But you should melee the ice elemental anyway
I should clarify my statement, because I realize that it doesn’t look clear.
The only time I would select rifle instead of longbow if I had to choose a ranged weapon would be at the ice elemental where you could pierce when the occasional add walks in the way of your shot. But yes, melee. o_o)-b
“Yea” as in “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
(Psa 23:4 KJV)
As others have said, Longbow is overall better if you absolutely had to use ranged weapons. The only one instance I could think of that might be different is with the Ice Elementals (cause the adds can sometimes block shots).
Question for everyone: are the prizes for this one good enough to make you want to put in the effort? I need contest feedback !
Personally for me, I do the contests when some kind of inspiration hits me.
However, I think your prizes are very generous. The alternate account would have been wasted on me, if I had somehow managed to win it, so hopefully it went to a better home.
Love it Kirin!!! Unless I can vote for myself I vote for you. Might redo mine and follow the rules this time :p
Thank you, cassius! If you do happen to redo them, it’d be awesome to see a higher resolution as well if possible. o_o)-b
I decided to put together a Triptych, however, I really liked the individual screenshots and I think they can stand on their own.

Gotta be careful, or this will degenerate from fashionable dungeon running, to cats of GW2 dungeon runners.
Cats are ubiquitous on the internet. Only a matter of time before they’d find their way in here.
Right, ignore my claims.
Getting into this conversation late, sorry. What were your claims? (In a nutshell would be great, thanks!)
What about adding in other colors than yellow? Purple, or blue, or red/orange?
What is the bugged behavior?
Y’all so fashionable ^^
Check out my Vampire Ele.
haha
That is simple, elegant, refined. I approve.
It’s pretty obvious so it should not be hard to follow. Disagree all you like.
If it was so obvious, how come it took you around 10 posts of debating with people to finally back yourself up to this explanation of what you meant:
When I mention gold sinks I am not referring to traditional gold out the economy taxes I only brought up the TP tax as an example of funds being taken out the player’s bank in response to a comment posted above.
Perhaps instead of attributing a new definition to a phrase that already has a commonly accepted meaning, you could use a more appropriate definition. I believe someone already suggested ‘bankrupt’ and another suggested ‘a waste of money’.
There is a 99.9% chance that you’re in over your head. Best of luck!
See, I didn’t need luck. You just needed to stop misusing phrases if you want to be able to communicate.
You could type the alphabet and claim it’s poetry as well. Crafting rares to throw into the forge chasing a legendary precursor bankrupts unlucky players. This is the gold sink I’m referring to. In addition to the macro sinks of waypoint costs and TP fees.
Strangely enough, since you’re the one asserting that item destruction equates to being a gold sink – which would Not the common definition of gold sink – I’d say that you’re the one typing the alphabet and claiming it’s poetry.
Edit: Wiki has entries for everything! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_sink

When they do that I’ll answer. As to the relevance of the greater economy, it’s rigged, you know that right?
In other words, you don’t have a good answer.
Rigged or not, the topic at hand is what a Gold Sink is. Creating/destroying materials/items doesn’t necessarily destroy or create gold. Actions like posting things on the TP, using Waypoints, buying stuff from vendors, that removes gold from the economy and is a Gold Sink.
In other words you asked a ridiculously hypothetical question that should it ever occur and Anet mailed every player in the game a precursor…. I’d be too busy crafting my legendary to answer.
Ridiculousness is only meant to highlight the fault in your logic of associating the worth of an item to gold creation/destruction.
I could give a much more feasible situation, but you’d probably miss the point.

I’m talking about the individual’s gold not the greater economy which is irrelevant.
The greater economy is always relevant. If you only look at the individual’s gold amount, then you could say giving gold to a friend would be a gold sink.
“Hey buddy, here’s 9 gold!” There. You just destroyed 9 gold.
Absolutely. If you create only to sell then you win.
Okay, then. Let’s just say Spark has a current sale value of 1,000 gold (rounding off). ANet, realizing that people have been demanding precursors, graciously mails everyone a “random precursor box”, however, it’s bugged (what isn’t these days?) and everyone pulls out a Spark from their random precursor box. How much gold did ANet introduce into the economy? How much gold did you earn by opening this box?
There is a 99.9% chance that you’re in over your head. Best of luck!
Unlikely.
Since we’re going to be mass forging because we really need our precursor we will need to buy the components and then craft these greatswords with our weaponsmith.
-snip-
The action of purchasing from the Trading Post (thus incurring the Trade Post fees, which remove gold from the game) is the reason why gold is removed from the game.
It is NOT the action for destroying items that removes the gold from the game.
In other words, let’s say instead of mystic forging those krait greatswords, you sold them on the TP. The 9 gold is still gone, plus a touch more due to TP fees for listing/selling those crafted greatswords.
Edit:Let’s also go back and look at a previous quote:
Destroying assets which have value also removes the gold those items could’ve been sold for from an individual’s portfolio.
Would you say that the opposite is true, then? “Creating assets which have value also adds the gold to an individuals portfolio”?
(edited by DigitalKirin.9714)
Destroying items doesn’t remove gold.
Removing gold removes gold.
The sky is blue because it’s blue.
Destroying assets which have value also removes the gold those items could’ve been sold for from an individual’s portfolio.
If I own 4 paintings and light them on fire….
Let’s say that there’s 100 people in an economy with 10 gold each, meaning there’s 1,000 gold in the system. Let’s say that each person also owns 4 lvl80 rare swords. (400 rare swords.)
If 50 people throw their swords into the mystic forge and get back a single lvl80 rare sword back, how much gold did the system lose?
Edit: Bonus question: how much was each sword worth (assuming they were the exact same sword) before and after the 50 mystic forge attempts?
Double Edit: The sky is blue because of Raleigh Scattering.

