I wonder if the Dominator going down faster has anything to do with the increased damage when chillled. I know its description doesn’t say it shares that trait with lesser “new” Destroyers, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it did anyway.

New Weapons or Elite Spec What Do You Prefer?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

I’m not seeing how it has to be a binary choice of one or the other. They could easily accomplish both without too drastically increasing the amount of time needed for the overall process.

Elite Specs already add an additional weapon to each profession. Which already entails new skills, balancing those skills, new animations. Which is exactly what adding a brand new weapon type would entail as well. The only part of the workload which would be increased in adding a completely new weapon vs an existing one is additional work on art assets, specifically weapon models.

But everything else, the programming and balance side, remains consistent. An Elite Spec adding a new weapon type is mechanically identical to one adding an existing weapon.

The workload increase would be solely on the artwork team. But in terms of elite specs anyway, the art team is probably done with their work on any given E-Spec long before all the programming, bug fixes, and balancing is done. So the overall development time would stay similar I’d estimate, it would just mean the art team would be involved to a greater extent.

Keeping the art team working longer on new weapons for E-Specs would have an effect on OTHER parts of the game. Like the environment, skins, and such for the new region. More time spent on models for new weapons means less time spent on all those other aspects. And that’s a completely different debate. But purely in talking about the elite specs themselves, I don’t see why it should be a choice of one or the other.

Axe Auto Attack suggestion.

Rumor for Ranger's next Elite Spec

in Ranger

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

Mainhand Dagger is probably the most boring new weapon I could think of for Rangers, personally. There are already plenty of classes who can dual-wield Daggers as it is, and if the rumors are actually true then not only is Ranger going to be added to that list but Warrior as well (though I can’t see any elite spec getting two weapons, so Warrior having double daggers is probably one of the things about the leak I find the most dubious). Plus, Ranger sword already feels pretty “dagger-like” with all the movement involved with the skills.

For that reason as well as the fact that I already struggle to find decent dagger skins for my Ranger just with offhands, I’m hoping this ends up being either fake or something that’s preliminary and gets changed before release.

But I already like most of the Ranger weapons we currently have, so the new profession mechanics matter to me more than the weapon anyway, I suppose.

Mesmer Illusions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

That definitely isn’t the case across the board. All my illusions still appear as actual clones of myself (and others’ illusions appear as clones of them).

I believe illusions are affected by the settings which determine how many high-res player models can be loaded at any given time, since that’s essentially exactly what they are, additional player models being loaded by the game. They’re near the bottom of the graphics tab. Try setting those limits higher and that should let you see the actual clones again.

Does Mordremoth absorb Zhaitan's magic?

in Lore

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

I don’t believe either of the points you bring up utilized Zhaitan’s magic.

Sylvari are humanoid, but they aren’t human. They’re made of bark and sap and not flesh and blood. They’re made to resemble humans, but don’t actually share their physiology, they just mimic it. No death magic involved there.

The clones of Destiny’s Edge… well, we don’t know that much about them, but they aren’t undead either. Zhaitan’s magic revives on a 1-to-1 ratio. You get one Risen from one corpse. Multiple copies wouldn’t be possible through his power. And as you said, they aren’t dead when the clones are made either. The cloning is something Mordremoth is capable of with its own powers, probably a combination of both its mind and “nature” powers.

I don’t think either of those are what Taimi is talking about either, though. Rather, what she’s referring to is something that honestly went kind of unexplored in HoT, particularly later on. The Mordrem were stated a couple of times to be collecting corpses. Its mentioned in a few story instances, namely the one involving protecting the Itzel village as well as the prison camp (there are corpses collected near the beginning). Its also brought up in the open world areas now and then, like during the Ordinance Corp chain in Verdant Brink. So presumably some of the Modrem you fight are reanimated dead, though there seems to be very little indication of which is which.

Particularly in the case of the Itzel Village mission, the Itzel themselves say that they burn their dead to prevent them from being corrupted (something also mentioned during Eir’s memorial as a major reason her body wasn’t brought back to Hoelbrak) and if you choose to go on the offensive against the Mordrem instead of just defending the village, you have to destroy those “blister pods” which are stated to be the way the Mordrem are corrupting corpses.

