Dredge sucks. The entire thing is way to long for no real reason. They need to cut out one of the parts to it in order to shorten it down.
As of now, the only redeemable quality it has is the Miner Bags, but I much rather just avoid it entirely.
The new Mystic Weapon Icons. I logged in and happily noticed my Mystic Rifle Icon was changed to look more appealing. I checked the TP and saw they were all changed.
Good job Anet. This was a major issue that was plaguing the game for awhile now. Time spent well indeed.
So I just completed my monthly just now and did not get my 10 laurels. The patch notes says that you get 10 laurels for completing the monthly:
Patch Notes:
“Daily/Monthly Achievements
Rewards
A new currency has been added: the laurel. Players earn one laurel for completion of the daily achievement category and ten laurels for completion of the monthly achievement category.”
No where does it say that this excludes January monthly.
I want my 10 laurels. I do not care if other people completed the monthly before the patch. Your patch notes are an utter lie.
I think you’ve demonstrated the very reason they won’t allow them to be salvaged.
You have 20+ of them. If they allowed you to salvage for ectos, that’s 0-60 ectos. Multiply that by however many people have rings saved up and it’s quite an influx of ectos into the economy.
And why is that a bad thing exactly?
Oh wait, its not.
Because anet wants you to farm gem store. I have 37 rings and 31 has no use so i don’t know what they do but something must be done… im not here to merch ascended quality rings for 4s/each…
You missed the point of my post entirely. I said that that it is not a bad thing to flood the market with ecto. I did NOT say you shouldn’t bad able to salvage. Reading comprehension on these forums has been really low of late.

Be fair guys… If everyone is only looking for experience people….who will teach the news guys how to do Arah…? at this rate… the old guys get older…and the new guys will not know how to do it ? If its only 1 person, i believe its possible to teach him/her what to do, You guys didnt know how to do it at the start right ? Some one taught you.. or maybe you research…or your party previously didnt kick you out for you to try and learn right ?
So why not spread the knowledge ? I bring first timers myself
Your post is off topic.
The OP never claimed to be new to the dungeon. Also, nobody in this thread suggested kicking players for being new.
The Devs have stressed that any dungeon should be do able despite class/build composition yet this one boss breaks that idea in half.
I have seen the Devs say that you could do it with any class. I haven’t seen the Devs say that you could it with any build. I don’t think it would make much sense either; I don’t expect to be able to do it with a bad build.
I don’t see what the big deal is with having to retrait for one dungeon. It’s no like you have to reroll your character. At least in GW1, it was quite common to be required to change builds to do certain missions/quests.
Even if you retrait, your equipment still plays a large role in the fight. Having to buy new equipment for 1 fight is bad game design no denying that.
And I would love to see 5 necros or 5 engineers attempt to do this.
See, individuals like you totally screw up people’s perception of the boss. Guess what, you were doing it wrong.
We did it with 2 thiefs, 1 Mesmer, 1 ele (not specced full dps) and me, a guardian, with 1400 healing power.
She healed five times and we killed her. She doesn’t heal too fast, you just need people to learn how to kite sparks in faster.
Each time we would get her lower and lower.
It was a blast0 warriors.
Thieves, if built right, have very high dmg output with just their auto attacks on their daggers. None of us in my group were dps because we don’t’ play in that fashion. We play defensively. So none of us had over 2.7k attack. You need to have at least 3 members in the group with around 2.9k attack + to even have a chance at beating her I am willing to bet. Which means they are trying to force a group into 3 dps + 2 support or either 4 dps + 1 support.
So none of you could respec, switch traits out for more offensive options?
And let me get this right, none of you were dps but you wanted to kill a boss? Now I understand why devs are so careful (or I hope) when listening to player feedback.
“We play defensively”
I guess I just don’t know how to even respond.
You realize it’s the hardest dungeon in the game, right?
So what if it is the hardest dungeon in the game. If having a tanky playstyle is how they role, and it works, then there is nothing wrong with it.
The Devs have stressed that any dungeon should be do able despite class/build composition yet this one boss breaks that idea in half.
