Decay; Reduces the duration of boons by 33%, every time the target gains a boon, they take damage. Acts like immobilize where you can’t stack the duration unless you layer them on top of one another at the end of the duration.

Question, if the boon is applied by somebody else, who is punished? Would the applier be punished (opening the window to the complaint that the applier can’t always see what conditions people have and therefore could not prepare for the damage) or would the recipient be punished (opening the argument that somebody else applied a boon that they didn’t want and just killed them)?

The other option is to only damage outgoing boons (whether on self or others), but then boons applied by friendly Guardians would not be effected and the condition becomes much less useful.

I was thinking it would affect all boons applied to the target, from friends or self but the more I think about it, the more I realize it would be good in high level play but a bit OP in low level play because of the lack of communication.

There is one hex in GW1 that would be fun to see in GW2 as a condition; Winter’s Embrace.

How it would work in GW2;

Since we already have wide access to damaging conditions (except burn), I’d like to see a more “tactical” condition, something that hinders the effectiveness of enemies in combat… Something like ‘counter-haste’ would be cool, think of Shadow of Fear in gw1.
Or, alternatively, something that makes foes unable to get boons, since boon hate is so popular these days: like Shadow Shroud.

I hope they give us a complete new condition: not another damaging one or some cripple/chill derivate.

I can agree on not being overly pessimistic and negative.
But please: it’s just as silly to be overly confident and positive.
These aren’t such wonderfull things to be jumping for joy for…

First of: incendiary power got a LOT less uptime now, which tends to hurt a lot of Flamethrower builds.

FT has burning on last hit of auto-attack, so this trait change doesn’t affect it all that much. In fact, the 4 seconds with a 100% chance on crit and 10s recharge alongside FT is almost perma burn.

On the second point of the traits:
this is as much bad news as it is hopefull…
Yes, they did merge traits and create new traits. But NO: they didn’t think engineers were worthy of such changes.
This is a clear sign, they didn’t even MENTION engineer traits to ever be changed for the better.
We got incendiary power nerfed, that’s our trait change.

When I heard they were redesigining traits I was happy and hopefull.
Till I saw they weren’t bothering for engineers…
If they don’t think we need those new traits now, why would they do it later?

Because they iterate? They didn’t change Warrior traits before but they did them now. Seriously, you made no point here.

I don’t think 409 will be nerfed because it’s not like you can pop off 3 elixirs and tosses in a second (which the ele could do with their skills that were instant cast).

I’ve fought quite a few HGH engies with my build and they aren’t as immune to condis as Eles were before this nerf.

I guess my issue with this is that, if they’re making gadgets just like signets, then why don’t they just give the engineer signets and be done with it?

I’d rather have something unique to the class instead of a retextured signet.

Because Engies aren’t magic based I guess and I believe they would rather not introduce new skills to one class and leave other classes out. Gadgets could be more than just retextured signets if they make their passives make sense. If you think about it like the engineer is actually wearing the gadgets on him, the passives definitely make sense as well.

My suggestions would be;

Utility Goggles; Immune to blind passive
Fury and stun break active

Rocket Boots; Speed boost passive
Stun break and leap active. No crash landing please or just make it so that the KD doesn’t last so bloody long.

Slick Shoes; Improve endurance regen passive
Oil spill active.

Personal Battering Ram; Improves tougness passive? (I was actually thinking of something slightly different from the normal passives where the Ram would activate if you take damage more than 10% of your maximum health) and it knocks back 3 people not 1.

I totally agree. Thats the main problem of Guild Wars 2. It has nothing to do with Guilds!!!
Give motivation to Guilds, this would be a huge boost. Everyone would love to have their own Guild Arena, and have Guild pvp Rankings. Solo Queing is what makes people leave this game.

I think owning and maintaining a server is what a guild would be able to do more efficiently than an individual. A collective gold bank is greater than that of one man… unless you play the market that is, in which case you are a one man guild.

