I’ve already suggested new reward tracks (but I’m sure no 1 listens to me) The current reward tracks are lame after doing like a million times and just not interesting enough to keep playing this pvp with the worst match-manipulation-matchmaking I’ve ever seen, not to mention it gets boring playing on the same maps and same game mode over and over and over with no other pvp options to choose to have something different every once in a while(A lot of people have their wings already too and the ones who don’t, most will probably quit pvp after they get them) But with a new and better reward track people might still be interested in getting farmed by higher mmr teams and organized premades if it means they will get some kind of interesting reward from it. Who knows, doesn’t hurt to try.
PS. A reward track with nothing but black lion chest keys would be cool, it would feel kinda like the good ol days of farming zaishan keys in JQ, it wouldn’t bring back the fun of guarding jade carrying juggernauts and keeping shrines alive but it would at least have that whole playing pvp to get keys thing again.
Guild Wars 1 PvP had no answer. I don’t know why some people consider GW1 monk arena and cheese arena… errm, I mean random arena and team arena to have had superior mechanics compared to GW2 PvP. Maybe it’s nostalgia, or maybe they were at the more fortunate end of things, or maybe they just don’t remember very well.
First, there were no way for a team of 2 or 3 to participate in any structured PvP worth mentioning unless they looked for pugs, played one match, disbanded, looked for more pugs, played another, disbanded, and rinse and repeat. Random Arena, you sometimes had to lose several matches in a row until you either quit out of frustration, or ended up in a team worthy of getting 10 win streaks!
Second, PvP is not just for the “gud”! The self-proclaimed pros and the like. GW1’s PvP certainly offered very little for the more laid back and not-so-gud. FA and JQ? They were jokes. GW2 match making, as flawed as it is, offers much more for that category of players.
The only PvP in GW1 that I miss, was GvG.
In GW2, Anet did separate solo and team PvP at some point. It certainly didn’t work very well.
Hey I love playing my monks (I have 3 of them), and I find gw1 pvp way more easy for beginners/casuals( didn’t you even read the many threads written by new players who tried pvp in gw2 then gave up after like 1 or 2 matches becuz it was soo difficult and confusing…) than gw2 pvp where everyone runs in and dies in less than a second and don’t even know what happened and just left laying there saying wtf. And I think the requiring you to make a full team if you wanna play as a team with people & solo players vs only solo players game modes is wayy better than this system we have in gw2 where premade teams face solo pug teams and just slaughter the heck out of the pugs repeatedly. And the putting full teams of good players against full teams of bad players with the matchmaking system we have in gw2 is the sillyest thing I’ve ever seen ( I’m sure if everyone knew how our matchmaking works more people would be inclined to stop trying, but most people don’t read forums and things so they don’t know that they are being set up to lose and therefore keep being farming material for everyone else to gain pips off of) Yea gw2 pvp is like shooting fish in a barrel…such fun much competition.
I would just not play ranked. But I want some pixels. I worked many hours in the previous seasons to get the achievs for the backpiece. I am so close that I only need some daily pvp matches. The fact that I do not need the wins does count. I know people play ranked to win. Same here. I would like to win. But if my team is toxic to me or even others in the team I do not want to help them at all and will try to avoid them….
Its a game and it should be meant for fun. Yes winning is fun but not at any cost….
Yea we all have our own ways of having fun, personally whenever I have a potty mouthed spoiled brat kitten bag kitten head yelling crap at me and insulting me I find it VERY fun to lose.
Monster, Ellie – not trying to defend them in any way, and don’t really know why you wouldn’t want a thief tbh (they’re excellent this season). But you’re queued for a ranked match, you should understand people want to win.

