The patch notes from 2 days ago suggests the feature is now disabled by default. As an NA player it simply hasn’t been an issue for me, but it looks like they listened to the complaints from those affected.

I really don’t think Momma will have an issue with Jory’s sexuality beyond “but I want grandkids.” Assuming the writers pay attention to established lore, anyway, sigh. In Tyria there simply isn’t the stigma that many modern Earth inhabitants assign to homosexuality.
So it could be due to the noble issue, or because Jory knows how much raw emotion and reaction there is going to be, or simply that the writers needed to split up the team for a bit.
It just happened to my group right after Ft. Salma. Fortunately most of us needed a break anyway. It took me two tries to rejoin the game (first one I only thought I was in it, I couldn’t mine or use crystals). I seem solid now, so keep trying if you need to be in game.
The last time I opened Black Lion Chests (within the last month or so) I got both a hair kit and a total makeover. I think they may still rarely come from doing dailies.
They’ve always been fairly rare as “drops” from either source, though, so you’re likely just facing RNG.
I’m not in a giant guild. We seldom have as many as 10 online at once. We do make our own RP, though, not so much randomly joining other scenes.
I can only give anecdotal evidence, but the last few times I’ve set foot in DR or the Grove I’ve heard RP happening (I’m on TC), and that wasn’t the case right after the megaserver hit the cities.
My own guild is getting more active in in-game RP again. We recently did a scene in Rata Sum’s port and most if not all of us showed up without needing a taxi, so we were getting grouped with our guild.
One griefer did show up and eventually get persistent enough (we were laughing at his lack of anything else to do with his life, but he was spamming our chat up with his custom sexually nasty emotes) that we shifted our locale to finish the scene. That’s compared to the zillions of griefers that flocked to RP pockets right after megaservers began.
So, anecdotally, it’s improving.
Side note: How awesome it would be if, per someone else’s suggestion, vines became the GW2 “Dhuuming” of those banned. And if a flurry of reports of harassment got an ANet person to vine the person right there after a quick review of the chatlog to verify. /dreams
The act of logging in is what unlocks it. You don’t have to be 80 now, you can access it later on. If you don’t log in during the 2 weeks, then you have to pay for it later. But it will be waiting for you even if you can’t play it just this minute.
Hmm. I’m heartened by your reading of that green orb’s smashing being Zhaitan’s death. I had a much more pessimistic interpretation, that it was Mordremoth attacking the Pale Tree and sending his destruction out through everything.

Depends what profession you are. My thief played a long, looong game of tag with them. My guardian blind-stomped them to bits. I haven’t done it with anyone else yet.
Just keep moving and use your various damage mitigators as you whittle the vets down. Once they’re dead the dampener loses its force field and dies in a few hits.
I’m sure she has good reason for moving on and it doesn’t necessarily mean she’s unhappy where she is. Very few people stay in the same job for decades any more.

I’m going to try that Windows mouse option trick. I lose the cursor a lot, pretty sure it’s fully disappeared. Usually I have to sweep right repeatedly to get it onto my other monitor, then back to the action. The Ctrl thing might save a lot of time!
Meanwhile another possibility is to tap a ground target hotkey to make the green/red target field show up, if it will in the effects haze.

