As to that other game, they have not yet implemented the feature but are working on it. I am hoping it gets implemented soon as thus far it’s essentially been single player with a chatroom guild for me. My RP continues to be in GW2, albeit mostly in instances or even in AIM or forum chat …

But that’s about all I am doing in GW2 now, beyond some dailies or occasional dungeons with my guild. I don’t have the drive to advance that I did before the patch.

For some reason my Embroidered Pants ended up as a Circlet after the patch.

They deliberately left it out and created the TP instead, to reduce scamming. If you trade on the honor system then it’s on you if the other person cheats you.

Akari Storm is right, they just become a sub-locker and you can swap freely between them in the outfit tab; learn the outfit on one alt, all the alts have it. Though any dye scheme you’ve saved gets wiped if you swap to another outfit.

I didn’t think you even -could- remove them from the locker once they are outfit skins. I suggest you submit a ticket so ANet can look directly at what you did and help unravel it.

Making another account that also is an admin isn’t a big deal, if you’re the only one using the machine. Other than the aforementioned annoyance of not having things set up, and having to make sure both are logged off before shutdown, anyway. It’s just a second platform from which to launch the game.

Before I moved to the new computer I used my main admin account most of the time, but if I expected to use the TP I used the second account. It was not a perfect solution but it was better than clogging my bags with loot I couldn’t sell.

Three stones do make one crystal. Just double click your stacks, they’ll become the new charges. Charges don’t use inventory space.

There’s a thread from yesterday about the key over in the Black Lion forums. People have been posting the items they got in their chest. Worst: 3 swim boosters (though some debate if that’s even possible). Best: Permanent TP Express.

I’ve been happy with mine, because of the convenience. It’d be -more- convenient if they didn’t have to be swapped around. I tend to put them on the alt currently running around in PvE the most, typically the one I’m leveling. For some lazy reason my current guy has a pick and axe but not a sickle and it makes me cautious in gathering herbs. I really should shuffle a sickle to him — the gathering is so much faster with the Consortium, one whack and you’re good, no kneeling for hours while mobs leap on you.

In fact I’d say that is a hidden savings in the Consortium sickle, time being money. It takes noticeably less time per node with it.

I had a miserable week of this happening to me, with Support doing their level best to come up with answers every day. The solution was to make a new Win7 account and start the game from that one, as apparently something had gotten corrupted in my registry. It was a royal pain since all my settings and programs had to be redone. But at least the TP loaded!

And it finally got me off my rear to order the new computer I’d been mulling for a year, being the final straw.

The 3 swim boosters could have been extreme RNG. I’ll note that my freebies were (as listed above) 1 wxp booster and 3 unidentified dyes — but I didn’t say before, as it didn’t seem relevant, that the dyes came in 2 drops, a 2 dye and a 1 dye. So I did get a double item. Triple could happen?

All through the history of the game I’ve had the F key occasionally fail when trying to rez a downed player, but not for anything else. (It’s frustrating to be trying to help the player and they must be thinking “that jerk, standing right by me, why not help?”). Even clicking the F-field on the UI won’t activate it.

However just today in dungeons I found the opposite problem: sometimes my area loot key wouldn’t open a chest but my F key still did. I had to hit both in succession to make sure I was getting all the stuff.

Are you sure? I have no interest in the helm so I’m not buying one to check, but the preview in the Gem Store window uses my current helm colors.

Dulfy has a guide to finding the skins; she offers two methods, one cheaper than the other. I don’t know if you are referring to unlock method or to finding them in the first place, though.

Make sure to compare the cost of the extractor with the cost of just buying a new rune. I am given to understand the extractor is overpriced in most cases.

Not interested in doing it again (say no to multiple copies of WvW maps), extraordinarily unlikely ever to make a legendary.

I like the way you think. I’d love to end the “suppression” mechanic for guild/friends lists while blocking all others.

Though there would have to be some care taken to make sure suppression affects your followers that you haven’t guilded or friended yourself. Or the spammers would merely friend you and then boom, be in your space again. And for added sophistication, it should allow someone to whisper you if you whisper them first, so you can still help folks out in the zone with their questions or need to portal a JP or whatever. If both have the filter on? Arrange in Map to drop it for a moment, or even to friend each other on a temporary basis.

Heck, add a “temporary friends” tab for these brief pairings, let us set a time limit after which the person is gone again, and give a pop up acceptance for Temp Friending so you only get the ones trying to help you (and add in a toggle to disable Temps so you don’t get spammed with boxes until you want) … yeah, I’m dreaming.

Why not apply them to low level white gear then salvage that?

I’m not sure as I never bother to cancel, but I think the Escape key works.

This is a nice idea. However, given how we’ve been asking for custom chat channels (and colors) since launch, I don’t see them doing any QoL chat improvements soon. If ever.

