I’ve been discussing HoT’s content with someone before, and I told him that I get the feeling that it isn’t close to what an xpac should be. Then our discussion ended with “well it will depend on the price”. And now look, I was right all along.
So far, here’s what I know we’re getting for sure:
1. New 1 zone, the vertical one. The way they emphasized a lot of times the verticality of this new zone makes me think that this is all we gonna get. A single zone with a lot of floors.
2. New Guild Halls – okay new one! excited about this.
3. New PVP Stronghold
4. New masteries
5. New/Sort of elite spec for each profession (good for you if the new elite works out for your class, if not sorry)
6. New/Sort of 1 weapon choice for each profession (some only get offhand, and tough luck if that new weapon is actually useful on your class)
7. New profession!!! Woot!
8. Replaced borderlands – I repeat, replaced. The new bl maps are supposed to replace the old one, so it means, technically, it’s not part of HoT. Don’t tell me old players who won’t buy the xpac won’t have access to wvw bls?
9. Reworked Normal Specialization – in short, re-worked trait system. Not included in HoT.And now I believe that is all? How is that even on par with the content available in the base game? There were no mentions of new dungeons and fractal maps even.
It’s like they’ve thrown in the bonus base game to justify the $50 price tag.
If you compare this to what you got for paying $60 for the original game, your list falls quite short of kitten value.

12. New Fractals + ascended gear + lvl 500 crafting.
13. Many many many new skins
14. New pvp maps
15. New Guild Missions
16. New WvW ranks

And all for free in the base game.

Ok! If I understand carefully what you guys are saying, the cost is too much and the content not enough. Care to remind you guys that the game is a non subscribe game. And one expansion on 3 years for 50$ and you guy are freaking out? As I recall, most of the game now that are either paid to play or on consoles requires you to buy multiple expansion for 30$ on one year only. But hey one xpac for 50$ over 3 years is way more worth then you think boyz. Unhappy, quit whinning like baby and delete the game!
Exactly. People always forget about all the FREE content they recieved besides the 50$ core game.
So let’s say the expansion is worth 25$.
You pay another 25$ for having the living story and newcomers pay another 25$ for the core game.
Looks fair to me.
As a veteran you are basically paying for the living world content now, that new players will never have and that you got for free.
Would it be fair for newcomers to pay for the core game and the expansion if they never had the chance of experiencing the living story?

If you are too much disturbed by the idea of a “healing trap”, don’t forget that necromancers got “wells”, only one of which is a healing one. It is the same mechanism except for the skill type name.
And the same bs.
In a game with this kind of dynamic combat you just need instant heal.

It will be fun to see all the big world bosses dying in like 1/2 of the time now.
If you know how to play thief you will be even more op than now.
I will stick to my well o’ mancer.
Max power, Max crit, Max fun.
Perfect survivability in WvW, pretty nice gameplay in PvP and nobody cares about PvE.
I thought it was 2.5 sec…
But about that dodge thing…the thief just goes to stealth and you don’t have any chance to evade the first cast and any after that is impossible as well because of the fear.
And and the only thing you’d have to do is spam hearseaker until your hands get numb.
And imagine the necro ability…with double cast you can nonstop fear 10 seconds if you steal twice. (And poor necs don’t even have a useful stunbreak or stability)
I’ve never found this skill OP… people just like to imagine so because they see so many icons but it really isn’t. The duration is already low.
10 Seconds Protection, Regeneration, Fury, Vigor, Swiftness and 3 Seconds Stability is a low duration?
Now double this and imagine having this amount of buffs in a 1v1.
I’m playing a full Power well ‘o mancer and I am totally fine with it in every area, except of pvp tournaments where you really don’t have a chance.
(normal pvp,pve,wvw is all fine)
So no problem for me.
Every MMO I play, I play ranger and mesmer types. I always max out quick, take a break and come back JUST IN TIME for major ranger and mesmer nerfs, while necromancers and warriors always get buffed.
What is it with MMO’s and ranger-hate?
Necromancers get buffed?
Necros are one of the weakes classes in gw2 considering self defense.
No stealth, no invulnerability, 1 useless stability well, totally useless stun breaks and so on.
You can deal damage, but if they catch you they got you (which is fairly easy with the 213480 cc’s most classes have)
Warriors are definitly op in this game but necros are very well balanced imo.

