Just turn Map Chat off and turn it on when you want it?
personally i have had 0 problems with map chat as of yet.
BWE1 would not of had this many people active in it Kipz, thats a massive factor.
you can google and see a few the GS looks fine to me : http://i.imgur.com/G4342.jpg anyway i would much prefer to still be an asura i LOVE char and Sylvari females but…Asura is by far the least stiff and most fluid thats why i love them so much that and the thought of being a powerhouse the size of a wine bottle cork is awesome.
i would prefer to pay for a proper expansion to both support Anet and GW2, not only that as they would get sales they could probably push the boat out a little more on content :P
before nov 15th people complained about no progression and nothing to work towards and not enough to do on a day to day basis and that the ’’gear’’ was pointless to farm.
no matter the company there are always sections of people that are not happy.
its not necessary to grind new items, so if you don’t want to (unless for looks) then stop an don’t it does not punish you in GW2 to the extent of EVERY other mmo to my knowledge.
Asura name ’’Mentalblock’’
Mesmers start off slow but around 20ish they start to ramp up, at 25 you’ll feel completely different and it just gets faster from there, at least thats what it felt like for me, and i suppose that had a lot to do with trait points.
i personally run a GS / Staff build focusing on Condition + Power+Crit / Toughness, i am a beast atm at 46 nothing can stop me, in 50 area’s atm collecting some nice drops, my gear isnt great either, 40-46 lvlish.
my playstyle,
single target: GS mainly not much need to swithc to staff, if i do its to blink away and summon phantasm.
Multiple: start off with GS 2 then a phantasm, follow up by the AoE from the staff get a mage combo the field with my own casts and the mages wait until a clone/tasm is short of hp, MW > GS, push back if needed and 2 then there pretty much smokes, tbh GS is fine with move #2 for aoe atleast atm.
i go with mirrors / heal / blink / invis+clone / moa or veil

nope, the code is like an in-game ’’link’’ to the item so to speak, right the correct code and the item is linked
i don’t feel obligated or time constrained in GW2, the fact is the gear doesn’t really make you that much more powerful so you don’t HAVE to do the ’’grind’’ unlike in WoW where if you decided not to grind a reputation, or in Aion if you didn’t spend your time grinding gear or even in EQ / DIII (and DIII isn’t really an MMO more a co-op) then you where close to useless at stage ’’X’’ or from dungeon ‘’X – onwards’’
as long as you know what your doing you can handle pretty much anything in GW2 and while you are progressing (if you wish to call it progressing) you will be earning these things without really paying that much attention to it.
that to me is not a ’’Grind’’ reputation grinds and the like of which i mentioned above; thats a grind to me (levelling in Aion is a great description nearer launch when the only way to lvl was to defeat veterens/rares at the rate of a brick rolling down a hill)
This is an RPG MMO – things will always be added and will always take time to get ‘’working towards it’’ is part of the MMO building philosophy until a company says ‘’screw this for a laugh lets try it like this, screw the losses lets make a leap forward’’ things wont change inherently much.

hmm, are you sure you don’t have or have set something from the network settings / firewall to not allow GW2 to connect?
also try running as administrator (Right click, run as…)
i really don’t think this comes under a grind, its your choice if you do it or not, it is not going to make or break your playing experience, personally i’m going for legendary’s, WvW fame and fear, exploring and generally playing with a guild once i find a good one which to be honest is once i transfer to far shiverpeaks – friend is there.

