I did a Scarlet invasion in Gendarren last night and ended up with 3 pieces out of that. With previous drops and buying one or two, I have all of 2 keys now after several days of play. shrugs I’ll make sure to get 3 more before I go into the dungeon.

They did, I’ve made two alts since then and both got the 2 week version.

I don’t know how it works, but my guild had an EU player move to join us on NA without ever RL moving, then he transferred back for time zone reasons. So I know it can be done.

Thanks, urieldhynne, much appreciated. Lyssa turns out to have worked because the Balth runes are darn cheap on TP, and I happened on a Lyssa temple opening as I started grabbing waypoints.

My guardian should be set for what he needs to do for a while.

Given that I mentioned stat issues, no, I don’t care only about the runes. Why level a second guardian? Because he’s got a different personality and story from my first one and leveling him’s been a blast. I’m not building a “bad gear” to save money, I’m just not spending all my resources -including time- on getting the perfect mix of gear for a character that won’t be my go-to for dungeons or world events.

I hope that makes it even more clear what I’m asking. To wit: Assuming I am tossing a Temple set on this alt, and want him to do well with GS, which Temple set will do the most good out of that subset of gear available in the game. I am aware there are many other options out there, I was only looking for advice on how to pick a cheap fast exotic set and then maybe upgrade it later on when I feel like it.

I’ve just hit 80 on my second Guardian. My first one is geared and all about defense and healing/support. This one is more into mixing it up in the fights. While I hardly want to min/max, especially as he’s mostly for RP purposes, I’d like to pick up a Temple set that suits a GS/Staff fighting Guardian. I would prefer all one Temple set (again, I know that’s not going to min/max him, but he is -not- my resource focus for gear).

Assuming I keep all 6 runes from the set, Balthazar looks good other than being a bit low on Condition Damage. Melandru costs me dearly in Precision and Condition Damage. Whispering — which I always seem to go for on my non-Heavies — looks good all around but not stellar in any one stat and the runes aren’t so hot for this guy.

Any suggestions? I’ll run around Orr getting Temple WPs for a bit so I can be ready to act on advice. Thanks in advance.

I only run guild parties as a rule and even then this is an issue. Not because someone’s a jerk, but because someone dc’s. With the large number of dc’s knocking people out these past days — boy was yesterday’s Teq fight on TC given extra adrenaline by wondering who would get to stay in the fight the whole time — the nicest instance host in the world with the best connection could still get booted by the game and wreck everyone’s run.

Seras is right. Anyone of the right level who hasn’t used one yet can use one. I’m sorry you spent 2 gold on it I know I bought my last GM book for 1 g 99 s 99c on the TP thanks to another making that error. 1 c savings, woo! Anyway you can either get back the lion’s share of the money by using the TP or save it for an alt. Meanwhile, go to a trainer and ask to reallocate, you’ll be reset for 3 silver or so.

It came up in the last hour. I can’t be more specific because it was during the Teq prep time and then I dc’d right after putting in a code (gems were there once I got back in, though). Thanks for the fix!

It’s been discussed ad nauseum (why is this a Question post, btw?) and it would cause issues with Personal Story. Nor would it be easy to do, that’s a lot of coding behind “adding it to the store.” The races vary in appearance and personal story only, but have all the same skills and game mechanics.

I understand not enjoying a particular race. My Charr and two Norns don’t get a lot of leveling love from me (their being my three least favorite professions may contribute). But you don’t have to delete and reroll. You should figure out by the time you’re 20 or so that you don’t actually like that race … why getting to 80 changes your mind, well, you’d need to explain that to me.

I got paranoid about how many shots I was putting in, so here are the daylight ones:

All righty! I have many shots, aimed at showing dye fields and details of the coat. If you pm me an email I can send you the raw screenshots in higher rez (uncropped). I fear that I gave up on daylight and went inside to firelight, and when that was done out I walked into daylight >< So I took some more shots. On dyes, a note (that shouldn’t matter for costuming): If you put the exact same dye on the main field and on the trim, the main field will be much darker.

I may just be super unlucky. I’m trying to find a place with daylight so I can get some good screenshots of armor for someone and I have just gone to almost every zone in the game to find nothing but nighttime with stars.

As recently as Dragonbash every zone and overflow had its own time, varying tremendously as to when dawn might come. Sure it was disorienting to zone into night from day and vice versa but now when I -want- to use that feature I’m stuck in perpetual dimness and spending a fair hunk of silver looking for sunlight.

Which makes me wonder if they stealth-synched it to further immersion.

I am hopping zone to zone looking for daylight and wondering if they have sneakily synched up time between all zones after all. Nothing but dimness. keeps trying

Darn it, Airewing. I hate grinding for gear. But you just made two of them look glorious. too bad my main Medium wearer is a man … I am drooling over female human Medium now.

