You should check that Season 2 instance again, with her holo recordings.
She created the steam creatures, via “black market dredge” dealings, before undergoing Omadd’s machine.
She also trained under charr, norn, asura, and hylek before that moment too, in lore-breaking Mary Sue manners. Per the short story.
I’m not sure how her previous dealings with the Dredge before the creation of the MA is somehow lore breaking. They’re an aggressive race, but they aren’t totally without reason on matters, especially considered it was a black market deal. All she would have needed to do was find a shady Dredge willing to part with his iron if the price was right.
Mary Sue manners? Yes, but no one was arguing that. Was it lore-breaking though? Close, but I wouldn’t say totally. Beigarth and the Hylek seem to be nice enough that they would take on students if they’re eager and willing enough to learn, and she only got into the Asura colleges because Omadd wanted to study her. The only outlier is Asagai, but it wouldn’t take much to spin a story about why a lonely old gladium might want to pass on his skills before he passes.
It would be incredibly cool fighting alongside steam creature allies against the dragons and their minions as they can’t be corrupted by dragons due to the way they’re built, can withstand quite a beating thanks to their armor, and are known to be quite strategic as they become more intelligent and adapt over time (as we learn e.g. in Scarlet’s holo diary).
Their ultimate leader, a giant Steam Brain, could also use a hologram of Ceara to communicate with outsiders. I could see it.
Unless he somehow lost the power during his weakening (or if he’s dead already), I’d probably vote for Lazarus the Dire simply because of Spectral Agony. The Seers seemed to probably gone totally extinct, and we aren’t sure if Blimm’s research from the WiK survived or not. So, Seer infusion or spectral infusion might not be around to provide adequate protection any longer.
Tell that to the Molten Alliance, Steam creatures, Toxic Alliance, and Aetherblades.
She broke the lore where she couldn’t normally get resources, in order to get resources. Nothing was out of her reach.
I’m strictly talking about Ceara before her contact with Mordremoth and not Scarlet’s lore breaking story afterwards. She only started to make those alliances to more easily gather and create resources after she came into contact with Mordremoth, and he started to push and shape her actions increasingly over time.
If she never came into contact with him, Ceara would probably still be a wandering academic genius with sociopathic tendencies and horrible social skills.
Even without Mordremoth’s influence, it’s entirely likely that Ceara would have found her own way to becoming a villain – perhaps not quite so impactful (more along the lines of Kudu performing morally reprehensible research than waking up an elder dragon), but that was the direction she was going.
I could have probably seen Ceara becoming a begrudging ally if she wasn’t corrupted/influenced by Mordy. Because even while she has the morally dubious nature like the Inquest, she doesn’t really have the resources to be able to expand her research like they do. Allying with the Pact would have opened up a lot of connections for her to use, since they would supply the resources for her to conduct experiments and it would put her in touch with experts in their field from all over Tyria.
She would have filled that “mad scientist the good guys employ because the bad guys are just that bad” spot.

I wouldn’t know what to think if Primordus does wind up with wings when they finally reveal him. It just wouldn’t make much sense given the size of Elder Dragons and the fact that he’s underground in probably very enclosed spaces 99.99% of the time.
Maybe like Konig said, with him being more wyvern-like, the front limbs can double as both digging claws and wings, but just straight up wings? I just can’t see it. Though, I could also see them taking a cue off of Mordy concept art too. They could keep his front half as a wyvern, with the claw/wings and head, but his back half could be more wyrm (the limbless variety) like.
Or maybe they’ll go totally off the wall and make him a gigantic molten mole dragon.