It is not my map. It was linked in the vine discussion thread in the Gates of Maguuma subforum. It was put together by people using a graphics glitch to “see” vines before the non-vined wp rendered. Vines did not appear for them in other wps, only these ones.
If you want a current map, this is not it. This is the projected final spread of the vined wp’s using a glitch, as I said, to find spots not yet active in the game. I have no idea if it is accurate or not. Do not rely on it, or even view it if you’d rather see the slow spread “live.”
I thought applying a skin made an item account bound no matter what rarity it might be?
I permanently keep the fall traits on unless I am in a dungeon. I like JPs. Dry Top is full of falling. Used to be one could get into uninstanced Salma by leaping down onto a roof that needed a fall damage trait to survive.
If you think it’s a wasted trait, don’t use it. There are several other options to put in the slot.
Ah yes. This is why I said it was “very minor” as a concern, and that I “don’t fuss over every little typo and error.” This one is so simple to fix, the thread title alone tells someone unsure of the spelling what the correct version is.
Most of the consistent errors pointed out in this thread are perpetrated by native English speakers and writers, at that. No, no one should be mocked for making the errors. English is a complicated and baffling language. However, mocking the errors themselves does not automatically mean castigating the writer. I haven’t seen anyone in this thread calling people idiots or ordering them to learn to spell, only naming the consistent errors that grate on them.
If no one ever points out an error (keeping it non-demeaning, naturally), how will anyone else ever learn?
I’ve gotten official gem cards on Amazon. The physical card is mailed to the buyer, no need to worry about the code being pre-used.
I would not trust a code emailed to me. A human has to scratch off the card and send the code — just takes one bad seed to ruin your purchase.
Don’t worry about constant gear replacement, either. Maybe every 5 or 10 levels fill out your gear with TP purchases but blues are fine, greens are nice if you can afford them, and yellows just aren’t needed until much higher levels. Heck, even sigils/runes aren’t vital, but they cost under 20 c for the most part so why not?
Gather all the waypoints you can, taking your time to do the exploration and events in between them.
Ah, I see you have already pushed to 80 via WvW. If you have the money for some yellow gear that might be worth your while, maybe level 78-79 as that will be much cheaper than 80. Then maybe go for dungeons. Post in LFG something like “new player, need fights expl.” and see if you find nice people to walk you through.
Right now my guild’s in a lull in terms of having lots of people on but I’m in game fairly frequently (huzzah month long vacation) so if you see me you can /w me for more focused help and possible dungeon aid.
I wp’d to Rata Sum Accountancy from the Dry Top sandstorm. The sound effects kept going, which was fine, sometimes a track gets “stuck” a while. I did my business at the bank and the TP, roaring wind in my ears the whole time, and decided to log out.
Not so fine, the game hung up a good while until Windows decided it wasn’t responding.
It finally let me close it (via the Windows “not responding – close?” button). I’m not sure if this is an Audio bug or not, the stuck sound could be from the client as a whole having issues.

Cool, but the method of discovery kinda pummels the 4th wall.
It does, so I warned guildies it was a spoiler. However, it can be retconned pretty easily. If WPs are flickering, you bet the merchants near them are screaming bloody murder and study teams have gone out to scratch their heads over the issue and have found wonky readings at a lot of wps that aren’t flickering or vined yet.. Just because the game writers don’t have the resources to change all the NPC dialogue to react to fluid situations (remember the centaurs blithely building the bridge in the shadow of the Tower?) doesn’t mean the NPC’s aren’t responding. It’s like LA turned out to be a city of over 40K people when all we see in game is a few random buildings around a bay.
So that map can be the result of IC response that we didn’t see in game mechanics.
(This does not mean players should happily peruse it if they hate spoilers).
That would be very helpful! In the meanwhile if you’re drowning in bank expresses as I am you might spend one now and then to check. Or keep a separate list, be it Excel or pencil and paper, to track the things you care about (way too much work when the game could just tell you).