shift 1-3
mouse 1, 2
shift mouse 1,2
Q/E strafe, W run.
i run GS / Staff and i have never had too much of a problem with thieves well used CD’s sort them out, once i’m home from work i can elaborate.
Honestly i didn’t want to as i ’’new’’ i hated them but when i wanted to try out a ranger i thought…. sylvari felt like the right race to be and then i got hooked on the story, so loving them now and i don’t hate the at all, in fact there my second favourite (Asura first :P )
Engineer is a fantastic and quite a powerful class when played right but be ready for frustration the profession requires a lot of micromanaging and combo’ing together to get the most out of it and constantly switching between packs/grenades/weapons
just watch the one that’s not a clone move around differently, its really not rocket science and lets be honest the whole style of a mesmers game play is built around annoyance, with out there clones the’ll be useless.
different movement / weapon switches / different skills are all things to watch out for the great sword clones only use that one certain attack when you see a big ‘’Whoosh!’’ go tag him, play defensive, stop moaning its there style of play.
, a thief can do a CnD, Steal, Backstab and HS combo that will destroy the NPC.
——————————-
So watch your back, i fail to see (or notice while playing) any problem with this mechanic, it gives another dimension to the fight which really in my opinion shouldnt be complained about.
you can always halt DPS and wait for the stealth to expire before you continue if/when you notice him.
.
but yes please focus on a ladder system.
Esports.
if GW2 enters Esports the’ll be an influx of players.
in other words, competitive, GW2 is currently like football without a premier league, pointless.
how is it not PvP? its a different type of PvP yes but it’s still PvP, some organised guilds are incredibly fun aswell in world PvP.
PvP – Player Versus PLayer
PvE – Player Versus Enviroment
PvEvP – Player versus Player Vs Enviroment (Aion springs to mind with this type more than GW2)
just because WvW is not in a sandbox does not mean its not PvP, quite frankly take your head out of your kitten
you can get a live audience Via twitch, though if you see the viewing numbers its only regulary around 400-900. if you want a good amount of viewes on a single stream you will need some solid advertising and PR before doing this, once you have done a succesfull ’’live’’ tournement then the next one will be much easier.
you could do some PR on popular sites such as mmochampion, curse, tiwtch itself, forums. and as much as people hate him, Athene is good at PR ing tournements it may be worth getting into contact with him for some advice on how he went about it for his charity scheme (which raised over $1m btw).
all in all, you need viewers thats my main point and theres variations on how to go about getting them.
ofcourse if your going this big then sites like MMOchampion/curse you would either need to persuade them to let you advertise free of charge or pay them.
ofcourse with twich comes the problem of ‘’follow X player’’ or do you take away one player from each side and you (the organiser) runs around with a char commentating. lots od details to think about, live tourneys wont be easy with GW2.
unfortuantly no.
as much as people say they hate ‘’carrots on a stick’’ dangling that infront of the player base really does keep them a reason to keep going, unfortuantly in GW2 its all self motivated, im not saying you need to be pointed to ‘’go there, do this’’ but for example the legtendary’s…stat wise are…underwhelming if you put THIS much effort into crafting something then you really need some what of a reward.
i like arenanet, there one of the few companies left that actually care, or atleast seem too though in my opinion they need to move away from NCsoft.
yes very much. im still enjoying too its my ’’alt’’ game and i have tons of stuff left to do.
i honestly dont see a problem, phantasm builds where ridiculious IMO and needed some sort of change, i dont view this as a nerf just a way to stem some damage without nerfing the damage itself which to me is better and for PvE purposes we have tons of ways to get clones out for decoys and in all honesty if people cant ’’adapt’’ then theyu shouldnt be a mes in the first place.
My opinion: Underpowered Engineer - It is realy bad at pvp and pve
in Engineer

