Just added: Belinda’s Greatsword Skin 480 gems (usually 600) and Shadow Assassin Outfit 454 gems (usually 700).
Bump/Jump are back to 800/2000.
My main concern, and I understand it may be moot if the datamining has errors in it, is that it seems you have to unlock in order around the circle. So saying “you need X for skills and traits and Y for items so just get enough for X” doesn’t take into account that you must spend the item points along the way.
I’ve been spending an hour or two a day gathering hero points on the necromancer I want to make a Reaper. She has 40 points left to gather out of the 189, plus whatever’s in DT and SW. With 40 more she’ll have 180 banked hero points, as she has full core unlocks. That doesn’t seem like enough to match the datamined requirements.
So I hope there are errors and/or the devs have other ways for us to gather hero points. Right now I’m at:
Thief — 214 HP (he has world completion including WvW)
Mesmer for Fractals — 104 HP
Mesmer for LS — 107 HP
Mesmer for JP’s — 103 HP
Necromancer for Fashion — 101 HP
Necromancer for Reaper — 140 HP
Necromancer for Asura PS — 101 HP
Warrior for RP — 100 HP
Warrior for Male Sylvari Cultural — 103 HP
Guardian for DPS — 104 HP
Guardian for Support — 204 HP (has world completion including WvW)
Engineer to have an 80 of each prof — 100 HP
Ranger to have an 80 of each prof — 101 HP
Elementalist to have an 80 of each prof — 100 HP
and Elementalist to be an RP shill — doesn’t count yet, he’s only 60.
That’s going to be a lot of hours trotting around the maps (and having to go into WvW to get past 180 it seems) to make them all able to use Elite specs if I need to get to 200 each.
I’ll continue on my Reaper — she’s even the one with the HoT glider — and certainly I’ll test the heck out of Daredevil. Probably I’ll test the Chronomancer and Dragonhunter changes before I delete someone to make room for Daredevil. I should also try Berserker if there is time, possibly Tempest, but as my warriors and ele’s are little played I don’t know that I’d have any meaningful feedback. I’ll see how Glint works on my test Rev. Mostly Daredevil and Reaper for me, though, unless something else turns out to engage my interest more than I expected.
There are beta achieves to get, masteries to advance, new places to explore, and a wild noble to placate. Sadly I can’t play nonstop! There’s sleep, food, and catsitting for friends who went to DragonCon to do.
And then of course there’s the fantastic feedback template up in the stickies here to use as a model to write out my response to the weekend.
Hmm … how big a guild? If we can field five active members right now we’ll be lucky
We’re working on it but it’s a slow rebuild. And I don’t think there are any larger guilds that would take me in just for an event even if I could bring myself to leave my guild’s chat for another.
I’d love this but as I’ve mentioned before, I think the limitation is that it would mean each time you opened a vendor panel or the TP, it would have to scan every item offered and compare it to your account’s unlocks.
Laaaaaaaag.
It just struck me in another thread: Could this mean ANet might find it easier to make licensed merchandise? TShirts, cell phone covers, all the things suggested in the “Please sell us this cool stuff” threads?
With limited exceptions having to do with direct giveaways face to face, those tshirts have always been specifically for ANet employees. I doubt they’ll make them generally available.
Something along the same lines in shades of grey and black was in a Facebook poll ANet did around launch time asking for people to vote on suggested tshirt designs, but nothing ever came of it. There are “please offer this merchandise” threads from time to time, one including Gaile’s interest and her saying she’d pass it on, but they have a lot of licensing and legal issues to consider.
Who knows? Now that they are self-publishing, maybe the merchandise floodgates can open!
ANet isn’t going to peruse the code and give a yea/nay on it. They do not police mods, they simply refuse them and make them bannable except for API stuff such as Overwulf. They’ve made this stance clear over the years. They simply won’t give a go ahead on a currently ok mod only to have it tweaked until it does violate the rules, they aren’t going to keep monitoring mods. Just assume any mod is bad unless you find a lot of evidence supporting it as legit.
They are sales if you buy gems with cash. If more people doing so are using the gems to buy items rather than gold, those gems remain scarce for people buying them with gold and the gold price goes up.
I’m sorry you missed it
But the forums have been tracking the sale, and there’s been a lot of publicity that there would be new things each day and the first ten days would be wiped on the tenth day. If you were out in the field and had no time for the internet at all, that is a sadness and I wish I’d known, I would have gifted it to you (possibly hoping you’d gift me something of equal value later, but I never put strings on such things). If you just didn’t bother to check for a minute each day in case what you wanted was there, that, I fear, is on you.
Oh, no, I should have been more clear. You do get individual dye schemes per character, but they persist for all outfits that character dons. That’s why sometimes there is a dye channel that does nothing, eg the first dye slot on Balthazar’s, because they only put in three slots for that outfit but your four-dye scheme remains constant.