Also, I believe during the Ordinance Corps chain you find out that Diarmid was previously a Pact member who died in the crash. One of the lines one of the NPCs says is something like “That creature… it had Diarmid’s face!”. So that’s perhaps one of the few specific instances of Mordremoth corrupting a corpse.

That’s what Taimi is talking about, I think. She’s not saying ALL of Mordremoth’s corruption / clone techniques are from Zhaitan. The ability to corrupt living creatures is something inherent to most of the dragons, Mordremoth included. And the cloning thing seems to be his own ability as well. But presumably, Mordremoth can only corrupt / clone living creatures by his own power. Zhaitan’s power is what allows him to also corrupt the dead in addition to the living.

[Feedback] Tubes 2nd Best Mastery

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Electro.4173

You get sent into the air AFTER you travel a short distance underground. Each lava tube comes in a “pair”, one is the entrance and the other one is the exit. You go in the entrance, travel underground a short distance from the entrance to the exit, then get launched into the air by the exit part of the tube.

The delay between entering a tube and getting launched into the air is actually you travelling underground between the two. And as said, you see a little particle effect and hear a tunneling sound effect at that point as well, its just sometimes hard to see depending on your camera angle. Much easier to see when someone else is using the tubes. Go stand around near one of the frequently used tubes and watch as people enter them, and you’ll see it.

Why are we doing rift events?

in Living World

Electro.4173

The rifts seem to have killed all the native creatures in the area of Gillscale Pond, so I’d imagine our characters doing “research” on said rifts by trying to understand them, why and how they killed everything, what makes them appear, and so on would fall into typical hero duties. Particularly once we start teleporting to other rift locations and find out that some of them are major hub cities.

SUGGESTION: Speed Up Asura Mining Animation

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

I’m 99% sure there’s no actual difference in mining speeds for Asura compared to other races, based on a few basic times I just ran with my watch. All races seem to get their 3rd ore after roughly 5 seconds, and then have about a second and a half (a little less than that) of animation “wind-down”.

The only difference seems to be that Asura take a 4th swing at the ore during their animation wind-down while other races just stop and pull the pick back and place it back to their side during that time frame.

All races can cancel the animation after getting the 3rd ore to speed up the process. Its something I’ve become accustomed to, to the point where I do it pretty much any time I’m mining.

All that said, I’d totally be in favor of tweaking the Asura animation so that they only strike the ore 3 times. Not because it makes a difference in the amount of time spent (which I don’t think it does) but because it doesn’t make any sense.

[Spoiler current event]Who did you choose?

Electro.4173

I went with the Priory.

Clearly the Shadowstone is a powerful item. Both the Priory and the Consortium say as such. And it even sounds powerful, being able to amplify magic.

So there’s no way I’m turning it over to the Consortium. They’ve already shown that they’re more than willing to practically sign people into slavery under the guise of “protection” as well as undertaking other dangerous tasks for personal gain and nothing more. No telling what they want with the Shadowstone. At best they get rich and nothing bad happens, at worse they start another cataclysm.

I’d rather put myself at risk than put the rest of the world at risk.

Although if I thought it’d have an actual effect on the story, I would probably choose to not do either “remedy”. I can’t say I’m all that worried about the “anomaly visions”. Its not like they’ve done anything aggressive or are especially distracting. It’d be one thing if I was seeing them everywhere 24/7 or they were attacking me or others, but as it is, one just pops up occasionally then vanishes just as quickly. I’d just as soon keep my “condition”, maybe come to understand it, than risk using some random artifact on myself. But, I figure that its probably a binary choice. Either choose option A or choose option B, no other choice counts. So in the interest of having an impact on the future of the story, I picked one of the two concrete options presented to me.

It fits within their goal timeline of 2-3 months between releases and also gives them plenty of time to release the content and the inevitable bug fixes before the holidays come ’round and everyone starts going on vacation or just otherwise getting busier.

If it doesn’t happen by then, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was delayed until 2017 because of the aforementioned holiday stuff.

Spectral glider black flame

in Players Helping Players

Electro.4173

The Spectral Glider seems to have a rather unique dye setup. Rather than just making it whatever color you choose, it seems more like it has a very, very white “base” and then whatever dyes you choose to add to it get mixed in to that white base. Sort of like mixing paint.

