Gritty and realistic? I have a warrior who is that. She’s had a pretty limited palette from day one.
This is Gray, Taupe, Chocolate, Oil Slick, and Icing. Generally you want to go for the more muted tones, nothing neon bright or with a lot of saturation. I remember using Mushroom on her in the past as well. Generally she gets grays and browns, no true black, at most Iron or Pitch. The deeper and purer the color, the “newer” it looks on the armor. Sort your dyes by hue so you can narrow down your palette choices.
Inculpatus, you left out an explanation of the vocabulary correction.
“Liable” means “can be held accountable for,” or “is responsible/to blame for.” The liable party in an accident is the one who must pay the damages. OP, this is why s/he had to correct your word choice.
The reason you would not be eligible is that you did not buy the game in the expectation that you would have to buy it in order to be able to then apply HoT to your account, because you didn’t know about HoT at the time. A lot of people so assumed after the HoT announcement; thus when ANet let players know that it would be a one-time purchase to get the whole shebang, quite a few people felt — quite justifiably imo – like they’d been reamed. The refund is necessary to correct that issue.
Ooooh I hadn’t even thought of Bifrost. That’s been the legendary I’ve most wanted all these years, were I motivated enough to make any legendary at all.
Good thing I saved out enough unidentified dyes for it from the “sorry you had all those duplicates when we made them account wide, here’s five stacks of dye for you” time. I always thought I might want to make Bifrost.
Just gotta see what the new legendaries are to make sure none of them grab me more.
The content was free for anyone that logged in for two seconds during the weeks the chapter was live. ANet is unlikely to ever charge up front for anything smaller than an expansion.
I can help with Chapter 6 but probably not until Wednesday early afternoon (sharp cutoff at 5 pm eastern) or Thursday afternoon (must stop before daily reset time). I hope you can find folks sooner.
No one can (publicly) tell you who is honest or dishonest, that’s naming/shaming.
You give gold to other players the same way you give them anything: Mail them. Target them, right click the portrait, select Send Mail, and enter “6” in the left hand money box if you want to send 6 gold. You can only send a few mails at a time before you are suppressed but a one time transaction when entering a dungeon should be fine.
I don’t know the finer etiquette of it all as I’ve never bought or sold a path.
The people selling them, btw, are selling completed paths where you don’t have to actually do anything but show up at the end. You could just make your own party, advertising it as new player wanting a full run if you want to learn the paths. Keep in mind that some of them are very long. I think my first time in Path 4 took at least 4 hours thanks to wipes and pug rage quitters.

Given that they specifically said at the PAX South announcement of HoT that the Revenant would be there for new players to be on an equal footing with veterans in this one profession, no, they aren’t going to hand it out early.
You can work on the jungle with established alts while leveling your Revenant and your masteries will convey. Nothing says you can only play one alt for weeks.
If you quit years ago … that’s at least two years, right? So one year into the game, in which you got 1300 hours? Hmm. That works out to at least three hours a day, which would be 1095 hours. Quite a lot of in depth experience with the game, which explains your dead-on LA prediction in
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-for-rebuilding-LA/first#post5094793
And I guess you weren’t playing during Season Two despite your detailed critique of it just seven months ago in

You can select a different authentication method, eg the desktop one, and then cancel it. Hopefully they will stop reminding you once you’ve flagged as responding.
I don’t know why you’re getting it; I actively wanted it because I thought I had to receive it before I could start SMS and never got it. I had to manually head to my account to get it going.
There’s no way to avoid call spam, y’know. Almost every phone call I get at home is junk even though I’ve signed up for the Do Not Call registry. Caller ID, mmmm. Good stuff. If I don’t recognize the number, I don’t pick up, simple as that. If they have legit business with me they’ll start talking on the answering machine and then I pick up. If you’re on the Do Not Call and someone does call who is not under one of the exceptions? You can report them and they get a lovely fine of something like $15K. (Assuming you are a US resident, that is, as I don’t know what other countries do about call spam).
