i would rename Ranger to Beastmaster anyone with a ranger i would give a free class change to Archer (Ranger), if they want.

- no pets
- proper bow usuage
etc etc

as somebody else said, Chronomancer the time themed class that was scrapped.

one ability i would give the Chronomancer would be ’’Paradox’’ – once you are downed you create a paradox, creating a copy of yourself, this becomes you when you are stomped with however much life you had when stomped.

so if your carefless you could have a 3/4 full chronomancer on your hands or if you pai attention, simply a dead one.

Official explanation for temporary content?

DrixTrix.7168

you miss out on the event sure, but there’s more and others and to be had, in all honesty its very intuitive and very good in my opinion and what i will say is the gear / achieves give you no advantages except fun and a new skin or two, so not the end of the world by a long shot.

My problem is that you’re pushing the living story so hard despite it’s not very interesting or memorable. Obviously you’re decided now that this is the way you want to go, despite the game still lacking meaningful endgame content you should IMO add before spending your time pushing the living story.

the living story is effectively end game stuff and GW2 has fractals, the’ll be all sorts to come and ‘’end game’’ the whole of guild wars 2 was built around experiencing the whole world, so leveling and adventuring / exploring is your end game, currently.

about it not being very interesting, Colin has just confirmed what everyone had been saying for months ‘’there testing out different event types in the living story for the future, currently were guinea pigs ’’ – which is true, granted in the next installment if its the same stuff then sure, complain away but i don’t think we should be giving anything except constructive critism about where to go, how to do it etc.

DrixTrix.7168

Hmm, i had the same problem (and i am 80) however after getting Volcanus, fused gauntlets yesterday….man i look like the fiery ant of death! its freaking awesome.

Honestly i would stick with the Asursa mesmer, with twilight + Eternity/Sunrise the effect is better i think on the asura, ok so you cant see that sad excuse for a legendary hilt too well, but you wont in fighting with any race – your concentrated on the fighting, the effect overall is better as when you flip / swing the sword your enveloped give or take in the black / whity pinky swing colour which is just bad kitten

Each to there own though if you are REALLY unhappy then just re-roll, really not a big deal in GW2 you can xfer any and all items via transmutation methods anyway so no biggy in that respect (even though you are 58 :P ).

i would advise to level inside Molten Facility too by the way, get a guild group to run through it your up levelled to 80 and you get 88k xp per run (unless this is scaled down?)

RNG broken or is it just me

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

DrixTrix.7168

they just need to increase the RNG generator rate, its not difficult there just being stingy atm.

it was nice to get the cool gauntlets (depending on ones taste) guaranteed at the end of fire and frosts line though, more guaranteed stuff like that would be good, atleast then you have the RNG chance and achievement insensitive to actual get them/do them, same with bounties, should get a guaranteed exotic, hell bring out scavenger hunt already!

Mesmer would give you the most variety at range (or the necro) in my opinion, the only ’’pets’’ you have as a mesmer is your own clones and phantasms and the only micro managing with these are the shattering to get maximum effect, not difficult (more difficult in pvp, though.

Its a toss up, if you like spending a lot of time at range both will do, if you like spending a lot of time both equally at range and in melee then i would suggest the ranger, of course they can stay at range if they wish also.

want to bring more and be more desired for groups? Mesmer.

p.s. rangers are great in dungeons and fractals, don’t care what the forum majority say i have had nothing but good experiences with them in my groups, maybe i play with good rangers, who knows :P

Why is the Molten Facility dungeon temp?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

it is an on going story arc, the idea of this temporary stuff in my opinion is great, once the story is over the events finish and a new arc will begin, i know its not everyone’s cup of tea but it is a great concept in my opinion.

it is as simple as that end of story = end of content.

DrixTrix.7168

the thing is, if they did increase the cap then they would need to find away around the Laurel Dilemma as well as the current exotics, we know legendary would scale up but what about these other things? if they do not then they have well and truly gone against everything they said to begin with in GW2 and will probably loose or be on thin ice with a lot of fans.

increase it right and it will be fine, increase it wrong and well….all hell will break out, at least on the forums and probably in the press, also what about all the current content, dungeons etc they don’t scale properly now with the ease of runs and such so will they increase the scaling? i know they have talked and have a system in place slowly rolling out (as far as i could tell, grenth is using it atm)

i would rather stay at 80 but have some other advancement if need be at all.

