I really don’t like that burning stacks duration, and not damage.
But I am curious how the damage is calculated. If I have a lot of condition damage and I’m applying burning, while there’s another player applying burning with little to none, how does it determine how much damage each tick does?
I’ve got 100% in all 3 of the Orr zones. Not sure what you could be missing.
You may want to check with one of the online maps that shows all the points to find out what you’re missing.
The Elementalist Air Attunement skill Chain Lightning will often bug out and not hit the Blooms in Twilight Arbor.
You just get the “Obscured” message.
Chain Lightning often won’t hit the Blooms in Twilight Arbor.
You just get the “Obscured” message.
Really a pain too, because those things will kill you if you aren’t careful. So you have to switch to another attunement and single target them. Chain Lightning would be the best for this, as it kills 3 with 1 shot.
When you’re trying to loot something with NPC’s around you, or other things you can interact with, like siege equipment.
I think looting should take priority over any other action before allowing you to interact with anything/anyone nearby.
For example: I am in a dungeon, with one of those NPC followers following me. Every time I run up to loot a group of bodies, I end up talking to the NPC.
Also, you can’t loot with certain things up on your screen. The vote windows or other dialogue windows, for instance. Really annoying.
I have noticed many times that getting to corpse with loot on it can be difficult. Especially during long dungeon boss fights, or long event bosses etc.
I’m not the type to run around looting bodies while there’s still something to be killed(combat looting is frowned upon by a lot of players as well).
The time for decay of a body should be increased a bit longer. 5 minutes maybe. I notice bodies with no loot disappear very rapidly, which is nice.
Sadly it is.
It would be nice if there was more of an option to run around with a small group, or a duo even. Cutting in between the zerg fights and the entry point of the opposing zerg side. Letting you stem the flow of reinforcements or just picking off stragglers for fun.
But since every tiny battle shows up on the bloody map, this is almost always impossible.
Easiest fix would be a system that’s already in place. Just needs to be modified for WvW, rather than single zones.
Overflow.
You could get in here with players from other servers, and it balances it out upon entry, so each side has similar numbers. You could still play with friends of course by going in together. But it would auto-balance as best as possible.
The overflow would just be for fun while waiting for room in your own, so it would reset often and wouldn’t have any effect on specific servers.
Still need a few pieces to complete my look.
What shoulders are those?
They are the exotic Twilight Arbor shoulders.
Though, I just bought them and transmuted them onto my crafted exotic :P
The downed state is terrible in its current form.
I made multiple posts about all the problems with it and viable fixes during the beta’s.
But they never changed a thing. It almost ruins WvW for me. Because I can down people a lot as an Elementalist, but I can almost never finish anyone unless I am surrounded by friendlies. Or I down people from Keep walls, just to see them stand up and run off while I dump all my damage in them trying to finish that way.
If you’re selling on the TP then almost no. You’ll likely be losing money.
There’s the odd item you can make a small profit on. But you need to sell like 50-100 to make 1 gold.
Selling on your server to locals can be profitable, though.
Signet of Fire doesn’t have the proper range.
When you activate it to burn a foe, you’re likely “Out of Range”.
This stuff doesn’t exist then?
Any chance this will be changed from Duration Stacking in the future?
I really don’t need 30 seconds of burn on a 10 second fight. It’s not terrible for bosses, but it would be nice to be able to stack burn damage rather than a longer duration.
The whole downed state needs a reworking. Sadly Anet hasn’t even confirmed that they are going to do anything about it.
I can down people all day in WvW. But I can rarely finish anyone.
It’s awesome dropping all your spells on a downed Warrior, trying to finish them off with damage. Then just see them hop up and run off.
Good times.
And yeah, our downed state spells suck. “Might” not be so terrible if our 3 would come off cooldown before someone slams a stake in us.
I’m still working on the Chest/Legs from Twilight Arbor.
Then that’s pretty much it for my cosmetic look. Except maybe if I can find a staff that doesn’t look dumb
The range bug on this spell gets me a lot.
I’ll even move forward sometimes to ensure I land it, and still out of range
Noticed this last night. Made a new character with my friend, when we entered there I mentioned how the FPS in there was terrible.
His reply: “I thought it was just me”. :p
Does any exist? I can craft all the exotic stuff, and there’s no insignia for that.
Has anyone seen any?
I currently wear a full MF set, but would like to get myself a set of Pow/Prec/Vit for WvW.
This thing seems to attack anything “red” within sight.
Its gotten me killed probably 10 times since I put all 6 into my armor.
It should assist the caster it came from and not run off on its own to attack things. Also puts me in combat when I am just running around
Head Gatekeeper Rionna in Lion’s Arch says something weird in her last bit of dialogue.
She’s by the fountain with the funny hat.
Unless I’m just short of reading skills.
There’s a bridge in the bottom left of Malchor’s with a PoI on it. The portal is there.
It’s right by a small town. I had trouble finding it the first time too :p
There’s no way at the moment. Hopefully it’s something they will add soon.