Dungeon yolos atm : http://www.twitch.tv/jeremlloyd
You can view it again there: http://www.twitch.tv/jeremlloyd/b/525581354. That was a lot of fun
“Wait, how are we going to do this?”
“Um… YOLO?”
… I won’t save 1000 gold to buy one because paying another player off for being lucky when I wasn’t isn’t how I choose to play. And by the time I save 1000 gold precursors will be 1500 gold.
This is exactly the issue. I don’t like paying my precious gold to some lucky Joe. I would rather spend it on some vendor, or whatever… but not to give 1000g!!!! to someone else.
And another problem is that, by the time I will save the last 500g on Dusk, it won’t be 1000 but 1500g((((
Do people buy any of their rares/exotics off of the TP for throwing into the Mystic Forge? If yes, how does it differ from buying your precursor off of the TP?
Who said anything about measuring through damage dealt?
Time it takes to complete said content is another way in which it is measured and my prior reply still applies.
You can call bs as much as you’d like. It really doesn’t bother me. People who are observant and call tell what others are wearing in their party. People who aren’t observant will say it doesn’t matter what gear a person wears.
Who said anything about measuring through damage dealt?
I notice. I just don’t call people on it. I leave that to the “ping gear or kick” crowds.
If anything, I’ll usually make comments in guild chat. And when I’m done with a party, I’ll just say, “Welp, done. G’luck all. May your guardians always have reflect handy.”
Just you. The fractal reset took people from over lvl 30 and set them at 30. Maybe you just remembered what level you were incorrectly.
A, B, D.
/15charrsploits.
Can confirm most armor on Charr looks downright silly.
Nonsense sir. Here is a picture of my Charr wearing her light armor.
Notice how well fitting is is and how the hood is purrfect on her.
That’s not bad for Charr light armor. What pieces are you using?
Players Against Stacking and Skipping, EU Edition? (PASSÉ?)
Puppeh!

They made some changes to the Grief Button. (a.k.a. “Merge Parties”)
Well, you stack to avoid his knockdowns — since knockdown + dmg is an easy way to wind up downed or dead;
Being stacked won’t prevent being knocked down.
Its: “Hey colesy, want to join me while I teach a new player the ropes in AC? We can giggle and make jokes in TS.”
Its: “Hey sexy players let’s take level 2’s into fractals and complete it and take screens because it’s fun.”
Its: “let’s make some gold so I can change my characters armor once a week like I want to.”
Its: “Hey let’s create a community where we learn and play together, without judging other people for how they like to play.”
Because that’s what I’ve found. That’s what makes this game great. Again. The gameplay is up to you. Make your own Darn fun. Stop trying to ruin others.
Today I present to you the coveted and highly prestigious “Internet Plue One” Award.

