I haven’t played since a couple months after release. I enjoyed the game mostly, except for a couple things.
The main reason I stopped playing was the PvP was frustrating as hell with the downed state thing. Is it still there, or was it nerfed or anything?
How is PvP? Is there lots of people in the world PvP areas? They were quite populated when I played. Was never into the scenarios or whatever they were called. Battleground type games.
Most commanders are sitting in town 99% of the time.
Most companies don’t ban players for buying multiple copies of their games. Especially if they are subscription based.
Not sure why it would be against the rules anyways, unless they are botting as well.
Also, you don’t know whether or not they are using 4 different computers or not, that can be done.
The reporting options could use some work though, for sure. Like temp blocking people you report for spamming/gold selling :p
Play an Elementalist if you want more skills :p
Nostalgia goggles all around! You miss loosing out on hours of time just because you lost a random number generator roll? Do you all remember what good MMO population was? 100k subs was considered a AAA MMO.
Taking an hour of travel time to get to a group to grind the same mobs (Which wasn’t a challenge by any means) for two hours to gain a single level? I look back and ask myself why I spent hours a day to outclaim another group for a world spawn that took forever to spawn. If it’s one thing I don’t miss about older games is the amount of time required for anything.
Partially, maybe.
I do enjoy some challenge out of my games, and excitment. With no fear of loss or anything, there’s a lack of excitement.
I’m a big fan of Dark Souls because it’s challenging(less so now that I’ve played it a lot), and there’s the sense of loss if you screw up repeatedly.
Feeling rewarded for your time spent is a big one too. This game lacks that. But I still play for fun, that’s where WvW comes in. Some sort of very drawn out rewards system would be pretty cool though(see: DAoC realm points).
Working my way up to 250g, hoping for some Elementalist buffs, and reading forums.
Planning on playing alts more when I hit 250g :p
Yeah, I miss that.
Games like UO, where you didn’t run around in your best gear unless you were fairly sure you had enough friends around you.
Or FFXI, XP loss and possible leveling down if you died too much. Couldn’t play that game much though, the UI was just too terribad.
DAoC had some XP loss too, loved that game. Till they ruined it. I wish this game had some of the stuff it had.
There’s a necro on my server named Neck Romancer.
Not sure what you mean exactly.
When you put the piece of gear on with 4 more power on it, you get 4 more power.
You’re still getting the 5/6 bonuses from the rest of your gear. So no 10% bonus damage at 90% health. Don’t think that displays in your stats anywhere.
The exotic is giving you 4 more power than the green, which is displayed in your stat window.
I’ve noticed the same thing.
It’s probably the lack of people killing stuff as well. Some events seem to be triggered by how many people are doing something around a heart.
The “dog” farm in Caledon for instance. I did that DE multiple times on one character while doing the zone. On a new character a couple days ago I couldn’t do it at all, the DE would never start.
Couple Vista’s in this zone almost made my flip my desk.
Other than that, didn’t have much trouble. A whole zone immune to blind is cool, though.
I miss the good ol’ days of pulling an entire dungeon to the entrance yelling “CHOO CHOO”.
Elementalist is probably the most “advanced” class there is in the game.
I’d probably go with the Necro if I were you.
1) Purchase on Trading Post
2) Craft it on our own
3) Explorable Dungeon Tokens
4) Karma Vendors
5) Mystic Forge, 4 rares often turn into 1 Exotic. Though getting something you can use would be lucky.
I also have 100% on the in game map. But I did not get any rewards or anything.
I suggested something similar. A bit more expansive though. Something like this would be nice for sure, since often it’s just a few people doing all the upgrades.

What would happen when someone tries to mail you? Does it get duplicated? When someone buys something from you in trading post, do all the accounts get the money?
Seems pretty simple.
Mail would be account wide as well.
When you buy something or sell something on the TP, it’s already account wide. Any character can pick up the stuff.
Where did they go?
Can’t seem to find them or the parts on the Trading Post anymore.
Also can’t seem to find any info about if they were just removed from the Trading Post or if you can still be made.
The “last boss” is a pushover yes. The entire instance prior too him is pretty tedious, though.
The Mouth is probably one of my favorite boss fights in the game though. Tossing fiery balls into his mouth to stagger and make him vulnerable is pretty fkn cool :p
No sexual reference intended.
Downed State: Removed from PvP.
That’s pretty much it.
+1 :p
Would like to see these as well.
Someone must have forgot to put the s instead of c behind the number 67.
I was baffled about this too.
