Tribal Armor's Return?

in PvP

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

The devs did state at one point that they intended to bring back all the armor pieces that are now unacquirable since the PvP wardrobe changes.

However, that was some time ago and nothing has actually come of it, so its hard to say whether its still something they’re shooting for or not. It may be something that fell by the wayside.

Still, I mean, the skins are there in the game so it seems like it’d be a trivial matter to bring them back. Just throw them on a random vendor somewhere even. Not like its some huge undertaking that would take weeks of development time. I know some people would be upset that they’re “prestige armor” has been “ruined” but seeing how it was never meant to be special armor to begin with, I’d kindly say “get over it” to those people and let everyone enjoy them as was the original intention.

Confused about new Expansion pricing

You get a unique backpiece which unlocks a second collection to get an Ascended backpiece. That’s probably part of the reason for the high cost, since they seem to like to keep Ascended back items costly / difficult to acquire.

You have joined too many parties recently!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Electro.4173

I agree, this has to go, it’s annoying. So what if I joined too many parties? How does that hurt the game? -facepalm-

If I were to hazard a guess, I’d say that the reason for this message / limitation is to prevent trolls from going into LFG and just joining and leaving every party they see, possibly insulting the party before leaving as well. Particularly groups of trolls who could potentially join en masse and kick the actual party, even though that would be harder to accomplish nowadays (would have been more of an issue back when you only needed 2 votes to kick). Or even people who just join a party, wait until it fills, then leave, which would cause the group to relist in LFG to fill again.

That said, I’m always in favor of not screwing over legit players in an attempt to stop trolls, so I don’t think this is the best method to prevent potential abuse. I’d gladly see it changed.

Bristleback Nerf

I’ve been expecting it to get nerfed considering its power and cooldown, honestly. Granted, I didn’t actually think it was OP before, but compared to other pets its much better than most. Sadly, I expect them to nerf good stuff than to bother buffing all the bad stuff.

The fact that it came from a hotfix and not even in a balance patch is rather annoying.

The new glider, Electromagnetic-Descender Glider, would be awesome if your back peice didn’t disapear when gliding. I would totally wanna see my Tempered Spinal blades be my glider with that effect, would totally buy it!

Unless that could be handled on a per-glider basis (which I’m guessing they didn’t design the engine to support) that would cause far more problems than anything else. Most back items would clip horrendously with most gliders, not to mention stuff like having 2 sets of wings if you were using your wing glider and your backpack at the same time and such.

Suggestion- add HoT dailies

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

The people who hate HoT and don’t want to do metas ever would probably rather just do their dailies elsewhere anyway, even if they added HoT options to the daily list.

I’d definitely appreciate some HoT-specific dailies. Just make a completely new category for it so that its purely additional options and not taking the place of anything currently. So you’d have PvE, PvP, WvW, and then an Expansion / HoT category. People who don’t have the expansion wouldn’t even have the category on their interface, so there’d be no weird OCD issues where people get mad that they can’t complete the dailies they see because they don’t have HoT.

There seems to be a lot of limitations in the engine for dying effects. There are very few armors or outfits that have any sort of dye-able effects (in fact, only two off the top of my head, one being the new one from today and the other being the Lunatic Court outfit).

Given the sheer complexity of this particular glider and the effects it has, I wouldn’t be surprised if it would be extremely difficult to impossible for them to add dye channels even if they wanted to.

Enchanted armours ludicrous time out

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

The extremely short time-out is definitely a major pain.

I can see the reason for it, as it’d be a major problem if a bunch went AFK in all the armors for a given lane, but… doesn’t make it any less annoying, especially since you end up waiting around for 10 minutes before the actual event starts.

It’d be nice if they made a separate timer for the time before the Octovine event and during. The current short timer would be fine during the Octovine, since you’d need to actually be doing stuff during that period anyway. But the idle time prior, they could have maybe a 5 minute timer or even no timer at all and I feel it’d be just fine.

"I'd really like this..." [Gifting Strangers]

Electro.4173

Had my eye on this thread for a while. And while there are certainly plenty of things I’d love to get my hands on that are too pricey for me to just go and buy instantly (skins, minis, ect) I’ve never really felt that it was justified to ask for something like that from others. Long term goals I can work on for myself and get eventually (finally got the Crossing after 3 years, so… that’s something).

