I was never interested in the whole elitism thing, but I was bored and LoD offered me an invite, turned out they’re really nice and not really jerks about anything. And so far, this place is a lot more entertaining, partial credit going to yourself including that Ranger balancing comment, oh man that still makes me chuckle…
But hey who knows? Maybe I’ll be good enough to join LoD some day, though seeing as I don’t do high level Fractals (what’s the point?) and have yet to venture into Arah, I can’t really say ‘Yeah I’ve done this’ seeing as almost all other content is just faceroll.

I’m in the market for a dungeon guild, whilst I don’t mind my guild’s community they’re just not active enough and I’m still pugging 100% of the time (makes me a little rough around the edges.) So I was considering joining ROME but after this thread he just seems to have the same arrogant/dismissive attitude as almost everyone I’ve seen post from DnT/LoD, that and despite Ather’s reassurances they still frighten the bajeezers out of me as far as elitism goes. Point being! You and Dub seem like pretty cool guys, DS recruiting?
For once I’m seeing more arrogance and unwarranted rudeness coming from someone outside of LoD/Dnt, I don’t know whether to be impressed or disappointed.
Throwing this out there, even with precision nourishment, runes, banner of discipline up, fury, full berserker gear, without Heightened Focus my crit chance sat under 90%. So theoretically at least one in every 10 hits will not crit, and it felt a lot more often that that… That is just, unacceptable DPS loss. Since changing to 30/0/0/10/30 my crit chance is (apparently) at 98% and I can really tell the difference.
That alone makes 30/0/0/10/30 better.
However without gaining might on GS crits, and losing a sigil slot that you could fill with +10% damage at night/to certain foes which would be available when dual wielding, receiving no +5% damage buff from the Dual Wielding trait and easily passing the +10% damage trait to the Axe instead.
Whilst it isn’t hard to land a full Hundred Blades, everyone can admit that they’ve had to interrupt it to evade or reposition themselves on more than one occasion.
I know I’m about to receive a lot of hate here, but is the Greatsword really worth keeping? Axe auto attack and GS have been close in DPS for a long time now, but I think this patch has nudged Axe ahead, not even mentioning the convenience of not being rooted all the time, and the freedom gained from another weapon slot if you didn’t want to Axe/Mace all day.
3 hours!? I could have made 30 gold in CoF in that time! Granted I would never do CoF beyond receiving <20 tokens per run, but the point still stands. In fact that run probably cost you money in armor repairs, stuff and that.
Favourite so far? Crucible of Eternity. That dungeon gave me so much grief when I first started, now it’s just faceroll and I’m usually typing to guildies during Alpha. So yeah it has a bit of nostalgic value. Sorrow’s Embrace has a lot of potential, shame those Rare’s don’t salvage for ectos…
Though if I ever find a group to take me I have high hopes for Arah, Lupicus looks quite fun!
I agree about Caudecus’s Manor, I change all utilities to stability/stunbreakers before entering that hell-hole. It’s almost like WvW the way you get CC ganked. AC I have a bit more tolerance for because I loved the original, though I now refuse to do Path 2 unless I’m with a solid group.