I know I will just not play and tab out if people are really toxic in teamchat.
I really dont like playing with hatefull people that rage the second they see something they dont like.
example: I play a thief and 1 person doesnt like a thief in his team and will say in mapchat “GG we got thief this game is lost go reroll or we all lose because of you”.
I seriously do not want to play this game with toxic people like that and chose to spend my time better. I know the rest of the team will not like it and might want to report me for not participating anymore.
But I play for fun. I log in and want to do some PVP matches and work on my backpiece. I do not want to play with people that take this game so serious like its their real life (I dont even take my real life all that serious why would I do that with a game). I rather lose fast and go to the next round and maybe have some teammates that will actually be supportive and not yell at you for doing something they do not approve of.
So I am sorry to all those people that do play the game fair for waiting a match out and maybe jumping around aimless but sometimes I just dont want to play with toxic teammates…. I really dont…
That’s exactly what I do sometimes too, I really don’t want to help some jerk talkin kitten to me to win a match, they deserve to lose and they most likely already lose most of their matches with the way they act anyways so whats 1 more loss.

If anyone does any of the above during the start of the match, I have a 90% chance of losing.

Well I guess that one isn’t always a solid indicator. And the DH one doesn’t apply if it’s one of the 3 players in NA who can actually manage it despite it’s limitations.
Everything else is a solid indicator of inexperience and/or a guy playing “just for fun”. It usually means that I have to get my pain meds ready cause I’m about to break my back carrying.
Oh that explains a lot. EU seems to be different. Here almost everybody greets their teammates, if they are somehow competent. Communications check. Wishing luck is just common courtesy, not many do it but some do. At least when somebody does it, you know they are not toxic or sore losers.
And 1 DH is fine. At least they have a good burst, and CC lockdown. They can usually hide themselves in a teamfight, and not get focused. But when there are 3 and nobody rerolls… That’s when you lose.
Yea 1 thing the internet has taught me is a lot of people seem to have been raised by wild rabid animals and have no respect or decency for other human beings, but what can you do, I guess that’s why some people turn off team chat before they play pvp, I can’t blame em.
Yea gw1 pvp and even the pve part of it to were the best I’ve ever played. That’s why I really can’t enjoy any other games, I’ve been spoiled by the epic amazingness of gw1 since it was my first game, no other game compares to it. So I guess I’m ruined for games unless some one comes out with something similar to gw1, or gw1 comes back to life and with new things like expansions and stuff (and or something similar to Pirates of the Caribbean which had some really nice fishing and fun ocean battles & nice pirate attire)
How to know when I have a good team…..Well the main thing is no 1 on my team trolls and acts like a kitten bag and gets everyone frustrated to the point where there’s no chance that we will win, negativity & toxicity usually causes more losses than anything else. And the second thing that lets me know I have a good team is that I don’t run to mid alone and actually have plenty of back up with me that’s an amazing feeling knowing some 1 has my back, cuz no matter how hard you try you will never be able to solo their team, so yea team work which is sometimes hard to get in a pug team but everyone knows pvp is all about luck in this game anyways. (And pray that you are lucky enough to not be facing an organized premade or a full team of high mmr people while you are on a random pug team full of people with low mmr)
This is why I love gw1 pvp so much(well 1 of the many reasons) You don’t have pvp game modes where premades face non premades, the original anet knew that would be very bad because of how unfair it is, ofc the premade is gonna win most of the time unless they are just completely new or sumthin( most people would know that not sure why current anet doesn’t.. or maybe they do and just don’t care) It’s full premade teams vs full premade teams or all solo players vs all solo players there. Also we have many different pvp areas and modes in gw1 with unlimited build choices for each profession. I just wish people would go back and make that place active again, you won’t ever find another pvp game as fun and makes as much sense and as diverse as that 1 ever.
UM I totally disagree, every time I salvage all my stuff that I accumulate( mainly from pvp reward tracks and killing world bosses) I have soo many matts that I run out of space in my storage to hold them and have to just sell them all on the trading post. And back when key farming was a thing I salvaged all my crap I got from doing hearts and killing low level things and always filled up my jute space really quickly and had to just start selling it. But if there’s a shortage in jute on the trade post it could be cause of no more key farming….
TS is harder to use in random solo q – that’s all I’m suggesting – not a ban.
Also, if mmr is reset, y would anyone complain? we all start on equal playing field. Everyone the same. Equality.
People will always complain about unluckiness, because team arena is a team of 5 and ur teammates might suck. That is a given. But it is much worse when ur negative mmr (cuz u tried out different classes/builds/dce’d etc in addition to ur sucky teammates and ur own lack of personal skill) will haunt u and follow u forever in pvp w/ the lack of a reset.
Ppl w/ low mmr cannot ever break out of playing w./ bad ppl, unless they pay someone to carry, or form a team w/ pros (hahahah – like theyre gonna take someone w/ low mmr). So um. What is the suggestion for ppl w/ low mmr? Getting gud doesn’t help, cuz u still r paired w/ 4 other ppl w/ low mmr (who may suck) each match, and ur pitted against winning/high mmr players. Its a recipe for endless disappointing pvp play. U know, mmr hell.