So no, there’s no way to get black flames. The base white is so bright that it washes out pretty much every color, black included. Even choosing the darkest shades of other colors ends up with just a mid-shade rather than the color you choose. You can either get pastels or bright colors with the Spectral Glider, few darker hues will show through.

Wish gw2 had a PET class...

in Ranger

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

Its still a pet class.

I agree wholeheartedly that there’s very little connection to the pets themselves and the pet system itself is completely bland and uninvolved, though. I loved the heck out of my Creature Handler back in Star Wars Galaxies. So much variety, having to actually go out and find the pets which were all randomly generated and the process of carefully taming them without getting eaten by their mothers, then actually training them as they grew, even being able to sell them… ‘twas amazing. GW2 doesn’t even compare.

It ain’t gonna change, though. System like that is too complicated for a game like this, especially to try and add in after the initial development phase when the engine is settled. Not to mention all the massive cries of Ranger favoritism that’d be going up if Anet dared to spend all the time needed to develop it. I’ve seen some people who already complain about Ranger’s getting new pets since other classes don’t get anything like that.

… now I want to go and check out SWGEmu again. See if they got Creature Handler working yet. If I only had the time to devote to an MMO like that nowadays.

Cosmic Harvesting Tool?

Once they do two “matching” tools, getting the third is usually only a matter of time.

I doubt there’s going to be official word on it until it happens, though. I’ve never seen a dev post about upcoming harvesting tools, they just show up in the gem store at random. At best they’ll be datamined, but I don’t think most of them even get that.

Don’t think they’ll repeat the black hole theme, though. Based on the harvesting and mining tools, they’re going for a celestial theme overall but different effects for each specific tool. So something different. Maybe a beam of light from the sky or something.

Please create a lightning themed staff skin

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Electro.4173

There are a couple of staff skins that have lightning effects on them. The Aetherized Staff is basically an electrode that has sparks coming out of it. And both the Mystic Staff and the Peacekeeper’s Staff have some electrical particle affects on them as well.

But I assume you’re talking about a staff shaped like an actual lightning bolt and / or made out of lightning (like Bolt or the Storm Bow). Which I agree would be pretty cool, particularly because it’d be a staff that’s not just a stick with something on the tip. Which are always the best staff designs, IMO. There’s so much more space to work with when they use the whole staff for the overall design instead of just the head, like with the Dragon’s Jade Staff or The Crossing.

Taimi's Game

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Electro.4173

I have no interest in SAB. Bringing the 8bit monkey into play in this mission has taken me from looking forward to seeing how my various alts will play through the mission to instead feeling as if I will have to pass on playing this chapter of the LS with any characters other than the one already in.

I get it, AN has an 8bit gaming fetish, but there is no need to push it on others. SAB is great in its implementation. Completely segregated from core content so that those interested can indulge as they see fit while others can ignore its existence. Why the change? Advertising a game mode that isnt even available seems like a bad idea.

Not sure you can call it an “advertisement” when the content it would be advertising isn’t even available in-game right now.

Perhaps the fact that you have no interest in SAB means you’ve also missed why the Super Monkey appears in Taimi’s Game.

Taimi says she brought Moto in to help with fixing the machine because she couldn’t do it herself. Moto is the Asura who created SAB. Which makes perfect sense, because the machine is all about holograms that need to be interactive to “digital copies” of the user and act like real creatures. Which is exactly that Moto created with Super Adventure Box. And its nice to see that Taimi does have actual limitations in terms of knowledge and expertise and isn’t just a genius at absolutely everything.

She left him alone with the machine while he was working (she says something along the lines of “I only left him alone for 5 minutes!” when the monkey shows up) and he decided to do something silly and import one of his creations into it. Which is hilarious and totally sounds like something Moto would do. Heck, he inserted himself into SAB as both the princess and the character who sends you on your journey.

Personally, I love the fact that instead of just bringing in some random new character or having Taimi be an expert in yet another field, they actually did a bit of world-building and connected the instance with something else which happened in GW2’s world.

Could something be done with the Flesh Wurm?

Faster attack and projectile speed would certainly be nice, considering its a “turret” that you have to re-summon for every encounter. Its already far more limited than other minions for that reason, so it should at least deal good damage at a decent rate to make up for it. Ought to be a projectile finisher too, for that matter.

