Also don’t worry so much about leveling. That’s a byproduct. Enjoy the world and leveling will happen just from exploring and doing stuff.
I vaguely recall a dev post during orginal SAB that the currency would likely still be useful and he was holding onto his baubles.
Yes, by the nature of forums the upset people come to say things here. It’s refreshing to see your happiness!
This game has held me nonstop since beta. A lot of that is my great guild and rp plotlines, as always in any game, but game design that means I don’t have to fight the mechanics to play how I want and that encourages friendly cooperation? SOLD. Plus it’s jaw droppingly beautiful. I did get so tired of low-rez cartoons …
Anyway, welcome! I hope you keep on loving the game in times to come. Meanwhile, have a ton of fun.
You have been reading enough to know you will still know the Sentinel recipes, right? Those aren’t getting reset.

hahaha, you guys really think anet will willfully implement a quality of life change like this
Given all the other quality of life changes they’ve given us after player discussion and requests, and given their goal of making the game fun by removing all the impediments to fun from standard MMO play they can? Yes, I think they might.
Please give me examples, I’m still waiting for build swapping, lfg tool, more options for commander tags, guild commander tags, better guild functions and the list goes on.
I guess they did recently give us the wallet which i appreciate with the exception of the gold being all clustered together now.
Well, you get your LFG tool. I don’t have an exhaustive list off the top of my head, seeing as how so many of the QOL upgrades have become so seamless a part of play that people forget they weren’t always there. However, I’ll note TP preview and dye preview. A hotkey to toggle town clothes. Walk/run as a toggle rather than holding a key down to walk (ok, that was in beta). Buyable armor skins that can be used in combat. Achievement tracking.
I first made a human necromancer because I wanted to wear pretty cloth clothes and already had an Asura mesmer and Charr elementalist. She proved a lot of fun to RP as the cheerful woman of Grenth (very practical and salt of the earth, always good humored) and her wardrobe’s choking her inventory. Then I wanted a sylvari who could wear cultural, and elected necromancer for her. She’s very chipper in a frothy Brit way with a lot of wit. Yeah, I don’t tend to go for stereotypical necros, especially as the lore says it’s just another magic variant in Tyria.
Anyway, these are older pictures. The human’s wearing a CoE skirt nowadays, and a temple top and CM tiara. The sylvari is in T2 as seen, but the colors change with the occasion and she has T1 in reserve. She’s currently very pink/purple, I believe, and has done luminous blue green; the T1 allows for a lot of color gradients so I tweaked that all the time when it was her main combat gear.
Given that every month we get a thread like this, I suppose every month a number of people are surprised. Not everyone can play enough to knock the monthly out in the first few days.
Still, as mentioned above, there is a timer countdown on the tracker. And it always ends at reset on the last day. So while I am sorry you missed out on completion, at least you’ll know that reset on Sept 30 is your next deadline, and possibly spread the word to your friends to save them similar irritation next month.
I think you will get a set of options for stat changes, not just any mix you want. Any gear with MF in your possession will become account bound. The MF gear on the TP will no longer be on the TP, it will be returned to seller and become account bound.
All per ANet posts, I believe.
-cheers at Dulfy- I like the reformatting you did as a whole, too. I’m glad that got fixed, because the number of “we’re getting Polymock!” threads might have been out of control
Scanning through Dulfy’s coverage, it is comprehensive but not 100% complete (not that it could catch every word). The bit at the end is misleading, though. “Polymock” wasn’t the last word. When asked if there were last words, an audience member shouted “polymock” and a dev responded, “Polymock. That’s a word.”
As printed in Dulfy it could make people think a dev was making a hint at plans for Polymock.
I bet if Evon had won, they’d have mentioned Ellen as the secondary character. The vote sidelined him, not the fiendish dev conspiracy aimed at wrecking all our lives. *

An even easier site to use, it’s bare bones, is http://gw2events.ryanfield.ca/
You just click on the temple you want and you get a list of where it is open. If you are at or near that temple, you guest over to the open server and do your shopping, then port to safety before logging back to your own server.
