all the time, i tend to use my abilities last as i watch whats on/around the field and build on it if i’m on skype then i will generally not shut up an insist we combo field to maximum potential, in any situation.

as for solo play i always combine too, for example i will throw chaos field down then launch my izerker + mirror blade through it, or if im using sword + torch make sure i get the blast finish form torch itself. (mesmer pov)

Engineers have tons of uses in WvW, every class does anyone who says or asks this should be ignored.

as for least represented? I would say necro or engineer there the the classes i see least of all however when i do see one of these two classes they are generally playing the class pretty kitten well.

i am also on the verge of retiring my Aura mesmer like you said the yoda flip is cool but i do find it easy to spot an asura over any other race because there animations are all awesome and do say ‘’look at me!’’

well i say retiring Asura Mesmer….only the Asura bit is true mesmer is just brilliant will never put it down

I would personally go Charr, they look bad kitten when you finally get the right gear, my Asura Mesmer is 80 and while i love him and all the animations there is something about playing a big ol’ charr that is infinitely better mainly beacuse of the size of the weapons + gear.

any good player can distinguish clones from the original, any slight movement or animation gives them away so race really doesn’t make much difference imo.

as far as i am aware MF doesn’t do much, everyone i have asked said they wasted there money on those sets + items.

You guys haven’t commented on what I said about the Charr and Asuran races. I don’t think anyone can deny that most people really don’t like to play those races. This game just doesn’t have enough cool races. People want to play epic characters, and that means being a race that you think is cool. Look at WoW, a lot cooler selection of races… blood elves, night elves, orcs, dwarves, goblins, etc.

I think it was a joke, i mean playing a small Asura a deep dwelling being forced to the surface, a Huge Animal from the dawn of time, a living Plant, Human, Northerner (norn) sure is boring (jk, ofcourse)

these are much more original, well plant lady, asura and charr than anything WoW offers.

you use WoW as an example lets break it down;

Human
Night Elf (human tree hugger with pointy ears)
Blood Elf (human even in color with pointy ears and a crack….magic addiction)
Gnome ( a really really small human)
Dwarf ( a small, but not really small but muscular rock dwelling……dwa…human)
Undead ( literally a human walking and talking corpse)
Worgen ( a human that transforms into Tyler from twilight)

Goblin – fair doo’s still not original.
Orc – Fair doo’s, again not original.
Panda – well a panda is a panda.

- i am not saying Warcraft lore sucks, in fact i love there lore outside of the shambles of lore WoW is, but it really is not anything special.

Guild Wars and GW2 and with there created lore, sure they have there own cliche’s and things but ultimately it is more original than what warcrafts is.

I for one have had enough of Elves.

Sylvari are pretty much elves in essence anyways, very similar with all there tree’s and plants.

however to people saying ‘’there has NEVER been elves in GW lore’’ your right there has not been a sniff of them however they could be added at any point, for lore sakes they could be very much to themselves in the far reach’s of Tyria.

if elves ever where added i would hope the typical ‘’tree hugging, nature loving’’ elf would be gone and although i am sure you would still keep there elegant / tree house type of stuff i would hope they would be more dangerous and rugged and mysterious and un-playable.

again Sylvari are very similar in essence to some portrayals of them.

however i think Guild Wars is striving for there own lore and trying hard to not repeat / exhaust all ready exhausted arch-types of fantasy tales.

warcraft, WoW, Hammer4000 (board game and game), Magic the Gathering, LotR (obviously) all have elves and very similar arch types… i dont know but if you ask me Guild Wars is the most refreshing MMO (and RPG) for lore in that regard you can activley see they are trying to make there own stamp on the genre.