I was actually wondering this morning if Achieve chests have been tweaked now that there is not PvP gear. I have the Rubric skirt thanks to an Achieve chest some time ago, and the top is a PS reward so I have that. Not sure on the shoulders — but if the Achieve chests still drop a pile of random skins, you might get lucky?

Yes, it’s just there have been bugs and they disabled the trader. No word on how long, but it’s been all day.

Did you have them in your bags when you went to the trader? I’m puzzled because I swapped out all my town clothes items without any problem right after the patch. Though this sort of thing might be why they disabled the trader today.

Bear in mind that right now they are still free to apply to an item, and doing so will also unlock them. If you straight up send them to the vault, even your first use will require a charge. On the other hand, you’ll have that many more open bank slots.

It could be that you had the roses equipped in your toy slot, so they won’t show until the armorsmith is working for you to do your conversion. I don’t think any of my items disappeared, though I did the login, conversion, skin unlock, and Mists visit of 13 alts right after the patch … tedious but at least it was while things were working.

Anyway, equipped town clothes and toys are “gone” until you see the trader.

If it’s on a character, you go to the Black Lion Armor Trader at a city’s TP and s/he will convert the items to the new versions.

However, at this very moment that service is disabled (see announcement in the News section). So you’ll have to wait.

Yes, I did. The dyes do stick so long as that is my equipped Outfit, even if I toggle it off to show armor then return to the Outfit. But woe betide me if I decide to put on a different Outfit and dye it, then go back to the first one. The dyes are returned to default.

Others have mentioned this in the feedback threads. I figured it’s got to be a bug, hence I posted it here.

I haven’t checked post patch. But I usually run in and down the ramps from the asura NPC when the boss isn’t up. I don’t believe I’ve ever tried a hop from the vista.

Grace, I think you sidestepped MrAwesome’s point. He (I assume, because “Mister”) has a skin, perhaps the Gas Mask. It can’t be worn without applying to an item. It’s free to apply one time, which unlocks it for alts.

However, if he clears inventory before deciding which alt gets the free charge, and sends the skin straight to the vault, he no longer gets that free application.

Quite right, MrAwesome. I have declined to send anything to the vault, even the skins for which I have no immediate use, because I have 52 such skins not yet assigned and 52 charges is not to be sneezed at. I’ll be willing to actually use them now that they aren’t committed to only one alt (or at least only one armor weight) forever, but I still have to wait for the right moment since I still have to clog my bags with items and get high-stat gear for some skins so I can swap around quickly without burning charges.

It might be that new guild puzzle location … is it in SW Diessa? I’m not sure … but there is a guild puzzle that counts as a white area and perhaps didn’t get on the wiki. You have to not only get the waypoint for the puzzle but push far in amongst the ghosts iirc.

I posted before/after patch pics. The first one, I just HATE that hat. I’m willing to forgive that though, since I can still dye it (even if I can’t dye the pieces separately >.<) and my back item now shows up with the outfit. I really wish I could still mix up the pieces, but eh.

You can toggle the hat off. Click on the armor head toggle. It does a global helm toggle so you will have to toggle it back on to show your regular armor helm if you switch off the outfit, but you don’t have to have that hat showing if you don’t want it.

If you mean the 5 free ones, you needed to go to the gem store Promotions tab and “buy” the 5 charges there for 0 gems.

Could it have been a ranger’s pet? The ranger could be in a guild with the tag [WW] and have named the owl or raven or whatever “Walter White.” Pets show up with the chosen name and the ranger’s tag.

Trying to make the best of a bad thing I dyed a few outfits to colors vaguely acceptable last night. Then I learned that if I swapped to another outfit, and returned to the one I’d dyed, it had gone back to default colors.

This could be due to it “reloading” the skin each time it’s selected, but I sure hope it’s an unintended effect. It takes a while to get just the right mix of hues in just the right channels. Who on earth wants to do that every single time they swap their appearance?

I did not test if an equipped outfit lost anything on relog, as it was late at night and I was just trying to get on all my alts and update their wardrobes and dyes and WXP. But surely the intended design is that we apply dyes and the system remembers those dyes on that outfit on that character until we change the colors? No matter how often we change our gear around?

It was supposed to reset. They announced that they’d be resetting with the patch, and then it was only 2 achieves needed to complete it. I believe the bug is with those who did 2/2 and don’t now have the option to do 4/4 in the remainder of the month.

Normally I let forum negativity wash over and past me but all the concerns in this thread are alarmingly well-founded. However, one note of hope: When overflows were first implemented they had many of the same issues with splitting people up despite being in the same guild and party, and at first there wasn’t even a “join in X” option. So they did fix that to a mostly reliable system, and therefore might very well do the same here.

However, if this enforced diaspora continues too long (by which I mean a week, maybe two weeks, definitely a month or two), the damage will have been done to too many stories. It’s like suddenly building a wall through the middle of a city with armed guards to prevent travel between the two halves, and not removing the wall for decades. You can’t really expect all the split up friends to just pick up the pieces like nothing happened.

