I personally prefer OH Dagger. The fire field does infinitely more damage and the bigger size is easier for teammates to blast in. That and throwing in Fire Grab when stacking might on foes, RTL for skipping and Updraft for on demand swiftness is something I would have a lot of trouble parting with. Oh and that glorious Cleansing Wave to get rid of 2 hours worth of poison in TA You could stack the same amount of Might but you’d have to stop for Earthquake, took me forever to stop interrupting that slow kitten attack <_<
eles are fine for speed runs, but it is difficult to set path records with them since the full party has to stand still for 5 seconds to stack Might, and the more encounters per dungeon the more it slows you down.
They can stack 9 party might without even standing still for a second.
Edit: Even 12, but thats a bit harder to pull off.
It’s a lot easier with swiftness and provided you’re actually standing on solid ground and Dragon Tooth doesn’t just disappear into the floor somewhere. At least that’s my wild stab in the dark at what you meant cause that chain takes about a second to do :/
300ms US with my aussie interwebz. I have to cheese melee lupi in phase 1 by moving/pushing into him until he stops, then I know he’d either spew locust or kick. Still learning how to double dodge out/in on phase 2 when he aoes,
Most of my deaths come from clicking attunes since I can’t reach f3-f4 so don’t Obby Flesh/Magnetic Wave/Swirling Winds in time.
I probably should learn solo lupi on warrior first since they can take 2-3 kicks/aoes/life drain ticks instead of getting 1 shot on ele by anything lupi does.
Isn’t it just the best? I can just avoid kicks if I dodge the second he twitches his leg, but I’ll see the tell too late if I spin him around too much, godd/amn locusts. Though I can’t dodge that Rapid Fire attack for kitten, always roll out of that one with half my health gone. Do yourself a favour and get an MMO mouse, I have no idea how Ele’s can sift through skills and attunements whilst moving without one….

Z3rkur gear is more successful when the whole team is wearing it. You’ve got PVT gear in which you try to out-endure your opponent, then Zirkor in which it’s kill before you’re killed. So a majority of players able to out-endure a boss’ attacks teamed up with poor Basurkor whose quickly running out of dodges does make Bagsirkor look worse, despite the fact that he probably did double the damage contribution of the PVT carebears before going down.
Prime example of this is the Slave Driver in CoF1. 5 Burgzirghuirz will melt him before anyone downs, start adding in PVT players and people start downing.
Haha it’s not exploiting! I’m taking advantage of the fact that Dredge have little arms, so standing where my weapons can still hit him is just a super l33t tactic.
I remember being able to range AFK the Destroyer as well, I think that got pseudo nerfed though and he sometimes goes invuln, like when trying to bug Howling King on the stairs…. Those were the days… I don’t miss Pugging at all.
Well no, definitely not, that would be way too extreme.
A few things you would have to do however:
-kill any foe that has aggroed you
-complete all events

“exploit” away with your fiery greatsword, sure you’ll get some QQ from Define (really don’t get why they’re so mad) but ANet have done jack all to fix it, so I wouldn’t even count it as an exploit.

I’ve got nothing on the gems in here, but I did CoE with a Hammer Stance Warrior. The only reason I think it was stance is because there were no banners, no signets, no shouts, so I suppose I’m just giving him the benefit of the doubt by assuming he wasn’t just neglecting his 7-9….

If you are really, really are having trouble, you can try this.
Roll or find an ele friend. Only run p3. On the spider part, use FGS dash into the wall (don’t target) and bring it down in seconds. Use icebow on all the mounds (have one other person use the bow, trade off casting 4). Stack on the pillar for final boss, and dps. You can carry even the worst pugs this way. You’ll get more tokens if you can get p1 done, but this way is a near guarantee.
I hate that pillar stack with a passion. He’s not the one stacked in the corner, you are, so you can’t even Fiery Rush him. That and as a Berserker Ele I go down if I get hit twice in succession, which isn’t hard because we’re dealing lousy PuG damage and I’m bound to botch/run out of dodges. At least have the person who has NPC’s up his as/s go get aggro so the boss immediately switches to them and you can range him down to half health before being cornered and having to dodge every single auto attack. Doing him legit is x10 easier IMO.
I won’t even try to understand that. All I get is that the kickers are behaving like annoying lizard things that put out all sorts of CC and evade attacks all day long.

I wonder if keeping Bjarl perma knockdowned with Spiky Fruit is considered an exploit. I mean you are cleverly taking advantage of a foe with no Defiance, but it’s just… A whole lot of gray area. To be honest I wish inventory summons like the Fire Elemental Powder and Ogre Whistle weren’t considered legit, because c’mon who actually uses those in everyday runs….

That said I probably would have quit playing a while ago if I hadn’t found the sense of community in LoD. I mean TS went down for a few hours one day and I simply couldn’t keep myself entertained enough with just the game.

Atse the only reason you would’ve been asked for gold is if you joined one of our selling LFG’s and sat in the instance, something that I still don’t understand as to how it happens so often despite the LFG saying that we’re selling slots.

