he sent a clone so he could use F3, so he could walk across safely.

Last night while sieging a tower there was me on a cliff, had 2 thieves and a warrior come up to me (while on the edge) with a mesmer close behind, so i layed a portal, jumped down to proc chaos armor, the two thieves followed (i was delighted!!) portal up to the top, pull the warrior off and shattered the mesmer (who was up levelled) and he died.
shortly after the two thieves came back and wiped the floor with me, go figure eh.
The staff is used as both a defense and offense tool, just something the GS doesn’t offer, sure it has a push-back but that’s it, to me when i’m not running the staff i don’t feel as strong / fearless, you can effectively double blink to gain a fantastic distance too (phase retreat > blink etc).
that being said i love the GS and am trying to find a play style that suits me with it, tough to find though it seems.
p.s. i didn’t mention that staff hits pretty respectable and with a bit of power the image hits pretty darn hard, not to mention bouncing of course gives you might as well more often than not.
its a very promising update with future possibilities, they play this right it’ll be kitten ed brilliant.
I really hope there is no flying movement introduced there has been numerous tittles where it just hasnt worked well, and players end up completing and ignoring even more content, unless of course they make the sky’s a very dangerous place to be travelling, hell if i had an MMO i would include flying but it would be hella dangerous.
mini games are my vote too, btw.
Something like this maybe?
hire this guy, now, as in right now.
i am sure they will introduce more and more as time goes on, they did mention this months ago and is a system they will definitely be expanding upon.
its a simple question….imho if they are all that focused on e-sports a TOTAL split is necessary asap.
There only esport side is Spvp and Tpvp, that is already COMPLETLEY seperate to any other form of the game, sure some changes go accross like the confusion change (which was too harsh but still understandably need some sort of change).
how does the ‘’heart of the mists’’ affect PvE in any shape or form?
i second Vinceftw there great tutorial guides, also Osicat has ‘’how to’’ with shatters (exploding your clones and phantasms)
best thing to do is with the staff get in closeish (with a clone for a shield NOT the phantasm #3) build up some might stacks (thats the gold sword symbol bottom right of the toolbar) then use staff #2 to blink out, summon phantasm #3 lay down staff #5
by doing this the phantasm will produce a combo field effect through the AOE on the floor, immediatley switch to your greatsword, through a mirror blade at range as this also will produce a combo field effect, summon greatsword #4 watch the damage roll out continue to range with your greatsword and / or shatter everything on the enemy.
harder to do this in PvP than PvE of course however thats a very loose example on how to combo some things together quickly and easily.
defense:
stakitten ’s AOE – use staff #2 while standing inside and you get Chaos armor for yourself, is you use a single handed sword at any point you will produce the same effect with sword#3 (illusionary leap) if you use null-field at anytime again you will get chaos armor from staff #2 as well of course as staff #4 which also gives you chaos armor.
a ton of defense there

I had a build with torch, sword, sceptre psitol, all stealth uptime, and just letting my duelist crit on them while i go from behind and slashing at them and retreating, it works but i was a noob and couldnt afford much gear to make it 100% optimal, even though it won me most fights, I am working on one atm, if you would like to work on it with me xD
annnnnnnd this i why i freaking LOVE the mesmer community!
on another note lokos interesting, i’ll try it out tonight been meaning to try a Gsword + Staff centered build again for a while now, ill give feedback later once i’m in from work.
All i see here is an attempt to turn a very hostile post into a good conversation, i applaud Kylia that, of course the internet is a weird and wonderful place, the OP might not of meant for it to come across in the way that i (personally) read it.
But for arguments sake how about Revelations you post the build you use and how it is played with i’m guessing you using the scepter and why / how it provides more control than other options?
Yes to all, were fine in pve leveling, i honestly have no idea what all the continued fuss is about, there of course is no denying around level 40 you start to become noticeably more powerful but before that i felt just fine also
PvE Dungeons were great in, badly played mesmers may give some groups the idea were nothing except portal vendors, so you may have to prove them wrong sometimes but you will with a vengeance.