Which MMO would you like to see as a TV show?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

unless you have a multi million (billion now?) dollar budget like Game of Thrones and a director / author (in the games case, lore creator/writer or multiple) all on the same page and wanting to achieve the same thing this would completely suck, it is very rare for a game to be made into a great film / tv show as normally the company just sells the rights and washes there hands with it or everyone is left feeling like that in the end.

Eragon is a prime example, a book with flaws but a potential (if a little cliche) great story arc’ yet the film creators completely screwed that up.

Shy that’s an over reaction, mesmers will still be in a great spot yes confusion will get a needless bed for the brain dead population however engis and rangers still have it pretty you with the pigeonholing we should still count ourselves lucky.

Now will this stop me from playing confusion / retaliation? No it won’t, good players or great players would avoid most of this damage anyway while brain dead people will still die to it, all I will do is modify the build to include an on demand direct DMg (power) attack that won’t be difficult or maybe depending on signet buff the condition DMg one might just make confusion useful.

Lets wait for full notes.

Call your ISP. Unless the karkageddon has started it might be on your end. If it’s happening to lots of your guild mates it’s probably server side combined with how poorly optimized this game is.

no, its a known issue in all tiers, when a certain player number is reached in the vicinity skill lag starts to appear, both NA / EU and all tiers have reported it, that’s not a personal ISP problem on that scale, so as you said last, its game / server side.

although mostly reported in WvWvW.

has been reported in PvE too, i just thought i would say this as thats been the biggest section affected thus far.

Dungeons, fractals, raids? What's the diff!

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: DrixTrix.7168

DrixTrix.7168

You can find out a pretty close Apearence time table for your server on those ‘’world dungeons’’ (what i call world bosses) here; (just click on your server)
http://guildwarstemple.com/dragontimer/

these arnt always 100% but there pretty kitten good.

Dungeons are what people call instanced places inside (or outside) so read all about them here and they also give you locations, boss run downs and what gear is available through tokens; http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dungeon

dungeons will net you Chests with gear and also bosses drop gear too, 2 modes story: obvious is obvious it has a story or explore-able mode where you choose out of a ’’path’’ say 1,2,3 (or 4 in some cases) and just do that single path and then leave or do another path.

Fractals are dungeons for people that what an increasing challenge, some unique skins drop here too but basically you start at fractal lvl 1 and it scales to infinity so the higher you get the tougher they get.

theres not reall any Raids at the moment, a raid i would call more than 5 people so between 10 and 100 or seomthing, so basically world bosses can be considered ‘’open world raids’’

Although I’m kind of with you on that long term thing, simply playing the game, even over a long time, won’t give you enough gold to buy everything required for a legendary. It depends on what you do – and I don’t consider grinding dungeons or events as “playing a game” at all.

1/ yes it will be enough eventually. I don’t know why it wouldn’t. Gold trickles in by merely playing.

2/ I don’t grind dungeons nor events. I play the game as intended, which is to let the game distract me constantly.

We play the same way. I feel like I’m never getting anything done, because I’m like a skritt when I play….OOOOOOOOOOOOO Shiney!

Then I run off and do stuff. And somehow, at the end of the day, I end up putting a decent amount of gold in my chest.

Mind you, I do run the occasional dungeon or fractal (I’m relatively close to getting dungeon master), but most of my time is spent in the open world.

This is how me and the whole guild play i am in, getting distracted isnt a bad thing last night i had;

‘’Mental, Mental, Shatterer get over here!’’ me: ’’’nah man i found this cliff you can jump up, might be something at the top’’ him: ‘’hahaha Mental your Mental’’

him ‘’ did you find anything’’

me ‘’no i slipped and died, found this other thing now’’

thats the way to play a game, hell i dont even mean too the handcrafted design of GW2 is incredible and only takes a couple of seconds to find something new.

and,

i don’t think this will be included in the Dungeon Master, i reckon it will have a unique achievement and name to coincide with Fire and Frost seeing as it’s a temporary dungeon for Fire and Frost it shouldn’t be in Dungeon Master Achieve.

