To be fair, every class (not so much Mesmer) can deal heavy damage. What makes a class valuable is what else it can bring.
Though I’m no Engineer expert, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot it can do that an Ele can’t do better.
Ele stacks Vuln/might/blinds whilst maintaining the highest damage in the party (those hammer swings bring shame to anything my axe hits could do, even with the speed difference.)
I’d take an extra Ele over an extra Warrior any day of the week, but an Engi over either? I’m not so sure….
I mean even an extra Warrior can bring constant Vigor and Swiftness, share the banner load and generally be easy to play thanks to high health and now what feels like OP self healing. What can an Engi bring that an Ele and Warrior can’t?

I stopped taking you seriously at “cof p1”. In fact I’m almost certain I’m feeding a troll right now, but what the hell, I’m bored.

You are everything this update was meant to destroy, that is, mindlessly farming the same path over and over. Also you’re having trouble finding people because they’re out doing other dungeons, learning to avoid that cesspool of hamfisted Neanderthals.

And you do know that you don’t have to be on the same server to run dungeons right?
I’ll assume “your timeframe” is mid-late afternoon and perhaps a bit into the night? As is mine, no trouble finding groups because I don’t just do CoF1.
I’m in LoD, based on a different server to myself (which they love reminding me) and there’s almost always enough Oceanics online to group with, and a surprising amount of Americans who must be up at insane hours on their end.

There are plenty of guilds with people out there to group with, but sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming that you’re all alone, doesn’t really help you find them. But to be honest if all you can offer a guild is your ability to run CoF1 and only CoF1 to acquire all of your berserker gear for all of your alts, then I wouldn’t blame them for ‘trimming the fat’ so to speak.

Also, CoF gear is ugly and whenever I see someone clad in the stuff I assume they’re going to be a bad player, it’s an unfair stereotype but its true and I know I’m not the only one who does it. And really, if you love CoF gear so much they have two other paths that can triple the amount of daily tokens you can get from it.

Wow. You don’t need an ‘NZ based guild’. You’re part of the Oceanics, which encompasses countries including China, merely a few hours apart.

You make it sound like you can only play with other Kiwi’s….

All I can suggest is try to find a group/guild that are active the same time you are. As an Oceanic player if I have work during the day then all the Americans have long since done their daily runs, but thankfully there are a handful of Oceanics I can group with who all have the same problem.
To be honest I do like the change, dungeon diversity should always be encouraged. As well as removing the ‘farming’ feeling that dungeons have when it’s profitable to spam the same path over and over (even on alts.)

I mean just look at that Frostgorge Sound Champion farm, people will spend 8 hours a day watching paint dry if it turns an easy profit….

This is encounter is like… The definition of cheese. Stack reflects and DPS down, the same cheese that’ll get you through kitten near every encounter in the game.

But yeah the magic find damage boost doesn’t apply to this boss because you don’t crit. So no extra DPS depending on how much loot is in your inventory

Also I saw a video of some elitist scumbags doing this naked but they so obviously hacked!1!!1! You can see it when he gets downed, his damaged armour icon pops up therefore wearing armour SEE EVEN THE ‘PROS’ HAVE TO CHEAT FOR THIS BOSS!.

I’d love to see a four Ele team absolute mince up everything a dungeon has by alternating Fiery Greatswords for almost every encounter. Bring a Warrior for Empower Allies and banners, maybe Fear Me for some positioning, though that Ele swing sends em pretty far anyway.
I think everything would die before you noticed the lack of reflect projectiles, and if absolutely necessary I’m sure some offhand focus subbing in could do the trick on those select few encounters. Actually yeah, offhand dagger is mainly for the fire field which you’d have enough of with two other Ele’s (though I forget if any traits benefit OH dagger) but then there’s the issue of dropping the Hammer/FGS to use the focus… I dunno I think I’ll just stop there…

Colesy nooooooo. Never ever bring up Hundred Blades in a DPS conversation, it’s so noobish.

Also I didn’t even notice until today, but I am literally always mashing 1, even on a Warrior. I think I had issues with foes stepping out of auto attack range, or not being able to consistently cleave through mobs if the selected target goes for a wander/my auto target picks the furthest thing away.
It’s really not that bad, I play for a few hours on end and don’t even notice it, but then again, not everyone has Aussie muscles of steel

I was so lucky, posted a “lfg SE p2” – 5 minutes later I had a full party.

