From week two ongoing score and seeing fights so far.
1. FA
2. Hod (going to be close but I still think FA has better guild groups and militia)
Coverage and pop mater, but FA has been in t2 long enough not to fold from one hard week.
3. SBI. They should be able to get 3rd if their ocx can handle HoD and if they don’t collapse from HoD and FA ppting hard.
4. YB, so far militia is holding even in a fight where YB should not be able to hold.
If Militia stays and fairweathers come out on tier 4 weeks they have a good chance at 4 or 3.
5. IoJ very good ocx coverage.
6. CD same.
7. NSP always good fights.
8. BP
9. SoR
No double team so far. YB just turtled during ocx and hod went for fa. We actually hit HOD more, as they have higher pop and easier targets.
Uhm, could someone please relink that posting from Colin, where he requests people what they think on, what WvW needs for changes?
I must have missed that posting either or havent found it yet to read. I#d be interested to read it.
Nonetheless, here my points I think that should get changed /added within WvW or should get fixed also to be more precise in certain cases:1) Fix the Hacks (Stats/Wall/Invisibility/Speed/Gravity ect pp)
2) Add Report Function for Hacking/Cheating
3) Raise all of the current WvW Skill Lines to have 10 Tiers of Perks
4) Merge some of the current WvW Skills
5) Add Class Specific WvW Skill Lines to improve the Class Roles for WvW, like for example Infiltration, Sabotage and Assasination as 3 class specific WvW Skill Lines for the Thief.
6) Redesign the Borderland-Maps, if possible, merge them all together to 1 Big New Map. Use this bigger change, to add alot of the interestign new mechanics from EotM into that new Map.
If a Map Merge is impossible, that at least make each Borderland Map visually completely different and rename 2 of them so that all 3 Maps have own names and own different Mechanics that make each map in a different way interestign to play on then. Nothign is more boring and uncreative, than to have 3x the exact same map in a game.
7) Add more new WvW Skill lines, that are missing, like:
- Medic Mastery
- Golem Mastery
- Trap Mastery
- Honor
- Stronghold Defender
- Tower Defender
- Supply Camp Defender
- Shrine Guardian
That would be some good additions, especially the Defender’s are needed.
Defending in WvW must become alot more rewarding and effective.
Zergs have it currently way too easy to overwhelm places, because as Defender, you get way too easily killed from all the AoE Spam, that clutters the Defense Walls totally full, that you can’t move a sincle centimeter on the wall around, without running into countless AoE damage from foes, mostly Rangers using Barrage, Eles using Meteor Shower, Necros clutterign everythign full with Marks and Mesmers creating on the walls Phantasms.The Defensive Siege Weapons like Cannons, Mortars, Oil Pots are way to weak.
Ballitas are a joke with their silly mechanic, that you need to have a foe in target to be even able to use them. Ballita Attacks must get changed all to be Ground Target Line of Sight-Skills, so that you can fire off the ballista everywhere you want without needing to have first a foe in target to be able to shoot at all.8) Commanders need alot of improvements. Stats at different colored Commander Flags. Followed by special Commands that a Commander should have on the Battlefield. A Player Commander should give his Squad for example the same Health Buff, like running in near of a NPC Commander.
9) Add more objectives in the Maps, that are important to make Points, which you want to keep as long and as oftenly as possible, forcing the players to split up more into smaller groups, so that Zerging gets decreased and smaller roaming Squads are more common.
Just in brief, WvW needs more, than just Supply. Supply should be only one side of the medal, that worls should organize, that it doesn#t run out.
WvW just needs more strategetical important spots, that worlds want to conquer for their ressources that benefit your world.
The Shrines are a beginning, but one, that didn#t got implemented very well, due to the missing WvW Skill to make capturing Shrines more rewarding.
Currently peopel capture only Shrines, if their world has at least not the Minor Stat Buff, or when theres an achievement for capturin the shrines, otherwise, Shrines are always dead spots. This has to change, otherewise was the whole implementation of those shrines a complete waste of time.10) Add more cool and interesting Siege Tools.
You find a Siege Golem boring? How about a Siege Tank with that you can drive through the scenery, while someone other uses the Board Cannon .
What about Asura technology based Siege Weapons, like Mega-Lasers or Thunder Cannons?

1. Hacking and Cheating reporting/response from anet/web team has to change and improve. It is neither effective now nor is it intuitive enough.
2. More tools and features integrating/involving guilds in WvW.
3. Some sort of workaround of the aoe limit of 5. i.e ways to counter blobs and stacking.
4. Real content for WvW. such as new core maps, or changes to the current ones.
5. Better ways to balance pop/coverage that doesn’t involve staking servers as all the Season 1 and Tournament 1 did..