But there is one slightly less selfish, less aesthetic thing I’d like to get that’s well out of my budget which I’ve been starting to want more and more. And that’s a Commander tag.

Now, not only is that well outside of my means to just go and spend gold on willy-nilly, but I honestly can’t really even justify the cost to myself either. I don’t do WvW, I don’t have a guild that I’d need to run events for, I don’t plan on doing anything like running chest trains or basic event zergs like Frostgorge. Literally the only thing I want the tag for is for large scale organized events like the HoT maps. There are many times when I’ll get into a map and see people asking for tags to start organizing, and I’m like “I wish I could, but…”. I mean, sometimes I’ll throw up my Mentor tag and try to help, but with how easy those are to get and the more limited capabilities its not quite the same. But as much as I do wish I could help people out in such a way, 300g for that possibility is just too much for me. Even if I actually had that amount on-hand I don’t think I could bring myself to spend it on a Commander tag. I could probably handle the old 100g amount, but 300g… that’d hurt. A lot.

So you’re probably asking “Well if you can’t justify the cost, why should I”. And… I don’t have an answer to that. You probably shouldn’t, if I’m being honest. But I’m going to ask anyway. Maybe there’s someone out there who thinks its a worthwhile thing to spend money on. It wouldn’t be the first donation I’ve been surprised by in this thread. And if not, well, its not like I lose anything by asking.

Great Astral Wisp Suggestion

Eh… it’d be an interesting change I suppose, but the skill would still be pretty sub-par, and it might be kind okittenward trying to lose your target to self-cast Wisp on yourself then get your target back so you can actually use #1 again. So beyond being interesting I don’t really think it’d help the skill all that much.

I’d personally like to see it become a custom debuff (similar to Guardian’s Binding Blade, or even the bird seed effect that the Ogre boss in the Queen’s Pavillion has) instead of the current incarnation where its like a series of invisible hits coming from your character.

That way it couldn’t be obstructed (which makes no sense, how do you obstruct birds attacking your face by putting a rock between you and the Ranger?) and wouldn’t kill you from Retaliation either.

Make all recipes show if you have them

Electro.4173

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I got a recipe drop in Hot. Ok, I open it and has a list of the recipes that can be unlocked. So far so good. I click on one and the only options are accept. So I figure I dont have it. I accept it and it goes to my inventory—-THEN it tells me I already have it when I go to learn it. Since I had two drops I opened the second one and the list appears, that one I just activated does not show up as already owned. I guess I have to go to pencil and paper, or view the crafting menu for all my toons, search through them and make a list. Such a waste of time as well as inconvenient. They should show up as already owned before you accept and unlock. (imho)

When you’re on that “pick which recipe you want” screen, hover your cursor over the picture icon and it’ll bring up the usual tooltip information for that recipe, including telling you if you’ve already unlocked it on that character.

Reaper Nightfall Animation Changed???

in Necromancer

Electro.4173

It definitely won’t be reverted. There were lots of complaints about Nightfall rooting you back before it was changed. Most people hate skills that root you with a fiery passion due to the mobility employed by GW2’s combat engine, and now that they’ve changed it there’s no going back or the complaints about it would be even more than before.

I agree the new animation is lame by comparison. I really like the “sword plunge” animation. All I can do is hope that they never give in and change the last couple of skills that use that animation.

I can’t recall a time when I’ve ever slotted Bomb Kit. Heck, if you asked me what skills Bomb Kit actually has I couldn’t even tell you most of them… there’s a fire bomb and the toolbelt is a blast finisher… I think there’s a smoke bomb?

It just really doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest. A (basically) melee attack on a delay that requires literally spamming 1. Not my cup of tea at all. I’ll deal with “1 spamming” with grenades as they’re really good (and I play condition) and I’ll deal with it using Mortar since I like the siege aspect. But if I want a melee skill I’ll use Flamethrower or Tool Kit. Or Hammer, now.

Also, even though its sub-par I prefer to run Turrets or Gyros as my utilities while either using just 1 or no kits, so even less room for a kit I really don’t like either.

After the month is over there hopefully won’t be quite as much reason to just do wing recolors.