The fight is a “challenge” (I use that word very loosely) for all the wrong reasons.
The equation is this
Time Spent = Boss HP/DPS
This boss utterly destroys that equation and thus the “Challenge” is presented.
Look at Lupi. That boss is the hardest boss in the game for all the right reasons. He has multiple phases with different attacks that hit you hard if you do not know what you are doing. You will wipe multiple times if its your groups first time. He is “challenging content” and no one can deny this. The thing that sets Lupi different then Simin is that no matter what your build is, you still can do it. If everyone is specced as tank, its just going to take more time. For Simin, it becomes impossible and there in lies the problem.
People didn’t misunderstand your point they are flat out disagreeing with you.
How can you agree or disagree a question? I’ll let you think on that… its ok, take your time.
Um, I think you should think a bit more.
You took an obvious position on your question (CoE is boring) and people are disagreeing with this (well, actually we kinda find CoE fun!).
I think the OPs position has more to with game design choices then anything. Alpha appears no matter the path to the point where it becomes repetitive (even on your first try of a path if you have done a different path). The same goes with the other bosses he mentions (TA worm, AC spiders, some other examples: Nightmare tree, Lupi). You have to fight them no matter what you do. Its nothing new, just repetitive. He isn’t saying Alpha as a boss is not interesting, its just the way he is presented.
I think the OP was asking people: Would rather have to fight a bunch of different bosses on each path or fight the same boss no matter which path you choose?
For him, he would rather see something new and creative each path he took (I don’t blame him).
The problem with the boss isn’t spark aggro. If you understand how they aggro and attack then they are a non-issue. The problem is that others do not understand how it works.
For almost every boss in this game, the average player does not have to go learn every single mechanic of that boss (i.e. telegraphed moves, how to dodge attacks, position factors, when to range, when to melee, when to aggro, when not to aggro etc. etc.). This boss completely destroys that mentality and makes it so either your group is specced in mass DPS or your group learns what to do in every single situation during the fight and still has enough DPS to actually pull that off. If you get even 1 person in the group that does not want to take the time to learn every single mechanic or does not follow directions, the fight literally becomes impossible and you are forced to kick them or try endlessly for hours and just waste time for everyone.
Why should people have to go through that? Its unfair for the party as well as the person being kicked. Im all for challenging and interesting content, but this one maybe a tad to far.
And no I never said you have to have 5 zerker warriors to do this. I did it with a necro and an engi in my group. But having everyone max DPS makes it a hell of lot easier.
And how learning the boss fight is a bad thing when most bosses require no knowledge whatsoever? There are a lot of bosses that have interesting and unique mechanics, yet average player (even dungeon master) doesn’t even know about them and just faceroll them. I thought dungeons were supposed to be for hardcore pvers, an equivalent of raids in other mmos.
You can have 3 clueless people and 2 that knows exactly what to do. The only thing that matters is to tell them to go on the side to avoid getting aggro of sparks. Seriously, I did it yesterday with 3 people with about 1000-1500 achievement points and they were ranger, necro and thief. That can’t be that hard.
Because the problem becomes when you have to rely on other people to get it done. Unfortunately, I cannot tell people to sit on the side as I am full DPS warrior for this path which means I am being constantly petrified by the boss since she conveniently targets the highest dps. This means you are forced to assign people roles on what to do in order to complete this thing. I should not be forced to sit there spamming “Unfreeze me” because the people that need to be throwing the tears are too clueless to take initiative and be ready to unfreeze me right after I am frozen. And no matter how many times I tell people to look for the icons, they still do not understand that.
Does that make me in the right to kick someone because they are bad? I do not think Anet should make me ask that question in the first place.
Instead of having 1 boss make the difference between a successful run and hours wasted, why not just buff up the other bosses slightly.
Balth, Mal, Lyssa, and Grenth are facerolls compared to this. You never wipe on them as 2 of them never seem to actually attack you and the other 2 do barely any damage to you that it does not matter.
Make Dwayna easier and buff the other priests to a respectable level. This keeps the challenge to the path while removing the impossible factor.