Is information about WvW a joke?
Apart from account bound wxp, which is great, there is nothing new in the near future.
But I will play along.
1. When will we see commander/squad/party improvements for WvW?
2. Is Megaserver system going to be used in WvW in some sort of way, and if yes, will you provide some info in advance for people to discuss?
3. What Server are you playing on We know that Josh bandwagoned to tier1,but I hope that Colin is in mid/low tier?:)
4. Any new content coming to WvW in 2014? (wxp skills don’t count)
I’d love to be proven wrong, but I doubt if YB can stomp HOD or FA. We will do our best to be very annoying though. I’d like to see IoJ/SBI/YB. We would probably loose due to coverage, but NA and EU timezones should be fun.
I really hope HoD is everything people say they are.

Collapse of SOR and now BP in addition to high volume of pve players looking for achievements is the reason for the current score. We still have our militia guilds and some havoc. Yaks will still defend well at certain times, but don’t expect 25man blobs giving you guys gvgs, or even IOJ/SBI level of coverage. Our main wvw guilds are on TC, SoS and HoD now. In a few month YB will rebuild. But this match-up is going to be HOD vs FA.
I agree with locking of servers before leagues, though in the end what difference does it make? Servers that stacked before the Seasons, or Servers that stacked after. Staked servers bandwagon for a bit and then collapse. If people are stupid enough to stack and not have any competition they are welcome to it. Its boring as hell.
As for Yaks winning Silver? LOL. I am on YB, and I love YB as its one of the best casual communities in NA. But with only militia guilds and a few havocs left there is no chance of us getting 1st. HoD is stacked and has good amount of WvW guilds. FA is a T2 server and SBI/IOJ have better coverage. We can probably give ioj and sbi a good fight, but HoD and FA with coverage and all the queues will just roll. PvE players will leave as soon as they have their achievements. There are some people in the ktrains who are dreaming of t1 I am sure. But when they get taken apart by a zerg buster half their size they will go back to champ trains.
Is this ever going to be looked at and prioritized? I know that WvW is a redheaded stepchild of gw2, but ignoring a glaring issue in wvw is damaging anets reputation and that has to change.
There must be an improvement in the way wvw glitches/hacks are reported and dealt with. At this time the tools available are not intuitive, effective or accessible.
This has to change in game and on the forums.

We also welcome PvX guilds that raid in WvW. Yaks has a very good PvE and PvX integration with WvW guilds and Militias. If you are moving with a friendly and mature guild you will be welcome on YB.
Had to post that this was a great post and should be read by every anet employee. Not just the writers, but also the designers and artists.
The only thing I disagree with is with hearing more from our character. Text is fine for me.
1.FA Even without GvG balls they are the most experienced WvW community in Silver.
Plus coverage.
2. HOD They have a lot of wvw guild transfers. And even though first few weeks pve players will confuse the picture they will still be able to roll through the rest to challenge FA.
3.SBI/IOJ/YB – pretty much up to luck. All three are Militia based servers due to loosing main wvw guilds to high/lower tiers. Will depend on match – ups. Whoever gets more pve/fair weathers of these 3 will win 3rd.