WvW, we can do more than help we can be down right nasty the mesmer holds some of the most powerful tools in WvW, we can command on the front lines, from the back, be pure support, mix etc be good roamers / harassers though you may get caught as you don’t have the speed to outrun everything all the time.
there is a high skill ceiling, so don’t expect to hit 80 get exotics and start destroying stuff (you could of course) but as you progress and get better and better that is when the mesmer really starts to shine, Kylia, Pyro, Buka to name just a few are good examples of truly shining in there respective fields.
GS is great don’t get me wrong but have you never witnessed or enjoyed hitting those huge shatter + BF combo’s then blinking out?
i guess enjoy is the key word there, i still play that way myself as its the most fun (normally have a GS equipped too mind in a zerg) what i have found though is if i make sure i have retaliation before trying a BF + Shatter in a zerg i don’t take much damage, now either i have been lucky and just hit at opportune times or retaliation hitting retaliation cancels out the effect, never tested, pure speculation and i am sure i am mostly luck but now i will have to check.
Well, when i run Pyro’s build i destroy things with retaliation when people don’t notice, its only fair, and to be honest i like the added thought process of ‘’do i use BF now, or wait just a tad….there!’’
, alternatly you can stop BF if you don’t notice retaliation at the moment you use the attack you dont have to channel the 8 attacks and effectively hurt yourself more than needed.
its more fun this way but dont get me wrong i loved the previous version and would love to have it back however i understand the change.
i think you know your meant to just ’’play’’ the game, not grind for it, each to there own of course but it took me 3weeks this month as i was just playing the game like normal person.
WvW is mostly done by zergs capturing points, so not much changed there.
thats just not true, i know multiple smaller groups and solo players in WvW, they act as scouts, flippers and general harassers, there is nothing more fun in WvW than picking off people from the back of a zerg as VERY rarely the zerg turns on you you thin out there forces, see where there going etc.
alternatley in a tower, upgraded and with arrow carts and things at the ready you can fend off alot of people in one zerg with even as small as 10 players, you can tell your commander (in the current map) to come to the back of the tower if you have a mesmer, your group drops down zerg portals off and you go to flip the camp/tower they took on the way.
WvW i not just ZvZ, albiet it can definatly seem like that sometimes and there does need to be more incentives for smaller groups, like more points attained or something.
I know you said your not a dungeon person but have you ever tried fractals? most are short but the difficulty increases the higher you go.
WvW? aim to be a commander, advance up the Tiers.
Legendary? aim to get one and start the ’’progressive’’ grind and journey to attain one?
world completion? have you explored everything?
Guild Missions? or simply try running a successful guild in all aspect?
its not as clear cut as say WoW, which is dungeon or raid (disregarding Arena as that’s been in a sorry state for years and RBG’s never worked.)
i used WoW as an example as its the one most well known, nothing more nothing less.
Engineer or Elementalist. Those two probably pack the highest initial skill ceiling.
By comparison, Thief’s got a decent skill floor with a crazy skill ceiling. Especially if one doesn’t go for heavy-stealth builds.Necro for something completely different. Ele/Engi/Thief run rather active defenses.
Whereas Necro’s more of a “sit here and take it” profession.
glad to see im not the only one who thinks that about the thief, i actually though think the skill ceiling for a thief is still insanely high even with heavy stealth builds, you can defiantly tell the difference when facing them if there playing cleverly or just spam n’ hope.
Ele’s an ok choice, too restrictive for me and all seems a bit linear.
Yes engineer i enjoy a lot, lots of builds too (not as many as mes, but yeh) although the engineer has insane out of combat mobility the ability in combat is not great, its much better now than it ever has been though since the patch.
Thief is very mobile too, though depends if you enjoy being this type of profession thief though is mobile in and out of combat…depends to be honest, i would go engineer though i am still leveling mine have played alot of spvp/Tpvp with him as dual pistol.
Thief’s use whatever they can get there hands on, if you ask me the whole arsenal should be available, except maybe scepter and focus as there centered around magic, a staff can be used as an offensive melee weapon.
on the more realistic not i would love to see a whip / shield added to a thief, a shield would add a completely different dimension to the gameplay, center it around blocks and interrupts or something.
necros, your good, to be honest its been a long time coming, now as a mesmer i have a very hard time with you necro’s since patch (a welcome change, by the way!)
however the ONLY thing i am finding difficult to survive is all the conditions, mesmers are notoriously weak to fast condition applying professions or builds its not your direct damage and 1v1 i can still win i just end up with a small hp pool as opposed to what it was before (near full).
now i say conditions because Necro’s damage has dramatically changed since patch and i have not had a chance to test out the necro just yet to find out where its coming from and produce a counter, currently instead of portal/mirror i now run with Null Field, if i use this wrong im dead, i also took some condition removing traits and things seem, dare i say it pretty balanced between a 1v1 mes/necro at the moment from my experience.
