much agony resistance I can not imagine that they would only use that for fractals. That means you have basically this whole tier of armor for one dungeon and one dungeon only (naming fractals a dungeon here). So or fractals is going to get a much bigger role or they are going to use it also in other parts of the world I think. So it’s not any factual reference that I have but at least a little comment sense where I base it on.
The ground breaking content is a nice idea but the way I see it being ‘used’ is also a slippery slope.
It’s when they say “we want that in a GW2 sort of way”. It’s the idea where it must me different because it must be different and that imo in not a good reason and already causes some traps.
If you want to implement something don’t make it different just for the sake of it like is now happening. Dare to be not different as well. Have a look at other games and if something is bad there then indeed try to do it better but if it’s good do it the same way maybe only adding something.
Anet wants raids but in a GW2 way. They are looking for mounts but in a GW2 way and by now multiple people are already weary about the GW2 way. I remember very good when they said they where working on raids but in a GW2 way. It was not overwhelming positive.
The whole no traditional quest for the sake of it did also not worked out as planned. They had to implement hearths (and later PoI) to fix part of the problem (alpha) but still people miss a connection with the world that quest give.
So it’s fine if Anet wants to make ground breaking content but please stop doing things different for the sake of doing it different.
i like devatas idea of having the jp instanced but…. if they havent made it already, it wont happen, its way too close to halloween to make any changes
I know but I only came up with the idea when I did see that the JP would come back and when and how we could do some related activities with the guild for Halloween.
Might be a small change. Depends on how their whole instance code works.
Yes there where sigils but only sigils is of course a big difference from the whole armor set + sigils.
Like I said I don’t mind myself if the armor does not also include possibilities for agony. I did read that but I might be wrong. Still it would mean you could not do fractals. So if the armor does not give an agony profit I have no problem with it. Else it makes the game even more alt unfriendly so then I do have a problem with it.
I would imagine it does but small correction, having no agony resistance doesnt mean you cannot do fractals, it means you cannot do fractals on high levels. level 1 – 10 require 0 agony resistance and people claim they’re able to do level 11 – 20 without agony resistance as well with good dodging though I personally didnt try that.
Well it definitely doesnt make it alt friendly, thats for sure… but as a person who has 7 alts + a main I still find no problem enjoying my alts. in case of ascended gear if you intended to go into high level fractals do you need to do that with all your alts? why would it be that bad to have 1 or 2 characters for high level fractals and if you feel you want to use one of the other alts you play a lower level fractal?
Bad is the wrong word but I think it might be fun to do it with different classes. Makes it a different experience. Then again fractals is already not alt friendly because you need to level it for every char.
If it will only stay in Fractals it might not be the worst thing.. there are far more serious problems imo. However I am not so convince they will never gonna use agony for other things or Fractals might get a much bigger role and then it suddenly changes the whole aspect.
Ok I spent sometime and looked at NCSoft’s releases on sales. Please be aware, that generally the developer only gets 10% to 15% of the total revenue and NOT all of it.
Unit : Korean Won in Millions
3Q 12 = 45,841
4Q 12 = 119,013
1Q 13 = 36,382
2Q 13 = 28,899Without an expansion we will keep seeing drops. The only way to rejuvenate their revenue is a new expansion. They know this better than anyone else, which is why I am 100% sure there will be an expansion. It would be silly not to have one.
In the quarterly there is a breakdown for Anet sales on pg 10:
2Q13: 11,459 (million KRW)
1Q13: 14,376
4Q12: 52,790
3Q12: 14,104With or without an expansion, you will always see sales (READ: Box Sales) drop after the initial spike. Even if Anet launched an exp tmr, you will still see sales plummet over the next few quarters.
Also expansions are not the only way to revitalise sales. You might have heard that Anet is intending to launch GW2 in China. That is another way of increasing box sales (although that will also decline over the course of the year after launch).
Secondly, the performance of one quarter over the previous quarter should not be the sole factor when gauging performance. Industries like retail, tourism, hospitality have peaks and valleys where some quarters do better than others.
Of course, GW2 hasn’t been out long. So compared with this quarter last year, Anet sales were up a whopping 2648%. But you might want to consider comparing 3Q12 with 3Q13 to get a better idea of how GW2 is doing (since GW2 launched in 3Q12).
The game was released on August 28, 2012 so 3Q12 was only about 1 month. 3Q13 where 3 full months. You do need to take that into consideration.
By having new expansion a year they may make even an additional buks too.
Yeah I sort of agree. Of course GW2 can not go P2P but for EvE Online the expansions are free so GW2 could do the opposite. No P2P but paid expansions on a regular base. Then they can also stop with that gem-store focus that imo is very bad for the game.
I might want to make a special thread about this. Might be better.
It would be nice if they did bring the old mini’s and other old items back for players who missed it. For the record I do have everything I wanted from last year.. well maybe I would wanna give that shield an new try if it comes around, hopefully is will then be in a ‘funner’ way to get them. Last year it was RNG boxes if I remember correctly.
However I would love to see them also adding some new things. A mini in the game (not in the gem-shop… it’s about fun). They also did not have all weapons last year. For example there was no long-bow I believe (or it did not impress me). I would love to see a longbow that has a similar look like the short-bow last year. Maybe that the same spider is then sitting on a branch and looking around (mis between short-bow from last year and the legendary longbow). Anyway, that sort of additions would be nice.
If I then also may make a request.
Last year there where a lot of complains about the clock-tower mainly because many people where in there at the same time.
I think because of that it might now be less people or even a single player instance.