You can preserve the skins by putting them on low end white items and putting those in the bank for another character to pick up (they may still say soulbound, but are actually now account bound). You cannot save the exotic stats for alts, though.

Some Vitality won’t go amiss. You have six pieces of gear, plus 2 rings and 2 accessories and a neck, and eventually a back item. I’m a big fan of not dying to incidental damage where a little more health would have saved me. Power and Precision will help you the most, yes, but until you really have the hang of dodging and other mobility, a glass cannon build will cause you aggravation.

I speak as someone whose main at launch was a thief and was waaaaay squishy. Pretty much every other profession has been a revelation to me of the joys of not dying.

I’ll see what I can do for you tomorrow, as I have just seen this and am heading to bed. I have the coat on my thief. I haven’t used the other skins from the Medium set yet as I don’t like their look so much, but I can give you loving detail on the coat.

I just hope you make something that looks like it really is the coat! I did historical costuming for years and it was a point of pride to me to use the right fabrics, have the right underthings and boning, everything to make it something someone would really have worn rather than a wrinkly cotton impression of the outfit. (I didn’t do great on my Horatio Hornblower coachman’s coat, the wool I found was too thin and too bright a blue, but otherwise my track record was pretty darn good imho).

Anyway, I love that you want to make the outfit and want to help however I can with your research.

Take your time exploring. Peer into nooks and crannies, you might find a jumping puzzle in a cave or trigger a hidden event. Read the dialogues, pay attention to NPC random commentary, you’ll have a blast. No need to rush to 80 at all.

And never mind the people unhappy with the game that do their best to make other forum readers also unhappy. If you end up unhappy let it be because it isn’t the game for you after all, not because someone got snarky. (Yes, naysayers, I do admit the game won’t please everyone. That’s fine. Just please stop dog-in-the-manger-ing about it).

I went to the Renn Fest on Saturday and stopped at the Rapunzel Braiding booth to look at photos. I’m such a GW2er … I immediately thought “we need these styles in game.” I can’t find a direct site for them but here’s someone’s braiding site full of lovely ideas:

I think this is one of the more cogent threads on this but the forum page is cluttering up with threads on the exact same thing. When they get merged it will be very hard to figure out who is replying to what, so why not select an existing “They dumped F/U” thread to state your own thoughts?

I know exactly why I failed it despite hours of effort: I turn by moving my mouse on the pad. Constant turning to the right = running out of pad. Time tolerances are too tight in the Tower to let me lift my mouse back to the left as I can in any other part of game play.

That’s on me, I’ve never mastered WASD (and on an aside, it perplexes me that the same people touting WASD laugh at keyboard turners, at least in other games). I doubt I ever will. The Tower certainly made me exponentially better at all other puzzles, though! Nowadays I use my mesmer to help JP impaired people get JP achieves on a regular basis and it feels soooo nice to have the skill to help.

So for me -personally- a revamp that has the path twist right and left would be better than a racing spiral in one direction but then it wouldn’t be the Tower any more.

It often varies. I’ve seen it fairly early in the day, and seen big ones not hit until much later. Since I always have to leave by 5:30 eastern on Tuesdays, I sure notice if the patch isn’t in until 5 pm my time!

Though maybe the federal shutdown will mean my husband comes home early and we get the grocery shopping out of the way … I can hope …

The game does recognize a number of languages in a small way. You get the exact same animation with /yes, /si, /ja, etc.

You can get maybe half a level per PS completion. Also, one nice thing about the scrolls that I discovered is that you unlock weapons at one skill per kill, so 3 to 5 kills per weapon for full unlock. I kickstarted two new characters with scrolls. The mesmer is 80 now and the guardian is low 70’s, should be 80 this week.

Not that I advocate speed leveling if one needs to learn the profession. But already having an 80 mesmer and guardian, and making these two for RP purposes, I wanted to get to the good gear and secure as many wp’s as I could so I could get to the RP locations -grins-.

You shouldn’t, a guildie of mine just changed her glow today. I changed my main vari’s hair and glow right after that glitch was fixed, and my new vari started apple red mushroom head and is now lichen green with a front comb-over. Brightest glow on both, and they shiiiiine at night.

So you -can- worry about it, but it’s not mandatory Also note that my newer vari got the makeover kit bright teal to tip her leaves, so new kit-only things didn’t bork the glow.

His game looked just as mine does. I’m on a Dell XPS Studio desktop, at least two years old, only upgraded once with a newer video card that wasn’t the best available because the best needed a bigger power supply than would fit in the case.

I’d have to research to figure out my specs, though, I’m not very techie. Still, while I picked components to support gaming, I’m not exactly on a top end gaming device and I handled the invasions on high settings without lag/fps impairment.

Otherwise, don’t worry about your NPC team, just bull forward to the Eye dealing with any aggro you personally get on the way, and focus fire on the Eye.

