Dis guy is so Brom right now.
With Aegis? You can just run through with Aegis. Though I have had a scheming Archer shoot me as I was stepping through, insta-gibbed, thanks Archer.
Path 1 and 3 are heaps easier IMO, anything involving burrows can be solved by someone with a high Power stat picking up a frost bow. Or even without a bow a team that just has high Power so even PVT carebears can do it. The Howling King is purely a DPS race, get him down before you get buried in mobs, his two attacks are very easy to dodge/sidestep. In lieu of that then kite like a madman at ranged trying to burn the mobs in fire, oh and bring tonnes of stability.
Colossus is even easier, if your team is too slow to DPS him down while being stacked in the corner, then have the person who Grast and Tzark are following aggro the boss near that corner. All goes well Colossus will waste time killing the NPC’s while you all range him to death from the safe spot. Even if the NPC’s cark it he should be at least be down to 50% health. You could always just stand behind and melee him while NPC’s have aggro, seeing as I haven’t seen Grast fail at putting up the shield in a long time. But expecting PuGs to melee usually ends up being a solo effort
One possibility for the quantity of end chest rewards could be based on how much of the dungeon path content you complete i.e. skipping kholer and/or troll will net you less end rewards than a path clear with him and troll killed.
I think my Warrior has a crush on you. She’s always calling out your name in combat :/
Just don’t do p2
Same rule applies to TA F/U, SE p2 and CoF p3. No amount of token lust will ever drive me to pug those paths.
I’ve seen this also. To me it resembles a Nightmare Husk from TA doing the big ground slam with his fists that knocks you back. I’ve only had this happened once but it knocked me back as well as wiping most of my health. As for the trigger? I have absolutely no idea, I was just meleeing him as usual though it was in a PuG so I can’t even guess as to what the other people were doing (AFK’ing at the top of the stairs?)
Oh my god please don’t Eviscerate through that bubble xD Take everything I say with at least two bagfulls of salt.
MH Mace counter, OH Sword Riposte and Shield Block will get you through, haven’t tried Whirlwind or Endure Pain, but I’m inclined to guess that they don’t work.
You can Eviscerate through it on a Warrior, only Eviscerate though, even Whirlwind doesn’t work.
Bit of a story but yeah so I was Pugging TA Up, now I’m usually pretty okay with whatever suboptimal strategies pugs use but this one was pretty bad. First thing I notice is that at the Nightmare Vines our Elementalist isn’t using staff or daggers or even trying to do the optimal boon rotation, she’s just sitting there in water attunement auto attacking with a conjured hammer. But whatever I don’t say anything. Next thing was our Warrior wasn’t even using a Greatsword, just sitting there mostly auto attacking with an Axe….
After the Champion Vine goes down I politely tell the Warrior that Greatsword does best damage, I mean its not like an axe hit ever did 20k damage…. I don’t bother with the Elementalist because as the Guardian I could make up for the lack of boons and healing.
The spider mobs go down fairly easily thanks to my healing and damage, the Warrior and Ele nearly getting downed by trying to melee. Before Malrona I say that we’re going to range, just in case those two try to kill themselves in melee. But before I know it they charge in, have a guess… Trying to melee her. You’d think people would listen to someone with over 10,000 achievement points and the Bifrost (Moot and Flameseeker Prophecies too but I don’t need another weapon set in TA.)
Sure enough about halfway through the Elementalist gets downed in melee, almost defeated too. I hold aggro the whole time, easily avoiding all of her attacks by staying at ranged, something which I try to explain to them after we defeat her. Then all of a sudden bam, Caledon Forest loading screen. Like what the hell!? I practically carried the group that far and then when I try to help them with strategies and optimal builds I get kicked. Arena please fix this issue, it should be a majority vote, the Longbow Ranger and Dual Pistol Thief both knew how to do the encounter properly by staying at range, having two people who don’t shouldn’t be able to kick others!
I think Lordkrall is on to something there. You can literally troll kholer.
Dodge rolling is OP. Change it to something like 50% damage taken from hits when evading and the current Meta would collapse. Then you’d start seeing more build variety, more pure support guardians, etc etc.
Not saying I recommend this course of action as there’s a thin line before it becomes a WoW ripoff.
No no! It’s still there! If you go back to where that chest was now it’ll be full of loot waiting for you, you’ll even get tokens too!
You must be one hell of a kitten. Yep, I even deliberately typed kitten.