I’m personally running a complete healing tanky build, everything is centered around surviving, healing and holding a point, last night i held it against 3 people for 5 minutes while waiting for backup, when backup arrived i was almost dead but they stomped them and we went on to win it.
thats one example but i personally feel engineers are fine, the problem is we have ALOT of skills, (up to 34 i beleive if all packs + medikits?) and we can switch between them very fast too and i beleive some people dont utilize them to the fullest potential (not saying i do, far from it, but im competent enough)
my other favourte build is my grenader semi-glass canon and he does tons of damage.
Considering each race has a different personal story I think this is borderline impossible.
not at all, they will just either
A) Reset the entire story
B) have the story status as completed
easy really, the coding now thats the difficult part.
i dont want to see a race change this isnt a game all about endgame so theres really no need.
i love GW2 i really do however atm i have taken a break to get 90 in MoP for the PvP season, once thats started im going to be on GW2 and only log off for arena’s with freinds.
GW2 is spectacular i love the approach to end-game and the entire game itself, only thing i hope is they add more content for the 80’s while i dont want a gear treadmill simply new dungeons and world-boss type events would be good just to keep those ‘’we have nothing to do’’ rushers and whiners happy
i agree it bugs me too, what also bugs me while were on the subject the Scale of sheathed weapons on Asuras are the wrong proportion size and nearly always have clipping issues, ontop of that when you draw the weapon they also ’’grow’’ to the correct proportional size.
i agree with DusK.
I personally think people just need practice, the fact this game doesnt hand a cookie-cuttie esque spec to the player son a silver platter is a good thing in itself.
however what anoys me is when i use /s when im putting a combo field down in random sPvP or PvE and people take no notice of it whatsoever, it effectivly halves the skills use, hell in one dungeon some player moved around and away from it so the he had 0 effect on it….argh.

with the size of the WvW maps and the mind numbingly boring runs around where theres no action except a chicken and a wolf hitting each other, and a tree i would greatly appreciate mounts in this setting.
however if a player hits you = a dismount.
p.s. and a simple wolf, horse, rock dog, or anything simple would do.
if theres a stalmate on a bridge, i will first drop a portal go into invisibility mode and knock as many down with illusiary wave as possible, blink behind them drop my exit portal and some (not usually all, after ive typed the plan) will flank them, then and only then i drop feedback.
to make sure i dont get insta gibbed i make sure i have my invisibility/condition build active and it manages to de-target me enough to allow me to survive until i portal out, obviously sometimes i die but its hella fun when it goes smoothly.
as for more on feedback it is a strategically incredible powerfull tool and as started above, its not about the killing all the time.
As nidwin said let us know your plasystyle preference then we can go into some detail.
im on Desolation and play most nights from 9pm onwards, if you want to play some hit me up im happy to talk, play, help with gear and builds/adivce and w/e i can to help really.
P.S i play both pvp and PvE but i prefer PvP :P
Mesmer – 44
9/10 fix illusionary leap and give feedback field an ground target tag and then 10/10.
(playstyle 10/10 anyway)
while i understand the DE’s farming cap at the same time this could work against them and push people out of the areas, Anet need to keep an eye out so this doesnt happen.
i would hate it to be limited to your current target, for instance i can be holding up and locking down a more healer/tanky specced support spec of a class or two and then use the mind stab to apply vulnerability to my team(s) target, thats invaluable in my eyes or vice versa.
persaonlly i have ground targeting off so i just use my cursor for quicker aoe spells/attacks, feedback though i want to be ground targeted its real frustrating
well be inventive then and organize your roamers to stop the treb being rebuilt, your scout can shout it and even come to help aswell, depending on team and situation your in at the time it may be no problem to spare two people to destroy the mesmer.
even better get an engineer to blow him off the edge of the treb’s edge, not even any need to kill him then.
while i think the mesmers portal is great for gameplay and strategic moves i can understand the frustration behind it and being a mesmer myself i would hate to have this utility taken away or changed but i would not be against it either as i would understand.

the direction is Esports and competitive PvP play thats there goal but it will not happen overnight the game could of been in beta for another year and you would still have all these things needing to be ironed out a game of this magnitude wil never be perfect and you have to accept that.
when you see a big pool of whirling clear oddness on the ground thats a mesmers portal, wait and attack him when he ports back?
whether or not you kill him doesnt matter but atleast you can hold them up to even the field for a little bit and depending on the mesmers player you may kill him with ease.
wow gave us a world to explore too, got more of a point?
WoW gave you a map with directions plastered all over it.
i agree this game is fantastic for exploring and i only think it will get better, the vistas are also a great idea they get people out and about to the remote parts which may otherwise be overlooked, great map design.
this is ridiclious, seriously, you expected a game and didnt get it? seriously how long have you been playing day/week ? im not judging but it sounds like to me you got more than your moneys worth and if your a completionist then wait for the first update thats all thats left for you.
P.S. WoW hasnt had an update in almost a year (or is it over now?) that to me is neglect and warrants complaints especially as its sub based and if this game had 0 updates for a year then yes i too would be aggitated but…argh its been 3 weeks so what 542 hours? the devs do sleep, eat, shower, live too you know.
my bet is if this game was 3 years old you would still complete all the content in a simular time frame and still complain.
what Amiron said.
i honestly obliterate things.
The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

