You fight the incredibly hard hitting mobs with crazy high health that give you perma fear and knockdown in a field of constantly respawning Volatile Blossoms? Was it worth the globs of globby goo?
Perhaps I’m still fairly new to Lupi but it feels like there’s that element of RNG to Phase 2 AoE’s. For instance one evade chain (Withdrawal, evade, teleport back in) will work 99% of the time but on occasion I’ll get hit with one tick (and get instagibbed) either between evades or after porting back in, despite doing it the exact same way each time :/
We run Arah p1-4 most days (though I’m beginning to lose hope on getting Bloodstone Fragment.) I think today it took something like 1.5-2 hours all up? Granted they’re pretty kitten casual as far as runs go cough cough three manning the bosses because two people want to level their alts, people going AFK, potty breaks, etc etc.
I think ranger gives a lot of solo options if set up properly. I usually use bears for their toughness, and I generally can walk into a situation without worrying about the number of mobs. I do need to move quite a bit to stay alive and thin the numbers, but it still takes less than 1-2 minutes to clear 6 or 7 mobs even if there is a veteran (killing the adds first of course). The other advantage is not having to stress about adds. Plus I have solo’d several champions as a ranger, since my pets are so tough, just takes a bit longer than I have have patience for sometimes Champion rewards should scale if you solo it, yes this is primarily a group game, but I don’t always have time to play when my friends do.
Regardless, the key advantage to a ranger is to be a heartless b**ch and leave your pet to take the heat and aggro the mobs while you save your own kitten and run like hell. Also helps when you have a tough fight to snag a skill point or similar for map completion. Saved me from a few champion encounters where I realized there was no chance with the setup I had at the moment and, in each case, my pet died for me to live on R.I.P Fido!!!

Pugging fractals on a Warrior isn’t nearly as fun as it sounds. To get through any +20? Fractal in any sort of orderly manner you need someone with a brain controlling the projectile reflection/absorption, I really wish I’d levelled a Guardian or Mesmer in Fractals. Because when you’re standing on a tiny platform whilst getting whaled on by half a dozen flying Archers, there’s only one thing stopping you from dying and it certainly isn’t any sort of combination of Endure Pain/Shield Block/Balanced Stance/Dolyak Signet. It’s praying that the dipstick two platforms back staff auto attacking will come up and drop a Wall of Reflection/Shield of the Avenger/or even some godkitten Aegis. Don’t get me wrong, Warrior certainly has it’s place if you have a decent Guardian, but fractals without some sort of projectile defence is kitten near suicide and why I will never PuG fractals again unless I happen to level up my Guardian.

My client crashed halfway through the patch, and then proceeded to crash halfway through its repair process of the crash. It has now crashed so many times that my entire computer crashes everytime I open Guild Wars. I now have to reinstall the whole kitten thing, and for what?…

I don’t have an 80 Mesmer yet but from what I’ve seen with other players is trash skipping being an absolute nightmare, especially dealing with back aggro from more mobile classes (e.g everything but Mesmer.)
If I had to PuG Arah I would simply have to go Thief to trivialise trash skips, granted I take a Thief on casual p1 and p3 guild runs anyway. I would also leg it from Lupi’s Phase 2 AoE’s unless the Mesmer proved to be exceptional thus far.
But really, at least once a week there’s a “oh my god this happened in an Arah PuG” thread so I doubt I’ll ever man up enough to risk it.

I gave up on Inscriptions as a reliable source of income after salvaging 12 (Soldier’s) exotics in a row without a singular inscription or glob of dark matter, think I got like, 3 ectos though….
A useless level 35 Rare if you got it from AC, as opposed to a lvl 80 (75+?) one from Meta Events.
Though those events are hardly chained up well without a lot of luck and guesting all over the place, whereas dungeons are always there for you

Wow look at you baddy Berserker’s blaming your bad gear on “bugs”. If you had more defensive gear like Sentinel’s you wouldn’t be so reliant on dodging, you would have less downs and a faster run….
Swapping toons is a needless pain in the kitten and in AC at least, the ele simply by virtue of having conjure weapons makes runs smoother.

The experience is awarded after the cutscene, so if the leader of the dungeon doesn’t skip it, the other 4 members can swap after the fight is over.