Grenades now have a standart range of 1200.
Grenades are 900 now.
In fact apart from the mortar kit engineers now have nothing that can shoot farther than 1000 (Rifle autoattack) as it seems they have removed the range increase traits from rifle/elixir gun and pistol

It just occurred to me: Did engis lose deployable turrets?
Our granades are reduced to 900 range and we’re losing deployable turrets? Say it isn’t so! Engis were the best class to take out siege in WvW by far.
I mean, I generally like a lot of the changes engis are getting, so I’m sure I’ll adapt, but man… I liked kittening off people on the walls.
Grenades now have a standart range of 1200.
And about the guys crying about condi nec: I also dislike the change but I just assume that this nerf will be necessary to prevent the reaper from beeing op.
I still don’t read ‘Players are no longer able to fulfill the finishing move while in mist form’

Are most viz players slacking or do you really fall back so hard without 4-5 famous commanders?
Dear vizunah, I understand that you want to save your spawncamp at piken border and ofc you don’t want us to have supplies. But maybe you didn’t recognise that supply traps don’t give negative supplies.
Next time you should better spend your supplies for building more ac instead of about 20-30 Supply traps while we were fighting for about 25 minutes in your camp.
Just focus on building ac. We can’t summon supplies from nowhere and traps don’t give you negative supplies
PS: nice defense…you finally got us with 40+ ppl then and as always, thank you for the bags even though it was impossible to take the camp.
I think a very good solution would be to have better rewards but the same for 7 weeks (harder) wvw achievements OR 7 Weeks living story. (Maybe 6 weeks wvw and 6 weeks living story to keep the 2 weeks-rythm)
WvW players would be rewarded too and PvE players could go on with 24/7 grinding. And I’m sure if it’s just about the reward then it’s much easier to farm living story than WvW.
So you would have for example 3×2 weeks living story about the tower of nightmare and the achievements and after this scarlets plans go on for another 6 weeks (just not about the tower anymore) and in the same 6 weeks you could have the WvW achievements where you can get the same end-reward like after 6 weeks living story content (which is also no problem if it’s more than 1 of each ascended material…)

YayPlease tell me that’s from way earlier today. I zoned into psbl this morning, saw them at spawn and told the map it was a lame thing to do. I had hoped they would just let them despawn.
This was seen a lot on NA maps. Was hoping it wouldn’t come over this way. I’ll try to find out who’s doing it, but I can’t do much more than ask them not to. Piken tends to play honorably. This kind of thing discredits that rep.

Hmmm Piken too our Tower on VS border and VS took our tower on Pikenborder before they even thought about attacking hills… I’m sure there won’t be any double teaming this week

Just say “thank you for the bags running to us” we always have to use rams and get pierced by your ac just for some bags
But im wonder how big is the ego and how much confidencethey have on ther skils the players from SFR and RS from the moment that 2 very high servers nead to team up and work toogether -and admit that they do that-so they win a high server..so im also a bit disapoind from those 2 servers,,i was expected more

And still…Server population and WvW success has as much to do with each other like Viz beeing 1st and Canadians…

2 hours mapwide lags, Dollys took like 10x longer because they stood still, a tower we capped took 2(!) minutes to take with a constantly clear circle and Stargrove which i tried to upgrade had 11-12 minutes buff.

I don’t care about waiting 1hour in que, imagined double teaming (which just means bags from 2 sides) if i could play in wvw….
I especially hate that guilds can almost do nothing because they are almost always wiped by autoattack-lololol-roflstomp-blobs and can’t cast anything…
Well Piken i guess you are pretty piissed because we sneaked your garri with 15 ppl (nobody thought that kitten would work xD)

Neather blobbing in our Part and wiping all the time nor attacking a fully sieged hill for hours does match in any way with these sentences.
But it was a really funny day. It was just like:
piken at our tower, viz on north hills→ piken going for north hills…viz just leaves when they saw them and went to our spawncamp→viz going for south hills→both wiped→viz going for north hills,piken going for tower
and this since 3pm without taking anything till about 8pm … not even our spawn camp!
Double Teaming? No way!

Usually it’s not a problem if you get bugged in a tower and jump out immedatly but i think the pic says everything.