I’m hardly the friendliest person to PuG with and I’ve literally never been kicked over an argument. I’ve been hounded by lag and played appallingly from the get go and haven’t been kicked.
The only reason I believe you, and many other people that make posts like this, have this problem is that you’re both 1) a bad player and 2) a kitten about how bad of a player you are. Trying to be the ‘party leader’ when someone has already assumed the mantle creates trouble, arguing at all creates trouble. You really have to ask yourself whether arguing over a certain tactic is worth starting trouble or whether its easier to just do things their way, also if you’re the one getting kicked, their way was right.
Also ignorant comments like “I’m ranged” or mentioning that you’re wearing any gear other than Berserker’s can stir up a few people in the party, but that comes down to being a leech on your team which is just point No# 1.
Ohhhh those screams when a War in my party trolled us by planting a Warbanner in the middle of the lasers. Hilarious and agonizing XD
That…. Is genius. I’m gonna do that next PuG, I don’t even care if I get kicked. For guild runs a friendly Warhorn toot to show my support is sufficient
Haha I tried it the other day. Mashed F just out of actual opening range of the chest, collected all the boss loot, mashed F some more for good measure. Went right up to the big chest and pushed F, opened up and gave me lots of shinies. Anyways it’s no biggy, think I’ve side-tracked from the OP’s topic just a bit xD
… We really are an impatient lot.
I’m guessing not, I turned on ‘AoE loot’ and all that jazz when they brought it out. It works, but mashing F near those gold reward chests does nothing. I dunno man.
Literally the only thing I’ve noticed get changed in last patch is that the list of acquired loot now sits bang smack over the button. So you loot the chest, accept your tokens, then wait 4642653476 hours for the auto loot to get out of the way.
Sorry guys, I’ll be leaving party ASAP from now on, better get to that chest quick.
AoE loot does not open reward chests… I’m onto you Zara.
I still can’t get over that full Cleric’s, 10k AP Thief using Signet of Malice… I am still truly gobsmacked about that.
Yeah this happened to me. My router chucked a hissy-fit and took 5ever to get me reconnected. By that point everyone had already left the dungeon and voila, no reward. I was even there to see the final Alpha’s health bar disappear before my router started trolling me <_<
^ I miss bugging out the Golem in CoE
The AoE loot opens chests? Here I’ve been walking up to them…
Lol 0/10 Brazil
Yeah I’ve just gotten into the habit of leaving the instance before leaving party, takes the same amount of time and the button doesn’t show up until you have received the token reward. All bases covered :]
You could always just take this ‘bunker and win’ mindset into PvP/WvW and drop Zerkers by looking at them.
Who invited the fun police? You’re like that neighbour that calls the cops because there’s an illegally parked car on the street.
It doesn’t affect you at all as you can choose who you run with, so actively looking to see others punished for playing differently to you…. Pretty much makes you the worst kind of person.
How do you do this by accident? Are you really in such a hurry to disband the party? You can just leave the instance first, and the loading of the next area gives more than enough time for the slackers to make it to the chest, then you can leave party and boot everyone.
lol those are the only thing that give me stacks cos my scumbag guildies keep killing the golems before I can get to them
Or giving swiftness when you’re trying to jump over the lasers
Look at players like Colesy and tell me it doesn’t create an unhealthy dungeon community.
Forged in the fiery pits of the Citadel, these players have had all emotion removed. All humanity and sense of enjoyment has long since been consumed by the eternal flame. Now, all that remains is an empty husk that doesn’t even know what to do with all that gold anymore, but he must go on. He must become richer, For the glory of Gaheron!
gw2bear.com
I remember when those little crablings gave me a lvl 80 exotic back piece and a Charged Lodestone, best auto loot ever.
Be first to the chest.
Really is a shame about SE. I love p1 and p3. I mean its a bit easy all over and there’s too many boss exploits. But I just love the feel of it, and the sections where you’re practically encouraged to wade through dozens of mobs and go through pseudo jumping puzzles whilst getting bombarded is just… I love it
P2 can die in a hole, do yourself a favour and don’t go near it. It’s not hard, just ungodly long.
Also how metal was SE Story!? It and Citadel of Flame Story are my favourites as far as unique encounters go (I suppose it would become laughably boring if it were farmed like exp modes are, but still.)
If its a non melee battle then you use both Rifle and Longbow. Longbow #3, Rifle #4,#3 and Killshot are your big hitters, we cycle for melee, why not ranged?