Well signet build isn’t that bad anymore, I mean I fill up utility slots with them when we’ve got too many Warriors or an encounter that really isn’t banner friendly.

To be fair, if CoF1 rewarded say, 25 silver, we’d consider the 1g reward a god send. Giving it 1g implies that it’s as difficult as the other dungeons, which is utter lunacy.
As far as the rest go, Anet can very easily make a poll on what the rewards should be, just ignore the “3g for every path” submissions and go with the average.
Bam, dungeon rewards fixed.
I’d go something like,
AC – 1g p1, p3 – 1.5g p2
CM – 1.5g every path (It has been a while, but I pugged this fairly easily and quickly.)
TA – 1g Up, F/F – 1.5g F/U (I can’t even complete this path with a PuG, if they can pull it off they deserve 1.5g)
SE – 1g p1, p3 – 2g p2
HotW – 1.5g p1 – 2g p2, p3
CoF – 25 silver p1 – 1.5g p2 – 2g p3
CoE – 1.5g every path
Arah – can’t say I’ve done Arah, but I think people would agree that 3g reward should be reserved for this. Path 2 is the easy one yeah? 2g for that one? I dunno guys xD

Gold Reward: Full reward on first run, alts give 50% gold reward, repeating any path with a character yields no gold reward.
Return the token reward to its former glory.

Even the devs don’t run the unpopular paths.

Did my usual TA set for the first time in a few months only to find that the Foward/Up boss is now broken!
Instead of being able to use the ultimate ranged tactic you now get swarmed by spiders! You can’t even stand on the roots to get away!
I’m only a casual player and its ridiculous that dungeon paths are being broken so only people who play eight hours a day can do them. Seriously with the nerf to CoF farming how else are players like me meant to keep up with the ‘no-lifers’!?
Anet c’mon! CoF has demonstrated that dungeons are meant to be the easy content in the game, you can’t take away our only source of income and buff the already difficult dungeons!!!1!1!

How the hell does that work? SEp2 takes at least twice as long as its neighbours, I’m not even going to compare the self-explanatory difference between CoFp1 and p3….

Was hoping these less played paths would actually become worth doing, which I suppose it is if you have absolutely nothing else to do that day. But good luck finding a group.

And that kitten token neutering, all I can do is pray that some of the American players haven’t done their set by the time I log on, and that there’s enough Oceanics online….

Whilst I enjoy listening to someone who sounds like he’s high as a kite all the time as much as the next person, I don’t think that qualifies for best in the game.

Lol! This slows everyone else down to my snail-pace of gathering tokens. I usually only have time for a set or two per day, so the all day farmers really aren’t surging as far ahead anymore

I’ll convince some LoD’ers to do SEp2 and CoFp3 for the sake of science. I reckon 2g.

I’ll throw in my list with absolutely no evidence to back it up so I feel included.

1. Ele – Vuln/Might/Fury stacking, AoE blind on auto attack, LH so the Mesmer can occasionally do damage, Fiery Greatsword – Mandatory
2. Warrior – Banners, Empowered Allies – Mandatory
3. Thief – Stealth if you don’t know how to run past mobs, blind spam.
4. Guardian – Aegis, reflects, fire field – Mandatory
5. Ranger – Spotter, Frost Spirit, DPS dependant on keeping pet alive. With some tweaks I wouldn’t mind seeing this added to the meta
6. Necro/Engineer – Straight up don’t know kitten about them, but they’ve gotta be better than Mesmer
7. Mesmer – Reflects, Temporal Curtain, Null Field, TIME WARP (glorious, glorious utility) – Mandatory

That’s why. It’s just so buggy. I wouldn’t do it unless I desperately needed 60 tokens that day and was with a full TS guild group, trying to get anywhere with a PuG (especially when it starts bugging out) can be a nightmare.
Having said that I’ve done Path 1 and 3 with a PuG who absolutely breezed through them, so I tagged along for Path 2 and it went off without a hitch. But I’m rarely that lucky xD

I don’t regret a thing.