No. You can transmute the piece you put the skin on onto your new piece.
This happened with a Veteran mob in Lornar’s Pass to me yesterday, causing my death
Went to get a skill point that was guarded by mobs 4-5 levels higher. Killed a couple of the non vets. Pulled the vet, killed it. Started to run to get the skill point and aggro’d one of the non-vets, and the vet spawns again right on top of me.
Good times. Said screw it and I’ll come back in a few levels
Town lately. I almost never leave!
Divinity’s Reach and Black Citadel are pretty much the winners in this game for me.
Though I spend most of my time in Lion’s Arch :p
I’d recommend every 10 levels. Either by crafting your own or buying cheap stuff on the Trading Post.
I like to set aside a set of gear through crafting, as I often level the crafting faster than the character. For my Guardian I had a full level 30 set of armor, and a weapon waiting. I also have a set of 45 waiting for him in the bank too. I just fill in the other stuff from the TP if I don’t find it on my own.
If you’re just running around doing hearts all the time you don’t need to upgrade all that often, just use stuff you find or buy the stuff from heart vendors. If you do dungeons a lot, keep your gear fairly up to date, as they can be difficult enough without nice gear.
I do agree with you on a few points. Though I enjoy the game. If you have to make yourself enjoy it then it’s just not for you.
1. I like the classes for the most part. Some need some balancing(Downed State iskitten for PvP).
2. Semi-agree on loot. A lot of it looks so cool it makes up for the lack of stat choice/manipulation. It could be a lot more complex and interesting. Weapon damage types, resist types, one weapon type strong vs. an armor type etc.(see: DAoC).
3. Semi-agree here as well. It prevents you from going to low level zones and just decimating everything. What pisses me off the most is trying to travel through a low level zone, exploring/gathering, and having to fight or get stuck in combat with something you have no interest in fighting.
4. WvW is a zerg fest. I enjoy certain parts of it like attacking and defending a keep. But I also like to roam with a small group of friends. The WvW system mostly discourages that.
5. 100% agree here. I hate the sPvP BG’s. They are all basically the same. I would like to see DAoC style battlegrounds, along with some other types like capture the flag. One or two with a “mini-WvW” would be awesome. 1 central keep to take, and a couple towers around. Sorta like a proving grounds for WvW.
The downed state remains my biggest gripe with this game. I can down people all day on my Elementalist, but almost never finish them. Makes me wanna flip my fkn desk every time.
I have no problem with a Server LFG Tool.
The problem arose in WoW when they did the region wide LFG tool. Everyone could just be ankitten and no there would be no repercussions.
Your reputation on a server should mean something. God, I hate server transfers, too.
Yeah. +1
Also, buying something with gold clearly makes you a leader. Right? … right?
A more definitive day/night would be nice, maybe alternating 2-3 times a day. So those that always play at night aren’t always stuck in night.
Night should be darker too, for sure. Scarier with more ambient night life sounds etc.
Yeah, I notice this as well.
I can take out multiple mobs generally on my Ele, though sometimes it can get iffy, and I may have to bail out.
Whereas on my Guardian I can leap into a pack of 5+ mobs, kill them all in about 5-8 seconds and be able to do it again immediately after.
Edit: Forgot to mention. My Ele is in full Exotic gear, minus the backpack and breather. Guardian isn’t 80 yet and wearing blues/greens :p
For pure magic find, yes. But the parrot the full set bonus spawns can take out approx. 1.5 of a mob on his own, and he’s adorable.
Thatkittenpet… has gotten me killed numerous times ><
It’s also awesome when it pops out in a dungeon and runs off to fight some pack of mobs while your group isn’t ready.
Well, I know you aren’t required to be part of the force that takes the keep. I claimed one last night and I hadn’t been in there since the day before.
It just seems buggy. It’s often when I am in other servers borderlands that I have this issue too.
Yeah, it would have to be decided upon by Anet of course, so they could do it however they wanted. But something along these lines would be nice.
I was curious as to what people thought about a WvW Pool, something that is used for upgrading Keeps and Towers around the Eternal Battlegrounds.
It could work many ways I suppose, but I’ll put out an example of how I would like to see something like this work.
Upon entering the Eternal Battlegrounds, you can open an additional interface menu that allows you to donate funds, karma, or any other currency needed to upgrade a structure in WvW.
The pool could be funded multiple ways.
-Initially at the start of a reset, there would be no funds. Donations here.
-As players take keeps, kill players, funds are automatically deposited simply by player participation.
