You should be able to filter by guild using the top drop down menu.

They did actually do this with the Kessex stuff. There weren’t notes, players found the new camp and the weird miasma in the lake, the chopped down trees, etc. I loved it!

However, I don’t think they should do a -complete- surprise out of the blue. At the very least they should let us know something’s happening on a particular day so people can plan to be in game. Patch day works for this, come to think of it. We know patches are coming. So they could do something big and unannounced on one of those days.

Which would hose me, since patches are Tuesdays and that’s the day I almost never can play, but would help all the people who make a point of playing when new builds are coming.

Jazzllanna, try the AC pants, they almost work with the top. I didn’t check the Aether skirt as that’s not this alt’s style.

I was sort of meh about it until I previewed it with different dyes. Now I have the coat and skirt, with AC boots to hide the thighs thus (though I haven’t swum in it, you have me worried, TheAgedGnome):

I would guess it’s more likely you had a combination of a server gathering boost from WvW bonuses and a string of “crits” under the boost.

Do dailies mixed with personal story and collect waypoints, as the latter give the biggest hunk of exploration RP. Stop by any events you see going on to help them get done.

I find I get a level out of each set of dailies, so that’s one a day right there.

I believe that event skins gained in any manner other than via the Black Lion vendor are not tradeable. Others have run into similar issues with some Jade weapons, for instance, and those came out around the time the vendors appeared.

Hey, question on the time for these — you said an hour past reset, but reset is an hour earlier by the clock now, ie at 7 eastern/4 pacific. So will you be starting at 8 or 9 eastern?

Not if you go in from that side and dive down right away. It isn’t active there.

Originally dyes were account bound and untradeable. Then they were swapped to tradeable but soulbound on use. I can understand the reasoning behind this. However, a lot of the game has moved on to account binding so as to give the player greater flexibility in alt choice for individual tasks.

Still, I’d hate to gain account dyes at the cost of never being able to give any to my friends or toss extras on the TP. What if we went a middle ground, making dyes transferable between alts? You could still only use it on one character at a time. There could be a cost inherent in the swap to prevent just swapping it around as you relog (which would quickly become an annoying QoL issue). Maybe a gold per swap, to make it better to buy another copy of the dye unless it’s one of the very pricy ones. Maybe a gem store consumable used up for each transfer.

I don’t know that I’d use this feature much myself, I tend to weigh very carefully which alt gets what color and they don’t get valuable dyes until I am invested in their story. But for those who feel stuck playing a character that no longer excites them merely because they’ve invested too much customization into that alt, this might be a real boon.

If it were based on gem purchases and being positive, I imagine I’d have all the precursors ever …. I have been very profligate with my gems. Then again I don’t Forge. And until the MF change I didn’t MF.

I had a guildie get the Moot’s precursor from a spider in AC. A little tiny trash spider that most people skip in the Traps path — but our group wasn’t speed clearing, we killed them because why not, and boom, precursor. Me, I’ve just had some lucky dye drops so long as I opened the dyes with lower level characters. My main seldom gets anything out of RNG.

It took me a while to realize it wasn’t one of my cats as well. Very well done, I really like how the hallucinations work in this event. Audio in this game doesn’t get a lot of shout outs but that may be because it blends in so well to draw you into the world that you don’t think about what they had to do in the studio. It’s like a good movie soundtrack that enfolds you to the point you don’t remember it’s there, it just guides your mood as you watch.

Before you buy two whole sets of armor to merge into one set with the looks and stats you want, follow what Mystic Starfish says. Each of the dungeon vendors has 3 sets of the same skins, with different stats. You have to scroll down to see the other two sets. You might find CoF gear you like as-is.

There are a few threads on this. A few people, myself included, got stuck at 23/24 but fixed it by revisiting ALL the obelisks on an alt and making very sure to have no aggro during the whole channel. For me it was the 24th one re-done that triggered the achieve, and someone else posted the same thing.

I don’t like the music at all (I’m a classical/folk listener by choice) but I’d still like to see if the soundcloud music is the same as the trailer, and it asks me if I’m not logged in when I click the link provided above. Also I have friends considering entering the contest, so for their sake, was the piece removed? Or is some sort of registration and login needed to even hear and load it?

To confirm this, I recently got a birthday gift on a newer alt when I got the first 5 on or about August 28th. But if you need the slot for a new character, holding out for a booster, a mini, and a scroll of leveling seems a bit overkill.

A slightly tedious way to do it but guaranteed to show you how the hues will look on -your- gear (since it varies with fabric and texture, a rich hue on one armor is a dull grey on another) is to search the TP. Type “Dye” in the search field, then preview each one in order and write down the ones you like (or just buy them if you can afford to — many are in the 1 silver range).

If you preview 4 times you will fill up all four channels in the preview window with that dye. You can preview other armor from your inventory as well without deleting the dye fields. You can un-preview any dye or armor piece by right clicking it in the window, thus not having to clear the whole thing. If you un-preview one dye slot with the others filled, that is the slot that will fill with the next dye previewed.