If your four dyes in your outfit dye section aren’t persisting, you have a bug. If they are, and you just want to rearrange them for each outfit, that’s by current design. When they first debuted they went back to default colors any time you swapped outfits and that really did suck.
Not that I don’t appreciate free stuff… but why does this outfit have to be so darn ugly? I can’t even tell that my character is female in this armor! Thanks for nothing (because I’ll never wear it), I guess.
I’m rejoicing that females get a full coverage functional set of plate. And I can still tell gender on them thanks to stance, animation, slimmer waists (and on Charr, of course, there is the tail).
I think it’s gorgeous and it’s going to be RP sets for quite a few of my alts of either gender.
The sale is the same NA or EU. Check https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Anniversary-Sales-Updates/first for the daily update of what’s for sale.
Except that people could flood the market with the specialty dyes, or stock up bag slots on the cheap for their Revenants. Plus the text on them in the shop says “You can buy one at this price.”
So, not a bug.
You can still add bag slots to current alts for 200 gems each if you buy via the padlock tabs in Inventory.
There’s also a lot of explorer achievements beyond just unlocking areas. You can consult the Dulfy guides to zip through them for 10 AP each.
Discounted bag slot singular. Only one to a customer. Unless it’s glitching and going at 200 gems per slot for multiple slots?
/sees Randulf’s post.
Darn it. I wanted to save them for my Revenant. Guess I’ll max my current two slot-deficient alts.
Just added:
Shadow Dye Kit 1 for 25 gems (normally 1 for 125) — remains normal price in batches of 5 or 25
Flame Dye Kit same as Shadow
Bag Slot 200 gems (normally 400)
edit: You can only buy ONE of each of the items at that price.

I find your Autumn most striking. The others look much more “typical.” But then I tend to like darker tones; my first sylvari was (and is) dark brown with cream mottling and white leaves with a yellow glow. I like your Autumn also for how she looks sweet and kind even with the branches on her head; usually people go for crueler faces if they’re doing Faolain style hair.
I suggest you let her armor colors contrast here and there. Maybe shade the ends towards pink or any pastel. I find I like my sylvari armor best when it seems to be a flower
It’s a Priory woman, Ella Mackay (spelling uncertain, sorry). She’s on the beach just north of the Tengu wall waypoint (Diverse Ledges, I believe). She summarizes season one, highlighting the key points that lead to season two. She does not give season two — you can join the instance of anyone who has S2 unlocked to see the story, though not to get the rewards and achievements.
The summary does not include a lot of things that happened or give the flavor of what it was like to be there, so you’d still need to see videos and read summaries for more detail.
Also if you bought it from ANet directly, you get the expansion on Oct 23 and all the goodies therein, because ANet isn’t selling anything but HoT now.
I thought it was right around 100 points for the elite. Of course, I’m basing it off the current points need for a core spec and a skill bar with 6 skills in it. Its 60 points, I believe for the trait line, and then another like 25 for the skill line. Puts us at 85 points, roughly? I think that’s perfectly fine.
Do we know if we will have new hero challenges in the HoT maps, for those that don’t desire to go grab them in the core game? I didn’t see any in the beta, but I hadn’t heard definitively that we wouldn’t either. I doubt we’d have a full 85 new ones in HoT, but I would expect at least a few.
Apparently you also get item unlocks and they are woven in among the other stuff, so that pumps it up a bit.
I got all my 80’s to 100 world skill points done. Now that it looks like I might need far more, I started in on my sylvari necromancer as she’s the most likely to go ICly Reaper and I have a Thief and a Guardian with world completion. Adding 13 Hero points took a pretty darn long time, 1.5 to 2 hours (I wasn’t tracking precisely) because I had to run her around to waypoints as well. The Iron Marches have a lot of annoying cliffs, grr. I’ve been holding Orr in reserve for more points, especially as it takes quite a while to get around in there even if you do have waypoints theoretically available. And there are some in DT/SW to fill in gaps, and in extremis I can attempt WvW points.
Even if I elect to make only one alt of each profession eligible for the elite, that’s six more after the necro, at maybe nine hours each? I guess that’s a project for the next couple of months, if I don’t go frothing mad.
I think it would be very nice of ANet to give us a ballpark figure for full unlock like they did before. Sure, it turned out the +75 they said got rolled into just turning 80 … but at least I knew it as a figure, and at least it got me off my rear to really work on 14 alts worth of 100 points each. But that took out the low hanging fruit in the starter areas so the next 100 points each is going to be much sludgier.
This sounds like a complaint, I know, but at most it’s a mild one. I like opening up map areas on my alts, I enjoy PvE, and I’ve deliberately leveled my alts that way rather than with tomes so I’m willing to take my time in the world. If I didn’t, well, omg. I feel a great deal of empathy for those who don’t!