I agree with OP.
Do not get me wrong, Alpha is a cool boss and all, its just that having to fight him no matter which path with 2 of his 3 attacks switched around depending on the path you take only says one thing: Lazy game design.
Why not make a different boss depending on the path? Alpha, Beta, Charlie, Omega, Gamma. Not even hard to come up with a name. Again, smells like Ant took the lazy way out.
The other dungeons are not that bad if you give them a try! Most people have played long enough to be able to tell from your rants that you were doing CoF or AC. Because while warriors do a lot of damage, the mechanics of other dungeons will typically make people think twice before facerolling through it with 100-blades.
.
Arah p4 says hi
The only thing overtuned with this boss is the speed of her petrify application move, almost undodgeable. Devs are improving sparks behavior this patch so it should solve most issues with them changing aggro. You don’t need 5 zerkers to do it.
The problem with the boss isn’t spark aggro. If you understand how they aggro and attack then they are a non-issue. The problem is that others do not understand how it works.
For almost every boss in this game, the average player does not have to go learn every single mechanic of that boss (i.e. telegraphed moves, how to dodge attacks, position factors, when to range, when to melee, when to aggro, when not to aggro etc. etc.). And no I never said you have to have 5 zerker warriors to do this. I did it with a necro and an engi in my group. But having everyone max DPS makes it a hell of lot easier.
First off, Im just going to state for the record that I am not an elitist nor do I have that mentality. I believe that any group should be able to complete any content no matter what the composition is or the type of build people run. I am strongly opposed to people/game doing “gear checks” on others for any reason.
So I wanted to do Path 4 of Arah and after doing the other paths, I learned most of Arah. (Heck, I even tried path 2 solo, got up to Lupi and died on him for 3 hrs nonstop).
Attempt #1: So I got together with a PuG (2 ranger, 1mesmer, 2warrior; I am a warrior). We get through pretty decently with some hiccups here and there but for the most part pretty good. We got to Dwyana and after about 2hrs we got through it. However, we got to the last part and it bugged.
Attempt #2: Second PuG I join the group at Dwyana (3 warriors, 1 Guardian, 1 mesmer). Everyone in this group was in Tank builds so naturally they are going to have a problem. We are stuck after about two hours of us trying. Now, 1 person in this group really really sucks at the boss. He didn’t follow orders, and he appeared clueless half the time. FInally, he gave up and he leaves. We replace him with a Necro and do Dwyana in 1 go (5min). (Best Necro I have ever seen, btw). I warn everyone about the bug and how to avoid it, yet unfortunately for me I lag out for 30min and they finish without me.
Attempt #3: By this point I am tired of this mess. I join a group and ask if everyone knows the path and if everyone is specced DPS (2 warrior, 1 Engi, 1 Ele, 1 Ranger). They all say yes and we go off. We get to Dwayna and then we are stuck. After 2hr we find that our other warrior is not specced DPS but is specced tank. We ask him to switch to DPS but he doesnt want too so he leaves. We pick up a Guardian who is specced DPS. After another 2hr of attempts, we are on the edge of giving up. Now this is where the sour part of the story comes in. The Ranger in the group wasnt pulling her weight. She was specced DPS but insisted on doing the tears. Unfortunately she was bad at it, and people would spend 10-20sec frozen at times, she would also stand there and not attack the boss between petrifies. She also used melee and would end up getting downed when she was supposed to stay in the back and throw tears at people. It pains me to say this, but we kicked her out. I really did not want to do it, but I could not see any other choice besides giving up completely. We tried everything, every strat posted and still no good. We replaced her with a warrior (2 warrior, 1 ele, 1 engi, 1 guardian) and we did the boss in 10min. This time I do not lag out and we didnt get the bug and I finish the path.
I guess the moral of the story is that the boss is way too overtuned. Most of the people who do this path just do not have the precision to complete the boss. It takes a level of awareness the average person does not have. It also is a glorified DPS check where only certain builds or class combinations can win. It seriously needs to be made so that regen on Dwayna is halved or even more. Sparks should not aggro on pets as well.