Assuming they correctly give 3g rewards to the likes of SE2 and COF3 then it’s already worth doing the less popular paths.

A reward for completing all paths is kind of unnecessary considering how easy it is to smash out all paths of TA/AC/COE, and I suppose even COF when people start glitching half of path 3.

Read your party chat. Almost every newbie gets so focused on what they’re doing they don’t realise that no one is along side them, and they’re getting shouted at over chat. Avoid “speed run” groups and actually listen to your team, and you won’t have any trouble.

Meh, if people don’t like PvE and have the gold to burn why not?
I mean if the achievement chests didn’t give me all the Badges of Honour I could ever need, I would throw as much gold as I could at an alternative source of Badges that kept me out of WvW. In that instance I wouldn’t have technically earned my Legendary because I “bought” my Badges, if that makes sense :/

It pops up saying “The area you are trying to enter is full” or something like that. Might just be my luck but it only gives me that when accepting the prompt that automatically pops up. If I actually go to the dungeon door and enter there it lets me in, sometimes after a few tries though, I dunno it’s weird man.

A berserker guard? That’s not 4W/1M, Guardians don’t even hit a really high number after doing hundred blades…

You can fix Ranger by changing 3 things.
1) Make pets evade when the Ranger does. It wouldn’t be hard to add and in a game where dodging is 90% of your damage mitigation, it is unacceptable that pets can’t dodge.
2) Fix the sword auto attack chain so you’re not constantly kitten-kitten ing everywhere. Just a stationary auto attack like every other profession will do.
3) To fix the mentality that most Rangers have, simply change the name of the profession to Hunter and remove all connotations that this is a ‘ranged only class’.

Bam new Meta, I’ll be off gearing my Ranger.

Fastest Alpha burns seem to be the final encounter on Path 2. He’s usually dead before I can get off a second Fiery Rush – not having AoEs to dodge helps a lot xD

How to compress as many dredge AIs as they can into the one instance.

I’m gonna go ahead tl;dr all that and say you should get a guaranteed skin if you get dredge.

I’m loving these CoF farming posts.
Seriously this patch doesn’t stop you from mindlessly running CoF1 over and over again, only now you will get rewards that respect the amount of effort you put in.
Does that not sound fair? Or are you stuck in the frame of mind that you should be the wealthiest player in the game by doing the easiest path again and again?
The game should never have reached this point, this patch is insanely overdue.
The fact that you can’t even do AC or SE without certain professions to carry you proves what CoF1 has done to player skill.
You don’t need Reflect Projectiles to deal with the Golems in SE, and you don’t need an Ice Bow for AC, whilst they do make it easier it isn’t necessary.
Do everyone a favour and just uninstall after patch if it bothers you so much, you obviously have nothing to add to the dungeon community.

They’ll take one step into TA and get wiped just trying to run to the Nightmare Vines. Then they will change to their full Clerics Guardian and complain to the forums about how they took away the only zerk-able dungeon. Don’t give credit where credit isn’t due.

As for your other points, you can revamp a dungeon as much as you want to make it the most interesting and involved fight there is. But as long as its a farmable exp path people are just going to run it to death and complain about how easy and boring it is. There’s not a whole lot wrong with the current dungeons, they’re just old, and easy tactics have been mastered long ago. All that’s left is fine tuning in the effort to shave a few seconds off.

You can drop Alpha almost as fast as the Slave Driver…

Pro tip:
Hang onto your Molten cores/lodestones for a few months, and sell any Charged ones you have.

Wow. I was lulled into a false sense of security with most people on the forums supporting this update. I was beginning to think that maybe the CoF farmers aren’t as bad as everyone thinks… I thank you for ridding me of this notion.
You guys are gonna be in for a rough ride with other dungeons. I advise that you start of with some slightly harder content like Open World PvE, y’know doing hearts and stuff? Careful it can be dangerous out there, some of those mobs even hit back
After a few months of this I think you might be ready for something like Sorrow’s Embrace….
Oh and can every ex-farmer please put the “Newbie” tag on all of their LFG’s? You’ll save us a world of effort. Hah… That’s win, I’m gonna make a thread with that in it.