That is a superb question. I’ve just looked through every female human and norn hairstyle in the hairstyle kit, new and old, and I must be blind if it’s there because I cannot find anything with that combination of forehead swoop and thick ponytail with holder.
I did not look in the total makeover kit, because that should have exactly the same hairstyle options.
edit: Zalladi must be correct, some people got stuck with new styles due to a glitch that was in the kits for a day or two.
further edit — Yep, I found it on a Reddit post with pictures of the new hairs that were found. It’s human female.

Please add your ideas to https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Lack-of-official-merchandise-Ideas/first#post5122182 if that thread still works — because I really would like TShirts like you describe if they are designs that cover the shirt and have good rich colors.
They will be needed for the elite specialization once HoT launches. Current datamining suggests you’ll want, oh, around 90 more points for that on top of your 110. You get them by doing what used to be skill challenges with blue chevrons on the map. They are the same challenges but now are called hero challenges and have almost invisible brown icons.
New LA only has the one, it’s in the giant seashell southwest of the Mystic Forge. It should have an icon on your map. It’s just far enough from the bank to be an annoying run even with the speed boost npc on the way.
Other places that have lost them are the starter zones just outside the cities, they were inconveniently removed with the NPE.
I don’t have a main exactly, but I do have an RP main who also gets first crack at all the LS and new things. Too bad he’s a Thief and very squishy … though that did make the fight against the Shadow of the Dragon in the Grove rather epic the first time. He also has all my shovels and keys for SW.
But I have mesmers for dungeons and fractals, and lots of professions for various RP stories. Oddly I have ascended gear on my one alt that most cannot go PvEing, my human necromancer, because she has her bags choked with all the different light armors ready to swap looks at need. Maybe I should hand over her ascended to my fractals mesmer
you mind directing me to this?
Here you go.

What’s different about yours is asking for the origin of the look. Some of the posts in the big thread do that, most just give a list of the pieces and dyes.
I’m sure the economics experts will swoop in on this with detailed reasons but for now I’ll give you the gist:
It acts as a necessary gold sink.
It prevents people using the TP as a storage unit.
I think there are achievements for all of them so you eventually want to do all the paths if you can.
I usually pick the party, and then invite up to 4 friends to come use the instance as a chance to RP in a fancy party setting. Now that we have the always-available LS2 chapter with a huge party in the Pavilion, though, that’s less of a factor. Still, the party is a nice change of pace from the combat-oriented PS steps we usually get, and does give a lot of insight into the personalities and politics of DR. It also gives you more context for your choices of partner in the next story step (in fact, I think it gives you one extra option, someone you meet at the party that you wouldn’t if you had done the B&E choice).
I’m not sure where to post this but this thread seems the best candidate. To answer the thread itself, I like needing to coordinate and having each person have something important to do. It needn’t be hair-thin reaction reflex to be fun for me, but I want it to matter that I was in the right place at the right time doing the right thing. Bonus if it’s more than just learning the steps of the dance and doing it exactly the same every time.
Now as to what I wanted to mention: There is a PCGamer article on Raids. It doesn’t say much more than Colin’s announcement did, but it has a screenshot of a fight with the flamethrower woman.
http://www.pcgamer.com/raids-are-coming-to-guild-wars-2-heart-of-thorns/
She is HUGE.
I understand the gameplay reasons for that but I really, truly hope there’s an in-game reason for it beyond “you guys need to be able to see the boss.” She looks like an Engineer, maybe she chugs a growth elixir right before the fight and grows before our eyes? In fact, maybe the elixir unhinges her and that’s why she berserkly attacks the nice ten people talking to her?
Big plant beasts, fine. Giant spiders, I’ll ignore the physics of it. But humans (or even norns) just don’t get that big in Tyria, so it’s rather jarring to see it in that screenshot.
Ah, I meant to expand on my point a bit.
So long as new cool things keep coming, new players will have their own “I was there” items and get braided into the community as part of the process.
My guild had a fairly fun, long RP plot in the first months of the game. Some of the repercussions of that storyline affect the characters to this day. We’ve had newer members join the guild and bemoan that they didn’t get to be part of that tale. I keep telling them hey, the story is ongoing, you’ll be part of it from here on forward and in a year there’ll be someone else new wishing they’d been part of your plot.
That’s a microcosm of the game. And of life, really. Unless you are born as a twin, there is no one you will meet who has gone through the same path of life as you. They’ll have their own stories, their own mementos of things you didn’t get to see, their own sets of friends from before you met. Go on forward, make new memories together, don’t regret the inevitable gaps in your shared histories.
More cool things are coming. Enjoy!
I agree with PopeUrban. Normally I don’t see any reason to have cutoffs on availability of skins. But when they are a thank you or a reward based on meeting certain parameters of dedication to the game (got HoM points, prepurchased the original game, bought the game before knowing it would be play for free, did really super well in PvP) then they should remain accessible only to those who met the requirements.