Mystic, thanks for that explanation of flipping, I never really understood the term before and you cleared it up in a few words.
I almost never use consumables in any game even when I intend to, as they are most useful when I’m doing a lot of things in game and thus I get too busy to remember to open the inventory for them. Much as I want the recipes as a completionist, it really would only be to link the item in chat for RP picnics as my main RP guy is a gourmet chef as one of his hobbies. That’s not worth grinding out that many geodes, not when I can’t actually give the item to someone else to nibble during the RP.
In a game designed to promote cooperation, reserving cactus pies to only the cook seems an odd decision.
I’ve long given up on then/than, they’re/their/there … unless it’s a guildie that knows I mean it kindly (or at least lets it become a running joke).
Also I am guilty of “wierd” because I think that both “weird” and “wierd” are legitimate spellings and typing the “wierd” version flows more easily on a QWERTY keyboard. I could well be wrong, though, as all the spellcheckers say so. Then again they don’t like me using British spellings such as “colour” so I will not blindly bow to their authority!
Hmm, Awkturtle, take a look at the CM headpiece. It has two dye channels, one for the gem and one for the tiara part, and would show nicely on your sylvari’s forehead without covering her leaves and glow.
Indeed, ArchieD, I’ve never gotten a precursor drop and I even made it through the Karka Invasion without DC’ing, main map start to finish, got the chest which was spewing precursors like mardi gras beads to the crowds (but not to me). A guild mate got … Dusk? a GS precursor from that. Another guildie had the Moot’s precursor drop off a trash spider in AC explorable traps path. That’s all I’ve seen of precursor drops in all this time.
I’d like a little more realism in where the darkness is, though. The mine with Toska in it is completely black within line of sight of the entrance and better lit further in; one should be able to see the lighted opening to daylight before stumbling out into it.
I wish they would come back. After finding a few random ones on my own I went to all 30 sites listed by Dulfy but only have credit for 29, so clearly I missed one. I want to try again (I went to them a second time and didn’t spot the missing one, being able to de-sparkle them once more would help to track that).
Huh, I thought I’d be in the top end but I’m at 4,031 hours 11 mins over 685 days, 1,447 hours 50 mins of that on my RP/LS main. That’s with 13 80s and a ton of RP time, mostly played in the evenings after work and on weekends.
Gobhoblin, not only is that an awesome look, you did a glorious presentation of it. I miss my old Photoshop … as it is I won’t even be able to do the fancy new Mix + 6 Origins style people are rocking now. I should get some current shots up, though.
While that will help with your WvW issue, it will do little for the RP situation and absolutely nothing for the megaserver splitting servers up issue that is the focus of this thread.
RP isn’t done in mass groups of hundreds of people. It’s done situationally in the local setting and preferably only those in realistic hearing/seeing distance of the action will be involved. Get as many as 20 people in for a party/wedding/adventure RP and the spam becomes very hard to process; it won’t work with hundreds all posting as fast as they can. So a server-wide team chat would work to coordinate RP, maybe, letting people hook up with others wanting to do a scene, but would fail miserably as a storytelling medium.
Which assumes you’re in a server instance that has enough RPers in it to survive the trolls and griefers anyway.
You could go look at guildwars2roleplayers.com and rummage in the guilds section there. You’d have to have some interest in RP, but many RP guilds have been around since before launch and tend to have people who like to work together to build the game experience.
I wonder if the Tengu -are- experiencing it. They have no reason to have waypoints, do they?
Though hmm, there are Tengu traders in the world. They could have set up something via closely controlled interaction with the Asura.
Heh, recently I’ve seen a few posters using “resin” instead of “reason.” But in the context of Mordremoth and vines, I’ve found that mistake more amusing than annoying, as I enjoy puns.
Someone else will have to answer the technical part of that but let me ask you if by “program” you mean something that will work the TP for you? I’m pretty sure using a third party program for that is a bannable offense, though there are some API exceptions.

I don’t fuss over every little typo and error people make on forums, I promise. But this one has grown to pet peeve levels.
Most are typing it correctly as “ley” which has been the spelling in pretty much every fantasy novel ever. A few persist in using “lay” despite the “ley” version being what’s in the game.

Glad to get that off my chest. As noted in the title, it’s a very minor concern.
How much do you need them to drop? Two days ago I bought each weight at under 5 gold per piece. Don’t stop at the search screen, it’s reporting over 200 gold for the medium mask, but if you actually click on the item to see the listing it’s under 5 as I said.
Something more to consider… while these Elder Dragons are potentially mobile, they haven’t been except for Kral. So long as the story stays focused on the dragons, there’s no reason to leave Tyria for Cantha or Elona.
A fair point for game development purposes. However, as I understand it the Elder Dragons are a world-wide thing affecting Tyria-the-world not just Tyria-the-continent. Mighty convenient if they all decide to pounce on our corner of the land where we’ve been building up against them … it’s like every villain always attacking New York City/Gotham just because the comic publishers are based there.

DaoC had night that got dark enough to need torches, and they had a hotkey “torch” toggle, no equipment/inventory slot needed. You’d make a pool of light around you that everyone else could see. In the Realm v. Realm areas it was a tossup – be able to see the terrain, or be hidden from the gank squads?
Allegedly there’s a map (who knows where that is?) that’s tracking the vine spread – we could use that to test the hypothesis.
Check the thread on “What is that vine doing to that waypoint?” Currently bottom of page 3, someone’s kindly put up a map of affected waypoints.
Hmm, I think you’re right. I just processed the new UI in my head to be a fancy-schmancy way of doing the same thing I’ve done all these years. Though once the UI pops up it’s pretty obvious how to open the chests, and you can in fact do repeated openings without closing the UI.