I’m somewhat insulated because most of my RP is in one guild, and we’ve been doing more and more text-RP outside the game simply because it’s so hard to make things work in game. But I have to get in game, experience the world, and advance my characters, or I’m not invested in the world. I RP’d strongly for 7 years in WoW. I’d still be there if GW2 hadn’t become a vastly superior game for me. And I raided, got BiS gear, ground out dailies, the works. Here I’ve RPd since before beta, made 12 or 13 80’s (I’ve lost count), done all the LS, all the dungeons, bought most every RP item from the gem store along with dye packs.

RP is what fuels me for the long term, though. Even the stories I’m not part of but hear going on around me — those make the world live and breathe. With this scattering, the world can’t breathe.

I’ve felt this to be a mature game full of nice people. Apparently, that’s because the trolls and griefers couldn’t get a purchase when everyone around them laughs derisively and blocks them without getting upset. Now it seems they are going to outnumber the storytellers and vandalize us with impunity, and they are far more legion than I realized.

Sorry, ANet. I’ve defended you a long time. Yet I have to agree with others in this thread. This was poorly done and might be the death knell of this game for me. You always seemed to want the game to be fun for everyone. Where’s the fun in losing our clothing and being tossed to the trolls?

I’ve been experimenting with outfits to see if I can stomach them. Apparently the dye scheme you apply to them is not saved when you swap away from them.

Either I’m missing some step that locks in the dye, or they’re even more clumsy and useless than they appear because why the heck would I want to have to carefully find all the dyes again once I have the outfit looking how I want?

As to tonics, one or two of them are barely acceptable (country lace comes out ok on my human mesmer, if in far duller colors than I’d prefer), but they really aren’t doing what the original cash purchase bought me. And I’ve bought almost all the town clothes, sometimes multiples.

I’ll be trying to sort extra crap into one part of my bank so I can total up what’s become useless or duplicative. Hopefully there isn’t a short-term deadline on refunds, because I want to think very carefully about this, and possibly get some dev straight up info on whether the items will in the future be swappable for new look-alikes that are mix and match and dyeable. Because the one thing worse you could do to my costume collection than this change is to later on make it useful again but refuse to replace items I no longer have.

Sonia, they said not to ask for refunds on dyes until May 12 because they are automatically giving us gem store dyes that we have duplicates learned on our alts, and that process will take until then.

For clothing, you can submit the ticket even before the patch. If you’re that sure the replacement Outfits/Tonics will be flat out unusable, anyway. Me, I’m waiting to see how they work before I give up all my fancy country shirts and vests, as maaaaybe they’ll restore them in the future and then what do I do? Say "Yeah, you gave me a bunch of gems back for those, but now I want those things back without spending more gems??

Ok, I think I found the base face and hair. I am going with the eyes having deep eye shadow — you might also want the face lower left in this particular image, as it tends to make beautiful rather than insipid faces. Skin tone I waffled between the one shown and one lighter shade to the left. I didn’t play with sliders at all, you’d want to modify those to suit your intended feel.

Right now you can in PvE, by transmuting onto white items then onto the desired stat item on the new alt. The question is whether the skin will now auto-detect your Order and deny you the mix and match.

Since they are perfectly willing to reduce mix and match options, it seems, this is a valid fear.

I’m curious as well. I have a look planned for my Mesmer when he’s in action mode and it requires mixing Whispers and Vigil.

This isn’t a new game launch. I’m sure the employees at ANet would like to be asleep at midnight.

I’ve seen the “RP clogs up Map Chat” comment a few too many times of late.

RP doesn’t generally use Map chat. You want to be part of the world but only part of the immediate area. Using Map to RP would be like having your quiet lunch time conversation filmed for live broadcast on a giant screen in Times Square. Along with everyone else’s lunches, all jumbled together in a mass of gibberish.

Nor would custom channels be necessarily used to RP in. That just has people standing around silently, occasionally taking a step forward or back to avoid getting timed out, and at that point we might as well be in some text medium like MoPad or AIM or Skype.

However, they would be amazing for coordinating groups who aren’t all in the same guild or for letting guild alliances chat together. They would allow large scale organization of RP or other events.

/Team is essentially /Map, just focused on the hundreds on one side of PvP. /Squad requires someone to have a commander tag, put it on, and get people to get close enough to click him/her to join. /Party is all of 5 people.

Custom channels have been in most MMO’s I’ve played. They seem a no-brainer let’s-have-it feature.

Of course then they’d have to either assign colors, or let us have custom colors as well. Which they really should do. That grey emote text is painful. After 2 years of it (it started in beta) and constant complaints about it, this is the one point where I feel like the devs are deliberately making something unfun since a color tweak would have to be about the easiest change to the game they could ever make …