I hope it would allow you to choose with who you enter and also allow for more then 5 people so you can do it with the guild.
About the mini’s, I would prefer if they would put them all in the game itself this year, not in the gem-store. I understand they want to earn money but then just release an expansion.
Well days are longer than nights, 70 minute days and 40 minute nights. When you add in that in many places nights are so bright you can’t easily tell them from day then you might feel you play only during the day.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2
A day/night cycle is present in the game. Day lasts for 70 minutes, night for 40 minutes and the transitions between the two take 5 minutes each, comprising a 2-hour cycle. What would be more interesting is if they made nights darker. A day/night cycle where you can’t easily tell day from night needs tweaking.
Making it darker is maybe also interesting. However some maps I just like better when it is ‘dark’ while other are imo better when it is day.
More day then night for Queensdale is fine but imo Harathi Hinterlands looks better during the night. During the day Harathi Hinterlands boring with all the same centaurs area’s, but when it is dark all those centaurs camps and the other city’s have torches lighting everything up it really becomes a different map and somehow that makes it more fun.
The least they could do is play a little with this and see what would work best.
Maybe we have very different expectations from games and mine are much higher as yours it seems. A little like console-gamers vs PC-gamers.
Your expectations are unrealistic.
Why. There are games that manage. Like I did show in my example.
Your question why I stop playing them.
One had a terrible movement system, the other was P2P.

mounts? not really needed, would end up looking rather silly
if they add a new mini-game (aka activity) involving those sexy charr vehicles however… i’m all for it
I would prefer seeing those mounts (as that basically are mounts) on new big WvW or other WvW like franction PvP maps.
MMOs should make you feel like you have to play them. Not randomly log on here and there. Which is exactly why GW2 has things like dailies and temp content. They want you to log on and have the urge to log on.
But there should be compulsion. There should always be that urge. You should feel like you are missing out or wasting something if you don’t log in.
From the way it sounds you want it, they should just lace the game with nicotine.
I don’t know if you’re wording it wrong or if I’m reading it wrong. They should make the game appealing and fun to play, yes…….but not like a drug as you are making it sound. Its a very wrong turn a game has made if they have to force that addictive quality onto its players to force them to play rather than just having players logging on and enjoying themselves because the content is fun.
If I feel like I’m wasting something in a game because I’m doing something in the real world, then it might be time to reevaluate my life.No MMO is fun after a while, eventually everything gets boring. You might love ice cream, but if you eat ice cream every day for 1 year you will get fed up of it. That is why MMOs have all these things that try to make you feel bad for not logging in and make you feel bad for missing stuff.
As I said it is exactly why GW2 has temp content, dailies, and stuff like items of the cash shop that go away. There are psychological aspects of all entertainment that can be compared to drugs.
MMOs as a genre is not for the super casual player, as the whole concept itself is a time sink. That is the whole goal of an MMO. To try and make you spend as much time as possible. If you don’t like that, the genre might not be for you.
A good mmo has a mix of things.
I would be busy crafting (I love fun crafts, that let you create fun thinks and let you farm all over the world and send you all over the world for recipe’s. Hope this will ever become possible in GW2)
When I got tired of that I went on the hunt for mini’s that where available all over the world, sometimes sding quest-lines to get him, sometimes only visiting a vendor on the other side of the world, sometimes doing dungeons and sometimes brainless killing one type of mod. (You see how even this one activity ‘collecting mini’s has multiple ways of getting there. Not like in GW2 where there is basically one way, buy them from the tp).
Then I just went doing quest and leveling up or exploring some new area’s.
Then I went searching for rare pets or pets that you where not supposed to tame but people figured out a way to do that anyway. (When I play ranger / hunter)
Then I went searching for mounts,
Sometimes I was busy trying to get this one funny item. I did that in L2 but also in WoW and because most people know wow I can give an example of such an item.. The Unconscious Dig Rat.
Maybe I then tried out another class for some while or just visited that place that I likes so much to eventually go back to fun crafting.
No that did never got boring I can tell you.
Maybe we have very different expectations from games and mine are much higher as yours it seems. A little like console-gamers vs PC-gamers.
The world can of course change with expansions but it would indeed not do that all the time. A living story OR patches in-between would be better for that. Then again the LS did also not change the world that much so for in that way yet. And in the end personally I feel that the positives with expansions based income out-way the negatives but I am very willing to agree that indeed it has it’s negatives and this changing world is part of it. However in reality the world does not also changes that fast.
You can’t have a living world with expansions, a living world needs to be accessible by all players, not only those who pay for an expansion. Imagine if we ever see the continuation of any of the big meta events but only those who paid for the expansion can see them. That’s a horrible idea no matter what way you see it, preventing players from seeing content that should’ve been there in a non-instanced game.
As long as Anet wants a living world they can’t have expansions, or they can do both, simply going for expansions won’t ever happen and is not doable for the current design philosophy. As to how successful the LS is thus far that’s for an entirely different discussion
I think it works fine together just fine. Take WoW as example. If you would buy Vanilla today and play it you would see the changes made with the cataclysm expansion.
As far as there is a new continent they can not go there, maybe new dungeons and some other new items / rewards / hairstyles / mini’s and so on are not available for them (items are then also linked to an expansion). But other things are.
I do not see why that would not work for them tbo.
Overall days seem to take longer as night.. or somehow I always in ‘day’ maps. I do understand that but some maps (Like Harathi Hinterlands) are just nicer and so more fun to play in during ‘night-time’. I think it would be nice if some maps would have longer nights.