I havnt witnessed this just yet, certainly strange indeed i remember this happening with Aion too at launch.
thanks for adressing and aknowledging Anet.
Make sure you’re using the discovery pane, you will level crafting a LOT faster that way. Wouldn’t want to be trying without it !
oh? thanks for the tip i’ve been neglecting that panel!
tonghts mission if i choose to accept it: the discovery panel challenge.
oh and steve sorry but i love the downscalling its a great solution to high level speed-mob farming, you still have an advantage anywho though.
as far as we know they could already have a team working on content for future patches/expansions, though I would not expect them to be complete and ready to roll out for some time yet.
completley, im 110% certain the first expansion is in the works already after the great reception GW2 has got so far, companies often reveal that the concept for the first maybe even the second expantion was conceieved enduring devolopment of the original tittle, ofcourse all company’s work different
all Male, i cant play a female does feel right personally plus i like the armor more on the males in most tittles.
i think 3 months, so around Xmas holiday times? is a pretty respectable expectation i wouldnt urge anyone to expect a big update but some new DE’s or ones to replace a few, a new zone or dungeon opening perhaps im sure Anet have a plan and there are separate devolopment teams I.E. bug/fix/optimising team then a world devopoment, class etc etc as we all know so…i would say its respectable however i wouldnt put any money on it, prio at the moment is making the game stable and if people have ’’finished’’ it then thats no different from any other game on the planet.
we all play at different paces but ill use myself as an example bar a week where i was on holiday i have been playing regulary each day and im still only level 37 and definatly have not scratched the surface!
go and look for it or look for the shiz to create it, wallah!
i agree though the TP up and down is starting to get frustraiting and i dont even use it all that much!
I reckon the first few minor patches will include updates to DE’s and advance some areas and stories, and if halloween counts i reckon we’ll have something there too, not permanent but around for 2weeks maybe.
as for the first ’’real’’ content patch i would expect it to be a little while maybe in-time for the Xmas holidays as the soonest i would say and thats pushing it aswell in devoloping terms.
skip to 2.09 and watch for about 5 seconds, is that not a Z axis? i personally do stuff like this all the time up walls.
all credit for the video goes to the creator.
edit: am i the only one with ground targets turned off, so it goes to wherever my cursor is?
(edited by DrixTrix.7168)
Regarding your answer to #2: Does the AI actually get confused or is it a result of their attack animation resetting when a new “object” is within range of melee?
Also regarding your answer to #2: when sword/sword abilities are on CD, and I switched to Greatsword, I would feel like I am not doing the damage that I can if I stayed at max range and whatnot. If I am in melee range, just finished getting off a frenzy, all things are on CD, I could switch to greatsword but wont the damage be pretty meager?
Thanks,
it would be meager when there close to you ofcourse but if you have illusinary wave (the push back) you can get at range with doing nothing and the auto attack will do respectable single target and also applying a new stack of vulnerablity + might will up your and your phantasms damage when you switch back, so while things are on CD make sure you optimise and manage the uses for more damaging uptime.
to get back into melee for another blurred there’s always leap up again or teleport when you unlock it, we have lots of options to get in and out of melee range at a whim.
it looks to me as the AI is confused as mobs latley have been stoping for a good 2seconds then turning to run at me again, whether its a terrain bug or not who knows but its a usefull trick for now if your in a tight spot.