My main issue with the skill is how the teleport pathing check is handled, though. Why is the path check on the summon and not the teleport itself? I want to summon the thing on top of a rock or something to keep it out of harms way, but I can’t do that unless I’m standing on the spot myself because of the path check. And even if I AM standing on the rock, half the time it still won’t work because my cursor is a millimeter too far to the right and I can’t teleport past that little bump or something.

Other skills proc might on hit and don’t have the confusion problem (Thief’s dual-pistol #3 comes to mind), so I don’t think that’s the reason.

I think the reason each attack is treated as separate is because each attack needs to target (potentially) a different enemy and that the attack needs to auto-cancel if all targets die or move out of range (to keep you from just being trapped in the skill for a few seconds). To accomidate one or both of those traits, the devs coded the move as 6 separate attacks instead of a single channel, which is why it triggers confusion multiple times.

Last I checked guilds aren’t armies or monarchies so telling the “Commander” (which is now just an honorary title since we’ve officially left the Pact, so we command no one) that he can’t just boss her around and make her do whatever seems like a perfectly valid point. Just because she’s deferred to your leadership in the past doesn’t mean she’s going to do so without question all the time.

She’s clearly got some personal ties to the situation. Outside of the obvious ties to Necromancy and her dead sister and Lazerus’ revival that so many people bring up (and I hope they don’t go down that route personally, too cliché), there’s also the fact that Anet made it a point last episode to have Marjory state that she doesn’t believe people can change. And here’s Lazerus claiming to be doing exactly that. So she’s got a personal connection to the situation on that basis as well, and being a detective she’s probably naturally curious, so the situation intrigues her.

Electro.4173

You’re invulnerable while in Mursaat form. Even fall damage and lava doesn’t hurt you. So you wouldn’t die even if they were still aggressive towards you. I had a ton of fun playing around with the Mursaat disguise, including running around during the Pyroclastic Jade event ressing other players while swimming through lava and other players’ attacks without even getting a scratch.

I think you’re looking too far into game mechanics looking for story where there is none. The Mursaat disguise switches you from the “player” faction to the “enemy” faction in order to make all the jades friendly / non-hostile towards you (while at the same time not altering how they react to other players). Its why you appear as a red target to other players when disguised and can be hit by other players attacks (though again, because you’re invulnerable it doesn’t do anything short of showing “Invulnerable” on-screen).

The Destroyers are non-hostile because they’re also part of the “enemy” faction.

As for why its in that room… well, like you said. There was probably a stone dwarf in that room at some point to run the machine. The Destroyers are there to explain why said dwarf is no longer there. They broke in and dragged him out of the area.

Lack of dedicated merchant in new maps

in Living World

The devs commented on the lack of merchant in Bloodstone Fen during one of the AMA’s around its release. I believe the response was something along the lines of “The lack of a merchant has to do with the story and the fact that its difficult for merchants to get supplies out in such a remote area, so we didn’t put one into the zone”.

I’d imagine the same would apply to Ember Bay as well. While there IS an asura gate, its not a publically accessible gate, only useable by the forward teams Taimi is sending which are still in their preliminary stages. So moving merchant goods probably isn’t viable there either, at least not yet. Maybe the story will eventually progress to a point where travel to EB becomes more accessible and then we’ll get vendors.

So far my impressions are that they aren’t worth it. Particularly since you have to buy the “keys” from one specific vendor that you’ll have to do tasks for to open, and apparently they can bug out and just not work anyway. There also don’t seem to be that many of the chests around anyway. But who knows, maybe there’s a rare chance at some good stuff. Actually, scratch that. No dialogue towards the dragon itself, just to the other characters ABOUT Aurene. You practically ignore her as you’re talking about her to the others.

I would have liked to see something along those lines at least. Nothing overly involved or anything, but something at least. An “I got your message”, a vow to protect her, anything involving a direct interaction.

If you talk to “stone head” one of his dialogue options is to ask if there are underground caverns or some other easy to way to get around, and then he goes on to describe how to use the lava tubes. Presumably, that was going to be the trigger to unlock the ability to learn the mastery. But then somewhere along the line the devs decided it was too restrictive and not fun to have to get to that point without the tubes and just made it unlock by default when you enter the zone.

