Bah! Well. I missed it cause I’m not awake at 5:30am pacific. Sorreh.
Grats everyone, good to see such a turnout!
Again, thank you Lilith for running these!
I would probably switch to working on a different legendary. Ironically I am working on bifrost, and with mega server a staff weapon is too slow to tag anything. 1 second casting time on an ele means that by the time the projectile reaches the target its already dead.
Sometimes it’s not you who chooses the legendary, but the legendary that chooses you? I like that.
It really depends, but probably not. I’m really kind of set on what I want and would lose a pile of gold if I changed now.
But what would you do with the precursor you had? Would you just store it, or give it to an alt?
Just curious for those of you who say you wouldn’t buy one from the TP. What would happen if you got a precursor drop (let’s say from a champ box), but it wasn’t the one you were working on. Would you choose to switch to building that legendary instead of the one you were originally working on?
I don’t have a male norn.
clever guardian
I think in theory the higher ticking condition in case of burning or poison should be the one working on the target.
Sadly, theory doesn’t account for much until tested (as much as some people might like to believe).
But I admit that I have absolutely no Idea how this is handled in case of bleed stacks for example. Might be first come first served, might be that stonger bleeds overwrite weaker, might be a combination of both.
I don’t think that stronger bleeds overwrite weaker bleeds. Consider this: If stronger bleeds overwrite weaker bleeds, then if you have a world boss with let’s say 2-3 condi built players attacking it, then what happens when a non-condi specced player puts a bleed on the stack? Does it just not go in? Does it go in, then immediately disappear soon as one of the condi-specced players puts a bleed on the stack?
From observation of world bosses, you can see that even non-condition specced players will usually get a few bleed ticks in. This means they’re hanging out in the stack long enough to get ticked.
Hmmm. Well we know things like bleed work in a FIFO like manner, yes? Once you hit 25 bleeds, if you add a new bleed, it pushes the oldest bleed out of the stack. /shrug
Also, no clue on how damage is handled for “stacks in duration” conditions. (If you burn a mob, and then someone else burns it… how does it determine how much damage is dealt?)
They changed mage crusher!!! No longer afk!!! Yay!!!!
A long needed change, I think.
Alphard’s back to her old non-insta-blow-up self.
I would only like to say that because TC is one of the most populated NA servers and a high percentage of those players roleplay somewhat that a good amount of people do actually assume roles in game. However it is not a majority, but I’d throw around the 10% estimation of NA players assume a role in terms of roleplaying at least one of their characters.
1 in 10 sounds pretty good to me.
But two or three people equate to 99.9% of MMORPG player population?
Edit: Given the amount of characters Lilith has made, it’s possible, but no probable. o_o)-b
The “role” in role playing game doesn’t mean “role” as in healer, tank, support, dps. It means the portrayal of a persona different from yours.
That can be applied as being different from the 99.9% of the players
running zerk gear.
Most people don’t assume any role portrayal in most MMOs, holy trinity or not.

So if they’re claiming “engineers are bad” the burden of proof is on them. You can frame it as “Guang claims engies are good so he should prove it” or “rT claims engies are bad so they should prove it.”
No. The status quo is what you’re arguing against. This may include, but is not limited to rT members. Right now the overall speedrun mindset is that Engineers have no place there. They don’t need to prove the status quo, it’s already there. You need to prove that there is something different/better when you use engineer.
You need to Hypothesize (you’ve done this part), experiment/collect data, and provide an appropriate conclusion based on the collected data. You’ve not done the latter parts.
They’re the ones “claiming” it doesn’t work. It goes both ways. I’ve provided the theory, they’re the ones claiming it doesn’t work in practice. If that’s their stance they should do something to prove it.
Problem with your theory is that you’ve only provided hypothesis and not added any experimentation with data to back it up. It doesn’t go both ways, the burden of demonstrating your hypothesis correct comes down to the side arguing for it, not the side arguing against it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophic_burden_of_proof#Holder_of_the_burden
You say Engineers can make speedruns better. Prove it. Proof goes beyond paper and requires actual experimentation and data.
You may say that it is cyclical logic, but look closely: we strive to claim the highest number of speed records. Sure some of us do not appreciate Guang, but the truth is that we do not care at all. If we were to hear about a way to be faster and claim more records, we would use it!!
Fair enough. I just felt like this could be a way that both sides could agree upon a course of action, but if no course is desired, not my place to pursue.