Necro’s are not OP in my opinion, there much better and they can burst now like most other classes with certain builds, which is good, you know why shouldn’t they be able too?
Give Necro’s more defense and lower there burst somewhat but make them terrifying god kitten it there meant to be scary, make them so you have to think twice about engaging, as lets be honest once engaged (or once the necro engages) there is little way to escape the fight you guys have to dedicate!
The BF was a completely justified nerf and as a shatter mesmer (very simular to osicats heavy mist 2.0 build) i have not seen any, really small things here and there but nothing major, shatter has not been effected all that much.
you are most likely not in the top of the crop as other professions got some nice buffs, on top of that in the screen the game is not even close to being finished the maximum points someone has is 65, that’s just 10 above you, hardly a big deal, what did you do for the rest of this game? come onto the forums?
edit: just double checked myself and your very possibly not feel great as there is a lot of necro’s around, they just wreck people at the moment and we don’t have too much condi removal kittenter, they are not immortal or unbeatable however.
so what did i do last night? i took all the condi removal possible for a mesmer, then necro’s started to fall down, slowly and i was still low on health but still….change your build if your fighting more awkward opponents that often.
(edited by DrixTrix.7168)
i find it funny.
‘’Games to easy please make it a challenge!!’’
next patch;
‘’omg this is so stupidly difficult its just not fun, what happened to your guys?!’’
player base is player base
this was not aimed at anyone btw just general.
How valuable a class is and how valuable that player character is in a WvWvW situation completley depends on the player and there mindset.
if you want a new character for fun, do it but you wont feel much different on any character usefulness wise.
in my opinion if you still enjoy your ranger then the answer to your question is no, its not worth it.
i got one from the trading post.
The Moa achievement also doesn’t count for the wings.
yes it does, thats one i got.
1. ) Dungeons are boring, lack of “exciting” and “meaningful” loot.
2.) Bosses are tiny and often overshadowed by larger scale characters.
3.) Waaaaay too many 1 shot mechanics. Takes away from interesting gameplay.
4.) Zero personal progression and a severe lack of “Reward”.
5.) Once you hit the gear wall, and have all exotics……. thats it…. lame.
6.) No large scale organized PVE, dare I say raids…… Inc Flame.
7.) Sorry excuse for world bosses with zero exciting loot.
8.) skins are only sooo exciting for soooo long….. /sadface.Seriously, I love the art, lore, gameplay, but is that really enough to make someone log in and stay logged in? Trying to re invent the wheel can only go so far. I would love to see this game get more than a hundred views on twitch, and more people logging in and playing. But having to use a website to find a group for PVE content was kinda the nail in the coffin for me. What are some of everyone’s thoughts on this? I mean let’s all take our “Fan-Boy” frame of mind out and be no partisan on this topic and get some good discussion going, and who knows maybe arena net will take notice.
sounds like most of the MMO’s out there, tbh, in fact all of them (according to the respective forums) have the same problem.
i get to play 2hours a day, if i’m lucky and i managed to finish all living stories while still doing fractals, dungeons seem a little pointless to me but that’s me except of course of the living story ones they feel like they have a purpose (you know to the story)
so far living stories have all been enjoyably for me and as your uplevelled i have much more fun gaining levels with these as they keep changing etc…..
each to there own
and play the way you want, but i lack to see the point in your post, all opinions and players are different and play slightly differently so….just do it?
So monocle being a rare item drop from the end of a dungeon differs from any other MMO ever that had random item drops at end of a dungeon hooooooow exactly?
because they will delete the dungeon like a week after it comes out or whatever
I pretty much know that I won’t be able to do the dungeon for sure because I have no lv80 characters yet and don’t think I could make myself grind to get to it that fast.