Central tyria MP for solo players?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

I’m assuming the reason that there aren’t any “commune” Mastery Points in Central Tyria is simply because it was much easier to just put them on a bunch of achievements (which only requires altering the code for the achievements to award a Mastery Point in addition to the original rewards) than to go back into individual maps and add new objects (commune points) where there previously weren’t any.

I suppose they could have gone in and added commune points to some of the existing chests out in the open world without adding brand new stuff to old maps, since there are plenty of random chests just scattered about, but even then… still easier to just slap them into achievements.

Initiate and Recruit's backpack.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

You… sort of can.

Achievements and collections are account-based, not character-based. So you can progress any achievement on any character.

However, in the case of the collection specifically tied to the order back items, they require a number of “items” which are gotten from completing story missions for HoT, all the way up through the final mission. And which items you get correspond directly to the back item you initially chose in Prisoners of the Dragon. So for example, a character who chose the Initiates back item will get collection pieces that correspond to that order’s exotic-level back item.

So you’ll pretty much need to finish the story on both characters if you want both back items. There are some other items that you need to buy from various HoT vendors, and those can be purchased with any character.

Once you get past the second / exotic level, then you get a second collection for the final, ascended back item. That one doesn’t require completing story missions or anything, so that one can basically be done on any character with the exception that each one requires you to also complete the collection for the respective Order’s armor and weapons, and you need to be a part of that order to purchase weapons and armor for that Order.

Kralk – The whole situation with Glint’s egg, Glint being obviously related to Kralk. Rytlock saying he’d like to go after Kralk next. I guess the Shatterer buff too, but I’m not sure that’s a hint so much as simply them getting around to fixing a battle that’s been in long need of it, and there doesn’t actually seem to be any lore behind the changes.

Primordous – Heavily researched by the Rata Novans, and Taimi is now hanging out there learning as much as she can from their research.

What is the worst fight in this game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

I’m reading some of these and I’m just… wat.

The Blighted Pale Tree fight was one of the best fights – downright best in all of HoT story instances for me. Visually and mechanically. Mordremoth in Hearts and Minds never bugged for me and his attacks are far from insta-kill (if any of his attacks instakill you, consider raising your vitality and toughness, cuz I’ve never been hit by such an attack without the extreme mote). Subject Alpha’s one of the best designed dungeon fights before Molten Facility/Aetherpath.

How people think those are bad fights is beyond me… They’re the best fights.

The insta-kill part of Mordremoth is the death field that you need to glide to avoid. Technically not insta-kill I guess, it takes like 3-4 hits to kill you, but you have very little leeway for messing up since the hits are fast and there’s obviously no safe spot on the ground. In general, if you hit the ground and you aren’t right next to an updraft you’re going to die. And particularly in the latter sections when he starts throwing rocks, if you get hit by a rock you’re going to hit the ground, and then you’ll die, so in essence the rocks are insta-kill. Get hit by one, and you’re almost certainly dead.

mini hiding

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

Its been a bug since sometime around when HoT launched. For some reason when miniatures are hidden by high map population, they actually get unchecked from your settings instead of just being hidden temporarily (which is what used to happen).

Some of the HoT maps (mainly Tangled Depths) also seem to hid miniatures almost by default no matter how many people are there. I’ve been in instances where I’ve barely seen anyone around and yet the game is still telling me the population is high and minis are hidden.

Its probably pretty low priority on the “fix list” since it doesn’t actually affect anything gameplay-wise, but I do hope they’re looking into it at least. The auto-miniature system / mini wardrobe was a great addition to the game but with the bug turning them off all the time its almost like we’re back to the days where you had to manually bring them out again.

If you only do PvE then there’s obviously a point in getting your 3 dailies done in PvE for the spirit shards / AP.

If you’re getting your 3 done elsewhere, though… yah, there aren’t really many PvE rewards that give anything worthwhile on their own outside of that. The harvesting ones are OK since sometimes you get some rarer / more expensive items out of it, and Mystic Forger is OK for an extra coin since they don’t drop quite as often as they used to. And Fractals dallies are nice for extra relics if you only run them once in a while. Beyond that, meh.

Kind of odd that a look that’s meant to capture HoT doesn’t use any of the new stuff from HoT itself, IMO.