Well, the optimum guangs composition can get out of arah path 2 is like a 13-14 minutes run. Thats about as fast as an arah duo of an elementalist and a warrior, striving for a great time. It’s about 4 minutes slower than what a proper setup is capable of.
Well, my thought is that both sides should bring video evidence. In your mind, the answer is a foregone conclusion, and in Guanglai’s mind, the answer is a foregone conclusion. The resolution is simply to put the video evidence out there. No extenuating circumstances, no excuses once the videos are released.
I think what would work best, and this is just my opinion as a third party observer:
I think that both sides should make a video of a speedrun. Guanglai with his ideal party setup, and one volunteer from the speedrunning community using their ideal setup.
Here’s how I’d do it. Set a time limit on the production of this video. Like, you have 1 week to make it. I think Arah P2 was generally agreed upon, and I’m sure they could choose restricted or not. The videos are submitted privately to an impartial third party who will release the video links at the same time.
Just my thought.
/nod I know it’s a 2 part attack (the ground aoe, then the wave attack that is targetted and follows immediately after)
I just mean it seems to vary when these attacks happen. Normally you’d see them happen just as he’kittenting the ground. This is the expected effect and a well timed dodge can avoid both of the attacks.
It’s just that sometimes he’ll leap in the air and literally be in mid air when the attacks happen. I’ll see if I can maybe get a video of it next time I do this run and catch a few bugged attacks.
I figured out where Lilith makes all her monies!!
Just a thought I had while watching him leap on me after a very unexpected timing for his AoE attack.
I noticed that sometimes he’ll leap up in the air, and instead of his AoE attack happening as he comes down, it’ll hit you (and then the ground attack right after, of course) as he’s in mid air or as he’s jumping upwards.
My thought is that if there’s some terrain that he “clips” on the way up, the stairs for example, it’ll trigger the code that normally fires when he “touches the ground”. Just a theory based on watching him, but I’d need to verify with more runs, I think.
Anyone else observe his odd ground attack behavior?

Additionally, I’d highly recommend you check out youtubes of the popular dungeon guilds.
I’ll take that to mean you recognize the DPS potential but botched the rotation and something silly happened when you actually tried it in a dungeon.
I knew this would happen.
Friendly bump!
Hoping that with summer and free time that people who are looking for a family friendly guild will notice and take interest.
It’s this kitten mouth of mine.
I’d be willing to try to curb it, but I’d have to be permanently in the bad language time out mumble room if ever speaking.
I’d love to give it a shot though.
I’ll send an invite when I get home.
:x Makes me sad that you don’t have a guild. Wish there was something I could do.
Buuuu, okie. You swear like a pie-rat?
I offered once before, haha.
http://www.NoblePhantasm.com
Really the only thing is to keep it PG-13 (no bad language and stuff) since we strive to be a fun, family safe guild.
I was super rude today. I was fractaling with no pulse, ariete, and someone else they knew plus one pug. I was doing pretty poorly on my guardian at growl and I saw my AR trinkets weren’t on. So I got my AR up and the pug asks if I have AR. I said yes.
So then another wipe happens. I’m so bad at guardian. The pug goes “switch back to your ele, you need AR”. So I then flipped out in my root canal rage and said “f*** you” pings 38 AR “f*** yourself” initiate vote kick. On TS I demanded they second it.
I was very rude. But it made me feel so good. I hope I get an angry thread dedicated to me soon.
I’ve had those nights before where you just can’t seem to nail your Aegis timing, or your walls just don’t come up at the right moment and you just get flattened on your guard. I hope you’re feeling better, though. I don’t usually envision you as someone initiating vote kicks. Course, some ppl just rub you the wrong way, haha. I can understand vote-kicking someone who doubts you. That’s why as a PUG I always try to keep my mouth shut.
I’m not claiming to take sides, I just find the discussion intriguing and hope for my engi’s sake that Guang is correct. As I said above, I’m willing to front all my in-game gold.
Fair enough. I’m fine with that, but of course, I’m not the one that would really need convincing since I’m not in any of those guilds. I just wouldn’t want to see anyone’s time wasted without a modicum of compensation.
And that being said, that means their time and effort is valuable. If you really truly believe in guanglai’s team comp, you’d be willing to put your money behind it.
Except the burden of proof is for Guanglai to prove himself Right, not for others to prove him wrong. Besides, if we wanted to prove him wrong, we could just ask him how many might stacks a PS warrior can maintain on a group.
