Also if “competitive” league players don’t want rewards or people they deem unworthy to play with or against them, reward tracks could be removed from ranked and put only in unranked that would be good, so a lot of people who play pvp for fun and for rewards will have no reason to ever go any where near ranked and everyone can be happy.

I enjoy pvp and don’t even bother boring myself with grindy mindless pve I mean I do it once right after new story line stuff comes out but I just do it get it over with and usually don’t bother with it any more. But if I don’t have some kind of reward that I’m excited about I even tend to lose interest in pvp. I’d like a repeatable black lion chest key reward track that offers nothing but keys, whats the point in putting all that other junk that just gets thrown away. I don’t feel like 5 keys would be too much especially if that’s all the track has and nothing else. And yea things that people need from pve would be a good reward track too. I think gold would be a VERY good reward track reward since pvpers usually don’t farm it any where.

Is it possible to get some new reward tracks, the ones we have are kind of lame after doing them all a hundred million trillion times. And maybe some reward tracks with useful or fun things in them. I’d go for a repeatable reward track that offers 5 black lion chest keys since there’s no reliable way of getting them in game anymore. And maybe a reward track that offers gold. I think new and better reward tracks would give a lot of people more incentive to play, since they were what brought a lot of people into pvp on a more regular basis. But they do get old after a while, and I don’t know about anyone else but I sure don’t need any more dungeon armor,weapons or tokens or any of that other stuff that just gets deleted.

Unranked is a zillion times better than ranked, ranked puts full teams of newbie players against full teams of experienced players… Most people don’t like that, there’s no point in a match like that. If you’re on the newbie team you’ll be better off just afking the entire match than going in and dying instantly repeatedly. Why don’t you guys leave unranked matchmaking alone and stop trying to mess it up like ranked is atm and just wait for ranked it will be back very soon. If you make both ranked AND unranked match ups horrible there’s not gonna be any place for those who like even, fair matches every once in a while to play anymore…..

Yea what you described is something you made up in your mind, it’s not actually real that’s why I didn’t wanna respond… From what I experience you have to try in unranked not get carried like in ranked where you farm newbies all day and a couple people in ur team can afk and you’d still win by a land slide. Some matches in unranked are bad but there’s a whole lot more good, fair, competitive therefore fun matches in unranked than in current ranked imo.(Some completely new players who never stepped foot in pvp and had no idea how to play it made it to legendary last season simply because they were lucky enough to get put on the team with mostly experienced players while farming entire teams of newbies, that’s what I call getting carried)

Well I didn’t see any scrappers in that video but personally I have way more trouble killing a good druid than scrapper, scrapper has been nerfed a lot, they used to be way tankyer.

Pleasee give us sexy armor we have none and body modifications in the makeover kits, these body types just aren’t realistic we need to be able to make some parts bigger oh yea and more dance books with cooler dances like tribal dances. And tribal armor many versions of it most people love tribal armor.

A close score doesn’t equal a fun and competitive match.

If a close score doesn’t equal a competitive match what does?

Fighting with and against players close to your skill level. And no that doesn’t always result in a close score.

Maybe you’re just way too good?! lol….sorry but a close score shows the “teams” were equally matched in skill and strategy. It may not be “fun” per your original statement but common sense would dictate that it is in fact competitive.

True, equally skilled players matched together doesn’t always result in a close score but that’s mostly due to costly mistakes.

Alright, I will do a quick example. Let’s say we have two teams. Each team has two Pro League players of equal skill, the other 6 players in the game are first timers. Will the score be close? Probably. Will the people playing enjoy that “competitive” match? I’m not sure we are using that word in the same meaning.

That’s a fair even match though. The 2 good players on each team have to lead and let the other 3 people know what to do, so the best leader and strategist wins and deserves to. When you have a full team of newbies like we did in last season vs a full team of non newbies that’s not a fair match and no 1 learns anything from being slaughtered repeatedly, and I’m sure most of them quit pvp by now, who would enjoy such meaningless, senseless insanity…….

I think its funny and just really weird how other people get offended by how you make your own personal character. Why can’t we have more options to modify our characters to make them how we want them, I really don’t see how it bothers anyone else they don’t have to look at it. I find some people’s characters extremely annoying to look at so I just stop looking at them, easy solution.

This is an interesting question. Mid season unranked matchmaking was pretty good, despite a beginner here and there most people knew what they were doing, nobody gave a crap about builds or team composition.
We just played what we liked and it worked.
Whilst in ranked we had ‘mmr hell’ we just played the game and had reasonably close matches.