6. BP They can actually do very well as soon as they stop killing each other.
I think they Could probably beat yb/sbi/ioj if there was no PVE achievements involved.
7. CD might do much better than 7 if those transfers stay after their first week. But generally fair weather and band wagon players will jump to the winner anyway. If their transfers stay they can do very well.
8. NSP will probably have the most loot bags in this tier.
9. SoR lack of wvw guilds will hurt them in the long run.
We lost PD and RI(we wish them luck and know they will kick kitten on HOD). Gained UL which is a small roaming guild comparable to PD in size. No new transfers that I’ve seen. Most numbers are our militia guilds, and later on fair-weathers swarming to brainlessly ktrain. BP has far better guild presence than YB atm, which is why you do better during prime time. YB still has a bit better off hours coverage so it shows. SOR
was doing much better than I expected and I hope they recover and go up again. But I wouldn’t expect miricles from YB for a while. We need to recover from loosing ONE,SE,PD,RI,EV,TDI, and the rest recently. Thankfully YB is more of a militia server, so even when big guilds move we have people playing.
This will get locked soon I am sure.
The WvW dev team, ie DevonC has never liked to communicate on the forums, or twitch. I am actually surprised that Chris managed to force him to open the old CDI, which he spent explaining that it didn’t really mater. Good luck getting any info from them. Allie might be able to pry some info from him though. There is always hope with tPVP team, but WvW team is a lost cause.
Yaks has a very good Militia presence and good EU coverage for its spot in the ladder. We know how to defend and siege well. Drama free. If you are looking for a laid back place to transfer to give Yaks a go.
Of course they want it killed.
1. Total lack of interest in wvw from the wvw team and the rest of anet, compare the cdi topics, forum sections, etc.
2. WvW team is either understaffed or isn’t kept visible to the community.
The only people we know are Devon who seems to hate wvw with a passion. Hugh, who is a spvp player and thankfully was moved to spvp team. Josh who went MIA on the wvw side as soon as we started liking him. That is all. Devon is the only wvw dev that we have had for a while, or at least a visible one.
3. NO vision for wvw apart from rewards and cosmetic wxp skills that no one really wants anyway. The last blog from devon on wvw strategy at anet was a long time ago, and the massive issues listed there have neither been addressed nor seem to warrant enough dev time.
4. Tournament. Whos brainless idea was that? I am really hoping that it was ncsoft or something, cause even Devon should have seen how this would affect the lower pop servers.
TLDR: They don’t care.
For YB add PD, TDI, RI, POV, LOOT. These are the bigger guilds, not listing smaller guilds.
Say after 1am until 1pm all the objectives give no ppt and can’t be flipped.
For whose timezone? and why is your time worth more than that of people who are on a different schedule than you?
I actually play in off hours, so it would be my timezone that has not ppt per objectives, but ppt per kill. That would be much better than the stupid pvd.

The BL maps have to be redesigned to have more room, and to have some unique theme to make them feel less bland. Moving more AI NPCs and pve elements into regular wvw isn’t going to fix the main issues of coverage and pop differences. That has to be addressed in a scoring system. Also, its time for you guys to show some content in wvw, these Tournament/League jokes aren’t really fooling anyone. Most of my guild are moving to ESO, which they think sucks. But they at least feel that there might be some hope for RVR before CU comes out. All because there is no vision for WVW at anet. YOU need to give fans some kind of idea as to what this will evolve to if you want them to care.Why would the bls need more room? Even when they are queued, the majority of the map is empty. I think we need to just elimante 1 or 2 of the BLS so that it will be more competitive for most servers. even t2 can’t queue all 4 maps during the week.
We need to move away from map blobs and to a number of coordinated groups working a map. Bigger maps lead to map blobs being ineffective. You can’t make the format better by making it smaller. It will just lead to more people leaving to do EoTM.
Only by making WvW more fun on those maps will you get people to play on them.
Another idea:
1. Points per kill divided by number of tags on the kill. So if 1 player kills 1 player his server gets 100ppt. If 2 players kill 1 , server gets 50pts. If 100 kill one they get 1 pt.
2. Periods when keeps/towers do not give ppt, only kills give ppt. Say after 1am until 1pm all the objectives give no ppt and can’t be flipped.
3. Another idea that someone else posted in another thread is to only give ppt for an objective if a supply camp related to itis same color. This way you have to split up and go open field.
The first league generated an enormous concentration process of players onto the server that where expected to win the league.
NA-WvW still suffers from that.
EU-WvW seem to just recover from that.This time it seems to be even worser. Only one winner per ladder (NA/EU) instead of three, and even more attractive winner-rewards.
Is it really your goal to enforce a further concentration process?
Admittedly in the short run this generates a high gem income.But I guess it finally kills any balance nd competetiveness in WvW.

There are far more important issues than what we liked about EOTM. This sort of stuff is why the WvW community feels that they are totally ignored.

interestingly enough, during the first WvW CDI, population imbalance was the most listed problem with WvW. which they actually pointed out and acknowledged themselves afterwards. and it appears their solution to the population imbalance was to remove the punishments for server stacking (queues), and to add incentive for server stacking (the rewards from this tournament).
i’m guessing that there’s a proper amount of crack one can smoke to where that solution actually makes sense, because anyone with a functional brain can see how stupid of a plan it was. unless, of course, they were actively trying to kill WvW for some reason…. then that plan is the best way to go.

Yes and No. I see it as a total farce that will only hurt balance and pop of wvw in the long run. But in the short term it will be an interesting event. Considering that anet is not interested in developing/investing into wvw, this is not too bad. Of course they won’t be able to make changes to wvw during the tournament. “wink”
Could you guys provide some kind of logic behind this new system. I am not saying that its worse than the old one. Just not sure why you decided to do it this way and call it a tournament. Everyone knows that low tiers will have no chance against higher ones. You can see the metrics I am sure. Why call it a tournament and not just a new matchmaking system? The blog post is not really clear as to how its going to work.
I think if you clarify some of the logic behind it, more people will be inclined to like it.