That’s why ranked isn’t worth playing anymore….the matches are fixed. If you’re not on the winning high mmr team or the organized premade you are just there to be farmed by others so THEY can get pips…wtf is the point in that. I’m not playing video games just to be some ones kitten farming material. No thanks, everyone who doesn’t have high mmr or a premade team should just quit and not give them the pleasure of fast matches and easy wins just because you are there to be farmed repeatedly.

Don’t be sad, the wings are ugly anyways they sell better looking back pieces in the gem store. I gave up on leagues at the beginning of season 2 even tho I’ve been playing ranked for 3 years, and it actually made me feel more peaceful and free like a heavy load was lifted off my shoulders. Just play unranked if you feel like playing pvp, its more fun & you don’t have to play lame boring meta builds, and save gold and buy a gem store wings ( I have 5 gem store wings and bunch of other in game back pieces that looks WAY better than those legendary wings imo, unless you love huge gigantic weird looking things swallowing you up and getting in the way and covering your cool lookin weapons) Being stressed out over a game isn’t worth it.

Well I don’t know what hes referring to as worse but I was referring to matchmaking, ( I saw it coming) and based on the many many threads on it & all the raging in HoTm I’m agreeing, also a dev already said S3 matchmaking will be a combination of S1 and S2 before S3 even started so it was an automatic yup S3’s gonna blow and I was right IDC what you say I was right. Also the lobby in HotM is looking very empty compared to the way it usually looked before. So yea something is definitely very bad that hardly no 1 wants to play it anymore.

People don’t read typing a lot and typing while playing makes you play worse, they really should add some kind of voice command thing for pvp I think it would help.

Pvp is small, and when people who are slightly interested in playing pvp go and try it just to get farmed by organized premades over and over do you really think they are gonna be having enough fun to continue playing pvp? Pvp will continue to get smaller and smaller anyways, they might as well remove team queue and just make it a solo player game mode. You will run out of team players eventually but solo players will always be a around at least enough to make a match anyways.

It is illogical to expect every trait, every weapon, every rune, etc to be designed and considered solely for PvP when the game has three modes, and ironically revs have had far more viable weapon choices since HoT than some classes in PvP.
The OP is complaining about rev hammer being too over powerd in the pvp forum which I guess means people in pvp are using hammers on their rev and its way too powerful…..which no 1 uses hammer in pvp on rev so he clearly doesn’t know what hes talking about. And revs aren’t the only ones with good weapons…..I don’t see anything better about rev weapons than other profession weapons. Like I said I get 1 shotted by thiefs while on my rev all the time. I can’t think of anything a rev is good at killing except maybe a guardian( those melt like butter).

Instead of all these nerfs every patch I suggest we all get our armor and weapons and skills removed and give everyone a loin cloth & a gun that shoots flowers, and whoever shoots the most flowers at some one the quickest wins. This sounds good lets do it!
Erm if this is a post asking why things got nerfed I have an answer.. go read the pvp forum. People there cry every day about things being over powerd and demand that everything they don’t play gets nerfed and it usually does get nerfed .
No 1 even uses hammer on rev in pvp so it must not be all that OP, and from playing revenant for a little while now I can promise you they do die pretty easily especially after all the nerfs they got… I dread playing revenant(sometimes I get 1 shotted by thiefs and don’t even have time to think what to do to avoid it) but I must at least until I get all the pvp profession achievements from it.
YES I removed mine by not playing ranked anymore and I must say it feels amazing not having a pvp tag next to my name ( it also feels pretty good not playing in 99% predetermined matches & that whole getting farmed by premades thing constantly also but that’s another story)