Now, between the seasons with all the ’competitive’s flooding back into unranked most matches end up being very onesided, duplicate classes are being blamed for losses and, in contrast to what you would exspect, there are a lot more bad players around.
Worse yet, nobody takes it serious.
As soon as a team gets stomped at mid someone stopped playing or started raging.
I have seen a pug team afk’ing the entire match because they had a dc.

In other words: when ranked was available, they had matchmaking problems due to a lot of bad players.
When ranked became unavailable unranked started to have matchmaking problems due to a lot of bad players.
Strange coincidence.
But of course ranked is competitive. Only the best even go there. Worse players are scared of the competition and rather train then farming the extra rewards and the meaningless ranks.

Actually a LOT of new players who don’t usually play pvp were playing ranked because of the shiny back piece they wanted so bad. Trust me I know because I was put on full teams of them until I finally just quit. And I don’t see an issue with them playing there but they definitely shouldn’t be playing as a full team of newbies(minus 1 or 2) against a full team of very experienced players. That’s crazy.

I really don’t see how some one having large breasts is sexual, a lot of people are made that way and why can’t they be represented in games. Not all of us are extremely thin flat stick figure types, but if you look at our game here you’d think that that’s the way all humans are. I’d just say we need more body modification options in makeover kits to make certain areas bigger if we want.

This is where the fps genre is miles ahead… Gears of war, unreal, battlefield, call of duty… All of those games have authentic female characters these days that actually look like they are ready for a fight.

My favorite warrior of all time Xena,( yea fictional but I don’t care I love her, besides this game is also fictional…..) she wore sexy armor while kicking kitten and she was stronger than 10 men… So if she can do it then so can I. End of story.

That is pure insanity. I’d say most of the people who experienced that probably quit already so you won’t hear them complaining, most of the complaints about unranked is most likely from the people who were doing the farming in ranked. So i can understand them complaining now that things are more even and they have to try more, but don’t worry I’m sure ranked will start back up soon.

I’ve just stopped PvPing. I’ve been logging in less and less. I only really do dailies, and some WvW, now that Anet has managed to breathe life back into it. The sPvP though, I’ve just stopped, as I haven’t found it fun for a while now.

Been looking at Battleborn and Overwatch for PvP.

That’s mostly what I do these days too, log in do both pvp daily wins then lose interest and leave, unless I’m extremely bored and just don’t have anything else I wanna do or procrastinating from doing laundry and stuff XD If they added some different reward tracks or something that has something useful in it I think that would make it more interesting to play more. wth what I said in my post IS key farming…make a new character, dress it up nice use some tomes do a few missions get a key delete and redo, at least it’s how I farmed em, not sure how everyone else farmed theirs. You can’t enjoy key farming. You must mean you like opening boxes. Otherwise you’d be farming something else like silverwastes and turning gold into gems to buy keys. Same diff if you really liked farming.

And I’m sure you can see why it was stopped, it’s a major revenue stream.

Well believe it or not I actually did enjoy key farming( and having a use for my thousands of tomes of knowledge) and never will try to enjoy any other type of farming because I find it all painfully boring. There was a certain excitement from making a new character and dressing it up in a different outfit and different look from the last character I made. And I don’t think key farming messed with their revenue it took ages to accumulate a lot of keys, I only farmed like 3 a day. Also I’m sure the people who buy keys never did a lot of key farming. I’m a key farming addict, that’s all I did in gw1 too after I did everything else I just spent the rest of my years on their farming zaishan keys, while enjoying the super fun pvp they had to offer….too bad its dead these days.

Well there is a few people on this game that actually like blow out matches where the other team does not stand a chance, but I’m positive there’s more people who prefer a close competitive match where both sides has to try and both sides actually have a chance of wining. If you don’t stand a chance of winning because of your match up that just defeats the whole purpose of playing. And that’s why you’ll see more and more people quitting pvp because of the few who want to keep things the way they are and not make anything fair or worth wasting time doing. I don’t even think a child would agree to play a game if you told them…. here lets play a game, I’m going to win of course and you stand absolutely no chance at all of winning and I’m going to beat you really badly but lets play it anyways. Pretty sure they’d start crying and run away to go do something else, but here we have adults/teenagers wanting to play such games and actually think its the way it should be…It just blows my mind.

Nobody said close competitive matches are bad. Unranked doesn’t offer competitive matches though, you could be teamed with ESL players or total newbs because of the way the matchmaking system works.

For some people it’s like fighting 4 NPCs and 1 player while having 4 NPCs yourself. That’s not fun or competitive. The quality of team mates and enemies vary far too greatly to be of any fun.

Season 2 ranked had its own share of problems but so does unranked.