Or even make the pet dodge as you dodge, if its a nasty enough of an AoE you’ll probably be trying to avoid it as well, oh wait never mind, you’re at 4000 range with auto attack on while you check Facebook right?
How competent are we talking here? Like consistent Berserker DPS, melee all the time, rarely go down competent? Or like flawless executions of Hundred Blades → one swing → Whirlwind → cyclone axe → auto attack x2 chains or whatever that super l33t DPS cycle is, never die ever, weapons with respective sigils for each dungeon? On that note, is that the sort of stuff expected in Dnt and LoD? Cause that’s kinda… Intimidating
Honestly as a Zerker Warrior with essentially the flavour of the month build, even I have trouble getting into HotW, that place is a wasteland. In the time it takes just to get a group I could have done CoF numerous times…
Because 9/10 times low achievement points means they are terrible? The effect multiplies tenfold if you’re using a Ranger. A ranger must have at least 4000 achievement points to not get insta-kicked when I’m in a rush, and I consider that to be pretty lenient considering how useless rangers are.
Yeah I recently dropped the Arms tree to pursue Heightened Focus as I still wasn’t getting 100% crits despite being full Berserker with Banner of Disc and nourishment up the wazoo, just my luck. I only had 20 points invested which ended up being 10% crit chance exactly, so I gained 5% crit chance with Heightened Focus, not to mention a solid amount of Crit Damage. With the GS no longer granting me might I’ve dropped it completely, the only thing I can’t decide is where to put that last 10 points… Empowered? Empowered Allies? Inspiring Banners for permanent BoD uptime? Deep Cuts? (I run Axe/sword, sword/shield, it’s not ‘optimal’ but I play what’s fun for me.)
I’d say don’t underestimate Inspiring Banners. Unless you have two people alternating Banner of Discipline (rather wasteful) or the banner’s downtime always happens between battles (rather unlikely) then every second that you don’t have that banner down is a party wide 15% damage reduction, not to mention a minor crit chance penalty….
Had an ‘experienced’ Ranger during CoE. They used Swoop towards the top of the stairs leading into the Golem’s room. Went straight past the Mesmer’s portal and landing in the middle of the doorway, to which we were met with the sound of the Turrets firing up. I swear they are all pants on head kittened, and they seem to have the most potential to absolutely wreck a team.
Aye but it was ‘meant’ to have been patched, and I still regularly shoot right past the target and get a ‘Miss’ even Savage Leap is beginning to do it, completely overshooting the target, even worse on uneven terrain.
Since the patch, at least half of my Rushes still end up with sprinting on the spot right in front of the (stationary) target for a good two seconds before making the swing.
It could just be my Internet, as a lowly Australian our suffering is eternal as far as lag goes.
Anyone else had any trouble with it?
Yes combo’s are a team effort, hence why it’s called a combo and not a solo. Elementalists have an abundance of fields but few finishers, put us together and SHAZAAM we go Black Adam on their butts.
Warriors need more versatility not necessarily sustainability, whilst our healing skills need a massive buff (CD reduction and potency boost) that is all we need, and to those who preach sustain I urge them to go play a Guardian.
The only class ability that I believe is worse than ours is the Thief’s, but the rest of that class is put together so well (overpowered) that it makes up for it tenfold.
As a good Guardian should be mashing their virtues throughout a fight we should be mashing our Burst Skills, which means we need 1) more of them (F2-F4) and 2) traits that encourage using them over hoarding adrenalin.
Power Grandmaster trait, Unstoppable:
Gain 5/10/15 stacks of might for 10 seconds after using F1
Gain 2/3/5 seconds of Stability after using F2
Gain 2/3/5 seconds of Condition Immunity after using F3
Came up with these on the spot, but you get the jist, reward for using Bursts. Warrior just needs a bit of thinking like this to get it back in the game.
PVT/Valkyrie also works if you get enough precision from traits/utilities/nourishment. I ran this for a little bit before I went ‘kitten it’ and went full berserker.
Banner of Discipline, maybe Signet of Fury if you can afford the utility, precision nourishment (e.g Slice of Candied Dragon Roll and Maintenance Oils), as well as the Heightened Focus trait, a good investment into the Precision tree, and any other ‘+x% crit chance when wielding whatever weapon’ traits I can’t remember which. Runes with precision (e.g Rune of Lyssa, Ruby Orbs) and Sigils (Sigil of Accuracy/Perception.) It’s one hell of a build remake but the defensive stats are worth it if that’s what you’re looking for, good luck!
I’ve always loved huddling behind my shield but I think OH Sword with its new Riposte buff might be well on its way to replacing that too, my god, dual swords, there’s something I never imagined myself using…