So I suggest you not worry so much about the number being known to ANet. It’s not going to do anything detrimental to your life.
You can also read the three GW2 novels. Be warned that they aren’t great literature and you might want to punch Logan and Rytlock for behaving (and talking) like idiotic human teenagers instead of grown man and charr. However they do a fine job of showing a hunk of the world, displaying the races and professions, and giving you the set up to understand the Personal Story.
Ghosts of Ascalon is a treasure hunt through the ruins of a major human city.
Edge of Destiny is how the five main characters of the PS met and explains the DR/Ebonhawke situation among other current politics.
Sea of Sorrows is set much further back, with the rising of Orr and the devastation and rebuilding of Lion’s Arch into a pirate town.
Appreciate the effort but at least mention something about season 1 remake? anything at all? I will keep waiting for season 1 but not actively playing the game, logging in for daily and occasionally supporting the game via gem store will do for now, its that much faith I have in returning season 1 and I hope I wont be disappointed.
You’re in for a long wait. They’ve outright said they would like to eventually remake Season One for replayability but that they cannot do so while building HoT. So once HoT has settled into farm status and the elites are reasonably finalized and balanced, then they might have some attention to spare for Season One as a side project on top of deploying more HoT changes, tweaking guild halls, etc.
There’s nothing else for them to mention since they’ve said “we are not working on this right now.”
Sunday Aug 23, the added sale item is Balthazar Outfit 30% off (490 gems instead of 700).
So that is the first discount during the sale.
Anyone know at what time they update their daily sales in gem store?
So far it’s been around 9 am Pacific. We’ll see if they manage that on a Sunday.
(Not entering for a pass, I’m 3000 miles away)
You can’t go wrong with a game that has more violets, less violence.
Interesting ideas, good feedback even on things ANet’s design philosophy may prevent. But I wouldn’t expect a thread created this week to have any impact on the planned presentation, they’ve already put together their talking points or they wouldn’t have been able to tell us there would be several announcements. They’re probably rehearsing like crazy because it’s not the sort of thing they go on the stage and just improvise.
I actually hope they won’t add them to the gemstore again. GW2 is a fantasy MMO, people shouldn’t be walking around with aviator sunglasses.
Are you kidding me? I miss this combination:
Oh interesting. He looks like Wild-Eyed Miller, probably because there is only one full beard available.
We’re on day two of a twenty-one day anniversary sale in which old items are returning.
So while no one can give you a definite yes or no on this, the next three weeks are your best chance for quite a while for it to be a yes.
Word of warning, such a macro would be against the rules and you could get banned.
What you can do is get the tiniest possible dagger. Depending on your outfit, that won’t really show when sheathed. Then you RP that you don’t have it at all.
Those are lovely Tybalt quotes. I’d add “Spoilers” to your title, though, as a number of those lines are extra delightful the first time you see them in the PS and some players won’t know that Tybalt walks to his death.
Rose is right about there being just one expansion (and Inculpatus about there being a tad more purchasable content — though unless you want the achievements and armor skins from doing Season Two, you can experience it for free in someone else’s instance).
But more, once a second expansion comes, HoT will be the “core” and will be included in the price of buying the next one. Players will never have to buy multiple versions to play, per dev statements.
About the list:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Can-we-get-Anniversary-sale-list/first#post5404750
As to your other queries (likely they could have been in one of the existing threads), it sounds like the first ten days of items will accumulate, then likely be gone Aug 30. From the blog: “the first 10 days of sales will keep stacking up, but only until August 30!” Then there are still 11 more days.
So for now you can peruse the offerings each day, and decide by Aug 29 which if any you want. After that it may be day to day. Sure it would be nice to be able to budget your gems. Since you won’t have the info needed for that, then I suggest you use my buying mantra: “Will I be sorry later today I didn’t buy this? Tomorrow? Next week? In a month? In a year?” And if my inner voice says I’ll berate myself forever for passing up the thing (mild regret I can live with, berating is something else), and buying it won’t be devastating to my finances, I go ahead and buy it right there and then.