I agree that SOME matches are bad in unranked but as you can see from my screen shot you also get some matches that are VERY close. And personally I find way more close and competitive matches in unranked than in the current ranked. That’s why I probably won’t ever play ranked again. But I sure can’t wait until they put ranked back so people can finally stop begging for it, and so I can remove my pvp tag thing it’s really annoying me and doesn’t match my outfits at all.

Took me awhile to learn my lesson regarding pvp in mmorpgs. I was stuck in Neverwinter for longer than i care to admit, perpetually chasing the next tier of pvp gear and the latest top enchantments just so I wouldnt be at a disadvantage when I queue. I was blind to the blatant class imbalance and the intended inequality that the devs imposed on the players in order to boost sales. GW2 doesnt sell you gear, Arenanet’s goals are more complex and their actions more subtle. Still they refuse to aknowledge class stacking and the fact that pemades stomp pugs way too often. This tells me the pvp in GW2 is heading in a bad direction and I need to gtfo. So thats what im doing.

Oh I think they acknowledge it at least a little bit, I feel like they just don’t care that much about solo players, they removed solo queue just so premade teams could get more matches since they weren’t getting a lot when solo and team queue were separated. And that gave team players more matches and easier wins but solo players got the short end of the stick on that deal. And by all the changes they did to the game it looks like they are leaning more towards making team players more happy than solo players, for example removing solo queue from pvp, making it impossible to do anything with a solo person guild, focusing so much attention on fractals and raids, making HoT maps impossible to do solo and so on. Not much you can do except try to enjoy it as much as you possibly can, join some kind of group or quit. I know I don’t play anywhere near as much as I used to.

I don’t get frustrated, whenever I get put on an all solo player team or not so pro premade or half premade and we have to face an organized premade, after a few really bad wipes usually our team just goes afk and waits for it to end. Not much you can do in a battle like that except wait for it to end. So unless they ever put back solo queue(and remove making match ups based on mmr)you can’t really take the pvp too seriously here. Just do the best you can if you can, if you can’t then just wait for it to end, eventually you’ll get put in a better match if you handle waiting for such a match. Unless you’re playing ranked, if that’s the case then no you probably won’t stand a chance, ranked isn’t worth it anymore(unless you’re one of the lucky ones who gets put on the predetermined winning team) they screwed it up majorly.

Let me just add, mastering the art of druid bunkering/healing takes a LOT of practice, it’s not something you can learn easily or quickly like some might suggest. Also you will get focused a lot if people think you’re keeping your teammates alive. I’d just go with keeping my distance and using a long bow with lots of self sustain skills, and make sure you use your pet skills to make them target what you are trying to kill.

Hey I’m only playing revenant because it’s the only thing I haven’t got all the profession pvp achievements on yet (and because it’s my only sylvarie and it looks cool especially when it glows) But seriously I hate how I die to almost everything when I play it, it really feels weak to me.

Propper keybinds are a must. That or invest in an MMO mouse (like a razer naga) and play until you have the muscle memory to hit the right buttons with your thumb etc.

If you are familiar, running a sound build is a must. Knowing your class and what each skill does is a must. Then knowing when/how to engage/disengage is a must.

Pretty much you need to be a pro if you want to succeed XD That or just play a mindless spammy class/spec that’ll hold you up while you get more comfortable with the general flow of incoming kitten flying your way.

Naa I disagree man, I pretty much smash my keyboard with my face on this game and kill things, I don’t think it’s hard at all but it is VERY different from other games skills so if you’re not used to it you should keep your distance from the enemy and shoot at em from far away and bring defensive skills too cuz you can get 1 shotted on here very easily if you’re not careful. Also never go anywhere alone ALWAYS bring back up if you can that’s very helpful since a lota people like to zerg you on here. That’s why rangers good if no 1 wants to help you at least you have your pet.

Lolz, yessssssssss this game needs sexier armor does it not? Whatever you do you must do in style otherwise whats the point in doing it. And I don’t really main anything I play everything equally except thief I kinda hate thief and I suck at it so I feel sorry for whoever gets teamed with me when I’m on thief xD But if you ask my statistics thing it says engineer is my favorite profession and legacy of the foefire is my favorite map.

The biggest thing is build choice without a reliable build and us seeing your skill level its hard to help you, i would recommend dueling someone to practice and posting your favorite builds here so people can help you find better builds if you arent running good ones. Posting a video here could help too but if you do prepare for all the supperiority complexes…try to find someone you know you cant beat who knows your class well so they can help you with combos and you can work on reaching their level of play and remember practice makes perfect so it is okay to lose if you are learning and practicing. Atm being ranked is closed i am doing a lot of this myself, trying to 1v3 on my bunker druid to try and figure out how to last as long as possible, trying to work on my rotations and keeping myself in good postion when enemies are coming off of spawn, and working on utilizing fields more when not solo queing for full team effect.