Open field fights are fun. PPT is boring.
This is not a complicated concept…
Moreover, Anet gives not one whit for class or meta balance in WvW, from the 1v1 level up to GvG. Heck, they can’t even balance sPVP. So its not exactly some great skill playing field. FPS is where you find that.
Spoken like someone that has absolutely no clue how open field fighting works. Oddly enough 15v15 leads to some of the most unique and balanced fights in the game.
I don’t know what YB’s ultimate goal is in this game. If they want to be a solid Tier 3 server then their playing style works. If they want to play against servers that can actually defend and respond to their structures, i.e. most T2 servers or higher, then they’re going to have to learn how to do something in the open field beyond roll over and die since everything they try to take will actually have resistance.
True, but mostly we want to have fun, and let others have fun. I think T3 is where we are and should probably stay. This week and the leagues we really went for ppt, it doesn’t mean that we are actually strong enough to stay in T2. Plus at this point why would we? Its more blobbing up there and even though we have people that love to blob, we have people who can’t stand it. Its the same issue SBI is having, if we get rolled by a stronger server our fair-weathers leave. A lot of us were taking a break this week, but after SBI continued their supply troll we went for ppt to keep them from first. I don’t even care if we win or loose this match up. I had fun fighting both SBI and Mag, so I am happy. Haven’t seen any flame rams in camps though:( Where are the true Magumans of yore?
We have a lead of 8.5k now (with 22 hours to go). I will be very surprised if we go onto lose the match from here on.

I like how sbi thinks using space bar is a hack. You can get into enemy citadels just by jumping. Everyone knows that. Especially after the last matchup with you guys when it was the only way to keep killing that glitches trev you kept setting up in there. But that’s right, SBI NEVER does anything wrong. It doesn’t matter that we identifies a spy 2 weeks ago and he only show up online again during this matchup, soon the same stuff again as well as getting caught out in communication with various guilds of yours. But that’s not reflective of your server is it? Or the way you have to blame everything/one apart from yourselves for any problems or losses you have. Even when Mag was in third this matchup they never complained. They just went at it harder. We didn’t complain in this thread about the spies this time after all your comments last time about it being normal in t1 servers but we did a thread in the wvw discussion just to make a record. In fact the only ones in this matchup that consistently whinge about everything is SBI.

Nope the ppt right now is 100% the result of the patch, It happens every single time to SBI, i’m sure it happens to you guys as well, But its always really noticeable on SBI. Huge Drop in numbers usually with PVE content.

As far as the rewards are concerned I think most WvW players are ok with them.
I got that achive without trying. The only thing I hated was the jumping puzzle, but with a WvW guild all you need is to go there once with your guild and get it.
Please don’t improve rewards anet! The last thing we need in WvW is the repeat of a train going through ruins to cap blood lust over an over again.
It was a good bonus to the FINALY ended season, snif, I am off to celebrate regular WvW matchups.

Is money a good enough gate for commander tags?Just a note from a purely wvw perspective. Talking about how big a squad should be. The potential changes being made here if squad management comes into the picture really presents the possibility of pushing grouping in wvw away from 60,70,80+ people on one player towards smaller squads based on having a reasonable number of players visible on a squad and group management window or overlay.
Just a thought as I always like to encourage players not to ball massive numbers in one place as much as possibleand yep erm 30 seems reasonable for a squad tbh (purely personal answer)
I’m in agreement with Screenager on this one.
The element that I feel most people aren’t considering when they ask for 50+ people in a Commander’s squad is the UI.
First off, I don’t think Anet wants to design a fully flexible UI frame that can fit up to 50 people and grow/shrink in size based on the number of players in the frame and customizations by the user. I sure as hell know I’d hate to design such a thing in a game that’s designed on field awareness and watching your opponent, as opposed to staring at bars and panels. Seriously, a 50 person UI frame would have to cover a 4th of the screen to be large enough to see, display each player, and actually present meaningful information.
Now…imagine some of the suggestions of “Oh, you should be able to have the whole map in your squad!” Ideas like these don’t think about the future. There would be no possible way to make a UI frame to support that.
To prevent UI clutter, I too would have to limit a squad at 30 people. Squads that are coordinating together can communicate via the Commander chat tab. Commanders could have the option of granting privilege to Lieutenants to also post in this tab. Anyone would have visibility into the tab, but only Commanders and Lieutenants have speaking privileges. The tab could be added as a filtered selection to appear in the Main chat tab as well (or any tab the user desires).