Transmutation rework idea

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

I think that once you’ve spent a transmutation charge on any given skin, then that particular skin should not cost a transmutation charge to use it again.

I don’t personally have a problem with the current system as I’m one who tends to pick a look and stick with it, adding new looks on top of that occasionally (like, most characters I have I have 2 armor sets, sometimes 3, and I just swap between those for variety), rather than just swapping constantly between every skin in the game.

But if a change were needed, I’d definitely say this would be the way to go. Simple to understand, allows the current system to mostly stay in place (less development hassle), and would still allow those who like to switch more often to eventually reach a place where they can do so freely.

What is the worst fight in this game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Electro.4173

For me personally, the Mordremoth battle is by far the most frustrating fight in GW2. The 3 insta-death sections where if you fail you get to start all over… no. Not a fan. The normal phases are already long enough as it is, having to repeat them is just torture. I enjoy the HoT story with each of my new characters all the way up until I hit the final mission, then its just like “Ugh, I have to do that again?”.

Even worse is the achievement that requires you to not get hit once during those phases. The ascended amulet you get from that I’d love to have, but I just don’t know if I’ll ever be able to get it. Avoiding the rocks alone is simple enough, and I could probably even manage the 3rd phase demon portal projectiles on its own, but combine those with trying to keep track of where the updrafts are so you don’t go too low to the ground while avoiding all that other stuff… that’s what kills me.

Spectral healing skill?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

I don’t expect they’ll ever finish the utility / elite / heal “groups” so that all of them have a full set. The amount of skills they’ve added over the course of the game is very low, and with elite specs now being a thing I’d imagine all of their focus will be there (and elite specs add new utility categories, they don’t touch old ones, at least that seems to be the intention). Plus, different professions would need different amounts of new skills, since some heals and elites were left uncategorized.

If they were going to add one, though, I think something with buffs would fill a niche none of the other heals do and fit with at least some of the other spectral skills. Perhaps a skill with a low initial heal but that grants you 5 seconds of Resistance, Protection, and Stability (as well as a spectral form that recovers Life Force per hit) and then a long duration Regeneration buff on top of that. Prevent yourself from dying for a while as you build Life Force and heal from regen.

Wings of Love [Feedback]

Electro.4173

I’m personally not a fan of wings either. I find them oversized and rather silly looking overall. Like, yah, a lot of the back items don’t really serve a purpose or anything and many would actually be awkward, but the wings in particular have always stuck out to me as a “cosplay” item more than something anyone would seriously wear, lore-wise.

But that’s just my personal opinion, and I accept that they’re here to stay and there are going to be more and more of them going forward, especially now that gliding is a thing and making a glider / backpack pair is an easy sell for the many people who do seem to like the wings. And there are a lot of them, which is why wings aren’t going anywhere. Like capes, people have been asking for wings for a long time, and unlike capes there aren’t technical issues to work around, so they’re going to be a thing from now on. And I can live with that as long as they make a few more non-wing back items along the way.

While I personally couldn’t care less about the wings of love not getting a backpack equivalent, it does strike me as odd that they don’t have one. Given that the glider seems like a recolor of the existing wings more or less, doing the same for a backpiece would have been a no brainer.

The only “reason” I can come up with for there not being on is that they specifically said that there’d be a new glider every week in February, and so they are focused specifically on that aspect and either overlooked a backpack equivalent or it just didn’t fit the theme. Not a great reason, but its the best I’ve got.

Mastery experience and Boosters

Electro.4173

Some of the people with the ridiculous mastery point totals probably used some of the grinding methods to boost that. I’m not 100% sure what any of those methods entail as I’ve never been one to pursue the “grind it out as fast as you can” approach so I never bothered looking too far into them, but I know the big one for Central Tyria involved a dungeon with infinite enemies (I think that one is still around, too?), and there was one for HoT masteries that also involved quickly respawning spiders somewhere (think that one was nerfed). There’s probably one or two more for HoT, I think, too.

As for you personally… yah, as Yol said, you might be getting diminishing returns. Event rewards get hit with DR pretty hard after a while. It sounds like you’re just doing Verdant Brink and nothing else. Try branching off into the other zones’ metas.