The OP is right actually. I’ve lost a lot of casual friends from GW2 “people I know in real life even” who don’t play often enough to be able to keep up with every single game changing patch that happens. They will sit down and learn a certain spec, which takes time for casual players. They may even grow to very much enjoy playing that spec. Then a couple months down the road, a patch hits and everything changes on them.

The only players in this community who really keep up competitively are the ones who play every day, who are investing the kind of time required to keep up and adapt immediately to every change that happens. It’s true, GW2 is not a game for casual players anymore.

Even in pve when a patch hits, if you don’t have the funds to revise your gear and get appropriate setups, you’re kitten out of luck. Casuals don’t tend to have 100s of gold laying around to revise their gear on demand like that.

Honestly arena-net needs to crunch out some time and find a good balance point to let the game settle on. It would bring a lot of players back to the game if there was some stability in their time invested to learn play styles.

Yea that’s 1 thing I REALLY hate about this game is I find a build I love then BAM a patch hits like a bomb and blows all my stuff to absolute pure uselessness then I gotta start over with a different build that I don’t like anywhere near as much as my previous 1 that has become useless. You won’t feel the same kind of joy in gw2 pvp as you did in Ab simply because it’s not anywhere near as fun as Ab or other gw1 pvp . Also the skills in gw1 were more fun and you had endless build possibilities there , not to mention you never had premade teams vs non premade teams, that wasn’t even allowed in gw1 because of how unfair it is, it’s not competitive to have an organized team against a non organized team of pugs. The only thing you can hope for is gw1 ab coming back to life, it does a little bit during double point week. But you have to show up early it ends pretty quickly.

TBH I can’t wait for ranked to come back so I can remove this stupid pvp tag thing off my name and never get another 1 ever again, I don’t want the traumatic experience that was S2 matchmaking lingering around next to my name anymore, and whoever said ranked atm is like hotjoin you are correct, all you need is luck of being put on the best team and the other team doesn’t have a chance, it’s like sending in the wolves to slaughter the lambs, not sure how people call that competitive but idc give them their ranked back already so they can stop crying & begging and so I can get rid of this pvp tag. I love face tanking dragon hunter traps and taking almost no damage then melting them, It doesn’t work on all professions/builds or when you’re facing a REALLY smart DH, but when it does work its pretty funny

Yea I came to this game expecting gw1 pvp type stuff too since it has the name guild wars but boy was I disappointed. It’s nothing like gw1 and doesn’t have tons of pvp areas to go to play either. But if you wanna play it I recommend something ranged like ranger, look up a tanky build and don’t go close to the enemy team stay as far back as possible and shoot at em at least long enough until you learn how to play better. That’s what I did when I was new and it worked very well

I did a whole thread about premade vs pug, but tbh I don’t even complain that much about premade vs pug in unranked anymore after I experienced the match ups in ranked in S2… Seems things just go farther and farther downhill with each “update” I don’t even take pvp seriously anymore how can anyone.

So season 3 will be another smurf fest? Have you given up any hope of increasing the pvp population with new players? Considering most of the forum have admitted to having multiple accounts, being smurfed over and over won’t attract anyone.

This is what I’ve been trying to say, but you say it better. Why do they listen to the few people talking on forums using more than 1 account to talk on here also just to make it look like a lot more people than it actually is and give them everything they ask for while destroying a lot of other people’s gaming experience. And considering how much better pvp was in the beginning compared to now I’d say it’s been going on for quite some time. If you guys want a REAL idea of what people want why not do an in game poll/survey type thing. Not many people go to forums and such. And when most people get upset over changes that cause them to no longer enjoy the game they don’t complain about it they just quit and find something better to do.

Yess please add sexy gw1 armor to go with the gloves or let us wear the gloves and gem store head pieces with outfits since it’s all gem store stuff. I don’t have any nice enough armor to make me want to stop wearing outfits. Like this.

No you are right, the old queues were cool especially when we had solo queue and team queue those were better days, way more fun and even matches. The problem is the league and the matchmaking that came along with it, all these people farming newby teams all of a sudden think they are more elite and pro now and shouldn’t have a some what newby person in their team ever again and it angers them.

My rev isn’t OP at all, at least not in pvp. I kill revs all the time on my warrior using nothing but a long bow and it’s pretty easy they melt like butter.

Yes totally listen to him, carry your entire team that doesn’t have a clue what they are doing against a full team of people who know exactly what they are doing, sounds fun.