I bet £100 a lot of them are done, just need finishing touches.

usually business look forward when releasing a game and have expansion content somewhat done or close to it.

you can equip duel bolts, duel incinerators too they have no unique tag.

that’s someone dual wielding the daggers, can’t find anyone on tube with bolts but i’ve seen them on Far Shiverpeaks in WvWvW

the ‘’I want YOU!’’ propaganda poster from (WW2?) was artwork created to be mass produced and used as media.

its one of the same, media just strem lines certain aspects.

for a writing example, the Game of Thrones TV adaptation was recently referred to as ‘’a fantastic art form’’ JRR Tolkien books are also referred to as ‘’works of art’’ as is Shakespeare’s plays, etc.

i agree it is not any more difficult but some people are not comfortable or don’t want to mess with those things so that’s understandable.

as for putting strain on the system if your only using fraps, or any other capture program just for screenshots and that’s putting strain on the system then there is something horrible wrong, the only time these programs put any sort of ’’strain’’ on a system is when the video recording option is being used, even then it is normally down to you yourself using a wrong Codec option and settings rather than any problems, ofcourse if like me you have an older system you might get some or extreme lag during and only during recording.

any problems while using fraps or any other recording / capture software while a game is running…again apart from video recording this should not happen, they are separate entities and the software does not delve into any sort of folder or anywhere near that of the games you choose to record or take a screenshot with, and takes up less CPU power than most virus programs, skype, msn, the browser even as without recording it is ’’idle’’ in the background.

i was merely posting an alternative which a lot of people i know use for various reasons, some record as well for youtube, some don’t and just like the quality of shots it produces, the guy does not have to do this if he doesn’t want too i was just making him aware there are other ways of getting the same, or better results.

i think GW2 does the World PvP thing right a separate map has surely made most topics you see about ganking non existent.

just download a screen capture program, the free version of fraps will (or used to) give you HQ screens, you don’t need to mess with command lines if you don’t want to.

i don’t see the problem with them being together they are far enough apart to not be accidently clicked.

as for not representing when you create a new character i imagine this is due to you can be in 4? at any one time and you may want to represent a different one to the rest of your characters…..

As the tittle says, is cooking worth it? i am only 80 for a couple of days really and loving everything (still exploring etc) but is cooking going to make my life THAT much easier?

is there anything bound to character? i mean..could i use it to instantly (close enough) level a charater up a bit or will i be missing the proffession on my ’’main’’ ? i have enough matts stocked up to get to 400, easily.

To be honest i liked there lore and coming out from living inside the world, fantastic opportunities i would LOVE to see an area added exploring the underneath of Tyria that has huge potential if you ask me both for world events and a new living story.

other than that the attitude is great! big headed, kitteny, tough as nails for there size, positive, great outlook on life (Tyria) etc, there great i was a bit disappointed with the personal story to be fair but it was a nice start and introduction to the race.

now my question – how old are Asura’s? seriously they’ve lived under Tyria for all this time how old are they? do we know? could turn Tyria’s history on its head

downside: cant see gear that well, however animations are sweet and easily the best in the game, most fluid too.

i thought when you dodge as a thief you kind of ’’stealthed’’ or ‘’faded’ out of existence for a momento so i gathered it was a design choice as to why it was not there.

does it show on other races? also, thief is distinguishable by the unique dodge animation anyway

If you don’t agree with these terms you probably wont agree with many terms forms in life, if at all.

when i started at head start it was busy, now its packed out seriously i see more people every other week at least.

GW2 as with any other free MMO is tough to really say how many people play as all accounts are flagged as active all the time, i’m sure they detect server traffic and such and can get an estimate though but there not going to release that information.

For Example when WoW stated ‘’10million players’’ what they actually meant was ‘’10 million ACTIVE accounts’’ that included bots and china / middle east that sector alone counted for a couple of million, more by blizzards estimate, as when it was banned over there 3million active accounts dropped off of the face of the earth until they re-instated ‘’pay by the time you play’’

now 3 million copies sold, content released EVERY month no matter how big or small that is a fast churn out time and i have been pretty happy thus far, the world feels far more ‘’active and living’’ than any other MMO i have played because of this new story shoots taking you to different area’s one time events etc its all more…i dunno intriguing.

anyway my main point is on a F2P game you come and go as you please so…one day you have a couple of mill next day you have less…..new patch more, after patch is old less…ya’know….