I guess Im just happy to be done with it, but at the same time feel really bad for kicking someone to do it. Im sure Im not the first to kick people out at this part for having the wrong build or the equipment (people with tank armor cannot/should not just go spend 15g on zerkers set to complete 1 boss). Some people are also naturally “bad” at playing the game. While I do not mind playing with these people, the game should not force me to think differently about doing so, and unfortunately it made do something I never wanted to do.
Remember what Valve said, players are good at identifying problems, but NOT good at providing solutions.
That statement is so general that it could be applied to any problem that ever existed to the point were it becomes meaningless.
Wow that is totally useless. Why on earth would anyone buy regular armor with dungeon tokens? No wonder every single armor has been previewing as a cabalist set.
Regardless… anet… and I am now addressing you directly… Your dungeon traders are VERY misleading. I expect a refund of either my tokens and stone, or fix my armor’s appearance.
I don’t think this is too much to ask. I checked TA’s armor’s appearance over and over and I decided that your vendors must have been glitching, but apparently this was just poor planing and oversight.
Normally I’m not one to insist on a refund for something of this nature, but I feel quite cheated by your misleading labeling. I frequently spend money on gems for frivolous items, but depending on how this is addressed I may or may not reconsider that spending.
I buy regular armor with dungeon tokens….
Wanna know why? Cause I just salvage them for ectos. Didn’t think of that now did ya?
So kiting the Shatter = profit?
What a garbage joke. 0/10
All world bosses can be zerged. No need for a guide.

Lol cute pictures guys.
Here is a very happy picture of me an my boyfriend
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t that an NPC?
Think the best we can hope for is the OP gets banned for reporting falsely.
I have done Fractals at least 60+ times (mostly with pickups) and roughly 90% of the time everything goes pretty good.
That 10% of the time usually occurs from people with inflated egos think they know everything about FotM and take it upon themselves to be the undeclared group leader. Generally, those people turn out to be utter garbage and usually the group ends up disbanding cause that person proceeds to blame the other members and pisses people off. People naturally cannot stand the putrid stench of trash (I know I can’t) so they leave ( I don’t blame them).
As for the TC, maybe instead of the “I heplz de nub guyz” mentality, you just worry about yourself and keep quiet. Observe and listen, and leave others to do whatever. Being outspoken is generally seen as annoying. If you really do have a noob in your group (by FotM level 4, everyone should have done most of the fractals by then), just let them learn quickly for themselves or let them have a high repair bill at the end. Caps lock does not help your image either.
Most of the time what happens is that some clueless player drags the priest over to Jonez and an icicle proceeds to drop on his head which can kill him (sometimes instantly).
I do not think the shades debuff effects NPCs, so I do not think its that.
when we arrive there, it was all crickets
I know what you mean. Earlier this week I was at Malchor’s and a group of about 10 of us were trying the Lyssa event. It’s pretty much impossible to keep up with the spawns of multiple veterans much less try to attack the high priestess before the shields go back up and you need to reclaim one of the side nodes with such a small group of players. Clearly the temple events were designed with a larger group in mind, however I’d like to see the dynamic event scaling work even for these types of events so that a smaller group could have a tough challenge but with coordination and skill could still see victory.
All temples can be done with 10 people. One of them is even soloable. If you could not do it with 10 people, then either the people with you were not fully geared or they had no idea what was going on and were uncoordinated.
Why are you worrying about this?
Any new recipe they add that people can use to make a profit will just led to a permanent ban of those people. So you do not want to be the first on to do it.
So do not worry.
Gold Sellers DO play a role in the market of Legendary weapons, because they do not make the legendaries themselves. The way they get the legendaries is by buying the legendaries from the TP that were made by legitimate players.
How do I know this?
Simple:
Gift of Mastery:
1x Gift of Exploration
Gold Sellers generally do not play the game themselves. They use bots. The amount of time to program a bot to 100% map complete would be tedious and not worth the time as opposed to just having that bot farm for gold.
One time I got stuck in a wall in Unidentified Fractal during the Old Tom fight. Super annoying, since my whole group had to wipe for me to get out.