Having run 30/0/0/10/30 in the past I can say the crit chance is absolutely pathetic, even in full Berserkers. You’re too afraid to use Eviscerate which hits like a kittening truck, despite me defending it in the past it really just has nothing on 30/25/0/0/15.
I’m hearing different optimal DPS cycles from everyone. What I do do is open with Greatsword (Rush to start the battle) Hundred Blades -> one swing of auto attack -> Whirlwind through target-> if that made a gap I’ll use Bladetrail as I’m running back, if against a wall I change to Axe/Mace straight away -> Auto attack chain -> 2,4,5 (if I’m not saving it for an interrupt, it hits twice in melee range for big damage), then Eviscerate -> back to Greatsword and repeat.
Axe/Mace 4,5 won’t always be ready in that order, but really… Between dodging attacks, dropping banners, using Signet of Rage, healing, You’ve got enough gap fillers there to keep a pretty optimal rotation going. As long as you’re actively using all your skills as they come off CD, you’re landing your full Hundred Blades, getting at least 7k or so out of you Whirlwind, not interrupting your Axe Chain, you’re doing good damage as far as I’m concerned. Those are your big damage dealers, the order of the other skills is secondary in importance.
Edit: heh… I said ‘do do’

Two questions aimed at no one in particular.
1) Does the Berserker ‘s Power trait still apply its bonus to Burst Attacks? I’d assume it would seeing as the hit connects before your adrenalin is depleted, but any confirmation would be appreciated.
And 2) Has it been considered that the Warrior running Banner of Discipline should instead spend those 10 points in Tactics on Inspiring Banners? The added range isn’t much of an issue as the base range is fairly adequate for most encounters, rather the reduced CD. Essentially every second that the BoD isn’t down is a party wide >15% damage loss (even I notice the reduced crit rate when it isn’t down.) Given that statement said Warrior should run full buff-bot Banner of Strength and Discipline + FGJ to make the most of reduced CD.
Isn’t that what all these Living Story updates have been? Granted I don’t even bother learning a temporary dungeon unless the reward is simply a ‘must have’.
Country: Australia
Server: Kaineng, but I’ve guested to others with the same problem.
All other games work fine, videos load fine, hell I’ve even played this game with capped internet during the “safe” times without significant lag.
Flawless gameplay (as flawless as you can get over here, approx 200 ping) before 5pm AEST (Midnight PST.) After that it fluctuates from 500-1000 according to Resource Monitor, becoming completely unplayable. Happens every day, and has been for the past couple months.
WvW and PvP is always unplayable regardless of the time of day, but the permanent lag is slowly creeping into PvE and the “pre-midnight safe time” is steadily getting more and more lag.
Been playing for a while now and I don’t remember this being a problem in the past. Considering the game mostly runs well during the “safe” times the potential for minimal lag is most certainly there.
It’s a shame, becase 5pm is roughly when I can start playing after work. So the daily ritual is Log In, Savage Leap, rubber band wildly all over LA until the leap concludes with me still airborne doing a comical ‘falling’ animation, sigh and log off.

Being in an organised guild run with TS will allow you to reap many benefits during battle.
Setting up one attack to do a bajillion damage should not be one of them.
It depends on the time of day, it’s pretty busy around daily reset.
Considering I’ve never done a guild run in CoE I wouldn’t sell PuG’s short, it has the sort of dynamic that you only need two people need to know what their doing for Alpha, and that’s just to break each other out of crystals, something even a PVT carebear can do. Unless of course you have ports but who brings all those if you’re not expecting to solo him?
Once CoF gets out into the ground, CoE popularity will skyrocket, and watch that Charged Lodestone price plummet
“You don’t need to change a gimmick that will wipe 3/4 of his health because people will take at least 3 times longer to kill him”
Do you guys even hear yourselves?
If its still so easy to burn him down then there’s no problem in taking away the ‘I Win’ button. DPSing him down quickly is a legitimate strategy, using a gimmick so he hits himself in the face for 3653742454 damage is just so… Cheap, smart, but cheap.
(edited by Dolan.3071)
Dropping supposedly one of the hardest bosses in the game in 20 seconds is gonna raise some eyebrows, doesn’t matter how organised the group is.
Also using reflect projectiles isn’t a ‘Lupi Only’ situation, it’s almost constantly used in high end fractals.