I confess that when I do this I run out of steam by 2/3 through the alphabet, so sometimes I click to filter by name in reverse and run through them from Z to A. I had to do the long slog on my male vari T2 armor because of a skin tone issue that puts an ugly brown splotch in the middle and I had to find colors that would blend into.

You won’t find a cape at all. The Phoenix light armor has a vague resemblance to that bodice and skirt. With a weapon, you’re in luck, that’s pretty much the Hero’s greatsword, which comes in PS. So likely you’ll need a Mesmer.

From your thread title I wasn’t sure if you meant a large basket hilted sword or an explosive device. I wasn’t expecting an anime woman

Well, you can toggle off map, say, and emote chat in the chat box so unless the kids know how to check the boxes back on, they won’t see chat. Also you could make it a condition of play that they not check the boxes (and so long as you can see the monitor, you can easily see if chat is scrolling in the lower left chat box and if any chat tabs have been added).

I haven’t found chat all that onerous, though I’m hardly a kid any more. Then again I am on an RP server and only look at Map to find out where large things are happening, otherwise I’m just in guild, and I avoid the DR bank area if I have any interest in watching chat go by.

I think the ten year old can likely handle warrior, guardian, and ranger, with warrior the simplest. I don’t think you’ll find anything that works with only two buttons, there just aren’t fights where one can stand still and fire off spells.

Probably you should play a while, get a feel for the game, and decide if it’s in the boys’ skill range both physically and mentally. I’m trying to remember what I was playing with when I was ten … Pong hadn’t come out yet, so I believe it was board games, dolls, and let’s pretend. Along with tree climbing, roller skating (not in-line skates) … mostly I just read a ton of fantasy and science fiction. Book reading is a great way to pass time entertainingly!

I’m with the others, the shoulders are just ridiculous. For the rest you have a good combination even if it’s not to everyone’s taste; it at least looks like something a Tyrian fighter would wear. You can play with the dyes and change them up all you want to go for grittier or shinier as desired.

Ascalon Heavy armor likewise has very limited dye channels, just two colors on the Medium coat. I’d appreciate a pass over all the one-dye armors in the game to see if a second channel could be added, and more channels on the specialty armors that cost a lot of tokens or the like.

I know this would take time, the dev’s most valuable resource. Still, it’s worth asking (the Sylvari armors got a revamp, after all).

What JustTrogdor means is you split it in inventory first. You do so by holding down the Alt key and dragging your inventory stack to an empty inventory slot. A little popup window will ask you how many you want to split, with the default being one half the stack. Type in the number you want to send to your friend, you will get a stack of exactly that number. Then mail that.

I have a Norn named Altdragg Splitstack specifically as a mnemonic for how to do this.

A work around is to buy crab meat on the TP and bring it to the heart quaggan. I don’t know exactly how many pieces you need, I accidentally bought 100 rather than 50. It’s pretty cheap, though, so it should be doable. If you don’t want to buy your way in, you can farm crabs in other maps for the meat.

Heck, if any of you are so new to the game that 2 silver is a burden (and I do remember when I had to scrape up 10 silver for my first training manual), ask me in game if I’m on and I’ll send crab meat for you for that heart.

I redid them all on an alt. Bizarrely, the middle south one in Gendarran worked and gave me my 24; I am nigh certain I got it on my first go. And … of -course- it was the 24th one I visited on my second tour of them all.

That link doesn’t work. However, if it’s a concept piece showing Light armor, I’m willing to bet that you are talking about the corset with little spikes pointing down around the hips. That is not available in game at all. Countess Anise (head of the Shining Blade, Queen Jennah’s right hand woman) wears it.

I think I’m missing something. Where is this 10 coming from? I got todays Tower Daily after killing 3 champions, and without moving. I just waited at the waypoint south of Marjory for the champion event to spawn three times. It took about an hour total.

The daily only needs three, but the meta achieve needs quite a few more. I got the daily done by roaming Queensdale with the (well, with a) zerg. Unfortunately there were three different groups going around yesterday so it was hard to reliably find a living champ to attack, let alone an infected one. Hurrah for a weekend and a lot more time to work on the 23/24 issue along with this achieve.

Huh, I thought it was intended that we get a mask each time, so I stuck on one character rather than relogging. I got 3 masks with him, and want more — I have 12 alts, after all, and the masks are one-shots unless I spend transmutes.

Unfortunately, it’s past my bedtime and the Mad King Says will be gone before I get home from work, so those 3 are it. At least I can do one of each armor weight and put them on lowbie things to share amongst my alts. I am very happy the bug happened that let me do that, because if I’d only gotten bags I wouldn’t have had time to do another run of MKS on an alt.

There are 4 red circles on her Mount Maelstrom map. Try clearing your cache or refreshing the page or something, maybe?