I’d guess the radiant gloves are reflecting on the armor. Some metals get very shiny given a light source; they aren’t glowing as such, though.

Check the wiki on the Mystic Forge for recipes. There are a number of guaranteed results such as the Infinite Light sword, or Feasts of types of food. When putting in four random items RNG is going to suck — I also pretty much only ever get one item of the same type, thus losing 3/4 of my vendor silver, and therefore I almost never use the Forge — but it’s the only way to get Mystic Clovers (needed for a Legendary) and there are chances of getting precursors from 4 exotic weapons dropped in. Miniscule chances, but chances.

Be very careful not to hit transfer instead. That’s an expensive error.

I have player music turned most of the way up but during Teq prep a charr was standing by me with music notes pouring out of his boom box and I couldn’t hear a thing. I haven’t bought either box because I want to know what it sounds like before I spend the gems.

I recall a post on this from many months ago. If only the forum search were working! Not that I remember any key phrases from the thread by now. My vague recollection of the thread consensus was that it was an “artist’s signature” — the symbol on the coin is the same layout you see in the Sharkmaw JP start area.

I don’t think any of the gem shop armors have lookalikes in game. If you want a subtle glove effect (without claws, sorry) take a look at Embroidered. They are a nice little lace net over the hands with a couple of dye fields, leaving the fingers bare.

Also you can work on gathering the mats for a bit longer, there not being any order in which you have to get things together, since sometime soon™ there will be a way to craft precursors. We hope. Thus you can make progress while holding off on the big investment.

You sure can. I had T2 Cultural on my vari necro from her early levels. The only restriction is that if one of the things being transmuted is 80, you must use a crystal; otherwise a stone will do. Once it is transmuted to low end gear, you can re-transmute all the way back up to 80 as you get new stat gear, using a crystal again once you have 80 stat gear.

An interesting side effect: If you don’t want stats, just a costume, you can put the skin on a blue or white item and alts can wear it so long as they can wear that type of armor.

It’s not the level, it’s the unlocked skins and dyes and waypoints. Me, I don’t delete anything I’ve put that kind of time into, I might want it later (I’m a total packrat that needs bank inventory interventions from friends, though). Unless you really need that character slot for something else, I’d keep it in case your tastes change again.

You might want to guest to a server doing Orr temples. Yesterday on TC I got in on Dwayna and Lyssa openings when a guildie said they were happening, and she’s been doing a lot of them for the dragonite. That was around … 6 pm eastern? As I know better than to try to make BiS gear for myself, I’ve not been focusing on the task, so sorry I can’t give more details.

A good person’s slide into darkness can be a compelling story. However, I have yet to begin to understand how anyone gets even vaguely tempted by the Court. “We want to poison the Dream to free its slaves,” ok. But “so we are going to cause all the pain and torment and misery we can, mu ah hah hah” just doesn’t cut it.

The Inquest go to the extreme of unethical research. Fine. Bandits are robbers and villains common to the human condition, got it. Sons of Svanir have been corrupted by the dragon after getting psyched into misogyny, typical cult stuff. Flame Legion are an imbedded part of lore, the holdover villainous charr with religious overtones, sure thing.

There just isn’t that depth to the Court. They are petty sadists justifying their S&M with “being nice sucks, have a nice helping of pain, it’s for your own good, really.” Caithe choosing to become nasty just so she can cuddle with Faolain simply can’t make me suspend my disbelief.

PlagueParade, your (2) is brilliant. My character’s ICly been a melodic whistler since before beta (go go forum RP), I’d -love- him to be able to pucker up and blow.

(3) sounds like a wonderful way of getting temporary hair stylings for parties without burning a styling kit, as kits work better for long term changes.

On (4) I think they wanted to point out that Charr and Asura don’t differentiate between genders as the other races do. Plus the lack of curvy chests would make some of the tops … odd. RL I am a very flat chested woman and I’ve always had an issue with clothing cut to accommodate flesh I don’t have.

Usually when I right click an item in inventory to sell on the TP, I get that item’s sell screen with the selling options such as Match Lowest Seller. Today I and a guildie have noticed that instead it goes to Sell My Stuff and I have to then click the individual item (after scanning down the list for it) to get to the actual sell page.

Is this intentional anti botting or is it an error?

I’d think 8 JPs easier and faster than 80 vets. I’m on Tarnished Coast and I have a mesmer that has helped some JP-impaired guildies get to the tops of puzzles. Generally I lead them through the right way of doing it, using portals to correct mistakes, then if they just can’t make it all the way I do a full portal from bottom to top.

I’m logging into game within the next 30 minutes and would be glad to help. Since I’m not a jumping champion it just feels so awesome to know the puzzle well enough to get to the top and then to help someone else make it? Delight!