The second time I got stuck was in a door during a personal story instance. Luckily that time I had just started, so not a lot was lost.
Now I never played GW1 GvG, but what people are making it sound like is sPvP.
5v5 or 8v8 teams that fight against each other. Sounds like GW2 already has this. So what are people complaining about? Sure, in sPvP you dont get your gear stats or whatever, but gear is supposed to be about cosmetics not about who has better gear.
What I would like to see is something in between sPvP and WvW that could be called Guild versus guild. Two guilds compete against each other in maybe 20v20 or so instance. The map could use WvW aspects but on a much smaller scale (maybe like 1-2 tower per team with a few supply camps here and there). Matches could run for 30min-1hr. Too me, thats what a GvG sounds like.
@blueshield
Its not what i’m unable to grasp. Its that you cant accept that you aren’t entitled to selfishly dictate people to doing what you want. Your idea is bad and a waste of time better spent fixing real issues of the game. If you disagree feel free to report me and start a thread about how you cant mute people on the forums.
Selfishly dictate? Everyone is selfish and every action ever performed in the history of human kind has selfish aspects to it. What is your point?
Spamming the bells to simply annoy and harass other players breaks the Rules of Conduct.
“While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players.”
But there is no such thing “account-bound on use”, it’s like design a new system again just to put account-bound on use in a few items. If you are expecting this, wait maybe 2/3 years..
The system is already in the game.
Look at the Permanent Bank Access/Access Express/Lion Merchant/Stylish Contracts.
Once theses are used, you cannot resell them and they bound to your account.
“Once equipped, the item becomes soulbound, although Dev Lindsey has hinted that they may be changed to account bound in the future.” Source: Legendary Weapon
I don’t think in the future legendary weapons will be account bound. Right now legendary weapons are soulbound on use, so players can sell them on Trading Post. If they make them account bound, you will not be able to buy/sell them on TP again.
I believe what the OP meant was “Account Bound on Use.” This means that once equipped on one of your characters, all of your characters can use that said item, but you can no longer sell/trade that item.
I would support something like this.
I would consider filling out a support ticket and see what support can do for you. Admins on this forum may tell you the same thing, so try that if you do not get a response in this thread.
When you use the report feature, the red text that you are describing appears for all report instances. Obviously, a chat log with backup applies more to other reportable offenses such as “scamming” or “verbal abuse.” Since bots do not reply to players most of the time, the red text most likely does not apply to this kind of report.
If you find that a player is indeed a bot and you report for botting, I would not worry about your account being banned. You are helping the game out and Anet would never punish anyone for that.
However, that being said, I would make 100% sure the person you are reporting is indeed a bot and there is no room for doubt.
I was also banned 3 times in the past two weeks for botting, and the only difference in my playstyle was because I found a good farming spot within Orr and spent hours farming there. Whether I was banned because of this, I do not know, but I am very reluctant to go back to the location.
Oh, I believe they didn’t think that somebody was going to use it that way, but what is the difference is the result.
As Illconceived Was Na said the one key gives you access to something that will not change the game for others. Those boosters are more or less useless (IMHO). The contents of the boxes will not make you rich. So I guess it will never be considered to be an exploit.
I keep those boxes in my inverntory and I use almost all boosters upon receiving them. I even sold a bunch of that boxes before.
So what happens if you did this before Halloween, saved your keys, and then proceed to use the keys to get the rare skins?
Since most of the skins where going for 1g-60g during the event, the potential to make a decent profit from doing this could have occurred. If someone got a ton of keys this way, the chances of them obtaining skins would have been very high, and thus generating a large profit could have been obtained.
The message is this: while there is not anything good in the box right now (besides the contracts, which may/may not be worth the runs idk), this does not mean something good later on can be released. If someone hoards keys this way, they would have good chance of making tons of money if something desirable was released.
The Anet’s line between works as intended and exploit can change in a heartbeat.

130109-000300 – Has been resolved and no further action is need (hopefully forever).
Hello all.
