With the recent guild transfers to BG, coverage-wise (as in around the clock coverage), my opinion is that BG is better than JQ. JQ has 2 time zones that their coverage are excellent – NA and SEA. JQ is rather weak or average in oceanic and euro time zone. BG, on the other hand, has above average or excellent coverage in NA, oceanic, SEA, and euro.

Agg, foe, atac, etc solidify their already above average NA coverage. Merc, probably the biggest oceanic guild, with 500 members, is a huge boost to their oceanic coverage. And I dare say, they might have the best oceanic out of all NA servers (if not 1st then maybe 2nd to SOS). ND was a good addition to their SEA coverage. Without RG and votf (heard they went back to EU server), HB, which is now the best euro guild in NA server, controls the euro time zone.

I will agree that BG has around the clock coverage, yes.

JQ has one guild in particular that is either huge as hell or pulls 12 hour shifts a night, FOO. JQ better hope that guild never leaves them or they will drop like an anchor in an ocean. Why do I say this? They span from Oceanic to Euro.

No offense to any of the guilds on JQ btw.

Also, MERC HAD 500 members, that doesn’t mean all of them transferred, nor does it mean all of those were even active.

I haven’t heard anything about this…I really don’t get the sentiment behind this. Lack of coverage? I think we held up really well against JQ, until the very end there. The fights were amazing and fun, even those against SoR. I just don’t get why people are so hell-bent on winning. We don’t get anything valuable from it. The fun is in the game itself and I think the fights have been epic. So, here’s to hoping no one ‘bandwagons’.

Best practice is to not take these kind of posts seriously, especially given the source of the information.

What’s even more hilarious is the people making these post don’t even realize the SoS guilds (like our Oceanic’s) are still transferring over to BG as we speak lol. The next major move is this weekend.

To be honest, this statement is true. Kaineng may have a good oceanic coverage, but they couldn’t take BG’s new oceanic. So with JQ and BG’s oceanic’s, Kaineng’s wouldn’t be able to gain a good point lead overnight. Their NA crew would be destroyed too.

Btw, the SoS guilds aren’t even fully transferred yet. Most of the SoS members should be fully transferred in another week.

The reason is because each map = seperate server running them.

The server is what can’t keep up, not the player’s computers. Now, with that in mind, you have a large scale battle in a small space. All of these AOE’s causing damage, players running everywhere, health bars are changing, skill cooldown’s are changing, etc etc. Well, the server has to register ALL OF IT and send it to EVERYONE’s computer that is seeing that fight.

Well, that is a TON of data being sent in such short periods of times that the server begins to become bogged down.

Alright computer lesson time, a computer can only process one set of instructions at a time. Even if the instructions are performed asynchronously a processor’s core can only process one set of instructions. Now, if their servers are running 2x 8 core processors than it can process 16 set’s of instructions simultanously. If their servers were hyper threaded to created logical cores it would still only process 16 set’s of instructions simultanously! Logical cores != physical cores.

So back to the subject, all of that processing in such a short period of time. Now, check this out. When you press to use a skill, that command get’s sent to their web server. And get’s placed on the end of the “stack”. When it sends the information back to state it’s going to fire off, initiate cd, that get’s placed on the “stack”.

Now, granted this stack for the most part is nonexistent practically since there isn’t a huge demand all at once (like in very large scale battles where it becomes laggy) which would create an actual stack. The server sends the information from the stack by FIFO (first in first out). This creates the “lag”.

You would think Blackgate would care about their own server and go and clear out the JP so we could collect siege instead of TC having hundreds of siege for the next battle. Oh well, guess BG isn’t 100% dominating.

BG isn’t a jumping puzzle guard nor do we camp it. Guilds will have a mesmer run it and port everyone up almost every day.

Plus, we actually gain money through the loot bags in WvW to just buy the siege. Weekly guild donations….etc.

If you’re not experiencing queues this week it’s because we are 2x the score (65k+) of the 2nd place server, so there isn’t a need to push.

We need one more week in tier 2 for the rest of the transfer to come over. What you see isn’t all what you get. We don’t even have a 1/5 of MERC yet….

That’s about all I can say as the rest is internal.

So ultimately, WvW isn’t about server pride or loyalty. It’s just a group of guilds versus another group of guilds. They just happen to represent a server at a specific moment, but is far less reflective of its entirety.

Ultimately, Guild Wars 2 is about having fun. What you conceive as fun may not be what others do. I am sure you can respect that.

Stop blaming the glicko system. Its people. This system doesn’t work if someone isn’t okay being second or third place. The tier 1 merry-go-round will continue on and on and on no matter what system they use because of a huge mass of fair weather players and guilds in the top 4 servers. What happens if BG gets to T1 and loses to JQ? Stay tuned and find out.

I’m a little sad at how outnumbered we (TC) are at the late night hours. Had a lot of fun a few months back with BG before they moved up tier and before we caught up. Now it feels like we can’t put up the kind of fight we use to be proud of. Maybe i’m just not seeing how things are during the day.

You guys honestly bring a fierce NA force!

BG fixed the issue by simply talking to the workers (literally).

Our issue was the workers just stopped doing anything even though the keep had supply and an upgrade in progress.

I have read that you can only equip two UNIQUE ascended rings. So that means you cannot equip 2x ring of deaths? Maybe you can but you do not get the stats from both but only one?

If the above is true, than can I equip a ring of death (offensive infusion slot) AND a Crystalline Band (defensive infusion slot)? They both give the EXACT same stats wise but one is Offensive and the other is Defensive.

I honestly don’t mind a thief ressurecting a mesmer inside a keep/tower trick. That is honestly a legit tactic.