Yeah I was in the same spot a couple months ago, I was at breaking point with pugs and was honestly considering quitting the game. So I applied to LoD and yeah, best in game decision I’ve ever made. Not just the high quality of runs (mostly xD) but the community that comes with it, like I’ve run around in circles in LA for an hour without even realising because I’m just talking kitten all over TS xD

Nah Teh is the kind of guy who clears all the trash, so thinks 4 hour Arah runs are the norm and everyone else uses exploits (may or may not actually be true.)
You’d be surprised how horribly a full team of Zerkers can go at the smallest mistakes. A bad pull, bad RNG, lag spike and you could very well cause your team to wipe. That’s why it’s so dangerous to add PuGs to speed clear groups, because they can single handedly bring the whole group down.
But as I said before I approve of the current set up, if you can’t dodge, can’t block, then you’re not going to last very long in Zerker gear, so the players who can do it should be able to reap the benefits, E.g melting bosses in seconds.
I’m really overstating how hard it is to go Zerk, but then I go PuG some dungeons and see just how many people could never ever do it :P

But I know Dungeon Master holds no weight once I discovered people buying Arah slots just to get it. Also if you primarily play dungeons you’ll have a fairly low AP, so when people try to show off their high numbers it proves they can do mind numbing Living Story and Jumping Puzzles :|

But seriously the only bosses that have too much health are the ones in Honour of the Sponge. Most of the rest can be DPS’d into oblivion before they can even get off their damaging attacks, so “faster” bosses isn’t what I had in mind xD

Add to that the lags, the framerate drops, the inane amount of graphical effects etc and you can see how there is just no way in hell that I would ever find zerg content enjoyable.

Also it’s pretty funny when you can see your own damage against Champions, really makes you wonder what the 30+ people with you are doing :|
I tried a bit of Meta event farming the other day, it was a good opportunity to catch up with some old players, browse the TP and Gem Store. After about an hour or so I had run out of things to do and gave up after getting like, 200 Dragonite Ore… I have a feeling that’s not going to be enough xD
Never actually noticed it had those extra effects rofl. Deffo needs to be fixed haha. A possible solution would be to make unshakeable only apply to big attacks. Give the boss an auto attack which is effected by all those things with no reduction. So we have to mitigate auto attacks and dodge/block big attacks. Either way defiant definately needs to be reworked or scrapped altogether.
You pretty much can’t blind Leurent but you can blind all the adds that come with him which makes him infinitely less of a threat on his own. Just pray that you’ve melted him before you’re outta Aegis xD

Remove all gear stats except Berserker from PvE and that would clear up any confusion people seem to have with this game. Support comes from weapon choice, utilities and traits, the gear you’re wearing is irrelevant. Whilst I understand where TheGuy is coming from and how this shouldn’t be the case, but gear variation is ultimately different levels of ‘training wheels’ until you’re experienced enough to go full zerk, and to be honest I quite like this system. I mean have you seen a <500 AP player actually pull off full Berserker well? And by ‘well’ I mean not camping at ranged/CoF1.
ArenaNet cater to the casuals, and the casuals like zerg content because you can get carried.
Same could be said for dungeons, though to a lesser extent. TBH I’d love to see some duo or even trio specific content.

Acutally as elems we can use our class mechanics while depsing: we can attunement swap while wielding the hammer, and it is as exiting as using engi’s mechanics.
That being said I believe hammer builds are only good for mindless speedruns, and the real deal is with a Fresh Air build in challenging content. Content in which actually sharing the hammer rather than using it selfishly is more beneficial to the group. However in that challenging type of content our damage is assuredly low. Therefore my belief is that the hammer builds should actually be nerfed, so that Fresh Air builds can call for buffs.

Well I don’t mean to sound arrogant but you would still have to be “carried” (no connotation) to deal your damage: if you do the might stacking rotation between each use of the hammer than you are locked out of water for 13s (13 / 30 * 0.2 = 9% less damage), so it would be better to always remain in water and have the group provide the fire fields.
But you could argue that the loss in damage is insignificant compared to the value of the might and fury stacking that the rotation provides.
Anyway I need to hide in my cave for a while now and reflect on my future.
I can’t speak for other Ele’s using similar builds, but I never switch out of water mid combat for that exact reason, getting locked out of +20% damage. So I really depend on the Guardian dropping a fire field so I can get off multiple Thunderclaps + Arcane Blast to maintain Fury and Might for longer encounters.
Also I don’t see how any ‘DPS’ build could stay true without Conjurer, the amount of LH down time would be far too much of a DPS loss IMO. Though seeing the crazy maths you guys are putting into this I’m clearly out of my league here :|
Ok I see. I don’t add connotations, I am always a happy positive lad and I rejoice at the beauty of the world around me. So yes, I thought we were talking about a 30/20/x/20/x kind of build, which would make sense for speedrunning. Getting 25 in air with a build like 25/25/x/x/x only stacks vulnerability to 3.2 at best, so I figured people went for persisting flames instead with fire field provided by the group so that you don’t even have to swap out of water (swapping out is a big dps loss).
Perma fury for the group > 3 vulnerability, imho
30/25/x/x/x
10 seconds of Fury with each blast finisher. So Dragon Tooth→Pheonix→Arcane Blast
→Earthquake if stacking might before an encounter/one LH blast if stacking might on the mobs theoretically gives 40 seconds of Fury at the start of combat (not to mention 12 stacks of might right off the bat), whether it actually gives you 40s or caps/bugs I’m not sure. If for whatever reason combat goes longer than that/said bugs or caps kick in then the Guardian has already taken over with a fire field to maintain might, thus replenishing Fury at the same time.
If stacking Ele’s I’d rather only one using this build because you sacrifice some valuable damage modifiers to get Persisting Flames and Weak Spot, but that Fury and Vuln (cough Fiery Greatsword cough) is glorious