T3 Cultural? just make it tradeable to the merchant of the new race or literally refund to cost at a ‘’refund merchant’’ really not difficult, as for personal story just make it reset and not give any new rewards as you have had them all ready.

fact is it is going to happen it is not difficult just more time consuming than a name change or appearance change that is all,

i would also put engineers on top with a mesmer/elementalist a skilled one will wreak havoc and you can certainly tell when there doing just that.

Desolation is not dead, as Danikat said when you posted this at 6am UK time, that is when people are either sleeping or getting up to go to work.

when i get home and play on desolation between 8pm-1am everywhere i go is packed of people everywhere (except on patch days, always been this way as there is normally new builds every hour or so for a while, peeps dont like to be interupted by anet builds)

i am now on far shiverpeeks as a freind is there and i wished to play with him again and again this server is packed full everywhere just like deso, if anything Far Shiverpeeks have higher populated ’’levelling’’ zones too in my expereince.

out of curiosity where are you playing from? some american servers are 5hours behind us (well time difference wise) from the UK so you will just end up playing at 1am-6am or w/e and have the same experience there, so what is your time zone / country?

I honestly don’t see a problem its just a skin no matter how much you want them it is not pay 2 win so not much wrong with it to be honest.

Incentive thats all it is an incetive to make people use money in the gem store there is NOTHING wrong with this as they need to make money to support GW2 somehow, granted if they just did a gem store ’’update’’ and added a ton of stuff that would flow naturally but meh if this is what they choose then its fine, also alot of people are doing it so im sure there getting a lot of mula.

and ‘’white knight of Anet’’ call and tag these people as much as you like but the fact is you CAN buy them with in game GOLD so there is no need to pay real money if you have enough or wanted to farm the gold.

if they had the trinity it would be,

‘’we can never bloody do world bosses because we can’t find tank or healers, this is a joke!’’

in all honesty world bosses….its just the nature of them everyone wants the shiny stuff so we all, and i mean all (you can see this through culling, though i know patch turns it off) just turns up and plays wakamole.

now in WoW the old world bosses where very much the same however they are now a bad comparrison so taking the Sha into account thats turn up and play wackamole after waiting 5 hours for a healer and 2/3 tanks.

Oondasta is turn up and play wackamole with the new loot system in place (much like GW2’s tag and collect) the only difference between these types of wackamole is one has a waiting time for healers and tanks and the other? doesn’t.

now as for dungeons every dungeon i have ever done in any MMO in recent years has been tank and spank, GW2 is quite frankly a nice change having to support the team while taking care of yourself and not relying on a healer is fantastic.

EDIT: now i’m not saying GW2’s system(s) are perfect as there not but nor are any other MMO’s they all have there negatives and positives.

Guild Wars 2 is about a lot more than just hitting 80, it is about the journey do not rush or feel like you have to rush you wont miss much and will regret it later on, do hearts, save karma, run story mode dungeons, collect gear, craft, explore the maps, just really have fun, get a guild who is either level focused or nice enough to lend a hand etc.

now that is very hypocritical of me as i hate having to level so personally i rush the leveling then go back and enjoy the story and everything from start to finish, however i have decided to re-roll from my Asura Mesmer to a Charr Mesmer mainly due to dye’s and gear not being visible which really bugs me especially if i put in the time to get it on my Asura so this time i WILL be taking my time and going slow, enjoying and exploring everything i actually enjoyed exploring the maps while leveling on my asura anyway the experience at the end was a nice lure and was a VERY nice break from the repetitive quests of other MMOs, gw2’s leveling in my opinion is ace.

I think to be honest you would like either Elementalist or the Mesmer, the elementalist has been talked about but what i will add is the amount of combo fields they can self – use are incredible and if you get the attunement switching and combo fields down, spectacular.

- think of that like the old style aspect switching, ice trapping and pet management all at once to get your burst off as a hunter. (pvp yes but best way to describe it)

Mesmer:

you can do basically everything with this beast it’s my favourite class so i am probably biased but you can do a glamour build which basically supports your team with reflection fields, DoT (condition) removals while also providing defensive buffs and the like.

you can also go shatter glamour so you will shatter and damage until your hearts content while also supporting.