I went to every red circle on Dulfy, though I didn’t look at her guide until I’d found the six in Kessex and Caledon on my own. I wanted to find them all myself but I had guildies waiting on me to RP and time became a factor. Alas, I hit 23/24 and stuck. I’ll go back on another alt tomorrow night, I think, when I don’t have to get up at 6:30 in the morning the next day.

Aerlen has a point. Still, if a story’s to have impact, it needs to affect things we care about. Kessex is one of my always-100% on all characters. So seeing it wrecked hits me harder than if, say, far north Ascalon areas got mangled.

Hey all! Don’t forget that this Saturday night the clocks get set back one hour in most of the US.

The reason this matters to us GW2ers is that the daily reset time does -not- change. That is, if you are on Eastern time and used to an 8 pm reset, be aware that as of this Sunday and until the clocks go forward in the spring your personal clocks will read 7 pm at reset.

However, Pacific time -will- change. Therefore any announced times of live streams will be at the Pacific time specified, though if you are not in time change area you will want to add an extra hour to your own clock time when calculating when to start watching the stream.

edit: To allow for people who don’t look at dates of OP’s, this Saturday will be Nov 2, 2013. The changed reset time will take effect Nov 3, 2013.

Yes, that’s been there all along. I always like to pause and admire it and wish there were more of it in the world.

Also, Sylvari culture tends to draw heavily on old Arthurian chivalric mythos. You can’t get much more self-righteous than a Valiant given a quest by the Dream to go right a great wrong in the world. I love my Sylvari Guardian! For background, you should go with the Green Knight to really get the chivalric traditional feel (hopefully you know the original Green Knight story).

There is nothing wrong with the Human Noble story for that feel, either. It’s all in how you play the character. My second guardian is human commoner, and he’s a selfish moocher who developed his guardian skills to keep his own hide intact -laughs-. But he could just as easily have been someone who enlisted in the Seraph to protect and defend, maybe been a “good cop” on the Commons beat.

I have a Bloody Prince Staff to keep for myself or maaaybe sell later if it doesn’t suit any of my alts. And I have another claim ticket to spend. I predicted very poorly on the Zodiacs in a similar circumstance. Of the remaining skins, I am most amused by the Silly Scimitar, but it’s selling for less plus I’d never ICly equip it. So ..

One) Does anyone have an educated guess on which skin is likely to sell best in a month or so?

Two) How long will the 1-ticket price hold for this set? Through this Tuesday, or the next?

Mesmer with GS and scepter/pistol, maybe? With the GS you do more damage the further away you are. Plus Mesmer is way fun.

Tarnished Coast should fit the bill for you. Be advised it is the unofficial NA RP server, selected by thousands of RPers back in beta (likely why it has such an ongoing vibrant community, imo). So please be respectful of the RPers you see and don’t do unimaginative things like dancing nude in the middle of conversational groups or mocking us as lame losers.

You don’t have to RP if you don’t want to. Just don’t disrupt the social lives of those who do. I’m not assuming you would, of course! You sound like a nice person.

Though if you make a Light wearer, and want the Cabalist look right away, you can buy a higher level item and use transmutation to put it on your lower stuff. You get 3 transmute stones for each city you finish exploring. Over time you’ll have all of those stones you ever need, without needing to buy any on the TP. You don’t need the rarer transmute crystals until you are working with level 80 items.

I like the bar a lot. Quick and easy to see the whole requirement at a glance as well as precisely where you are in your progress.

I would totally buy that, even as is without production glossing up. Add in the TShirts they had people vote on designs for before launch and my Christmas would be set.

I’d like the visual versatility of a back sheath option. It’s handy to have weapons at the hip when previewing chest piece armor skins, though.

Shades, hurrah for aesthetics over practicality, but unless I’m very much mistaken you run slower with weapons in hand than sheathed. So I think you’re slowing down your mobility.

Wonderful idea. As a bonus, give us a go-back feature so after we make the ingredient item we can go back to the main thing we’re trying to make, then bring up the next ingredient to make, and so forth.

An option would be fine but I enjoy having my anger-issues street rat warrior visibly simmering with rage. I can even deactivate the signet in RP in those rare times when she’s calm as an added emotional indicator.

When choosing a new armor piece or skin, you can preview it and then preview dyes to see how it will look in different colors. However, the source of dye preview is either from a dye in inventory or one off the TP.

It would be nice if the unlocked dyes in the hero panel had a preview option that went to the preview window rather than the hero panel image. Thus you could quickly see how your already known dyes would look on the new armor without having to find them from over 400 on the TP.

I’d like to be able to preview with dyes I have unlocked, come to think of it. That would save time and effort as right now I have to find the dye on the TP because the only preview of known dyes is by applying them in the hero panel on the current gear.

The game mail should have a Show Me button at the bottom. Clicking that opens the map and pans you to the location mentioned.