Today this issue was solved by Supervisor for the NCsoft Account Administration Department and as you can see I am unbanned (hopefully for good this time).
I never did find out exactly the main reason behind my banning (even after asking) and frankly at this point, I believe it is too much of a hassle to do so. All I want to do now is just play the game that I love so much and hope this issue is behind me.
As the issue discussed in this thread has been solved (hopefully for good), the moderators of this forum may decide on whether this thread should remain opened or closed.
Thank you.
The only that I do not understand what would happen if they raised the level cap is traits.
If they raised the cap to 90, then technically we would get 10 more trait points to place. This would mean people could obtain more skills making the game more generic and more builds a “jack of all trades.” I do not think I would like that very much. It may also effect PvP and unbalance it even further since classes have access to even more skills.
As the level cap extends even further past 90, then even more traits can be filled until you basically do not even have to pick or choose anymore.
Unless they do not let you obtain trait points after 80 which would be weird and slightly dumb…
A friend of mine was banned for sending his girlfriend 39g. A shame really, cause if he is not unbanned, half of his guild is likely to quit and move on to a different game.
You are way too late. The time for buying/selling has passed a few days ago.
And then I stumbled upon it, the biggest scam thread ever created in on these forums.
And with that statement, I ruined any chance of you making a legitimate trade on the forums.
Ran TA twice today again and that is probably the last time I do that (this being my 10th run with no cores). I got nothing besides one yellow. Not a single core or lodestone. 3 hours wasted. The only person to get onyx in my group got 2 cores, but he already had twilight (go figure).
So no more Twlight Arbor for me.
@niwaar I think they stealth nerfed Fractal droprates or something. When the dungeon first came out I was get cores/lodestones like no tomorrow. Yet recently, I have yet to see 1 core/lodestone. It is very discouraging.
I hate to whine or complain about something, but to me it feels like something needs to be a changed.
I do not even know where to begin farming for Onyx Lodestones. I tried farming Earth Elementals in EB, but after an hour I gave up. I ran TA like 6 times, but I got nothing to show for it so I gave up on that as well.
You can get cores and lodestones in Fractals (which is why they took a significant drop back when FotM was released), but ever since then they have been on the rise again.
It just frustrating to watch these things climb ridiculously high and not being able to keep up, and its even more annoying that some legendaries do not even need lodestones.
They need to change the drop rate or at the very least make something else in order to obtain them. i.e. You are guaranteed a core/lodestone at the end of a dungeon.
Any video that does not have all three paths shown should be dislike on youtube immediately.
First off, it is not hard to find a group. With a group, it should only take about 20min (even with low levels/garbage gear).
Second off, the dungeon is soloable which only takes 40min. I did it by myself and the tar part was the only difficult thing to do.
Stop complaining.
End of topic.
This is not griefing.
Drop the present, and then go into invis to live. How is that griefing when you are playing to win?
I really never want to skip him either. He is super easy if you know how to dodge.
The other bad thing about skipping him is that he provides a really good waypoint in the dungeon and if your already in a bad pug, your just going to waste more time running from the super far waypoint.
People just do not get it though.
As of now, a lot of areas within the game are basically empty with players adventuring within these zones being few and far between. Events are left uncompleted for days at a time and group events can never be done because groups just do not exist.
My suggestion is this:
Every 1-2hrs a zone is randomly selected. This zone becomes “chosen” (or think of some other name if that doesn’t sound good). All events in this zone give extra gold + karma for completion of events. After the time period is over, a new random zone is “chosen.”
Some other possible additions:
1)Have a NPC in all the major cities (excluding LA) reveal to player what zone is “chosen”
2)Reduce waypoint costs in the “chosen” zone
3)All Orr zones cannot be chosen.
Having this feature will encourage players to travel the world and do things they would otherwise feel is a waste of time. This will keep players entertained as they are always doing different events/content every few hours. Content will be done and it can be exciting to travel with a ton of people across the map just playing the game.
Please consider it.
Last night, I was suppressed after looking for a group for FotM, and then decided to just go to bed. I came on 8 hours later and found that I was still suppressed……………………..
SERIOUSLY?