.
you get up levelled to 80 for these dungeons so dont despair. if your on EU then hit me up ill take you through it i took a ton of people through the molten facility of all levels, think the lowest was 15.
I would prefer Orr to stay as it is, at least for now. An eco-system recovering from a century of submersion doesnt happen within a year, not to mention recovery from corruption by a primal dragon or infestation with undead. It would be plausible if GW2 is still running in a decade or two though.
Edit: that also saves them from the problem of redoing the entire personal story.
how about the pale tree, could extend on that lore and the Sylvari’s lore, they could plant seeds and perform a ritual to make it livable or something never know.
this could make room for new creatures and events while you push back the undead smelly hordes.
Canach, he was making wildlife go all Terminator on the place. he is now in lionguards high security jail.
he’ll be out though mark my words.
so theres not enough content and now theres too much? go figure, playerbases confuse me sometimes.
I for one hope the living story continues at this pace i like and enjoy it, i don’t feel compelled to particularly finish everything, they give you a nice choice if you want things etc.
not only is this content they are adding its exactly what they are after a living, breathing story and to me thats a good thing the world is never stale for me, i like the thought that every month a zone might get a new thing in it permanently there’s a new threat etc, the fact i’ll miss stuff on holidays and whenever i cant log in? i don’t care! i will read up if i think i missed an important story component, so far they are actually connecting these stories really well if you ask me, the refugee’s, southsun and the Molten Alliance i HIGHLY doubt we’ve seen the last of this.
compare this to most other MMORPG content updates, they have big chunks and nothing for months and months and that’s not because the dev’s just think it will take X time to finish and the player-base these days tends to finish things pretty fast no matter the ’’requirement’’ its just there model, this ‘’living world’’ is Anets model and i for one prefer it.
Edit: as for skins i don’t care about the limited time only thing anyway, the reason for that is every update has had new skins and i’ve fancied a bit of all of them so i haven’t really missed anything as the next update might have something even better!
(edited by DrixTrix.7168)
out of curiosity how long has it been happening?
I’m sorry to be the bringer of bad news as well but
‘’Please note, the character deletion process was designed to prevent accidental deletion and asks the player to confirm, by retyping the character’s name, that the deletion is desired and intended.’’
is very true it is a full proof system if you accidently delete stuff then…well…it is user error, asking never hurts anyone but it is designed in a way that accidental deletion cannot happen.
Asura is the best fit for everything!
i like them personally i didn’t get lucky but have gambled and invested in a few pairs as the maximum supply i have seen is 259, 178 last time i checked even if it jumps up by 5-10g ill be happy depends on the demand i suppose!
I like Ninthin as i haven’t seen anything resembling that around so thats what i would pick.
and as for gear the temple stuff is defiantly worth getting yeh its exotic, basically free and has 3 sets however this completely depends on your build (i.e. playstyle) my main (mesmer) uses Knights / Berserker and rings/boots are cavalier….just an example
best to ask or look through the builds in the elementalist forum for that one to be honest.
this is a good point i should pay more attention, sorry dude
90% of my guild has a jade weapon and did not spend a penny, getting sick of seeing the weapons to be honest.
(edited by DrixTrix.7168)
Normal coffer ticket rate reported from community efforts to be about ~.02% from ~11,750 trials.
So yeah, roughly 1/5000 coffers will have a ticket.
It doesn’t work like that, you wont necessarily get one if you open 5000 boxes that .02% chance is for every box you open so, according to that data in every box you open you have a 1/5000 chance (.02%) this resets on every box.
but yup yup a great way to solve the rng issue, still rare wapons, still RNG but obtainable through the game, having said that on my serve (Far Shiver Peaks) i have seen ALOT of people with the weapons, getting bored of seeing them now :P
your paying for a ‘’living world’’ MMO and so far it feels a much more ’’living’’ MMO than all the previous ones i have played.
of course your not alone with your stance however i think GW2 and ANET so far is doing a kitten ed good job of what it was ’’said’’ to include.
now i hate to be the one to say this in this thread but ’’challenging’’ games have not been around for a while, the real challenges now come from player vs player action until some company weather its ANET, Blizzard or a brand new company doesnt matter.
note: my player vs player goes for all versions of it in most games, not just gw2.
one day the’ll all be on the same server and you wont notice a difference, its a matter of time before consoles become more like PC’s, the Xbox is basically a PC anyway just has restrictions.
anyway if you want my 2cents the Xbox will one day anounce WIN8 and the same OS like apple, with all platforms its a matter of time before Games are all played on the same servers no matter the platform.
i would personally design a game for consoles and PC, seperate interfaces but give the consoles and PC’s / versions of the UI so you can use a pad or a board + mouse on either or, so not just a port.
time to stop fighting against platforms and simply embrace it, one company, one game design to end all the flack well done thats all they need.