-PvE in WvW. If a player doesn’t have money to donate, but there’s no action going on and they want to help out, they can kill many of the NPCs around the battleground. Be it guards, or just monsters. When any NPC’s die, funds are deposited into the pool.
-Being behind might give you additional funds, to help you get a foothold. Maybe your side is pushed right back to your portals. The longer this happens the more funds are built up in your sides pool. So that if you do manage to take something, it can be fully upgraded easily by your side.
Just something I would really like to see, since upgrading in WvW can be a very expensive thing.
The Trading Post is missing lots of things I would like to see.
Examples:
Filter by Armor Type(thread topic)
Filter by Price Range
Better “Transaction” view
-notify of loss of highest order place
-ability to place higher “bids” on items from transaction menu
Better searching function. If I search for “of Rage” I get a list of stuff not even remotely similar. Or if I am searching for “Major Sigil” it also lists every sigil in the game.
There’s others I can’t think of atm, but when I am doing something on the TP I am often like, “why isn’t this and this part of the TP interface?”
Northern Shiverpeaks could use a few more good people.
We were the server that had a couple huge guilds come, dominate WvW, then bail. For a week or so our WvW was dominated by our opposition.
Lately though we’ve come back and have been controlling 3/4 of the WvW or more.
I believe we’re a Medium Population server now, and the queue times for WvW aren’t usually long if there is one at all.
Yeah, I doubt there would be a problem with that.
I really wish this game had a macro feature built in. I’d love for my Guardian to /s “Spin to Win” randomly when I cast Whirling Wrath.
Plus lots of other stuff, lol
If we can’t “stay logged in,” could we maybe get an option to save our password? I’ve read that saving your password is more secure than entering it every time — don’t know how accurate that is, but it’s certainly more convenient.
On the plus side, now I have my password memorized
It remembers my password. I still have to click log in twice, but I don’t have to type it.
Don’t understand how having it auto log in is less secure than how my password is already saved and I have to manually transmit it every time I come here, though.
You have to fix the new "Unit Price Must Be Higher Than The Vendor Value" thing

Right click your item and Sell at Trading Post.
Click on it and look at the other current available sellers. Either undercut or match that if that’s what you like to do.
Yeah, I’ve posted about this before as well.
I think the patch notes said that looting now takes priority. But I almost always still talk to NPCs etc. trying to loot ><
A friend and I both agree there’s a problem with how you obtain badges. I play an Elementalist, so I am often “safer” somewhere in the back. Whereas he plays a Guardian, so often in the thick of things.
This gives me more time and more availability to be aware of the loot dropping at my feet. While he’s either spending all his time making sure he lives. There’s an imbalance between ranged and melee for the loot system in WvW.
I suggest that some sort of currency is rewarded on kill, sort of like how you get XP from killing players. Anyone who damages the player prior to their death gets some of this currency, just like XP.
If it’s not badges and some sort of numerical currency(like karma) then add a temporary vendor in that will swap this currency for badges you’ve already obtained.
Possibly leave the item/junk drops how they are, so that people still have to loot them if they want. Or add them as some sort of “auto obtain” on kill as well.
Either way, I think the loot bags for badges needs to go.
There’s a bunch on the gem store :p
The trading system is the trading post.
I’m yet to see a single person selling anything cheaper than in he trading post, and I can’t understand why would anyone refuse to use it, other than trying to scam newbies that doesn’t know of the Traing Post, and such behavior should not exist altogether.
I use /map to sell stuff.
Not sure if you’re aware, there’s a 15% tax on the Trading Post. When you’re selling things that are worth more than a few silver, that can get large.
For example: I sometimes buy mats on the TP for exotic jewlery. If I then try and turn around and sell that back on the TP, I would take a loss.
Selling a 3g item on the TP takes 45s from the price in tax. This means I can sell to locals on the server for cheaper than on the TP, and keep more for myself.
1. Downed State needs a rework
2. Camera, my god.
I like how they fixed the range on Signet of Air, but not Signet of Fire….kitten
Probably would have taken one of the guys 3 seconds to change the number from 900 to 1200 or somekitten.
Yeah, I’ve done plenty of salvaging for ecto’s.
I am curious what to salvage for Orichalcum Ore mostly. It seems I only ever get it from whites, and not 80 blues/greens.
I had been salvaging level 80 blues and greens hoping for Tier 6 mats like Orichalcum Ore, but I seem to only get that stuff from the high level whites.
Anyone know specifics on what to salvage? The 80 greens and blues seem to be better off thrown in the Mystic Forge.