According to the matchmaker you belong on whatever team you’re in and should just L2p and git gud and stop blaming others(or if you want a team you can boss around and tell everyone what to do using whatever type of language you wish;preferably people who know you because random people usually will not tolerate verbal abuse, make your own team before entering). Oh and calling people names and telling them they don’t belong in the game and to leave and stuff is breaking the rules, did you even read the rules….
I decided at the beginning of season 2 not to ever play ranked ever again and my life has been soooooooooo much more peaceful because of it, the only stress I have now is real life stress…games shouldn’t be stressful and insane and shouldn’t make absolutely no sense whatsoever & if they are then they aren’t worth playing. Who wants to play rigged predetermined matches anyways, that just defeats the purpose of playing.
Speaking for the majority of the gw2 community on tumblr, we need different underwear options for everyone, even if they’re gemstone items. Probably not more than like 10 gems apiece, but in a nice variety.

It is verbal abuse and harassment, doesn’t matter if it’s online, watched plenty of true story programs about how people got sued for such things and went to jail for it and also was reading a forum post the other day from some guy in Asia who said he knew some one who spent 30 days in jail for harassing some one online, so yea it does happen there’s laws against online harassment/bullying but go on and believe whatever you want. Just because some one is being bullied online doesn’t mean they should have to leave and stop going online. Quite the opposite, the harasser should have to leave the internet and stop bothering people. You seem very angry btw, you must be one of these cyber bullies who thinks they should never have to pay for their cruel behavior…well good luck with that, karma has a way of dealing with people.

Ohhh that brings back some painful memories, the good ol premades farming pugs in every match…I’m so glad I’m not playing ranked, subjecting ones self to such stress and actually paying for it is insane imo.

The people that don’t do that in real life don’t do it because they’re interested in the social aspect and implications those harsh words may have.
You’ll find that a lot of harsh verbal violence takes place between either very close people ( where there’s a lot of anger and people feel justified) or between total strangers ( where there are no foreseeable social consequences).
If people talked that way you’d probably slap them and then they’d probably hit you back.
Violence is not the answer – I agree – but responding to verbal violence with physical violence as you suggest just shows how poorly people understand things and how unprepared you are to deal with violence of any sort in your life.

And yea in real life most people don’t go around verbally abusing others and if they do they can expect some type of retaliation which is usually physical, just because it’s the internet and you can hide behind a monitor doesn’t mean you have the right to verbally abuse anyone and I’m glad there’s report features for that, I think they should make the punishments harsher though. I mean if some one really wanted to they could record /screen shot people who harass them and sue them over it and with enough proof could win and make that person serve some time in jail/prison, it’s happened before and I’m sure it will happen again. Maybe if we had harsher punishments for it on games people would think twice before trying to bully some one and everyone can have a more happy peaceful gaming environment.