I foolishly pushed to discover the Arah wp and -then- guest. In hindsight, I should have guested over, trotted unopposed up the steps to the wp, and been on my merry way. Instead, I had to be very lucky a nice person was willing to rez me when I made it within fifty feet of the wp before dying.
Why lololol at someone being appalled at infantile spam? It’s not a matter of being shut in. It’s a matter of being mature. Which that chat simply is not. “Everyone else does it” is no defense.
They’re on break now, returning in just over 30 minutes with an “exciting announcement.” So we haven’t seen all the reveals.
They did say you can get special Ascended Weapons out of this as well as a Tequatl mini. So it’s not just rares possible. Plus it requires coordination beyond mindlessly hacking at a dragon’s toe.
One super part of it is there is no falling damage unless you land in acid or a bottomless pit. Which makes it much more a puzzle because you can just keep trying.
I’m not a great jumper and I never even tried the Rapids, but flailing around in the Box with guildies was a ton of fun and they helped me with King Toad mostly by me hanging out above while someone solo’d him … -rolls eyes at self- Though I did actually fight him the time I achieved him.

While that would be marvelous, it’s been asked before and the answer generally is that that would let people use the TP as bank storage.
Right now what you need is a trustworthy and patient friend. Trustworthy because you need to mail the things to him/her for return to sender, thus converting it to 5 take-all items instead of a zillion. Patient because you will be suppressed after 2 or 3 mails and have to sit and wait to send the next batch.
Of course, your friend can be out doing whatever while you send, but will want to return things to unclog their mailbox. Plus if you mean LARGE amount like over 50, you’ll fill their mailbox.
Tarnished Coast is full of chat. Plus my guild RPs all the time and has an OOC guild chat with plenty of banter.
Just don’t hang out by the DR bank. It’s sort of like WoW’s Goldshire.
Interactive Maps has this page

Though if you’ve already run all over the camp there may be an issue, or you may in fact have it but can’t see the little square due to covering text.
Charged Quartz better not be an ingredient
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Donari.5237
Time gating is one thing. Gating by requiring you to do something every day or your whole time gets pushed back by that day is another.
Sure, I’m in game pretty much daily, and should be able to hop to my instance, mine some quartz, then jaunt over to the Garrison to make a charged crystal. Once it turns into a chore, though, my interest plummets. Even more so given that I have 7 80s and haven’t bothered with Ascended on any of them because I frankly don’t feel a need for microscopic boosts from BiS. Celestial has felt more bothersome to make than must have.
If the new skins are compelling enough I could see working towards crafting them. For stats? Meh. WoW lost my interest pretty much from BWE1 when I experienced a game without daily requirements. I’ve dealt with dailies for laurels because they’ve been fun, been part of regular play, and offered a good way to level alts. Now I’m out of alts I care to level. Since I get 10 dyes every 5 laurels, that will keep me going. A stat upgrade after a month of work? I have other things to do with my time!
All right, how about Mesmer? I have a guildie with a zerker build that annihilates things and can live through a lot in dungeons (she gets downed plenty, but Mesmers have leet downed skills and we pick her up again to keep on destroying stuff for us).
Even without zerker as in my two mesmers, I feel highly effective in PvE.
You won’t see it at level 10, though. A lot of the joy in most professions develops later on as you get trait/utility synergy going and figure out the weapons you most enjoy. Try going to the Mists and playing with practice dummies on various professions. You can make a level 1 and go do that to test without having to level. (maybe you must do the training to level 2? I dunno, I myself don’t really feel the need to test max skills before I’ve learned them via leveling).
Aww, Karizee, that deflated my excitement something fierce. I’d been feeling a mild anticipation buzz, like looking forward to seeing presents opened, but WvW is not in my area of play beyond minor dabbling. Woe.
To explain “Infantile Mode,” any place with dangerous jumping gets a rainbow bridge to walk over rather than doing the jumps. On the other hand, you don’t get as many rewards at the end as you would from normal mode. I don’t recall if one got any baubles on Infantile as I was only on the mode twice. If not, then you get no rewards except seeing the environment, enjoying the music, and likely an achieve for doing that mode. “Baby’s First Steps” I think was the achieve.