I like the ideas. Just a couple of things. The skill 4 “Taser” is almost identical to Shield 5, and the the “dealing bonus damage to vulnerable foes” is a little redundant, don’t ya think?

However, I can definitely see myself wielding a lightning rod and feeling awesome while doing it. Heck, I’d take almost any new weapon for an engi.

Yea, in retrospect, Taser was supposed to be “your next attack stuns the target” and it kind of slipped my mind. And the “dealing bonus damage to vulnerable foes”, I just thought adding 10% more damage to the already increasing percentage would give the auto attack some hmpf.

Greatswords can fit into the Vampiric lore of a Necromancer, and many other games include a Greatsword usable in special ways by a Necromancer. Plus it’s the only other solid weapon besides Sword a Necro should wield in this game.

I’ve never played or heard of such games so maybe I’m a bit out of the loop but my train of thought is, if someone can say “Greatswords, we can make them work on Necros” then someone could just as easily do the same for shields or any weapon really regardless of lore or what people “think” the status quo should be.

Yes. I’m a part of a generation that is a bit more traditional in actually not having blatant stupidity in every single one of my games.

I’m against Kratos from God of War flinging around giant glowsticks on chains instead of the traditional Spartan weaponry. Which would’ve made it more kitten, imo.

Funny thing is, you’re okay with Necros wielding Greatswords but Shields? Oh no, Grenth forbid that a Necro use an enchanted shield.

After toying around with the idea of Staves for Engineers on the Engineer forums, I decided to look at other weird weapon/class match-ups that could potentially work with the right ideas applied to it. Necros and Shields came to mind and this match up that would have never crossed my mind began to make sense when I got to brainstorming about skill ideas. How would Necros wield these inherently defensive weapons you might ask?
Well here my suggestions;

Skill 4:
Insidious Aura (cast time; Instant)
For a short period of time, every time you take damage, you also steal health from your attacker.
Duration: 5secs

OR

Barbed Aura
All incoming attacks are blocked. Enemies who attack in melee range suffer from bleeding.
Bleed Duration: 3secs
Block Duration: 3secs
(But I do like the Insidious Aura better because of the synergy with my proposed skill 5 below)

Skill 5:
Tainted Shield (Cast time; 1sec)
For a short period of time, every time you are attacked, your target is poisoned and weakened.
Duration: 5sec
Weakness Duration; 2sec
Poison Duration; 1sec

So what are your thoughts on a shield wielding Necro?

I know what you’re thinking, “How the heck is a staff going to fit the aesthetic of the Engi? You must be crazy!” and my answer would be, “I’m an Engineer, of course I’m crazy!”

Anyway, the real answer to your question would be; Tuning Fork/Lightning Rod (think about it!). I’m pretty sure the next question in your head is, “Isn’t a Tuning Fork more akin to a Scepter?” and the answer to that would be yes, but I chose to go with a Staff because of the abilities I have in mind.

And finally, the biggest question in your mind probably is “How the heck would that work?” Well let’s take a look at the skill ideas I have in mind and you give me your opinions and your ideas.

Skill 1:
Lightning ball; Chain Attack
Generate a ball of lightning that bounces between foes in the area, making them vulnerable.
Bounces; 3
Vuln; 1 Stack (5s)
Range; 1200

Second Chain Attack; Tezlrr’s Bolt
Generate a bolt of lightning that bounces between foes making them vulnerable
Bounces; 3
Vuln; 1 stack (5s)
Range; 1200

Third Chain Attack; Sonic Wave
Hit all targets in a straight line, deals additional damage to vulnerable foes.
Range; 1200

Skill 2:
Shattering Wave; (cast time 1/2)
Channel a sonic wave that destroys incoming projectiles and deals damage to foes in front of you.
Range; 600
Duration: 3sec

Skill 3:
Sonic Quake; Chain skill(cast time; 3/4s)
You send sonic vibrations into your staff. Tossing the staff at a target location knocks down all nearby foes.
Range; 600
Radius; 180
KD; 2sec
Blast Finisher
Chain Skill; Magnetic Tether
Leap towards the location of your staff

Skill 4:

If Custom Arenas are replacing hotjoin and they cost money, and hotjoin is free…

This could potentially kill off the population of prospective PvPers that don’t have gems/lots of gold. This will truly make PvP quite a “small town.”

