Interesting changes. Hopefully they will shake things up in wvw a bit. If WvW keeps getting some patches / features on a more regular basis, it might actually be worth playing.

Inquisitor or Seeker , can even see Arbiter work. But
its mostly up to anet to figure out an interesting name. dh is not it, but I am pretty sure they can eventually fix this or hopefully come up with another spec name in the future.

Forgot SCTY, another very cool YB pvx guild.

These are some recommendations,
1. OTG – big mature guild that covers everething from pve/wvw to pvp.
2. Dyak – One of the biggest and oldest YB guilds that is pve oriented, but they have events in wvw and quiet a bit in spvp. They are 24/7 presence guild.
3. TOG – same as OTG, but has more off hours presence.
4.FoW – more WvW oriented pvx guild on YB. They are very active in wvw, and have some great spvp players.
They are still pretty casual though.
5. For smaller casual pvx check AI, BOZ, Loot, and more on the YB server site.

Obtena please quote any of your posts that explain your reasons for liking the name. Half of the posts in this thread are yours so its a bit of an issue to find the specific one out of all of your posts. I am honestly interested. I can see that you are passionate about keeping the name. I respect that. But I just want to see your reasoning for liking the name.

One thing to note. YB is often casual and is decentralized. There is no specific server leadership, warchest, specific rules apart from no tolerance of abuse/cheating. So as long as you are not into trolling, cheating, or telling other ppl what to do. You will enjoy YB.

Why do you think the reasons people are giving are dumb? What are you basing that on? So far you have not actually expressed your reasons for liking the name.
So I am not sure why you are posting in this thread, apart from just enjoying a bit of trolling. Which is fine, but not very productive to the points raised by the op.

I dont even hate dragonhunter as a spec, just cant see it as guard spec.

The spec has to be thematically linked to guard. At this point dh theme feels like a guard that switched professions . But in reality its just a guard with a slow lb. Both chrono and reaper are thematically linked to their main professions. Hunter has to be linked in game with story, more hunting traits, skill descriptions. Or just scrapped for something more imaginative. From their work on classes in gw2 beta I am sure each will change quiet a lot in beta anyway. So not worried. The only issue for a guard is that its so good baseline.

Why do they have to move on? They are perfectly fine disliking the name for whatever reason. Same as your love of the name is perfectly fine. The issue is in ppl telling others how to feel about this. you are not going to change other ppl view of the spec. But do voice your views here so anet can see them and make their own choice.

I am pretty sure anet is fully aware of the issues with the spec at this point. They will either change it or not. But do continue the discussion to keep the thread bumped

Jon is one of the most open to the community ppl at anet. I really doubt that he would mean anything untoward by his reply. I think he really meant to explain his / anet logic behind the concept. I think that the concept and the name are lazy, unimaginative, and confusing. But I know that Jon and the team are being honest in what they are saying(minus any pr people editing their posts) and are listening to us.

Will they hopefully change the name? We shall see. But attacking the few ppl at anet who are open with us is not the way to get this name changed.

As a guard main I really can’t see this working. It just feels that this has not been thought through. I actually like the name dragonhunter, just not for guard.
I can see it work great for my war or my ranger. But on a guard this whole Big Game Hunter just feels like a sparkling cupid hunting deer for kicks.

Because its a ranger spec for a guard. I can just play a ranger if I want to play a ranger. There is nothing new or interesting in this spec, nothing unique like in the chronomancer spec. Plus the name and the whole big game hunting story makes no sense on a guard.

Seraphim is cool.
But pretty much anything that fits guardian light theme.

The name doesn’t make sense.
LB looks ok and virtues look nice.

Traps?They make no sense on a guard but they look cool enough if you just call them wards.

Not liking the name at all. The traps are also meh so far. The thing I like about chronomancer is that its very much a mesmer spec. This spec is more of a guard/ranger with a stupid name. I am not saying they have to change the name. They can keep it. But it isnt really making this spec apealing. I will just call it war/mo from now on.

This spec name and flavor as per info released to date is very unimaginative and cant compare to the last week reveal. As a primary guard player I am very sad that I am more interested in a mesmer spec than in guard one.

Please anet, change this stupid name to something else. Also maybe try to make the theme of this spec more unique rather than guard/ranger. I am still hoping that it will get worked on in beta to make it a bit more interesting.

Looking for more eu, ocx and sea players.

Go FA. They are probably the best choice for being green for a longer time if JQ isn’t open.

Have perma stealth trap/perma cripple trap in front of each gate. This way if someone is trying to kill the tagger, they can with a couple of ppl, guards, cannon. If they cant than they deserve the longer running distance.

Could be a keep upgrade.

There is a lot of lies about YB being spread by the enemy servers.
Like us loving arrow carts. It is of course a lie.
We love trebs.

One thing. YB is very pvx friendly, so if you are a pvx guild that plays ocx/sea/late na, and only wvw casually , we would still love to see you on YB. Most of us are PvX players and welcome any pvx player/guild that avoids drama and has no aversion to siege.

Oh yeah, nothing wrong with ppt. YB breathes ppt. But we like to fight for it. So if you want to fight come. If you just want to ktrain, join another server.

Come to YB and we shall teach you the superior ways of the treb!