I fear the Greatsword, Axe/x build is no more. I’m not sure about anyone else but trying to land that final hit after already being completely immobile during Hundred Blades is proving to be quite a challenge. With this massive DPS loss from not landing that final chop every cycle I think the Sword could very well replace it. Whilst the patch is trying to steer us away from Adrenalin hoarding I think that’s exactly what I’ll be changing to. Eviscerate is the only thing giving me pause, but even then just charging the rest of the way up the Power Tree and nabbing Berserker’s Power, a now very reasonable thing to do having two useless PvE burst skills. Not to mention the Sword #3 skill now dealing hefty damage plus the condition damage (I know, I know but damage is damage, not sure about 4 Warrs using the sword because the bleed cap would be reached far too quickly.)
If I understand correctly you mean to reduce the burst skill cool down by 2% per trait point, right. (correct me if I’m wrong)
First of, I’m all in favor of getting rid of the negligible damage buff and replace it with a cd down reduction, BUT 2% per trait point? You can’t be serious.
Think it through, with 20 points invested (which is probably the average amount invested into discipline to get mobile strikes) this would then mean that every 6 seconds you can eviscerate / kill shot someone, stun someone for up to 3/4 seconds (granted mace gets the leaked buff and sigil of paralysation remains as it is), AoE stun for up to 2-3 seconds with Hammer, immobilise for up to 4 seconds (plus whatever condi duration you’re running), etc.
With 30 points and Burst Mastery (as it is now) you could do all that every 3.2 secs.
That wouldn’t just be OP. It would be game breaking.
IMO unless the change to Burst Mastery mentioned in the GW2hub patch notes are legit, 1% would be too much (because of Mace and Sword alone). However if burst mastery now means less adrenaline spent and more damage inflicted, it could work.
Building adrenalin is not as easy as people think. In PvP we land few hits so without using instant fill adrenalin skills (wasted traits and slots to do so) then you would hardly be able to take advantage of the reduced CD, which is why I suggested getting rid of the cooldown all together. Think about it, when was the last time you landed a full attack chain on someone to fill your adrenal in 4 seconds? I’m sure it’s happened, but not very often, and I think that in those cases we should be rewarded by dropping another Burst Skill on someone.
Fear of us becoming OP is why we have been left at the bottom of the barrel for so long, we don’t need more sustainability, if you want that just role a Guardian. We need damage and easier ways to deal out that damage, and I think this would be perfect for the job.
If you want sustainability go play a kittening Guardian, so tired of the same whining about how Warrior needs protection and what not.
All we need in that department is our base heal to reflect our health pool, that is all.
I’ve made a similar suggestion in the past and I still believe that +2% CD reduction would be more appropriate. Elementalists receive the exact same trait buff on their profession skill. If we have the Adrenalin we should be allowed to use it.
In an imaginary world where Warriors were up there with the best, we would have no cooldown and rapidly filling adrenalin to set off as many burst skills as possible would finally make us the ‘pain trains’ we were always meant to be. No longer would dodging one strong hit secure victory against us, and even bunkers would think twice about trying to faceroll a Warrior setting loose a flurry of Earthshaker’s and Eviscerates. The other classes can keep their kiting, because now they would actually pay heavily if we caught them.
I imagine it would then just be – Warrior, Guard, Mes, Ele, Engie/Thief. Necro and Ranger would still be left out because they are useless.
It’s probably going to change to this on our runs anyway.
We’re already running Guard, Ele, 2 War, Mesmer. One of those warriors can be replaced by a competent thief any time and with the update to eles, we might change to Guardian, 2 ele, War, Mes instead.
Although the theorycrafting and build making is mainly going to be up to Nikaido and the others, because I’m leaving till August.
Which is sad though, I like theorycrafting…
Yarp, Warrior’s DPS is taking a small hit, might be enough to warrant swapping us out for a thief or DPS guard. Roll a Guard. Warriors are taking a damage nerf while Guards are getting strong buffs across the board. They’ll soon completely replace Warriors in the PvE spectrum as well as building an even stronger presence in PvP.
The entire getting booted at all system is flawed. The only reason you should get kicked from a dungeon is if you are Vote Kicked or leave the party. Vote kicking should be increased to 3 votes including the person who started the kick, majority rules.
If she drops poison on you when trying to do that method just hightail it out of there? It’s pretty easy to see a poison field go down. Happened once where the stack didn’t work, I legged it out of there with 3/4 health and purged the poison as soon as I was clear, turned around ready to fight her proper only to find my whole team was defeated. I was just like “…really?”
Not gonna lie, I haven’t done Path 2 in a very long time, where as I still regularly do 1 + 3. The other facerollers must agree because all the LFG’s are “p1 + 3”. When content is too hard just don’t do it right?
But seriously it’s the cripple that kittens me off, 6 hours of cripple with each swipe. Usually followed by getting AoE’s dumped on me so have to burn both evades just to get out of it only to get crippled again, my cleanses/blocks/evades burned long ago… A little bit more than L2D because the frequency of AoE’s and claw attacks are rather high.

