Coulter is right, this may be a language issue. Gaile, however, is a native English speaker, so in
“I’d just like to add that making an assessment of a game while in beta is, at best, premature.”
“at best” refers back to “making an assessment” — ie we have one full concept, (making an assessment of a game while in beta), then a verb, (is), and a modified adjective, (premature) with the modification being (at best). So she’s politely saying (Your opinion that an unfinished project has failed) (is) (complete dreck but let’s be nice and say you just haven’t seen enough yet).
I applaud her diplomacy. I’d hate to be a chef told that the complicated dish I’m making is a failure and will taste horrible because the person ordering it has seen one third of the raw ingredients.
Challenging RL group content confirmed!
2 questions:
1. How is this not a straight upgrade of warrior?
2. Can a player-made-into-a-projectile be reflected?
1 — I don’t know, I’m not a theorycrafter.
2 — Nope. Read the article as well as dev responses in these forums, it’s not technically feasible. Nice big red ANet flag on this thread that is titled exactly as needed to point you to the answer https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior/How-to-make-a-player-a-projectile-Berserker/first#post5398655
Hello,
if I buy HoT and upgrade my existing account will I be get also core game code an be able to create new account?
Thank you for answer.
Read this thread for full discussion. You’ll be in it soon enough anyway

Oh, I think we’ve seen far less than 25%, as we’ve seen one step of the very first part. Not that I believe we’ll have anything as long as the original PS, but I do hope it will be more than one LS2 chapter has. Then they can add LS chapters later.
Also note that we only had the help Laranthir option in the BWE. They’ve said that we’ll be able to replay each bit with different choices, and then go back later as we have more masteries so we can reach yet more options. If that applies even to the starter bit, we must have seen much less than 25% of the narrative on offer.
… also mentioned that what we have seen of verdant brink is about 25% of the story and zone. So that should give some feeling for that zone at least.
A nicely presented post, but I want to correct this one thing: What we saw of VB was 25% of the map (could be 25% of all of it, or 25% of just the one biome out of three, I’m not sure). But nothing said what percentage of the story we saw, just that it was only the opening bit so as to avoid further spoilers.
I think it’s reasonable to predict there will be an F3 skill, maybe even an F4. That would explain why they needed to change from F1 as a toggle to F1 and F2 splitting the function of Steal — they want to add more to the mechanic and needed us used to multiple F key use.
Whether they will still be “steal” focused functions is another question. Oh I do hope that next week we get the Thief reveal, even if it’s overshadowed a bit by the PAX stuff.
The worst part is: It’s probably going to be the reverse of how they did Dragonhunter … make a name that would be best as one word into two.
This. I’m absolutely fine with “Daredevil” as a name. It’s a good English word and it fits my devil-may-care swashbuckling con man thief to a T. It goes in line with all the professions having just one word. “Dare Devil” is not a word or phrase that currently exists. Though I suppose the etymology does, in that a daredevil is defying the devil to sabotage his or her crazy extreme sports.
Regardless, “Daredevil” flows much better and I don’t think Marvel has it copyrighted unless used in conjunction with a “DD” emblazoned red skintight suit with little nubbly devil horns and the name Matthew Murdock.
With Asura you likely do want to keep the heads big. With humans the trick to maintaining a look proportionate to others is to shrink the head a bit for taller characters and grow it for shorter ones, since human heads are generally in the same size range no matter the height difference. Otherwise you get clashing scales and look like one guy is from 15 mm scale and the other from 25 mm (for those who paint miniatures).
Here are shots from BWE1 and BWE3 (original, not HoT) to illustrate the problem.
If the conjure has flappy wings I vote hugely no. I get motion sickness from those in my screen, but at least most people don’t bother conjuring fire elementals in cities.