Its just zerglings complaining about it. Any decent group can ignore or move around open field siege. Its not useful apart from maybe chokes. In most cases it makes no difference anyway. But yes zerglings will be upset since their small roaming 40 man blob cant blob another brainless 40 man blob in the mid of nowhere, where each can press 1 and be safe from mighty siege that does no dmg anyway.

Basically use it when you need it. I.e. when you have a ktrain come at your keep. But in open field fights its a waste of supply. It works for trolling a bit, but wont mater.

Sea time on YB is actually lots of fun. But only come if you are looking for a fight.
Stubborn and competent? Come to YB.

pathetic and pointless. Keep the farm in game pls so these bots stay in os. Last thing we need is them joining wvw. But yeah nerf the titles + reset the counts. Would be a great laugh. PPl that can kill in wvw, know it without a farming title.

Pls keep the low queues! Its much more fun playing now with less zerglings on the maps.

As for ppl jumping on your poor corpse. I think its in great fun. They will of course enjoy it a lot if you make them hostile to all 3 servers.

Best place to play in NA. very casual community and great range of play styles open to everyone. Sea time is probably the time zone where we are growing the most and have the most fun fighting.

The whole division of ppt/fights is absurd. ppt is just a scoreboard. use it or dont. I find that fights people are generally far more obsessed with the ppt than any other subgroup of wvw. People who like to take objectives or defend them rarely talk about ppt. Its all my gvg/fite guild friends that are obsessed with ppt. Its always 5 :1 in this gvg. We killed a zerg of 35. etc. Its all a kind of scoreboard. pick your own, but in the end you are all about ppt. Its a score. Hate it or like it, but pls stop talking about it all the time.

Deny one bit of reasoning used in my post. Bro, you don’t seem to realize, WvW does not have to be as messed up as it is. Look at EU, the rank 5 server is beating the rank 1 server. The top 6 servers are all within 120 glicko of each other rofl. There’s amazing matchup variety because they didn’t successfully overstack 2 groups of servers (tier 1/2 in our case were heavily over stacked, t1 especially).

I couldn’t care less if you personally prefer to play in tier 1 or tier 2, your preference is unimportant to the discussion, it’s irrelevant. Don’t assume that if you’re in a bad situation, you can just do w/e you want and it doesn’t change anything cus bad situation. Pro tip, you can in fact make bad situations worse. Tier 2 made bad situations worse for half a dozen silver servers, who have to worry about getting unluckily rolled into tier 3 to get beat up on by an over stacked blob server for a week (or in the case of IoJ, 3 months now?)

What you, or anyone else want to do does not mean that it’s a smart choice for the overall game. Sure, by all means, make the game more enjoyable for yourself! I fully support you in that decision, as games are understandably fundamentally selfish pursuits. In the end though it means absolutely nothing, because what you’re doing is STILL bad for the overall game, no matter what you want. A good desire doesn’t mean your choice won’t have bad effects. Have fun on your stacked server, to each his own, but anyone who moves to your stacked server is just making the game we all play worse in the grand scheme of things, making a bad situation worse.

All the pr talk about t2 t1 community is just that, pr. At this point every server in t1/t2 is a brainless queue obsessed guild buying atrocity. Are they forced to stack to keep their server stable? Maybe. But it changes nothing in the long term. Stacking servers leads to long term dmg to the game. We can all spew made up pr talk about fite guilds, ocx fun playing, communities, etc. The reality is that every server has fun communities , as well as its fairweathers, its trolls, its pvper, its pvers . etc. Every server has coverage compared to servers weaker than it is. At least EU is fun to play on.

If you are looking for fun, none-elitist(apart from siege) server to play on, YB might server your needs. Our NA is generally packed, but late NA, SEA, EU timezones are not. So while every time zone players/guilds are welcome, late NA, SEA, EU are the ones that are needed.

Look at yourself t2. You were complaining about t1 guild buying , doubleteaming, rating obsessed state. You are now the same , buying guilds to the point where your full state is a problem, 2vs1s , match fixing ,queues……

Every t2 server right now is a sad t1 replica.
What you need to do is destack every of those servers higher than t3.

The size of the guild will mostly reflect in wvw. I know many of YB guilds welcome guests to missions, so you can try those with them to see if you like to run with them. Post on the server site so ppl can give you more specific info. Gl

GL on DB. Watch t2, though as most t2 servers are very blobby. I think t3/t4 might be much more fun for you if you are ok fighting one of t2 stacks coming to t3 on rotation.

YB is currently looking for more havoc groups, and anyone interested in defense, However, if you enjoy trolling, drama, or find yourself yelling at pugs on any server, YB is not a server for you.

Stay strong SoR! Fought you on your way to lower tiers, one of the best servers per capita. Also run with some ppl who started at SoR , and if they are any indication, your community is fun.

Good ideas. os on 20 is tricky though, I think it would hurt scouting too much, but maybe add it if a server is more than 20k behind?

Apart from TC, Ioj and NSP are great places to play. Both are good fighting servers with a lot of small guild support. If you are tired of brainless t2/t1 blobs come there.

I am not sure about ktrains Buffy. Siege everything and stop ktrains, yes. But not really the server for ktrains.

So you are a roaming small man group that likes fights. Why do you even care about some pugs taking/keeping a tower? Find a zerg and take it apart. if they run away from you , well I am not sure getting into the tower to just kill 3 pugs would be fun anyway.
What you want is to move to another server that is facing a server with a lot of small mans. Try anything vs NSP or IOJ.