I remember not having my hands on my keyboard, when suddenly three maw tentacles spawned. Ping, pong, ping… dead.
…
What…
were you doing with your hands at the time…?
Should I have even asked that question?
I feel like I’m going to regret the answer.
Account bound, if they’re the chests I think you’re trying to describe, and yes, they reset with the daily reset.
**panics***
they want a “fractals” track in SPvP
I dont know how i feel about that.
I’d feel okay… If they had to complete a 40+ fractal to unlock the track and it’s not part of the regular rotation.
Ctrl-Right mouse click on your heal. (That’s the Autoattack function.)
Can someone enlighten me about how the earth attack of Subject Alpha works exactly? I’m always standing inside him without melee assist and get almost one shotted on Ele.
They fixed it so standing inside him no longer avoids it. You have to dodge (near impossible in melee). You can sort of predict it and if your group has enough dps you can just fgs burst before it becomes a problem. But yeah them fixing that attack is the reason i decided not to pug coe on my ele anymore.
If you wait until the very last split second to dodge the ice attack (at least on P3) your dodge frames will carry over to the earth attack. It’s probably too risky to consistently attempt, though, but nice when you accidentally get it.
Zerkers, typically, only care about DPS and themselves. Nothing else matters to them.
I find this terribly untrue. Every group will have the vocal and angry people, but for the zerkers, they don’t represent the majority. Heck, there are plenty of angry and negative people on the other side of the camp who are militantly opposed to people who use zerk gear, such as yourself.
For being selfish, this is also untrue. Being able to down the monsters faster means less time they can deal damage to my teammates. Additionally, I’m bringing plenty of support to my team whether it be through banners, fury and might, or aegis, protection and reflects, or a myriad of other support buffs.
A team that synergizes well will mean everyone stays up. It usually also means sharing the same goal.
True story: Before I really started exploring getting more DPS, I was a Rabid Condi warrior. (This was also before stacking was a thing.) You know what spurred me to looking into meta builds? Fighting Subject Alpha. The exact moment was when it was down to me and one other teammate, and he got crystalled. “Get me out,” he cried while I chopped at it with my swords. I couldn’t do it before the next Alpha attack, and he went down. And that’s when I knew that being tanky in this game wasn’t helping my teammates.
On a second point, many of the people who you have disparaged are also people who have created initiatives where they will gladly mentor people seeking to learn dungeons. They give their time with the intent to help people learn about dungeons and not be afraid of them.
And guess what? The result is the same! Mobs die, boss gets killed, people get loot.
It isn’t the same. Because I and many have a different goal than you. People have fun, run is completed quickly with few or no deaths (ideally).
What honestly works best is to just stop hating the other side. Let them do their thing, and you do your thing. Both sides would be happier if everyone stopped spewing this vitriol around.
What’s the lore behind the Winged Set?
Well their only homosexual relationships I’ve noticed are between attractive females.
Logan and Rytlock are two attractive males. What about their relationship?
I feel somewhat evil. I am enjoying the fact that as people cry about their dual legendaries and wardrobe, all I can think of is how people in the fractal reset thread said, “just wait until this happens to you.” And it kind of reminds me of something I’d wanted to paraphrase but never had the opportunity to…
This forum is afraid of me… I have seen its true face. The GD forum is an extended gutter and the gutter is full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the casuals will drown. The accumulated filth of their anti-zerker rhetoric will foam up about their waists and all the bowbear and staff guardians will look up and show “Save us!” … and I’ll look down and whisper “No.”
I should probably take a break from the forums for a bit.
May the community give you as much sympathy and understanding and may ANet give you as much compensation as those who lost levels during the Fractal Reset.
Got a drop from a 49! But it was healer chest of ascended gloves. :X
Well… any of those armors usable in WvW on necro or warrior…?
Aren’t they adding a new map to custom arenas?
Dungeon Reset happens at the same time as Daily Reset. That happens at Midnight UTC. (You’ll have to convert based on your timezone.)
For each path that you run, you will get the regular rewards + a “bonus” reward. Every dungeon has a story path + 3 explorable paths except for Arah, which has 4 explorable paths.
The “Bonus” rewards is given only once per daily reset. In most story paths this is like 50 silver (and that onetime bonus rare head armor). In most explorable paths the gold amount varies between 1 and 3 gold, and 40 of that dungeon’s tokens.
The regular rewards tend to be 26 silver – and if it’s an explorable path, 20 of the dungeon’s tokens. This amount may be lowered if you’re running the path again back-to-back really quickly, but I don’t recall the amount because nobody runs the same path back-to-back that quickly anymore (people used to for CoF P1).
XP gained is usually about 3/4ths of a character level for explorable, and I think less for story?
If you want to level up, keep doing story modes. People usually expect a level 80 for explorable modes. However! You can form your own party so long as you say “Non-80s are welcome” or something to that extent in your LFG comment.
This is really a seriuous problem .
Happend the second time for me now ( well in a couple of month but still ).
What can one do to prevent this ?
Seriously, just wasted 1 hour of my gametime because of these idiots !
You can reduce the likelihood of you being kicked by:
1. Learning the fights, and the most common methods that people use to fight them.
2. Being a team player. If the instance owner/leader asks for something in a non-offensive manner, consider being a good guy and trying to oblige.
3. Don’t start with the idea that people are idiots.
4. Start your own instances. Then you are the rule setter.
Would it be a solution to have everyone in the group vote for the kick ?
This would be a solution that many people have asked for. ANet has yet to respond. You’ll just be another body on an already massive pile.
Shouldn’t you play at all if you see that there are 2 ppl from the same Guild in a Grp ?
My guild invites pugs all the time. We don’t kick people. “We’re not like those other men.” (Bonus points if you know where this quote comes from.)
In the end, it’s your prerogative whether or not to play with people who are in the same guild. If you don’t want to, be polite when you bow out
I reported the one person i remember from the Group, /w him to ask if this is really serious and why the hell.
He told me just that he is not the one kicking, but refused to tell me the other players names.
So i guess he was just involved.
You should be careful about using the report button on people who actually didn’t kick you. And don’t assume he’s involved just because he doesn’t want to talk.
Its also a shame that the whole /party chat gets deleted after you are kicked out , so no chance to get the names of the ppl unless you /w with them before.
It is a shame. You should take screenshots of people’s names before you really get the party underway. Just in case.
Does A-net even do anything about ppl that one reports for abusing the LFG ?
ANet doesn’t say.
In the end, if you play competently and have a really nice and positive attitude, you’re less likely to be kicked. Before pointing your fingers at other people for “wasting your time,” consider what things you did that might have spurred them to want to kick you.