If you want Bauble Baubles, you have to do at least normal. On the other hand, I’m not a monster good jumper. I never beat Clocktower or Wintersday, though they made me a much better jumper for lesser JPs. I could generally follow friends through SAB and not burn TOO many coins … just don’t stand in green water. It burns.
Nanashi, I just did the Eye and Mouth attack PSes again yesterday. You’re right, the Mouth does talk to the Commander to say “Nyah nyah nyah, the bit of magic we’ll get from your death won’t replace what you wrecked,” (paraphrased), “but the Dragon will be pleased.” (direct quote). The Eyes also speak of the Dragon as a separate entity.
On the other hand, through various NPC dialogues and huge leaps of faith disguised as scientific deduction, we are told that the Dragon knows everything its minions do, that it sees via the Eyes and eats via the Mouth, that all its minions are mere extensions of its will. Though one wonders why the Risen often seem relieved to get the final killing. “Death … good …” Is there some spark of the person they once were?
Anyway, between Zhaitan-is-all-one-unit and Zhaitan-is-a-force-with-independent-lieutenants, both views are supported by what we see in game.
You can also explore the 6 cities for a boost in level. Mostly, though, you want to explore, craft, gather, work on hearts, and do any dynamic event you spot. The hearts are there to guide you to areas to level in, not to be the main course.
I’ve had plenty of fun. The only downside has been the need to watch the clock and be ready to interrupt whatever I’m doing at the top of the hour if a needed zone pops, thus not starting long PS instances etc. Once I got my 13th, that pressure was gone. And I’ve not done an invasion since! The gold income was nice but there’s a limit to how much I want to run around killing things nonstop for 45 minutes.
I really do like fighting the twisteds and aethers, actually. Something about the clanging metal sounds of beating up watchwork creatures is deeply satisfying. And the aethers do some interesting things and might drop rapiers!
TriggerSad, I’m not entirely sure anyone else can follow my example. Once or twice in the past I’ve clicked to report a post and been told it had already been reported. I think they only need one flag to get it to their attention and have already prevented the clogging you warn against. An excellent feature, imo.
I reported the OP in a good way, asking the mods to make sure the legal department sees the post and takes action.
Any time you want to see release notes, click on the GUILDWARS2.COM button at the top left of this page. You will get a list of articles/blogs as well as a changing banner at the top. If you click on the banner when it is talking about a release, you get that release page. At the top of the release page there are small boxes in a row listing previous and subsequent releases that you can go on to see their pages.
The Back to School release is at https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/september-03-2013/ — if you take out the date part at the end you get the main release page, https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/
So there are many ways to find the notes, though they are far from full patch notes. The patch notes come when the patch goes live, and can be found at
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates
Hopefully that will help you find the information in the future, as there is new stuff every 2 weeks so you will want to find it on your own rather than constantly having to ask!
PS If you go to https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum and look in the third section, Living World, you will find discussion forums for each current LS release.
I finally went through the Funhouse and re-entered the Pavilion. It’s still just the Pavilion, no Queen stuff. Though there is a lot of interesting NPC dialogue at the close of the Funhouse. I wanted to click on them all and talk to them but our party leader exited the instance before I got to anyone but Lord Faren.
Unless something unexpected happens by Monday, there doesn’t seem to actually be a Speech coming. Sadness. This is Jennah’s chance to make a stirring rallying call to all the races in the face of Scarlet’s madness.
Anyway, if you want to see the Funhouse dialogues, get in a group with people to get through the instance. You don’t have to do 6 invasions to get in as long as one party member has unlocked it.
Only three crafting disciplines raised?

I just wish those weren’t the most boring professions to raise, for me. I’ve maxed everything but Huntsman now and only recently got Weaponsmith to 400. Why? You don’t make pretty things, like with armor. You make starter-look weapons all the way through. I’m not looking forward to 100 more points of leveling chunky wood items.
I’ll try to get Huntsman done this weekend, assuming I have enough mats; I sorta used up my inscription-making stock on Weaponsmith.