It doesn’t cost gems to play on a server, only to own one.

Are you certain that relying on players’ generosity is a solid way of promoting pvp?
Especially in an already dwinding community.

Has been for a while now. Even if player generosity isn’t there, there’s always Anet generosity.

I admit that… Well, with the few HGH prownesses, Engi finally became “cool” and the only thing they have in their kitten mouth is HGH. That gameplay is amongst the most BORING and UNINTERESTING ones ever, except for the fact of being like “Hey, I’m an engineer I’m sure you never saw that class before, I’ll explain to you, so you take HGH and…”

People want to be rewarded with kit switching and gadgets, or at least stand a chance. All of that got slaughtered when looking to remove 100nades.

HGH is not as boring or as easy as the other FOTM builds, in fact it requires a lot of skill to play effectively against all the other FOTM builds that could easily one-shot you.
By itself, it’s easy to play but when you look at what you’re fighting against, it becomes a little more than just tossing grenades.

But if you do want a might stacking build that doesn’t involve chugging and throwing, you can always take a look at this one; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmW__JFzDOQ . It uses Combo field might stacking alongside some other gear and skills to get up to 20-25 stacks in the middle of the fight.

Just dueled a mesmer with my bunker engi. I came with 2k toughness, 24k vit, and a reduced cooldown elixir (32 seconds) that converts all conditions to boons for 5 seconds.

Death breakdown included:
10k bleeding
9k illusionary unload
4k retaliation

The mesmer spent about 1/5th of the time invulnerable with blurred frenzy, I spent about 90% of the time dazed, stunned, or confused: not a gg.

If the s/p combo still works on you, you’re doing it wrong. Only chumps get rolled by s/p.

Nah, GW2 pvp is unbalanced, and unregulated cheese like this is why most people quit. Anet themselves already played out the ‘L2P’ defense, so troll somewhere else.

Elixir C (even if it has a “duration”) doesn’t actually convert boons for 5 seconds. You’d have been better off taking Elixir R and using the toolbelt skill to cleanse condis. This is why Anet needs to clean up their tool tips, it’s just bloody confusing.

And how is getting killed by conditions worse than just being killed by crits?

Crits, you die fast. Condis, you die frustratingly slowly… I guess that’s it.

No wonder confusion mesmers easily kill me…. That just makes me angry now.

11- Enable auto target on cast to be set on a per skill basis (sort of like auto cast is now) as opposed to all or none.

Hi, I would like to see something like this:

When I fight anyone with pets, autotargetting is my worst enemy. If I pull a Ranger with Magnet pull and I try to follow that up with a prybar, and the pet is standing right next to me, auto-targetting switches my target to the pet and I go for the pet instead. That was when I turned off auto-T.

5- If you have at least 6 of the same rune in your inventory and you apply one to an armor piece a pop screen appears that says “would you like to apply this rune to the rest of your armor? ‘yes’ or ‘no’ " and if you click yes, you guessed it, it automatically puts it on the rest of your armor.

5) I really don’t like suggestions like this, because its a complete band-aid solution to something that should just be redesigned for PvP. Why do you need to even buy free items to apply it 6 times? This is a feature owned by the PvP team.

This is the moment where I ask you guys why you didn’t have it the way you had it in GW1. Where all your gear was in the PvP equipment menu and you could mix and match to your heart’s content.

Weapons were paired with Inscriptions and other accessories, armour was paired with runes and insignias, no need for vendors or even saving 250 of everything you use in your inventory (only to mistakenly deposit everything later on), you just had everything in that nice menu and it was all good.