AC has to be the easiest dungeon for swapping toons (at least p1 & p3). There’s a WP right before the run, and all you have left is the boss. Just notify your group before the run, asking if it’s okay that you swap before boss.
If you have a friend in the party you can get them to hold the cutscene right after the boss dies and the daily chest appears (don’t need to accept it yet.) Swap character and you’ll be in before the cutscene ends, levelling your toon without leeching your team at the final boss
Wouldn’t try it on path 2, that cutscene is crazy short.
What’s wrong with being friendly? People goof all the time, lag spikes, IRL distractions, doesn’t mean you can bring down your almighty hammer of judgement and deem them not worthy as they die at your feet. If it doesn’t put you in any extreme risk (e.g rezzing someone right after a swipe) then why not? Granted this is very hypocritical of me because I let pugs die all the time, though only if their presence is detrimental to the success of the run… So most of the time…
Genuine question, how does Greatsword damage fair against Shortbow? Cause I mean… Dat Shortbow shoots pretty quick, and that Greatsword is pretty awful…
The player base seemed much nicer when I first started playing, I was trained by pugs for most dungeons before joining a guild. Now? I don’t actually know how people do it…
Because all dungeons involve more running than fighting. E.g taking a Mesmer gets you a kitten fast Lupi kill, but overall having one slows down the run by being a slow piece of kitten.
To answer the Thief question from the start I do believe it is CnD + Backstab (gotta love it when CnD hits harder than a face stab when you can’t get behind the target) until 50% health at which point Heartseeker damage catches up and goes through the same amount of initiative, so you’d just double Heartseeker instead of CnD whilst maintaining +6 initiative IIRC. And the glorious Assassin’s Signet + Haste + Heartseeker spam never gets old
I have never pugged Arah in my life, you guys have made me too scared to try. I don’t know maybe it’s because I’m still fairly new to it, but it seems like one of those dungeons where getting braindead pugs like I do I almost everytime I pug other dungeons would make it infinitely worse than just missing those few extra players. Like skipping mobs “oh look atse died again, should we run with him one more time?” Or Tar “No atse you have to stand on the geyser on the geyser! What do you expect the bearbow to do it?” Or Lupi “If this sonnovabish goes invuln on me one more kittening time ATSE STOP RANGING”

Well the theoretical difference in kill time with a team of Slayer/Night vs Force/Night over a 30 second fight would be 1.5 seconds. Probably doesn’t work quite like that but you get my point
I take Force and Night, then Force and Undead for Arah only, the other daytime dungeons are meh and I rarely do them.
I mean for a record run sure, but Jesus, do I look like I’m made of gold/dungeon tokens?… Well yes… I am actually, but I’m lazy, hell I’m flat out managing my stacking weapons. And to do that for all my alts? That’s literally one million tokens from CoF/CoE/Arah.
Not being clad in Berserker gear = immediate baddie (or just new?) It shows limited understanding of all dungeon mechanics and that of their own class to wear anything else.
There are bad players in Zerker gear but that first generalisation pretty much trimmed 99% of the fat.
I honestly don’t use Churning Earth that much, but if it hits harder than a LH auto attack chain (roughly how long the cast time is?) I’ll admit defeat
I recommended his build because it’s so PuG friendly, you can pull your own weight with all the added utility. I run pure LH S/D but only because I run in a group where all the utility I need is provided. Have you tried Pugging with a LH build? I can tell you right now it doesn’t end well.
To extend on what Durend said, with a LH build it’s better to go Fire Grab then change to water before it connects for the the +20% damage with Piercing Shards. It’s not worth using Earthquake because you can fit in two Thunderclaps without it, whilst only one with it, so you’ve got the same amount of blast finishers going off but more damage dealt using the LH. This of course with 30 in Fire for Persisting Flames. Oh and Arcane Wave is a worthwhile utility to add to this might stacking chain (use when in Water attunement for max deeps.) This is assuming Piercing Shards works as it should which I can proudly say I have not tested.
However! If you’re pre stacking might, so there’s no target to hit with Thunderclap/s, then Earthquake is definitely worth using and maybe even Churning Earth also (I’ve noticed the “Area Might” pops up at the start of the cast, need to check when I’m alone to see if that’s actually case.)
AC is probably ghost slaying but I think I read a wethospu post saying that the gravelings aren’t affected by ghost slaying. anyway ghost slaying is prohibitively expensive so skale venom is probably better
dragon’s breath buns are pretty cool too, I stocked up on a bunch of those using the zhaitaffy that I have leftover.
Meh Alpha dies so fast I don’t really see the point, budget cuts are coming Guan you gotta cut back!
I thought Gravelings were affected because you wouldn’t get your Daily Variety in AC as they both counted as “ghosts” :/ not that I would spend that much on a ghost slaying potion anyway.
Oh and Blackberry Pie is cheaper but isn’t is something like steal health on crit chance 40% vs 66% on DCR?
^ Sorry but burrows is an AFK fest. One ice bow takes out a burrow in seconds without any might. We get so bored during it we try to get those bugged hatchling pets that follow you around without attacking…
My Warrior hits over 300k with Hundred Blades, the damage is backloaded each hit does does more and more damage as it goes on, Guardian doesn’t even have Hundred Blades how is this even an argument.
I definitely don’t have 6 stacks of Candied Dragon Roll in my bank and a stack on each character…. It’s pretty much the best price to reward ratio I can find and would only change to the super expensive stuff for a record, which I don’t do anyway xD
Also slayer potions are an absolute must, I buy the Powerful versions and use the weaker tier ones if I find them.
But in like… Crucible of Eternity you’ve got something like 3 types of enemies, so I don’t really see the point in a slayer potion. And I’m not too sure about AC, don’t you need a Ghost Slaying Potion? I don’t even know.
No 1 shot mechanics in CoE? I sincerely doubt a bunker build could tank Alpha’s AoEs. And Suddenflame’s build being better than Berserker? Sure, go solo Lupi and beat the current record time. Why am I even trying to make sense of this dribble, I see why Cookie bailed.
If you’re team is squishy then that ideally means berserker gear (or naked?)
Have an Ele drop Fiery Greatsword and do the old “untargeted Fiery Rush into the wall making sure you’ve got auto target turned off in options” and bam, no more DPS issues.
Champion rewards should scale if you solo it, yes this is primarily a group game, but I don’t always have time to play when my friends do.