Phantasm – out and out damage really.

immortal mesmer: build to grant Boons to yourself and allies revolving around reflection, distortion and healing (you will still put out a ton of dps with this build too but more over-time than anything else)

you could pick ranger if you wanted too but i think it is a let-down compared to some of the other companies rangers / hunters, the potential is there and there not a bad class at all however some things don’t work and are not effective enough to make so much of a difference, they can defiantly support and dps though.

EDIT: pop into heart of the mists and hit dummies, look at traits and builds and join in hot-join PvP to get some expereince on the class and see if you like them, its all free and instant there and is the best way to check you can also go to the PvP wardrobe there and preview all different types of gear and weapons available to check races and looks.

i didn’t say it wasn’t aloud to bother other people i said i don’t see why it should / could but each to there own.

the ratio yeh sure its a slight eye candy trick but….meh, not many people will use laurels to buy shards even if it was 1:1 so…i dunno i just don’t see a problem to be honest, that’s my opinion ya’ll entitled to your own though, ofcourse.

though yes Norns seem to be the hunter type though to be honest i find there builds too muscular to really portray a ranger but each to there own.

funny, i have actually been trying out what sounds like the same build for a couple of days now, be interested to see the differences! and aye your link doesn’t work.

mercury is spot on really, as for active servers i personally started on desolation which is packed full of people everywhere, but due to the ‘’hide and seek’’ in keeps at T1 in WvW i got bored and went to join a friend on far shiverpeeks and that server is also packed out everywhere i go and WvW is much better there, more action.

I would honestly say that i myself from 40-50 thought the game was quite even though lots of map chat was going around however once i broke 50 then i started seing so much more action and people.

another idea would be to go to lions arch and just say in map chat ‘’looking for some buds to level with and have general fun!’’ i got a ton of replies and met a lot of my contact list (outside the guild) that way.

I use Laurels to buy lots of things, to contrary belief i have no interest in ascended gear and am using my laurels to make me some money.

as for ‘’is it meant to appear that we have different ways of getting shards’’ sure, but then you do have a different way so it doesn’t appear to be different, it is different.

to be perfectly honest i don’t see why this would or should bother anyone, don’t want to use laurels for shards? then don’t……

I personally see no problem with RNG but there is a way to go about this while retaining the current system too;

Keep the RNG as it is now – no change, no ones put out.

Bosses: give them there own loot table with a couple of unique skins sure make them a low drop rate but have the kill earn you 1 drop out of there unique loot table and the rest of the items be RNG so you have a chance at getting that X item you want from X boss thus encouraging certain dungeons but while retaining the current system.

2 birds with one stone surely.

I understand why torch phantasm is frowned upon in PvE but in PvP? i can counter a thief with that thing, not only that in pve if you time it right you can get big attack reflected.

back to topic though, no don’t switch them staff works fine as it is so do NOT fix something that isn’t broken, if torch needs a different or updated phantasm then what needs to be done is a re-design of that skill, leave other well alone.

maybe it was the way i always used Decoy but personally i don’t notice a difference.

as for karka’s feedback and they kill themselves more or less, you also have a dodge button too, use that while you invis and all is good.

hmm, only thing i could suggest is try DX11, DX0 is quite old now, also lower the resolution to something silly like 600×420 or something then slowly go up see what happens during the tests, might do nothing but might be a work around until the manufacturers have sorted it out.

up side is you have warranty so they have to fix it, silver lining!

aah ok, the best thing to do then would be to let the guys isolate the problem as they will know a lot more about that particular model than i could find around however i have found that a few people have had this problem and the general ’’solver’’ was to turn off windows automatic updates and roll back the driver software.

Run diagnostics on the computer (restart the computer by holding FN and Power button simultaneously) let the diagnostics complete.

p.s.s. check the airvents, make sure there not full of dust, i doubt they are but that will add to whatever problem you have.