I’ve used the mail quite a few times to sell stuff though. Just offer to pay or be paid half of the amount first, get/send the item, and make sure you type in the body of the email that half of the payment still needs to be made.
Then you can report for scamming and likely get your money back or the other guy banned :x
Often times when I try to go “back” to the list of topics in a forum, I cannot.
It stays in the same post I was reading.
Also, if it does go back it basically does a “reload” of the list, which can be annoying if I saw another topic I wanted to read but it’s moved somewhere else.
I’m not sure if this is just an issue with my browser or something, or if this happens to everyone. I use Firefox.
There’s certain things you can do if you know what to look for. But as prices change they become either non-profitable, or not worth the time.
2 things I have done recently, but have stopped because they aren’t worth the time investment are:
Buy level 70+ rare and exotics for less than 12s each. Salvage them for Ectoplasms and sell them for 18+s each. This is VERY time consuming, as you have to go through almost every weapon and armor and set orders for each one. Then go through them again in 30m or an hour and redo them all, as you’ll likely have been outbid.
I made roughly 20g doing this, but have stopped.
I’m a Jewler so I can make Ruby Orbs out of Ruby Crystals. I buy a load of Crystals for around 5s – 5.5s, and the dust required. Then turn them into Ruby Orbs and sell them for 15+s each. There’s not a lot of profit in this, but if you do it a lot you can make decent money.
You have to keep an eye on the prices though, last night the crystal prices bounced up 1s, making it not profitable. When the price drops again I may do it a bit more.
Also, selling stuff on your server for cheaper than TP listed prices is much more profitable. If you have a large stack of something, or a high end exotic, try to sell it in /map around the big towns.
I refuse to use the TP for selling my Exotic Jewlery, because the cut is 45s on a 3g item. Meaning I lose money. So I can sell it for cheaper on my server, helping out locals, while keeping more for myself.
may i ask you why you are using ur left mouse button to move ? =)
this game is definitely designed to usw WASD to move
that should fix ur problem
we use the mouse to move by holding down both buttons but it often loses target, i cant use WASD because that hand is used for the ability keybinds.
Wow – I guess each player handles their character differently, but this seems incredibly awkward to me.
I generally use WASD (forward, strafing, and rarely backward), using the mouse to turn if I need to. This is in addition to left hand keybinds 1-0.
It is a little awkward. But so is trying to run forward and cast a certain spell, 2 or 5 for example.
I’ll use both mouse buttons to move on occasion when I need to keep moving and cast a certain spell, but 95% of the time I use WASD.
I don’t like how you remain in combat no matter what if you still have a debuff on you.
Auto Loot doesn’t just automatically pick stuff up for you. Do you play this game?
The downed system in its current state blows, hard. Needs some changes.
I also have targeting issues in this game.
I’ll often lose my target when moving my camera to get a better view of a fight, or I’ll end up targeting a friendly or something.
Tab targeting often takes me forever to get to the target I want, even though it seems like it should be the next in line.
Saw this guy last night. Fkn beast!
Had to compliment him and take some screenshots :p
I roll with(leveled to 80 with this build pretty much)and still use:
30/10/30/0/0
With Internal Fire, Pyromancer’s Alacrity, and Pyromancer’s Puissance fire skills.
One with Air for the Air skill. You’ll be able to run around with almost permanent swiftness, though that takes a little bit of time to charge up.
Signet Mastery, Earth’s Embrace, and Written in Stone for earth skills.
This is my “Lazymans Build” I would call it. It lets you keep signet buffs up and still be able to use them. I tend to stick primarily to Fire.
For single target I open with Flame Burst to get burn going, then Signet of Earth(if it’s a melee mob) while dropping Lava Font at it’s feet. By the time you cast Signet of Fire and Signet of Air and toss a fireball or two your Lava Font will be back up and ready to go again. Drop another Lava Font right in front of you as the mob approaches and it should be dead in the next 2 seconds. For longer fights try to use Signet of Earth in conjunction with Lava Font all the time, to ensure it does its full damage.
If the mob is a ranged attacker, just forget about Signet of Earth.
For groups of mobs and dungeons, open with Flame Burst when it looks like you can hit multiple. Try to let your group(if it’s a dungeon) settle in with the mobs before you start dropping Meteor Shower. Then keep Lava Font hitting as many as possible while cycling through your Signets.
Lava Font will do a lot of your damage, since the cooldown is going to be very close to its duration.
In dungeons I like to switch to Water to drop Geyser and Healing Rain into the middle of the fight, then Frozen Ground and Ice Spike on top of as many mobs as possible. Then swap to Earth while waiting for fire to come back up. Use Magnetic Aura if there’s mobs with projectiles, then Eruption, Unsteady Ground, and Shockwave. You may get another Unsteady Ground in before you go back to Fire and continue your normal rotation.