There will (hopefully) always be new players joining the game. They can anticipate joining in interesting stuff down the line. Smooth Penguin made the point very well. You don’t get to the end stuff the moment you start, or you will be boooooored in minutes.
What time zone is UTC?
As of today my first made and played character still hasn’t got his gift in the mail. Of note: he’s got a Jennah, as I transferred one to him from another character. Could the game be registering him as having the award due to that?
Please let us know if you find a list or log of all invasions so far. I only need Mount Maelstrom now. I was on most of the daylight hours of this weekend and it never showed up. Once it does and Scarlet dies, I get 75 AP. Do want.
Except they can’t persist that long, the event only goes 40 minutes or so. There’s still at least a ten minute window before the top of the hour.
You also can group with someone that’s got access to the Funhouse and finish it with them. No need to do all of Vorpp’s hoops.
I’ve done most all of them solo, mostly in main. The trick is to be out in the world in main, and ready to go at the top of the hour. I favor Ebonhawke as a base camp. The moment the invasion starts, I grab a random wp anywhere in the zone and go there. Poof, I’m in main. Then I just follow the crowd.
Of course, overflows have felt just as full and successful as mains.
Try guesting to Tarnished Coast. We’re chock full of people all the time.
Farming not so much. But attending, sure. I’ve made about 3 gold per invasion after selling greens, TPing yellows, salvaging blues and selling excess mats therefrom.
Perhaps real farmers scoff at 3 gold an hour, but it’s princely income for me.
If you have two monitors, bring up
http://gw2.mmorpg-life.com/interactive-maps/
on one of them, and click on the individual zones. Then scan your in game map in comparison with the interactive map. You can check the box for pois-only if that helps, though I find it’s easier to scan if I have hearts etc visible to tell me where on the map I’m looking.
Below the map there is a list of pois by name as well. You could write those down and then look on your game map to see what you’re missing, then click on the name for a photo-guide to finding it.
Oh sorry, I was remembering getting Avenger as a human. Yah, you want to go to the sylvari cultural weapon vendors in the Grove. A bit tricky to find them, as they are inside a building on the se edge on a lower level but you can see their icons on more than one level. Anyway, they’d have the Sylvari organic weapon look. I love their T3 with the blue glass look.
Or you can look up Verdant on the TP, as the Verdant weapon set is likely what you have got ahold of there.
That dropbox link is great (I adored that login screen so much) but when I get a popup that the site is asking me to allow it to load stuff when I’m offline … eww. No. I don’t want random sites loading things I don’t approve piecemeal.
Bravo ANet! This has been a wonderful and creative year both from you and from my guild. Thank you for making a game that matches what I want in an MMO in ways I never realized I wanted until you came along. Sure, there’s more to do, we’re not yet anywhere near perfection level, but you’ve put so much heart into Tyria that I expect to be here discovering it for a long time yet.
-cheers-
My favorite thing? So many, so hard to choose. I’ll go with the preview system, especially of dyes and from TP.
I believe you must do the instance. You can join in it with others, you don’t have to spend 6 hours unlocking it yourself.
Heck, even if more race/professions are added, I value the leveling from 1 to 20 to let me see the stories, zones, and learn the skills. I did use my AP chest scroll on a character, because she was made for RP and I already had an 80 Mesmer so I knew how the profession worked. I just needed to get her up to using more clothes and able to get to more places
Now she’s 76 because mesmers are just that fun.
But for a truly new character, I would not want to skip the starting levels. Maybe later I’d want the boost once I knew how things worked.
So yeah. Nice to get a gift. A bit perplexed as to this particular gift set given the target givees.
I’ve been checking my headstart screenshots for when they were made. It does seem that a few of my final-appearance first set of characters weren’t made until the 26th. I have amusing pics of what they randomly looked like from skipping to the end and creating with the desired name so I could then delete and remake at my leisure …
Anyway, Donari was clearly made and finalized first of all, and he doesn’t have his. Two of my first five do have theirs.
I’m not uber worried. After all, I have no huge need for any of the gift items and am happy ANet has made the gesture at all. I’m just adding my bit of data to those trying to figure out the pattern of awards.
There was a daily to destroy 25 of them a couple of days ago.