(edited by DrixTrix.7168)
all of them, in my opinion every profession should carry one of each weapon as each situation can change and a certain weapon may be better than even the traited one
Control Panel > Devices > GFX card
that will hold all the details for you.
it would be best to re-post or have this moved to the Tech forums you will get a ton more answers than in here.
anyway before i or anyone else can suggest anything for you, you must first find out the;
motherboard
ram
core speed
PSU – power supply untit size (i.e. 200/500/600/1000 watts?)
Processor model.
before that we can only suggest things out of the blue which may not even be compatible, also whats your price range? GFX cards can go anywhere from £80 to well over a thousand and depending on what one you have may or may not be worth the cash to upgrade as processors can bottleneck the speed of GFX cards (i.e. you have reached the maxmimum potential until a core part like the processor/board is upgraded)
EDIT: alternately provide a link to the computer you bought, if it has all the details we can delve into it that way.
always shame to see a good contributor go however looks like i will see you in ESO, ill be playing both but latley i have had higher hopes for ESO than i first thought (being a lifelong TES fan)
take care any who fellow mesmer! and thanks for all the help/fun/inspiration.
question: does your tube channel stay the same through out your adventures or does that also change?
Basically a shatter build there’s so much to delve into with mesmer builds its quite a pain sometimes to show the true style, anyway S/S(focus sometimes) Staff is what i use.
i also second Kirec it feels shatter has a higher potential skill ceiling however i’m not saying that the same cannot be reached with phantasms as depending on your skill, trait and weapon sets things change drastically, as we all know
sell the account its on for real money.
or they just get lucky, while COF does make you a nice amount of gold if you get lucky and a precursor or a rare pet / skin drops from anywhere then you boost your gold by a fair way same with dye’s if you get abyss’s and celestials you’ll rack up a lot quickly (a guilde’ the other day got 4 abyss dyes, lucky git)
a minimum 75s before all the loot, yeh.
also Beardmonk if you want any help with the mesmer give me a shout i would be happy to help in game, happy to guest too if you need it, also the guild im in tends to Run AC / CM a lot as a multitude of people want the badges so again give me a shout and ill be happy to help if i can whenever the guild goes on a run ill save you a spot.
All of them, the ele / mes more so than the necro in Spvp though, disregarding the necro on the survive ability front both the mesmer and ele’s have a ton of survive ability you just need to learn all the ins and outs of the classes and how to / when to(and not to) use, waste, run etc.
if you choose the mesmer, im happy to help out just give me a shout in game.
as i play a mesmer i will be biased and say defiantly go for the mesmer more play styles, more fun, more useful abilities, ultimately more to learn and more tricks, again im biased but mesmer will do you just fine in Spvp but you need to invest the time to reap the rewards mesmers can get you.
I disagree, D/P played well is a pain and very hard to beat but for the most part D/P thieves are just spamming like the others.
the only thing that gives you guys n gals (thief’s) a bad name are the people spamming heart-seeker, you instantly know if a thief’s worth anything its either ‘’spam spam spam’’ and still net a good amount of damage or its a ‘’hit, hide, hit, hide, hide, hide, smash and grab, hide’’ etc no matter the spec thief’s i meet tend to go into stealth, except the artful dodgers bunker trait lines.
i personally think thief s are easy to pick up and win(newer players) / damage people to there hearts content but difficult to truly play to there full potential, especially with S/D and to be honest D/P is not that easy either, its the stealth people moan about and that’s it, so i’m afraid thief’s will always be called what your being called unless stealth is tuned down which i really do NOT think should ever happen, its a core class mechanic.
on the other hand, while being difficult to catch that’s what there all about, once caught they dip in HP like a asteroid plummeting from space.