If it’s a new account, it has enough slots for 5/9 of the professions. If it’s an existing account, it gets another slot on top of however many the account has previously purchased, and the account keeps all the upgrades — dye unlocks, bank slots, account bound crafting, skins no longer available, achievement bonuses to gold and magic find etc — along with all the AP gains over years of play. The reason the extra one slot is fair is that a lot of veterans don’t have empty slots and would either have to delete an alt or buy a new slot to play a revenant.
They really don’t need to give us more than that to keep it fair.
I could have bought a second account for ten bucks three different weekends. I elected not to, and have no regrets, because I have no interest in starting an account from scratch after 3 years of building up the one I have. I have … 18? … slots now, all but two in use. Two of those in use are for a revenant name place holder and another place holder to keep an RP alternate name for my secret agent mesmer. So maybe I’m not feeling your urgency as I’ve simply bought slots over the years as I felt the need.
Anyway, an established account has all sorts of bonuses that make it far more valuable than a new one so getting four extra slots is not actually in parity, it’s beyond it.
OP, I suggest you look at the site I linked. I’d have to review it again myself but I think it’s fairly objective and you can form your own opinions on the value.
No need to deal with the embittered (or the completely enamored come to that).
Lornar’s is pretty much the biggest one with the least likelihood of death. But just to be sure, you are deliberately doing it the combat way and not by crafting?
I got it a long time ago, much to my surprise, when doing a ton of crafting in LA. I think it took about 5 level skillups from jewelcrafting to trigger the achieve. (No dc’s during the crafting and I don’t think I WP’d from craft machines to TP as it was old LA and they were right by each other).
Pshaw, what is this “pay” thing?
If you’re on NA I’ll be glad to assist after doing the dailies in a few minutes. Maybe not with the centaur one because Never Again. But all the rest? Sure.
Yep, the link goes to a site that breaks it down by what is HoT-specific and what goes to everyone, to the best of what is known.
Umm … maybe they will be doing outside events too? All that announcement says is that to get into the theater for a panel presented at PAX, you have to have a pass to attend events at PAX. Which is completely reasonable.
I’m guessing they’ll just cost a hunk of Hero Points. So altoholics may have the joy of repeated Hero Point gathering around the world.
Hmm, routine maintenance tonight. I suppose it is just routine … but it could mean they are prepping for a lot of gem store stuff this coming week.

Since the unlocks go to the copy of your account made for your beta alts, no, they won’t go to your main account.
I think the first dye channel affects the headpiece, but the latter is so teensy it’s hard to tell in a preview.
It may have a gradated glow channel? Hopefully we’ll find out soon.
This line intrigues me:
“There they’ll be making a number of big announcements that will define the future of Guild Wars 2 and—as many of you have been waiting for—reveal a major feature coming in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns™.”
So it’s more than just the challenging group content.
Light armor has Stately legs for a skirt. Here’s mine when she’s not in an outfit (Crystal Nomad looks magnificent on her). Her hidden helm is the Aether one, a full cap with goggles and a spray of connector cables as a “ponytail.”
Interesting …
From my understanding, all of the other elites can be turned on or off whenever (at least that is what they said during the announcement). Presumably to be able to switch to elite, equip the weapon, then use it.
With Berserker it only activates under certain circumstances. So do you then stop what you are doing (while your adrenaline goes down) to equip the elite weapon and hope it did not swap out the one you wanted to be able to switch to?
This shouldn’t happen any more than a Reaper loses GS use just because they ran out of Life Force.
Sort of bunny ears?

… sorrynotsorrycouldnotresist.
Nothing concrete came out other than a flat out statement by Colin that while they think templates are a cool idea, they have not worked on them for HoT.
So no, it’s not possible, they aren’t spending the resources on it at this time. Maybe a while after HoT? But not just after.
Didn’t they mention somewhere that it would release by end of summer 2015?
You are conflating two things. One, a dev at a conference for devs referred to release “this summer” and two, at GamesCom the devs made a big point that release will be in 2015.
Can you pop a projectile reflect skill and send that player that was hit by wild blow back to the warrior? if so, that will be hilarious.
Nope! Read the article as well as responses in this very thread to see why not.
The OP brings up Black Desert. I’ve seen videos of it and it does look to have some cool things. The red flag for me, though, is that as I understand it BD will have open world PvP that you can’t avoid.
Hmm… well, I guess I won’t be getting that game.
I could be wrong, which is why I qualified the statement. But I recall reading/hearing that at one point and instantly going meh and having the same reaction as you. You may want to do your own research to make sure.
My question is how hard/easy it is to maintain the Berserker state. I haven’t been playing my Warriors so much but I do know it seems like every moment you’re not actively hitting things your adrenaline is draining away. Can you only access Berserker mode for a few seconds at a time?
Has 8 seconds CD and activation of 1/4s. Also gives 33% attack speed afaik. Requires full adrenaline to activate.
Exactly. You have to build up adrenaline to enter the beserk state. Do you then have to do high maintenance to stay there? Reaper works well because you keep Life Force forever until you use it, so you have a lot of flexibility on using Reaper Shroud. If Berserker only gives you all the shiny goodies after a fight’s gone on for a while, and then kicks you back to base state if you go three seconds without hitting something, that could be annoying.

Some people really like that. I don’t, and I think those who really enjoy GW2 do so in part because it doesn’t have that. So no matter how “big” a thing BD is, it just may not appeal to most of GW2 players and then it can go be big in its own corner while GW2 retains a player base just fine.
What you can do is make the Asura the way you want, screenshot the sliders to make it easy to replicate, then go into game and head for the nearest bank or crafting station (likely that means hopping into Rata Sum and trotting down one level to the Accountancy waypoint).
There you can bring up the Wardrobe and preview every piece of medium armor to your heart’s content.
If you don’t like how it looks, delete, remake with any tweaks, and btw try to use the name you want on the test character because then you have it for 24 hours after any character deletion.