But c’mon using one skill to wipe 3/4 of a boss’s health? Yes it’s smart, but it’s pretty much an ‘I win’ button, and bosses shouldn’t have those. I mean you could even just change it so it’s more of an Alpha style AoE that covers the floor, and leave Feedback as is.
It’s all about dodging and positioning. Groups can run dungeons naked because they can dodge the big hits and position their opponents to their advantage.
If you guys managed to get past the Spider Queen then you most certainly have what it takes to clear the rest. Without any prior knowledge you will most likely wipe a few times just to learn what to dodge, which is why I recommend taking someone who knows what they’re doing to show you, there’s plenty on the forums and I’d be willing to teach you on the weekend if you’d like.
Edit: Assuming you play NA Servers.

DAT FEEDBACK.
Also congrats on shooting yourself in the foot.
Reflection skill nerfs in 3…2… Next year sometime when they finally get around to it.
How is this thread still going?
Xehanort: “Okay thanks guys I just wanted to get my one fractal done for my daily, cyas”
> leaves
Player 1: “What the hell!? Did that guy just leave? What a twat! What the hell are we meant to do now!?”
Player 2: “OMGSRSLY?LIEKWTFMAN”
Player 3: “Hey I think I’ve heard of this website people use to find more members maybe we can-”
Player 4: “EUGH my jimmies are so rustled right now, there’s no point even going on anymore, this run has been a complete waste, I’m outta here”
> leaves
Player 2: “ZOMFGYIZEVRY1L33V1NG!!1!1!?”
Player 1: “We can’t possibly 3 man the rest of this, good luck guys”
> leaves
Player 3: There I’ve just posted an ad on that website, look we’ve already got two party requests-
> Player 2 leaves
> Cue Lion’s Arch loading screen.
My god, please don’t start Pugging until you’re better.
Dungeons are meant to be the difficult content, it’s meant to be hard, even then it’s all faceroll easy once you learn the encounters.
The Spider Queen’s AoEs hurt? Don’t stand in them!? Is that really so hard to figure out?
The spider spawns sit at range, spread far apart making it too hard to kill them? Bottleneck them, hide around a corner, make them come to you. Learning how to use Line of Sight will make all of your dungeon encounters easier.
Using Line of Sight is a method where your team stacks in one place, one person goes and pulls the mobs before rejoining the stack (usually around a corner.) And voila the mobs will come to you, they will be grouped up and in melee range, ready to eat as many AoE’s and cleave attacks as you can throw at them. Bear in mind, some mobs have cleave damage themselves.
In an ideal world every profession would bring a unique, non stackable, invaluable party buff. As it stands Warriors have banners and Empower Allies, Mesmers have Time Warp (reflect projectiles, mob positioning), Guardians have Aegis (reflect projectiles, healing, protection and stability). Other classes can bring other things to the table, such as stealth, but they’re just not as valuable compared to the trinity. TBH Spotter is a step in the right direction, all that class needs is a bit of tweaking and people will always want one just for that buff (What is like +7/8% crit chance?)
Having said that, I’m no where near as savvy with other professions as I am with Warrior, do other classes have those party wide buffs like Empower Allies and Spotter?
“I don’t melee I’m ranged”
Saying this should be the grounds for an instant vote kick.
Ah path 2 that’d be it, I don’t even notice which attacks he does on most runs, how sad is that? It’s like, avoid AoE’s, ignore the rest.
But yeah PuG’s are a massive hinderence on the Husk, I’ve almost vote kicked a guy who kept double zapping my golems despite copping an earful over party chat <_<
Ooh that was really good! I have to admit I got a bit distracted when I noticed you shooting unicorns around :P
A few questions, how come Alpha never did Teeth of Mordremoth? (The ground spike cone attack)
I couldn’t really tell how you were avoiding the Golem’s knockdown laser, was that just Smoke Screen or what?
Also those first couple of attempts at the Evolved Husk was my experience, I’d just get too close and they’d decide to blow up there, then I’d nick 3 blossoms too many and lost the plot xD
I lol’d at Spire at the start, the number of times I’ve had to run back and revive her <_<
If only my Warrior could bust itself out of those crystals, then I could solo him if my team wipes, nowadays if they die so do I…
Anyway awesome vid, but I do feel sorry for a Thief’s lack of Fury uptime, the lack of critical hits really roughed up your deeps.
I legitimately have not seem a shout heal warrior in over a year, maybe I’m just lucky. However the pure ranged Guards, Thieves and Rangers are at least one in each PuG. Alternately I have a soft spot for staff Ele’s