I’ve bought things I almost never used, but I have never regretted that nearly as much as passing up something unique only to have it vanish. Don’t forego food, shelter, education, or other necessities, but if you have a certain amount of whim money then spend it on whims without worrying too much that something better will come along. If you really want the thing and will yell at yourself later, then there isn’t anything better! Just comparable
Some new armor skins dropped during the betas..
Did they? I saw new weapons, the Makeshift, but not armor. What were the armors?
It would be nice if they alternated day to day. I know they have 21 days of this but they really should have led off with something … better? I may be projecting my own interests here, as I already have the dagger, the staff, and all the infinite tools I really feel like bothering with unless a new really cool skin shows up. I know at least one person was over the moon at getting the staff yesterday, so my opinion is certainly not universal. Even so, I’m not feeling hyped by what I’ve seen so far other than the opening-a-present feel as I check each day’s offering.
That would make sense, that’s around 9 am pacific. Kudos to whatever ANet employee is in the office at 9 am on a Saturday to flip the switch, though.
I thought he was a centaur and was only mysterious until we found the camp of friendly centaurs?
If we had custom chat channels this wouldn’t even be an issue.
/lobbies
At least my guild is small enough that we tend to congregate on Mumble a lot.
I wonder when they add the new items for the day. I was guessing Seattle midnight though I guess that doesn’t make sense if someone has to actively do it rather than just having a computer put them in when it’s time. I just checked at 9:10 am eastern (6:10 am pacific) and we’re still on Caithe/Kasmeer from yesterday.
I’m not upset or anything
Simply wondering what time of day I should start checking if I want to see the offering for myself instead of getting a “spoiler” of sorts on the forums.
I’d let it be individual to the sylvari. After all, some plants thrive in the cold (holly), others need a good amount of warmth (orchids).
I used this one from Dulfy
http://dulfy.net/2012/10/08/gw2-professor-portmatts-lab-bloodtide-coast-jumping-puzzle-guide/
And followed it blindly. It worked, but that doesn’t mean I can explain the JP.
I do know that if anyone else is doing it at the same time you’ll wreck each other’s settings.
… isn’t that called “Stability?”
I’d love it to be added in. It’s just the sort of thing they quietly do and then announce when it’s ready, since it wouldn’t count as a “major new feature” if it’s just a few more cosmetic options. So let’s keep on hoping
To add to that for possible readers in need, the achieves are greyed out until you have done the chapter once. Then you can repeat the chapter on the same alt and get the achieves; generally you can pick specific parts of the chapter to work on without having to do the whole thing.
Each alt you want available for achieves has to do the base chapter first.
They’re likely calling the Jump/Bump packages “discounts” even though they debuted before today and have never cost more than they do at the present time.
However, saying “all they did” on the first day of 21 days is, at best, premature.
(sorry. Had to reference that line).
Thanks for the tips and the answers! I’ll keep in mind not to open all of the boxes.
The reason not to open them all is that you get 3 of the exact same box, in case you want to build a differently statted gear set after your first one. I suppose you could open another if you really want two of the same weapon for testing a build, though you do get started with the professions weapons — they’re just Celestial stats.
Once opened, though, you need to toss out, sell, salvage, or mystic forge the things you can’t use. Not that you’ll keep the coin or mats or anything but it does clear things out. Also if you’re a newer account you might want to sell just to get enough waypoint money not to worry about hopping about. Plus even though you can’t keep anything you loot in beta, it’s still nice to have room to put it in your bags rather than getting “your inventory is full” popup messages.
If we’re going with two words for a staff fighter … the Friar Tuck. …. j/k
I do like Daredevil. I hope for a “Swashbuckler” elite in the future. It would have dual swords, lots of swinging on ropes, dropping chandeliers on people, descending steep surfaces (eg sails) by sticking a blade in them to slow the descent, a charm-based stun … /grins
… I am? Where in this thread have I been confused about word meanings? I was just bringing to your attention that Behellagh had already pointed out that there are three categories. Returning items as you asked about plus new items and discounted items.