Worrysomely weak destroyers (spoilers)

in Living World

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

I don’t think the open-world destroyers are necessarily indicative of how powerful they’re all going to be. A lot of the random open world destroyers in Ember Bay seem to appear in areas where they infinitely spawn (especially the areas around the Skritt camp and the Asura research camp) and the player needs to get around said area. Like, I’ve literally killed destroyers in those areas only to watch them spawn again a few feet away (and those don’t give experience either). So they have to be weak enough to plow through or run past.

Most of Mordremoth’s early minions aren’t that threatening on their own either. You can shred a lone Modrem Wolf or Husk with little trouble. And they haven’t even used any of the abilities from the first story instance, namely leaving behind fire explosions when they die. I don’t think Anet put those in that instance for nothing, so I’m assuming we’re going to be getting stronger Destroyers at some point.

They’re still plenty threatening in groups as well, just like the early Modrem. The Dragon’s Vigil instance illustrates that well enough, since its just the same Destroyers yet its still tough to survive because they come in groups.

Gyros should actually benefit from traits

I don’t think the turret-specific traits should affect Gyros. Turrets and Gyros aren’t the same thing. They’re thematically different from one another. They’re two different things, even if they’re both AI “summons”. Trait interplay is great and all, but it shouldn’t just be forced. And Scrapper does have trait interplay with other parts of Engineer anyway, just not in this particular area.

I definitely think gyros ought to benefit from explosion traits, though. They explode when they die. Though there are a whole list of things Engineer has that “should” benefit from Explosion traits that don’t.

Tool Kit healing I’d be on-board with as well. Makes sense that Tool Kit could heal all mechanical constructs. But obviously it would need to only heal their health and not prolong their timers.

You only need to use each scroll once per character (assuming you don’t want to play the story for each), then you can just waypoint there like any other map and throw away the scroll. So I don’t really think its a problem with filling the bank unless you’re someone who creates new alts constantly and thus needs to keep the scrolls.

Which isn’t to say I wouldn’t prefer if we could get into the new maps more organically. Fire Islands could be gotten into via the Asura gate inside of the Rata Novus lab (which should itself be an open world area and not just a story instance, IMO) and Bloodstone Fen could probably connect to Verdant Brink somehow given their proximity.

Making them invulnerable again is likely never going to happen. Counterplay is the lay of the land now, and you can’t counter an unkillable AI. At best you interrupt the initial cast, but that’s probably not enough for the current design philosophy.

I actually don’t really want them to become invulnerable again either. I’d rather have other areas improved to the point where they’re useful while being killable. Shorter cast time, longer uptime, stronger effects. More survivability would be nice as well. Not through invulnerability, but more health and maybe a pulsing aegis effect to make them more durable than they currently are.

Outfit pieces toggle

There are a handful of outfits that let you toggle the shoulders / gloves, but not anywhere near all. Those that do are in the minority, in fact.

Its likely related to how “separate” the items are from the whole. For some outfits removing other parts is as simple as just removing the visual from that area. For others, the parts are connected in such a way that its not possible to do that. The pieces are connected with the whole in such a way that removing them isn’t easily done if possible at all.

Considering the whole reason outfits are easier to develop is because they can design a single look without needing to think about “modular” creating of different pieces, and that itself is the reason you can’t remove certain parts of the outfit… yeah. I don’t see this request happening. It goes against the whole concept of outfits and the reason they’re preferring to develop them over armor.

When will LS3 part 2 come out?- Predictions [Merged]

I’m guessing it’ll either be in 3 weeks time or 5 weeks time. Patches are bi-weekly. We had a patch a week ago, so next week would be the next possible patch. Then after 3 weeks, then after 5, ect.

3 weeks would line up with the last event for Seis Burnheart. She finishes her research and can point us towards some location where something related to the tremors starts happening which leads into the second part of the LS. Wouldn’t be surprised if we got a second current event next week which would run concurrently with Seis to up the anticipation as well.

Alternatively, after Seis’ event finishes we instead get another current event in which the tremors worsen or something happens with the White Mantle / Bloodstones, which lasts for 2 weeks and THEN transitions into Part 2.

Either way would also line up with the 2-3 month timeframe they’ve put forth for Living World updates for the time being.

If I had to pick one or the other, I’d probably lean towards it being earlier, if only because having an earlier release of this content would give more time between the release and Halloween as well as giving them more time to release Ep3 before the holidays get into full swing. Plus, Seis’ events being so spread out just seems like too much of an outlier to be pure coincidence. I’m thinking the schedule is there for a specific reason.