Ha, check the linked screenshots from the article at http://www.mattsta.ninja/berserker-exclusive-reveal/ — the last one, Head Butt, is a riot with that helm.
I dunno about that helmet. It’s like a twisted response to all the requests for the return of bunny ears …
I’m not into skulls and giant horns anyway. But I’m glad some find it kick-a.
Annnd now you can get exactly what you want without sacrificing an item. Win?
The “special” now lies in finding rare skins. You get to keep your stats and runes.
The PAX Schedule shows this for the Saturday Aug 29 panel. Hooray, that’s 1:30 pm eastern, I should have no trouble viewing it time-wise
Going to buy it when it comes out archeage died too fast
I had a big house in archeage but i didnt pay the bills
This is the problem with most MMO housing. Spend all that effort on it, step away from the game, return, POOF. All gone.
Whatever version GW2 gets, I most devoutly hope that it is never taken away due to upkeep issues. This game is meant to be playable without loss of progress even after a long absence.
If I hadn’t long ago maxed out my bank slots I’d be a little bit tempted. Well also I have every dye I could possibly get from an Unidentified Dye. Maybe if I had a second account? Meh, I want to spend my gems on butterfly wings and wedding dresses.
Thanks for posting this, OP, I was just coming in to make a thread but you did all the hard work of the price comparisons. Here’s a picture of the items, if that helps.
At least the hilt sits at your hip. I spent some time last night on my male sylvari warrior previewing torches. I had them wielded, but at one point I wanted to see one without the flame and checked it over to stowed.
Egad, every torch seems to think the head of the torch needs to be close to the thigh, so the handles jut out horribly far in front. The man won’t be able to use his right arm with that pole blocking it by sticking up at a 45 degree angle a full forearm length!
Part of the problem is that there are a number of different places to click. You pick the overall mastery line to work on by clicking the gold blob/star at the top next to the mastery line name. Then I think you also have to click to the left of the tier you’re working on, though it did seem to automatically advance through the tiers. Whichever tier of whichever line you are on becomes your xp bar, applied specifically to that tier. To the right of the tier line in the UI there is a little mastery point icon with a small easy to miss number, which is how many points you will need. Once you fill the xp and have enough points, you can spend the points on that tier, gaining access to the abilities it contains and moving on to the next tier or else selecting another overall trait completely.
So it’s pick the area (Gliding, Itzel Lore, and such like), make sure the next available tier is active, do events — they seem to say it’s not straight xp filling it up but participation in the map? This is unclear — and the moment you can spend your points, do so and choose what you want to advance next, thus allowing you to immediately work on the next line without wasting xp.
Gaining points to spend is murkier. Obviously there are the communing mastery points, and I think you get them from doing activities (each time you do an activity? The first time you do one and achieve gold?), but until that’s clearer the points could become a bottleneck. Though at least it seems you can advance the xp of other lines while searching out points to spend.
The amount of misspelling, misinterpretation and misinformation is so big in this thread I could cry.
Look at the post history of the one you consider most egregious here and you will no longer be surprised.
Why is this thread separate from the release date thread?
I think the derailment happened because this thread was in general discussion at first rather than originating in Players Helping Players.
Haptic, it depends on what you like most. I’m no PvPer so to me the meat of the game is exploring. Looking all through the zones, listening to NPC dialogues, worming my way into caves, etc. Once you’ve done that, there’s leveling alts, doing rounds of Silverwastes (an 80 zone that is quite lucrative), world bosses, dungeons (either join a few friends, or make an LFG party yourself for first time runs), working through the Living Story to be ready for the story’s continuation in HoT, etc.
You should see people anywhere you go, thanks to megaservers.
About the video, I’m not a techie type but I will say I’m sold on NVidia. It seems that most games are most optimized for it and non-NVidia users get more bugs and glitches in their display. At least this was the case in my formative years of computer buying.
I do like NVidia support, they make it easy to get new drivers via the GeForce Experience program.
They come out on Thursdays, though sometimes we get a 3rd party news article on Wednesday that reveals the blog contents and more.
The skill is the Mesmer portal.
First person is done by clicking the check box in the camera section of Options (towards the bottom of the panel) then zooming your camera in close to your character.

I’ve seen a few people post about it, and it happened to me as well. I think if you check the Bugs forum you’ll find the thread(s).
Interesting, we continue to be in order on the Professions page, having only skipped Ranger. This gives me some hope for Thief next week, though as that will be the week leading up to PAX Prime we might not get a profession elite at all.