What about a limited visibility system.
commander sees all of his/her sub commanders on the map.
sub commanders can see 2 groups in their ui.
This way 10 player squad will be effective on its own and a commander can see their position on the map.
Another way to do it is to have a group lead assigned in each group. This group lead is visible on commander’s map. Have squad limited to say 6 groups.
In the end you still need voip to coordinate well, and it might be ok to keep the current system but with a few changes. But hey we can dream:D
A summary of the last few pages:
1) It seems to be consensus that a system allowing commander unlocks for WXP wouldn’t be a good move.
2) A lot of people are interested in a sub-commander or lieutenant system of some sort. One that would allow for greater coordination and delegation.
3) There seems to be a general divide between people proposing a system far more complex than the current commander system and people who just want the system to have more clarity.
People have also been answering Izzy’s questions with a pretty wide variety of experiences.
One thing that is coming up with some frequency is the idea of separating PvE commanders from WvW ones. It’s our goal to not have diverging systems like that. We’d rather build one system that can work for both areas of the game for the sake of clarity. So, that’s another constraint to consider, that we’d be making changes in the best interests of both and not changes that separate them out into unique systems.
I have a couple of other things I’d like to mention. I don’t think we’d want to focus the commander on the guild system. It could be that I’m wrong about that, but it feels restricting to say you can’t be a commander, or a full-fledged one, unless you are in a guild of a certain size. How would people feel if, instead, there were some additional unlocks you could get as a guild commander that only displayed to people in your guild? Maybe if you are in guild only mode on your tag you have some additional tools?
Perhaps the largest question I still have, how would everyone feel if the only changes to commander were the smaller scale ones? The other stuff is super interesting and has a lot of promise, but is also a major task and one I can’t make any guarantees about. I suppose the crux of the question is how priority is the rest of the stuff, if the smaller bits are taken care of? Would the commander system be functional enough with more markers, guild only tags, less suppression, better supplyinfo, and possibly additional marker shapes?
I think the small changes that you listed must be made and asap, to foster growth of wvw and keep it from loosing players. However you still need to release a decent raid interface. What we have now is laughable and is one of the things I hear people complain about when they leave this game. I understand that your pipeline is currently full with other overhauls. And to be fair I would prefer a quick fix here and to get templates sooner than the rework of commander interface.
Prior to my old post from a few hours ago i took some time to work everything out players asked here and some thing i trowed in for myself.

- Supply Info & Squad/Player Info
On the right side of the main screen image i added a ‘Supply Count’ & ‘Player Count’ this is a replacement for /squadinfo and /supplyinfo cause in the heat of battle you rather not want to type! (As extra i added a simple supply count on top that will show after your own supplies.)
- Create Squad
On the left side of the main screen image you see the new and improved ‘create a squad’ here you can select if you rather be a General Commander which everybody can see, or you rather be a Guild Commander which only guild members see.
As you can see on the left side you can select ‘General Commander’ or ‘Guild Commander’ by this you can decide who can see your tag or not.
- Colored Commander Tags
You can also change to color if your tag if you bought the additional books for 10g each on the left side as well.
- Squad Boosts
For players in a squad they get a extra 10% WXP boost this will make players join squads more and make more use of it. This is added on the bottom of the image.
- Team Warning (Raid Warning)
I know this is a copy from other MMO’s but its same like the scarlet invasion give commander a change to use this in order to get people there attention. This can be seen in the middle of the image. Take in consideration that this can be abused so a good system has to be build for this.
- Simple Commander UI
For players who rather not have all this fancy stuff they should be able to put it off in the options menu like Simple Party UIPlease give me feedback on anything you would like to add or see me to change. I will try my best with my limited photoshop skills ;D
This a great simple way to do it. I do think that we should watch amount of commander icons on the map. Its currently clattered at times, and with all the different colors it will be a headache reading a map.
Can you perhaps do a bit of an edit and try different shapes for the commander tags?
Maybe use the ones from spvp minimap.
The problem with commander buffs is the same as with the guard line, it will lead to 5 commander groups roaming ruins. Offensive/defensive abilities are not needed either,
The commander system is needed to organize people in wvw and make game play fun for people who are being organized. It is not there to make a fun progression for commanders or a buff to them in a fight. At this point what we need is an effective way for groups to be coordinated across a specific map and hopefully also unblob game play to some degree. Forcing commanders to level a line will just lead to commander wxp trains. This is already a problem to a degree. I see commanders moving their groups to the worm and varg npcs when they should have responded to a tower being under attack, etc.