Clone Death Should Return

I dunno if it was considered “meta” or anything as I’ve never followed that aspect of the game, but I used to run a phantasm build and I loved using clone death traits with it.

You could have 2 phantasms up and then keep your 3rd slot open to repeatedly clone-summon, thereby proc’ing the death traits while also still being able to use your clone skills. So you could actually use Mirror Blade and such and still get something out of it besides just killing your phantasm for nothing.

High Pitched Light Armor Sound

If its the same sound I’m thinking of, I’m pretty sure it only happens on light armors which have chains or such dangling from them, and I think the sound is supposed to be the chains bouncing around. Of all my characters who use Light armor, I only hear it on one, my Mesmer who uses the Trickster’s armor.

Black Lion weapon sets never included all 19 weapons. There were only 2 or 3 Black Lion sets that did. Off the top of my head, its just the Dreamthistle and Aetherblade sets, and maybe one more (I want to say the… Chaos set?) . The former two are used by enemy NPCs who can swim (Dreamthistle are used by Toxic Alliance members, specifically Krait, and Aetherblade are used by… well, the Aetherblades), which is probably the only reason the made underwater weapons for those.

That’s just arguing symantics, though. The point that Anet stopped caring about underwater content in general still stands. But it happened almost immediately after launch, probably right after the very early patch where they focused on underwater combat tweaks and everyone was like “LOL underwater? Who cares, no one likes that stuff anyway”.

Droprate - Unidentified Fossilized Insects

I wouldn’t say the drop rate is “abysmal”. But its definitely not something you’re going to get every couple of chests without rather good luck.

I haven’t completed the collection (and probably never will) but I do have about 6 of the weapons. I think the quickest I’ve gotten a fossilized insect was about 10 chests, and the longest “drought” I’ve had was about 60 or so.

The reward track is definitely the better option if you’re into PvP.

Is Transfer Chaser daily or?

Why is anyone wasting hours standing around just hoping she’ll move? That’s just silly. Even if it is bugged and she’s meant to move daily or something, that gives you a whole DAY to do the event. And its not like you have to wait for certain periods of time during that day to do it, its always available. See if she’s moved, if she hasn’t, go on with your life. Camping her hoping she’ll move is pointless.

Tremors are coming from the north

I could see it being a “long game” type of event. I don’t think the next part will be the Ep. 2 release, that’d be a little ridiculous considering they said it’d be 2-3 months between episodes now, but maybe each new one happens in a couple of weeks, while they additionally keep adding other events and side effects building up to something. Like, maybe in a couple weeks Seis moves on to Snowden Drifts with her tracker quests, and they also add another new current event related thing at that point having to do with the tremors. So as she moves along, things get progressively worse, until she reaches the final location, and then things really start to come to a head by the time she reaches a conclusion with her research.

Maybe Ep. 2 will address the worsening conditions and this is part of a direct lead-in to that.

In any case, I’m kind of amused by how bent out of shape people are getting about this. People are comparing it to previous events like the Bloodstone Creatures in terms of waiting, which its really not. Those you were waiting on strict timers for specific events to happen and you needed to hang around certain locations for possibly extended periods of time waiting. Effectively preventing you from doing anything else. Here, all you need to do is check her location once a day (or just check the forums). If there’s no movement you can go on with your play as usual. And when she DOES move, there’s no waiting involved, grab her tracking spell and search your trackers at your own pace.

I especially like the people who just need to know the schedule. Like right now. Or they’ll explode.

How do you name your characters?

Every character except the first two I made have lore-appropriate names. Even the throwaway characters I just use for storage / home instance farming. Heck, yesterday when the character slots were on sale I created a new Sylvari and spent literally like an hour going through name databases for Celtic names before I found one I liked that wasn’t taken.

The first two I made before I knew much about the lore or that there WERE lore appropriate names. I had never played GW1, and the first though I had about starting GW2 obviously wasn’t “Oh man, I totally need to look up how to properly name my characters on the Wiki!”. If name contracts weren’t so expensive I may have changed them long ago, though I have come up with RP reasons for their different names (my single-named Charr I just consider to be a gladium, and my Sylvari with a “surname” just took the second name to copy Charr and Humans and sound more mystical and mysterious since he’s a Mesmer).