For your elite skill the D-Series Golem(Asura only) is probably the best. It can and will tank vet/champs and bosses. Though for the harder hitting types it doesn’t last too long. You can usually kill a Veteran mob with it with ease though. Tornado is another good one, does decent damage and crowd control. Fun if you like tossing enemies all over the place for the duration. The Glyph of Elementals and Fiery Greatsword aren’t terrible either.
Burning Retreat I almost only use when a melee mob rushes me. I’ll let it come through the fire, then roll forward through it so it chases me through the fire again. From there you’re on your own to get it off you :p
This is a pretty simple build, and I play it as such.
The Elementalist can be played much more complicated and built in many different ways. This is probably one of the easiest ways to play it. If you want something more challenging you should try one of the dual wielding builds where you cycle through every attunement constantly
(edited by Dortmunder.9572)
It seems that whenever I do this dungeon I get rubberbanding a lot.
I do other dungeons fine, play in regular zones fine, can be in highly populated cities fine.
But whenever I get into this dungeon, mobs and party members are bouncing around like crazy.
Anyone else get this? Or am I the only one.
Pretty dumb they would change it now. Since a lot of people already abused that.
So anyone who hasn’t raised Cooking already gets the shaft.
They finally added the functionality to look through all your listed selling/buying etc. in the Transactions section of the Trading Post.
If you were like me and saved a lot of stuff to list while waiting for the TP to come up in the first week, you probably put a ton of stuff up there.
I had something like 360 items up for sale. Just cleaned it all out since almost all of it had competition of vendor pricing.
So help reduce the TP lag, and go clean out all the stuff that’s never going to sell
First you have to buy the recipe for the item you’ll need.
I haven’t done leatherworking, but it probably uses insignias like tailoring.
Go to your leatherworking trainer and buy from him. There should be a tab for recipes. Scroll to the bottom to find the 400 ones.
From there, you need to craft the item. In this case, Explorers Insignia or whatever it may be called. When you have that, put the 3 pieces into the discovery tab and viola! you should have an exotic piece of gear, and the recipe to make more.
There should be some sort of “server trade” option or something, with no tax. So you can sell to people on your server. I can understand the tax because the TP is for all servers(at least for the regions, not sure about worldwide).
But with no option to ‘safely’ trade with people, it’s very hard to sell a high end item without losing 15% of the price.
While some of that is true, nothing you said addresses what I have said.
None of the materials needed to craft exotic are “going for vendor prices”. So it’s not relevant. If anything, prices for the exotic crafting are going to go up. Making it harder to make a profit crafting.
…I’ve found it almost impossible to make a profit crafting exotic armors and selling on the TP.
Looking that the prices for materials to buy, then craft and re-sell an item… you’re likely going to lose money.
I’ve been trying to sell popular exotics(Berserkers Light Armor, Ruby Exotic Jewlery) in /map to people on my server. I usually cut a chunk off the listed TP ones, because I would be saving money since I am not using it.
Almost no one wants to buy stuff through mail though.
Kinda sucks being a crafter and trying to make some money
Seen some on the Trading Post, so must be out there somewhere.
It happened to me the first time I did it.
Was late and was going to bed when I was done. So went to bed after it bugged and came back today and did it ok.
So if you have the patience to do it multiple times then it’s possible.
There’s an additional tax of 10% for selling something on the TP.
The listing fee is 5%
Not that I have found.
Moving in Orr is suicide, sadly.
Fixed.
But yeah, hate the camera/FoV in this game.
There’s already gambling in this game.
In the form of the Trading Post.
As for your idea though, I doubt it would be a problem if it was kept among friends/guildies. Might wanna look at the ToS thoroughly though.
The people selling just over vendor price are losing money. You’ll get more just vendoring all your stuff.
When you go to sell something, if the lowest buyers are just over vendor, then you should just vendor it.
The people listing for that price are idiots basically. After the 5% listing fee and the 10% after it sells, they are usually getting a good chunk under vendor price.
Salvage your 70+ rare and exotics though, in case you get an ectoplasm. You’ll want those for crafting or to simply sell on TP.
The camera in this game needs so much work it’s not even funny.
I’m constantly having issues zooming, camera getting stuck bouncing in and out, gets stuck on things when up close to something.
I actually got bugged after an event and could zoom to max distance, the distance you get fighting large bosses. Was awesome.
Does anyone have the 5g Guild Backpack?
Does it look identical to the 1g one?
The reason I ask is because I was going to buy the 5g backpack, then got the semi-decent Spineguard from my story last night. If they look identical I will probably try buying the 1g one and transmuting it onto my spineguard for a special look.
One of the major problems I have as a Elementalist is that burning does not stack. It seems like every other damage condition stacks except burning.
I play fire about 90% of the time, so I could probably play a different style and be fine. But I really like fire, minus the whole ‘duration stacking’ rather than damage stacking.
What good is infinite burning on a mob that doesn’t take a long duration to kill? Or a long burning duration on a boss? It would be nicer to be able to stack burning to do more damage more quickly.