What isn’t cool is a thief perma stealthing by c&ding a wall for over an hour to ressurect a mesmer. You very well know that is not intended game play and thus unsportsman like. And saying "its not our fault Anet hasn’t fixed it. Does that mean everyone should start using the teleport hacks since Anet hasn’t fixed those either?

And to stay for us to go around aoeing, pressing 1 on on every wall is ridiculous.

Anyways, I know we can’t change the acts of an entire server. But i hope those who read this will rise above and play as the players I know and respect.

Actually, to be honest and I know I will get trolled for this but it is the truth. I RARELY see any d/d ele’s in WvW. It is mostly 2h staff. I see a pretty balanced amount of all classes though.

Now, if most ele’s are like me and switch between 2h staff and d/d than that would make sense. But as of right now, I hardly run into a d/d ele when I am occassionally roaming solo or even with a zerg.

Btw, I play in tier 1/2 at least 3 hours a day up to 12 hours. So I do believe I would get a nice view of classes I see.

Yeah, having been at Durios earlier, I can tell you HB had that place full of superior arrow carts. It was a literal killing zone in the courtyard there. Only solution I can think of would have been to target Durios with about 4-5 trebs. Course then, we would have had an HB rush…very unpleasant….

Same exact thing happened last night in KN BL at bay. WM completely outmanned BG so BG sieged inner bay like it was our last stand (cause it was lol). WM trebbed two inner walls down but could never make it inside alive. After 2 hours, WM left to go to EB, so we capped the rest of their BL.

The only thing keeping it close is BG and Kain huge coverage gaps during each others main coverage. So they take turns turning the map all one color during Sea/EU. Then TC comes on during NA and keeps BG from completely turning the map green during that time. Based on the points progression on Mos it looks like Kain is basically just WM and no one fight at any other time.

Before I say anything let me just say I am a random BG guild member. Not a leader, not part of the BG war council, not anyone of particular importance really. With that being said….

This is pretty much true. Kaineng’s major strength is in their oceanic coverage due to WM fielding 500+ korean members. BG’s coverage gap = oceanic. Oceanic is the only time of day that Kaineng has a higher ppt than BG. TC’s strongest coverage is NA and they don’t play for second that’s for sure.

So this is what happens, BG oceanic is two guilds that are outmanned but not completely out played. So they hold what keeps they can. SEA logs in (HUGE HUGE THAI alliance, ND, URGE, LLB). They completely wipe Kaineng’s insominac oceanic’s and SEA while flipping t2/t3 Kaineng’s new keeps/towers. BG SEA hands it off to EU which further flips more keeps/towers. Our EU likes to stay up til 4AM everyday of the week so they overlap with NA, so NA logs and finish painting the BL’s green. NA stays up til 2AMish and hands it over to oceanics (2 guilds) which starts the vicious cycle over again.

Now, I have been developing an extremely high amount of pride for my server (BG). The amount of coordination, communication, and dedication is overhelming visible if you use BG’s public TS3 server and check the blackgatewvw forums and open your eyes to what is really going on. We have commander chat for when a BL is in need of help or to help further coordinate a move together. We have schedules for the days of the week.

That being said, and please don’t take this as a “my ego is bigger than yours” post, I seriously believe that if BG’s oceanic coverage gap were to be filled, hint hint, than BG would easily go neck and neck against JQ.

Anyways, sorry for the derailment. Hopefully everyone is enjoying the great competition in tier 1! BG’s been sharpening our swords and cleaning the blood off our boots in tier 2.

Yea, that is how I feel about blackgate get their points in EU-NA time zone, where Kain and TC have almost no Euro guilds and blackgate outnumber both servers in NA time zone.
Blackgate has good coverage, so don’t talk about other server earning their points in certain time zone like you ain’t doing such a thing.

I hope my post was not considered to be qq but more of a compliment. If I was in Kaineng’s position I would definitely be taking advantage of BG’s Oceanic gap. BG takes advantage of your weaknesses too.

It’s what you do in war, you find a weakness in your enemy and you capitalize on it. And in last nights case, Kaineng did good. 16k deficit to a 6k deficit isn’t bad.

Thanks but I usually only check that at the end of the day to get a nice overview of how we did as a server.

Everytime I check that throughout the day it is either an hour to 8 hours outdated. It took Kaineng apparently less than 20 minutes to flip the entire BG BL during Oceanic timezone. So I prefer an up to the minute scores since the scores on that site get updated too infrequently.

My goodness Kaineng really taking advantage of that coverage gap. Well played guys. I check the scores along with the blackgate forums every morning before work and school. People reported of having the outmanned buff and generally nobody around to help defend BG BL when you guys flipped it all. Time to flip it all back!

Thank goodness we made a 15k point lead during the day.

I can only imagine if we had a good force in oceanic time zone too.

WvW is all about coverage. If you were on NA than you would understand how stacked JQ really is. They have ZERO coverage gaps. All BL’s have queues practically in all time zones.

VZ may be able to kill JQ in their primetime but that means absolutely nothing when JQ can night cap it for 12 hours at 400+ ppt.

what do u think VZ has been doing for the past 7 months?

they nightcap with 600+ points in tier 1.. and u know why i say VZ will beat JQ?
cos they use tactics that other teams dont even dream about( i could give details, but the moderator will remove the post).
just check tier 1 EU thread for their “tactics”

600+ ppt in EU is most likely very different than NA. Do EU’s even have Aussie/NA/SEA/Oceanic guilds? From what I have read, VZ just stays up to cover their gaps. That is completely different from NA servers where we have multiple 500 member guilds as night crews.