Now, RNG like the jetpack or ghastly shield? Or short term gem store availability not tied to doing in-game stuff, like, say, the bunny ears or aviator sunglasses? Having those isn’t a statement of anything, and they certainly should be brought back.
(I have the ears and the glasses, would have liked the jetpack if it had ever dropped for me, and have zero interest in the shield).
Just a flesh wound, I had the same mental comparison but elected to go with “happy” because I don’t want giant brick buildings stomping through the cities.
Gaile, you’ve been all over these forums on a Sunday, finding cheer and stomping out fires! I hope you get a day off some time soon (Labor Day maybe?). <3
I just received my second one. I don’t know exactly when it was mailed as I’ve been playing a tabletop game all evening and just ducked back in to do dailies. So some time in the past 5 or 6 hours?
My first one came yesterday, not that long after the PAX presentation.
When I dyed the Royal Guard Outfit on all my alts yesterday I frequently had the image start out in odd colors. I found that just toggling the Hero Panel off and on again cured it each time.
Taking a day off for the release of a game?
You’re going to have a bad time.
I took a week off for GW2’s launch and I don’t remember sleeping much but I do remember everything working just fine. With one exception, my guild leader wanted us to try sPvP but the NPC in the lobby that you talked to wasn’t working. I got swept away in PvE and never tried PvP again until the Stronghold beta.
Anyway, other games may make it standard to have everything unplayable in the first hours but ANet isn’t cut from that cloth.
I’m amazed, I didn’t think it was possible to evade the blue. Especially that very vivid sash, I’d no idea you could get that color past the blue haze.
Just remember you can only control one at a time. If one button moves more than one character, you’re in ban territory.
Ha! You got an out loud giggle from me. Much needed, thanks.
That is an odd way to build a doorway. I wonder if it was the other way around and looked frightened when the Inquest held sway?
Not talking about free players, talking about players who buy the lastest expansion. why does anets policy of buy once tailor to the new players and leave the rest of us coughing up blood each time a new expansion comes out. for this expansion alone, I need a total of $300 for everyone to play, a fee I will have to pay each and every time a new one comes out. that’s by no means an easy sum. they said they don’t want new players to face a pay wall, but its okay that old players do???
This is such a puzzling viewpoint to me. If you want a new game, you have to pay for each copy of it, right? New players aren’t paying any less to buy HoT, they just didn’t have the previous version of the game.
Do people who played Dragon Age 1 feel they shouldn’t have to pay for the sequel? Did going to Star Wars mean you got a discount on seeing The Empire Strikes Back? Hey, I read the Hobbit, give me the Fellowship of the Ring for free. I’ve listened to “Allentown” a few times, I should get “Innocent Man” gratis.
JEM, I think what that shows is they aren’t keeping records of our payment info. Hopefully it means that its being saved in the Purchase Gems panel is client-side. Anyway, I prefer that they don’t have a database full of direct connections to players’ bank accounts against which to check current purchase requests. Hackers do happen
You can start a new free account if you want and get exactly what the new free players are getting. Enjoy the restrictions!
If you mean having the core game bundled in, the long thread full of reasons why that is a non-issue is —-—> thattaway.
If you bought the game before yesterday and registered it, you count as a “veteran” for purposes of the giveaway of the Royal Guard Outfit this week. It isn’t armor, it’s a skin that covers your armor and is infinitely useable on all your alts. You can only hide the helmet, and you have to dye the whole thing with 4 dye channels instead of piece by piece.
Remember, once you’ve bought, you own it forever (well, unless banned). All you need to do is reinstall the client and log in with your old id and password.
As Kitty said, though, that isn’t the Lumi set. The Lumi set completely glows bright blue and any dye you put on it only slightly shades the blue. However, Carapace is what it looks like without the blue.
You do need to do LS2 plus SW for the Carapace pieces (and fight Vinewrath for the chest piece and hope you get three drops in less time than 80 kills), but you don’t have to go on and do all the achieves unless you want the Lumi as well.
If you previously bought and registered the game, it’s not gone, just uninstalled. You can reactivate your account and pick up where you left off for free.
You might even have a nice armor outfit waiting for you.
You guys are in for a treat! We have 45 pages of people presenting (mostly) stunning combinations.
That sort of works, Konig, other than the awkwardness of:
Kasmeer: "So much wreckage … "
Laranthir: “We salads don’t suck as much as you are saying we suck.”
Mordremoth: “KILL THEM. KILL THEM ALL.”
Player fights alongside the biconics, Revenanting all over the battlefield
Rytlock cutscene
Biconics: “Whoa, you’re back, and you’re using strange magics we have never seen before because the Boss sure wasn’t doing the exact same thing to save our butts just now.”