Is this actually going to be a sale or just listing items that haven’t been on the TP for awhile?
See Behellagh’s post above you.
I enjoy doing rounds of Silverwaste. Dungeons/fractals with my friends. But what keeps the game alive for me is RP.
So I don’t need phat loots, I just need RP support to expand. Then I can paint my own tales on the Tyrian canvas.
Will this weekend be BWE2?
No. They would have said so by now if it were. Likely it won’t be next weekend either as Gaile has posted that the demo available at PAX will be the core game, not HoT.
Would the guild bonuses work? Your beta alts can’t rep the guild.
I’m going to guess it was the amount of ectos she’d sent to the wrong mail.
You’ll get it before. At least, I and others did.
The beta slots work as follows (or did in BWE1):
You select a beta slot and click the beta create button, not the normal create button. You make your alt as usual except you don’t get to pick most of the story step answers. You load in — for BWE1 you loaded into an instanced area of Silverwastes in the Red Fort. If you’ve made one of the professions that has a revealed elite, you are already spec’d into that elite (you are automatically 80 regardless). You can rearrange your traits to your preferences.
In your inventory there are several boxes. DO NOT OPEN THEM ALL. Each one will fill your bags with exactly the same set of gear, ie six pieces of armor in your weight and one of each weapon, all exotic. You double click an item to pick stats for it. There will also be an upgrades box that will choke your inventory further with a zillion runes and sigils so you can customize the gear further. And there will be a consumables box with a variety of foods and honing stones.
You’ll have all your account dyes unlocks available. You will also have bank access if you go somewhere with a bank (you have all wps open so you can, but you may want to do the starting story first and get into Verdant Brink before hopping to a bank). Put anything you want your beta alts to have in your bank beforehand; when you make your alts a copy of your account is made and then anything you loot or spend, any transmutes, etc, have no effect on your live account. So if you want to use ascended items or have a pile of food to nosh, get the stuff in your bank asap.
Note you cannot make the beta alts except while beta is active.
I actually don’t like Charr in pants. Skirts are a problem too, running wise, but somehow the pants always look like stuffing an animal into human clothes. Loincloths might work? Or strapped on armor bits with lots of fur showing?
Anyway, my Charr ele looks pretty good in low-end cultural, imo:
I’ll join in the request for a return to the blue color (current icon is fine, just blends in due to the color). But color demands seem least likely to ever be heard by ANet.
/quietly weeps over grey emote text
I hope the person you sent it to realizes and returns it.
Meanwhile, I never mail anything by typing the name in the mailbox field. Not due to caution, due to laziness. I always find their name in the guild roster or my friends list or in chat, right click and pick “send mail.” I don’t think I’ve ever missed my mail target.
Well to be fair, he’s just been megazapped and lost pieces of himself, so the broadside is more along the lines of finishing him off.
But yeah, it’s a bit of a letdown. I’m trying to remember if it bothered me my first time in. I know it was fairly grueling dealing with all his minions before they sent most of those off on vacation, and none of us in the group knew what we were doing because it was so early in the game’s life. So there was a sense of completion and difficulty at the time.
Oh, one thing I always tell people after helping them their first time through: Make sure to talk to the late arrival to the victory party, go through -all- his dialogue options. Because then something magical happens. (And I further advise, don’t talk to any NPC involved in the magic before you have your screen shots because they stop doing it). People with a human noble origin should get an extra kick out of him.
Stick with it, Jetta. ANet learned from their errors. Season One you can’t play, alas, just see a truncated recap in LA (or find videos and wiki entries) but Season Two had vastly better storytelling and HoT looks to have even better, with our characters belting out commands real time in game etc.
Whether it will be satisfyingly better I cannot say, that is subjective, but I don’t think they’ll ever inflict a Zhaitan on us again.