I hope you have a good insurance policy on the loans you grant!
Well if Guanglai doesn’t have the money, maybe Nevets will front the cash.
I think it would be unfair to have any guild, rT or otherwise, do this all pro bono (especially since nobody in any of those guild actually said they’d do it). If you truly believe that this composition will break a record, I would think you’d be willing to fund the specific builds that would be used to make the run. (Specific runes, etc.)
Hey, you want me to theorycraft you a build, I’m right here. I’m ready whenever you are.
Any luck in theorycrafting up a warrior build that maintains 22-25 stacks of might for the group?
Like a circus… That’s intense.
Lilith, you’re gonna have more gifts to give than Santa Claus at this rate.
That pic is awesome. Did they pay you 1 gold?
/side news- hanging out at work, apparently my home got an automated evac order for the San Diego brush fires :P
Re: Battle standard
You are looking at either of two situations:
1) You are in a pug and people are downing everywhere, you have no AOE fury, and you need all the might stacks you can get for bosses because that’s where your DPS will be most lacking.
You completely fail to refute my points. In fact, your statement “you need all the might stacks you can get for bosses” only helps reinforce the fact that SoR is useful since the permafury uptime helps you maintain a high level of might stacks more consistently than Battle Standard.
You are just planning for failure.
Even bear form is better than the signet in organized groups with multiple eles. Might is wasted, fury is wasted, swiftness is provided from other sources + hylek pot.
Part of the situation is that it isn’t an organized party.
I was referring to
DD uses it. I guess we’re too casual to know why though :/
That context helps.
Even bear form is better than the signet in organized groups with multiple eles. Might is wasted, fury is wasted, swiftness is provided from other sources + hylek pot.
Part of the situation is that it isn’t an organized party.
Why would you use Signet of Rage? You want Battle Standard.
I only put SoR on my bar for Deep Strikes to max out crit chance.
Do you plan for success or do you plan for failure?
If you’re planning on using Battle Standard, you’re already expecting your team to fail and for you to have to use it. By planning for failure, you’re also helping create a situation where failure is more likely by not supplying the most positive support to help your team succeed.
If you’re planning on using SoR, you’re planning on maximizing DPS and helping the team with keeping might maxed. Faster kills means people are less likely to go down.
Now does this mean one is superior than another? Certainly not, but if SoR has such great synergy with the build, why neglect using it? Seriously, you’re like “Look how terrible this build is at generating might! Especially if I don’t use one of the tools on it!” I could say Engineer sucks at team DPS, especially when I take away your bomb kit and give you an elixir gun instead.
FGJ = 10/25 = 40% fury uptime, don’t be silly.
SoR with traited cool down = 30/48 = 62.5% fury uptime.
You’re not using your SoR.
I feel like somehow this is my fault that were digging up the past. O.O
Fault is such a negative word. Claim it, own it, revel in it.
Numbers are important. So is experience. Your unfounded claims fail in both.
Something something something kettle black.
And before we forget the original point,
The point of contention is your ridiculous lowballing of might received from a PS Build. Allies receiving 11 might sustained from a PS Build? Utter ridiculousness.
This is what you said:
We’re looking at like 10-15 stacks of might from Phalanx from an pug warrior with Forceful Greatsword
These are the responses:
Phalanx is very easy 25 might in a matter of a few seconds. If anyone can’t attain it something is seriously wrong.
I tested phalanx strength in low-man Arah settings and it maintains 22-25 might with strength runes and a strength sigil. Guang doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
Until you do better math, Guanglai, don’t worry about comparing Warrior and Engi. Nobody else on this thread is.
Your warrior isn’t that good. And I’m not that great a warrior myself. But seriously.
1. “WWA and then run back”? Base your use of WWA against a wall, or add in 2 extra hit chances for Blade Trail if you’re “running back”.
2. 50% crit chance is terribly low, even if you’re by yourself, an ascended zerk warrior can achieve permafury and put themselves at 80% crit, or even 100% if you add in food/sigils.
3. I don’t see any use of Superior Sigil of Strength in your calculations.
4. You’re calculating assuming there’s only 1 target to be hit, which is fine, but remember that soon as you cleave, you’re increasing the amount of might you receive from Forceful Greatsword.
I whipped up a build real quick. Not even sure if this is the meta for Phalanx Strength.
66% crit chance +20 from fury = 86% crit chance.