^ Balanced Stance, For Great Justice , Banner of Discipline are the utilities I tend to take. Though I will swap out Balanced Stance if I know there’s no CC in the next battle.

After the first mob he started whining at us to carry his banners, to which I responded with /laugh and off I went with my own banner in hand, the team ignoring him also… It is a huge inconvenience and an unreasonable thing to expect from a PuG. On another note, to be Warrior worth taking you should be clad in Berserker’s gear, without any utility you’re just as vulnerable as a rubbish Signet Warrior…
Also I would never touch another Warrior’s banner and it still kittens me off when people pick up mine. It’s like “No no no, you are not helping, look at that you’re doing it all wrong, where’s the swiftness? We’re nearly at the next mob where’s that fury? And you didn’t even use the Rush, see I’d be there by now, useless you are!” …. I can be a very vocal player.

Me? Elitist? I surprise myself with how patient I can be (sometimes) in dungeons. Banners are just a pet peeve of mine, and a knee-jerk reaction to despise banner thieves.

Banner of Discipline is the only one worth taking. It always kittens me when another Warrior without banner healing calls dibs on it. Then I am forced to use the next best banner, Banner of Tactics. Bringing me up to +40% Boon Duration which brings me to my next point about Signet of Rage with Lyssa Runes and Signet Mastery traited…. Having Protection, Retal and Stability when eating a boss hit makes me feel like a friggin Guardian, even though I’m clad in Zerkers….
Also screw Battle Standard! It’s good for one battle then on CD for the rest of the dungeon, be serious.

Best of luck with anyone landing Whirling Axe in PvP/WvW. I’ll give it two hits before they barrel roll and calmly walk away until you’re done, it’s a non-dagger-throwing-non-projectile-reflecting version of Dagger Storm, A.K.A useless.
However I imagine it will be the offhand counterpart to whatever alt set goes along with the Greatsword in PvE, what the MH will be I just don’t know yet. With the MH Axe nerf it will either be kept but much harder to use, now making both DPS cycles uninterruptible to maintain damage (100b and axe auto chain.) I’d suggest Sword but crippling a mob is usually pointless, so until patch and we start crunching the numbers, I really don’t know.
Eh it’s a step in the right direction. Discouraging Adrenalin hoarding should be top priority, so far they’re halfway there, they’ve made it incredibly ineffective to go for all adrenalin hoarding traits, yet given us virtually nothing as a reward for using it. So at the moment, it’s a pseudo-nerf, one which I’m hoping will eventually blossom into something amazing with a reworked adrenalin system.
Our heals are still disgustingly bad, but again -5 seconds CD is a step in the right direction.
And of course this is assuming all these rumours turn out to be true, guess we just wait and see.
(I’m hanging onto that Jade Dragon Ticket in case they do wreck Axe, did you see that? Now it’s just a mobile version of 100b, interrupt it and there was no point in doing the first few swings, but yah… See how we go)