What class for me?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: DrixTrix.7168

DrixTrix.7168

something i have not seen anyone mention,

STOP!! i mean it, STOP thinking about ranger and mages as exclusively ranged, Rangers for instance actually do more damage in melee than range but have a ton of kiting tools to boot, Mesmer can go melee or ranged, in fact in each given fight you will go in and out of melee very often with the mesmer, and you also have a ton of group utility skills in PvP and PvE.

likewise don’t think of the thief as a rogue, or even a thief, yes you can use stealth to great effect but there are other builds like venom-share which is done from range mostly.

even the warrior, you can rifle (or bow not an expert) and play a sniper, my friend does that in WvW picking off the mesmers and guardians mostly, pretty effective. (zerg im referring too).

the beauty of all this? unless you wish to posses a legendary or get the ascended rings / amulets and insist these are a must have (which they are not, at least until you get to certain fractal levels but by then you’ll have them anyway) you can make and play as many characters as you like with no grind, no gear catch-up just the fun.

Myself i would recommend you the ranger, mesmer, warrior or elementalist.

you may be facing a variety of the immortal build, ~65% condition reduction on self and ~40% stun, shattering clones heal and also remove a condition (and whenever you use your heal too) this is including food buffs.

the downside to this build is it has low damage and you need to shatter with confusion stacks to win, so just dont whack them with confusion on, still there extremely tough to beat at around 26k hp and a skilled one can go on for a long time while dishing out considerable damage depending on the opponents mentality and skill use.

also off topic mimic at the moment has a bug where it absorbs the attack then continues to block everything while the channel lasts, its not mimic your facing but i thought i would through this in there for reference sake.

To be fair, the designers probably didn’t know what they were getting into when they decided to do “active combat.”

They clearly didnt. Despite the fact that they added jumping and dodging and swimming, this game is still based too much around skills to be considered “action” combat.

Now all we have is a poor excuse for either.

In your opinion. I actually quite like the combat.

Some people prefer shallow easy combat. That, however, is not something for a developer to be proud of.

The fact that’s it’s shallow is ALSO your opinion. I don’t particularly find the combat shallow. And I think Anet has made a game to be proud of. Of course that’s also just an opinion.

Nope, wrong again. By definition the combat is shallow. Maybe you should read up on that.

i think it is shallow if you don’t make use of combo fields and all the other abilities extra effects, our definition of shallow is very different, and thats what it comes down to, not facts, opinions.

There are a few fields that do interesting things when comboed, the rest simply do the same old boons and conditions in larger amounts.

Combos rarely add depth to the game as they are very seldom more beneficial than just auto attacking. As a side effect they are certainly cool, but purposely setting up a combo for its effects is very useless 9/10 times compared to just auto attacking.

are we talking PvE here because i sure as hell view them as beneficial, i can have 80-90% chaos armor uptime, projectiles for extra damage, confusion stacking (more pvp as not very good in pve), retaliation on distortion for big attacks…..

i’m sorry but i don’t think there seldom beneficial at all i think they are extremely beneficial, granted i do more pvp and wvw than anything but ask anyone in this setting worth there salt and they will say your not playing optimally and not nearly as effectively as you can be and should be.

all this talk about Facts and opinions is making me chuckle, you say some things are facts some of you yet there is no data to back up your facts, really its just your opinion but as you stated it was a fact and when asked to provide the proper information as to how and why it is a fact, all you have is an opinion, so not fact at all, really, just like my paragraphs above, there opinions, not facts as to why there not seldom beneficial.

however i could argue the point that it is fact because it happens in the game and is hard coded to it, theres a loose reason and data as to why there beneficial and the truth is they give extra damage etc, so you aren’t playing optimally….

see what i mean?

Give me specific examples, in PvE (which is what we are talking about), about what you think is better than direct damage, and I will do the math to prove you wrong.

Math is good for stuff like that.

Well personally I can’t as I said in my first post and since I am on about PVp and wvw as that’s what I do, now you may be talking about Pve but you can’t rule out PVp and wvw combat it’s very much the same systems in general and an integral part of the game, so I can’t and won’t give an example in Pve as It would be false or based out off my kitten

true, but you can still position that field to be in your advantage (area control) to set-up the next attack or the filed you actually want to combo with, you can also shoot through 2 fields and apply 2 conditions for example, or focus on defense, i think it can be tactful and deep, depends how you play in my eyes.

i think shallow is a really hard thing to agree on, as its mostly opinions, shallow to me is ‘’stand and shoot, dodge’’ so yeh world bosses, except grenth.