Grind out PVE for many hours and get some gold, convert into gems and spent $0 of real life money.
Why A-net went in this direction, baffles me. In GW1, if you want something from the “cash-shop” you …actually…have…to…spend …..(oh no)….Money!
There is no program or incentive for people that spend real life cash to get gold/gems. I mean, really, if I spend enough money getting pizza, I end up getting a free pizza once in a while at least.
So really, grind some PVE and convert worthless in-game gold into gems. A-Net doesn’t want your real life cash. They will just make it up in another “expansion”
Iv’e actually seen a lot of people in the game say they don’t have time or patience for farming gold so they happily spend real life money on gems to trade for gold, believe it or not there’s a lot of people out there who do that. And if they are wealthy they really don’t have anything to lose by it, and time is more precious than money for these people. I’m also guilty of buying gem cards from target and I’m not even wealthy >.<
I usually get raged at when I play terribly rather than when i beat people in a 1v1, but when on my Mesmer I have been told I should be ‘ashamed to play that class’ which I though was very funny. When I moa someone and still fail to kill them (That happens more than it should do for me, lol) a lot of the time they laugh at me and tell me I am a terrible player for not even winning the fight with an extremely OP skill.
Sometimes, I get someone who is really angry at me and says all sorts of insults to me for ages after a match is finished. To these people I usually act extremely apologetic and say how truly, sincerely sorry I am that I was put in their match. Usually they just stay angry though, but I find acting all apologetic very funny.
Occasionally, if someone is extremely angry at me for beating them/playing bad I just send them gold without saying anything else. One time I sent a random guy who I had never seen before 250 gold just because he was insulting me. The funniest part is that he SENT BACK 250 gold because he ‘wants me to play well, not send him gold if I play bad’!
UMMM can we have a raging contest and whoever rages at you the best gets 250 gold?
I agree with turning chat off. Play your game your way w/e profession you want and w/e build you want and w/e strategy you want. If chat is turned off you won’t hear any spoiled brat potty mouthed kids yelling at you and calling you names and you’ll have a much better gaming experience. Oh and listen to some cool uplifting music while you play that is always nice to, I’d recommend some Rihanna but to each their own
I sometimes wonder if they don’t want money too when looking at the outfits that they sell, they all seem to have the same theme.. big bulky and way too concealing oh yea and " butt capes". If they’d make some sexy armor or outfits maybe similar to black desert outfits(which are gorgeous) & tribal style themes I’m 100% for sure they’d get way more sales than they do off the current outfits they sell. Also whats up with no more dance books? They have had a dance volume 1 for like 2 or 3 years and never any more after that, we don’t have a lot of dances in this game compared to gw1 and other games and half the dances we do have are totally lame, so new dance books with better dances would sell I’m sure. Also makeover kits would sell more if they added more character customization options particularly body modifications( like making some parts bigger/smaller) and more hair styles & facial hair for men, maybe some make up options and body tattoos also, that would make them way more appealing.
Yea I used to have a friend on here like way wayy a long time ago when this game was more popular and we teamed together for pvp, and tbh I won more matches when I played alone than when I played with him xD. Allso its kinda stressfull teaming with people because you have to wait for them sometimes for what feels like ages just to get ready to hit enter. It’s a lot easier and less stressfull to just enter alone. But yea a voice chat thingy for pvp in this game would be VERY helpful, I don’t know about everyone else but I sure can’t play very well while typing.
PvP isn’t designed to be fun. In this game, at least.
No it’s not, and that becomes even more clear with every “update”/patch they make. Not sure what they are designing pvp for but it’s definitely not for fun or even for fair, even, competitive matches which = fun. ( It was a little bit fun when it first started and for like a year or so after that, but these days the word fun and pvp should never be in the same sentence)
We used to have better ranked matchmaking too, & lots of viable builds for each class that were actually fun, but unfortunately we’re not getting any of that back, they seem to like this crazy nonsense way better. Soo there’s only 2 options: play the crazy circus matches where most matches out comes are predetermined or don’t play any more.
Unranked is pretty fun especially since most of the mean people are in ranked atm And it feels amazing not having a pvp tag next to my name anymore…… I even had some one in my unranked team who said they were waiting in ranked queue for 25 minutes for a match and decided to just play unranked instead >.< But yay I’m so happy ranked is back wooo! (long as I don’t have to play in it)
See this is why we need new, better reward tracks, people aren’t enjoying pvp because lets face it, it’s just not fun the way it is & after they get their backpack whats left? At least a cool reward track with interesting stuff and not the current junk we have in them would be an incentive to play even if you don’t enjoy it all that much.

People that actually were bored with playing did quit some time ago.
You really try to imply that they are stupid because of being bored and yet sitting ingame.
Also people playing GW1 won’t simply admit that they spent so much life AND money in that game and don’t know how to let it go. Like EVE online for instance.
Why would some one wanna let go of a superior way more fun game just to go play something that’s newer and more flashy but not as fun. I think we are all allowed to spend our time as we see fit. And I really don’t think anyone should tell some one else what they are supposed to be doing for fun rather than what they want to do for fun.
I doubt it, since Anet more likely has long term goals and plans to continue on with GW2 with expansions and whatnot while older and newer players will continue to be logging in to keep the game going, unlike GW1 where there will most likely NEVER be any new content and expansions. Do me a favor, log into GW2 and go to LA. See how active it is? Now log into GW1 and go to LA. See the difference?

I love everything about gw1 it’s a masterpiece, nothing compares to it. I just wish it was still alive, especially all the pvp areas and elite areas like domain of anguish and underworld.