/sigh
This theory has been around for so long the devs even put in a funny book into the Priory about it…
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dragons_and_Gods
“A scholarly argument for the symmetry between Elder Dragons and the human gods. Unfortunately, by the end, it is clear that no proof exists to support this theory.”
The Elder Dragons are older, is it possible that the gods were created to combat them for spheres of influence? Or to take over those spheres while the Elder Dragons slept? After all the gods disappeared around the time the dragons’ and their minions started stirring.
As counterpoints, the Six (or humans for that matter) aren’t native to Tyria (the world) at all. Dwayna brought them to here after their original homeworld got ravaged by an unknown calamity.
Secondly, the gods started to pull back their influence on Tyria after the war with Abaddon. Which was over thousand years before the first stirrings of Primordus. The only reason they still had any contract with their followers between those two times was because they were still monitoring Abaddon. Once he was dead and Kormir took his place, they pulled back completely to allow humans to grow on their own without their interference.
Third, Kormir, Abaddon, and Grenth aren’t originally gods. Grenth took over after him and his reapers overthrew Dhuum, and Kormir took over from Abaddon who took over from an unknown predecessor. That means you would have to throw out both Abaddon and Grenth from the equation given your reasoning for throwing out Kormir.
Fourth, Kralk has nothing to do with chaos other than certain branded plants and the color purple. The color purple is also shared by Mordremoth’s vines, Risen corrupted parts in Cursed Shore, and Abaddon, and I’m sure as Konig might tell you; the devs have said that they use that color to represent evil at times in GW.

They likely wouldn’t be numerous, and their continued existence would be questionable with no way to “reproduce” but they could definitely provide interest to the region.
That does open up another line of questioning regarding their existence, because Glint didn’t seem to have a problem giving “birth” to Glimmer, the numerous eggs from the Dragon’s Lair mission, the egg that’s now in Tarir, and possibly the crystal spiders and guardians.
We know that the Forgotten ritual servers the mental domination aspect between a dragon minion and its master, but are we sure if it servers the connection to their magic and its corruptive nature? It could be possible that a powerful enough Risen could corrupt or “give birth” in the same manner that Glint did.
To me, the only playable undeads that might make sense would be from Joko’s forces in Elona. But if we’re getting another playable race from Elona, I think I would rather have a unique take on the djinn. Though that idea is a whole nother kettle of fish.
That stated, if it’s not in the game it’s not canon! Feel free to RP, though.
I feel a great disturbance in the lore, as if numerous out of game lore articles and interviews cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has just happened.

An interesting development… I wonder what it means?
I’ll be greatly disappointed if she doesn’t use an identification kit on it, because that item is just asking for one.
I’m honestly shocked with this turn of events. I never thought I would come to see such a thing to occur. Shocked, I say, shocked!
We must all prepare ourselves! For the Elder Economy Dragon will surely start his reign of terror by attacking our wallets and the tp!
There must be some way of getting close to Jormag, with or without wards, since he already had a tooth knocked out by a Norn.
If I do recall, the Norn was empowered by the Spirits of the Wild and the magic of an ancient Jotun scroll at the time of said punching. So there is a big fat asterisk by that encounter as well.
Hehe, we need a How It Should Have Ended gw2 edition.
Captain’s Council: So, you’re saying that this slyvari, Scarlet Briar, is going to be attacking Lion’s Arch with a fleet of sky pirates and other nefarious groups?
Kiel: Yes.
CC: And that it would be the best idea for everyone to instal air defenses and be on high alert?
Kiel: Well, yes…
CC: Sure, why not. After what happened at Dragon Bash, that sounds like a good idea.
~~Cuts to Trahearne looking on as Scarlet’s fleet is shot down over LA and her forces quickly cut down by Lionguard and Order forces.~~
Trahearne: How does everyone feel like going to Elona to take down Kralkatorrik?
While I agree that sylvari do grow most of their tools (technology in itself), Scarlet should still not be left out. No technology is developed in a vacuum after all and more often than not small upgrades and modifications make the big impact. Fusing completely different technologies together is impressive imo.
I don’t think we’ve seen many if any people actually do anything with her technology. There are probably a couple Priory scholars studying it, Aetherblades might be using some of her upgrades, and the Humans reverse engineered her steam creatures to make their watchworks, but that’s about it.
Taimi, if anyone, would have been the best candidate to start incorporating Scarlet’s designs into her own, but Anet seemed to drop the ball on that regard. Which, to me, kinda makes Scarlet’s whole lore situation kinda worse. They already had to take a lot of liberties trying jam and explain everything she did in the story, and now that she’s dead they seem to be trying to turn a blind eye to any and all ramification to her actions other than her awakening Mordremoth.
In an ongoing war against creatures with large armies and the power to easily destroy cities and reshape the land itself, why wouldn’t we be using and repurposing Scarlet’s technology? Heck, the twisted watchwork designs by itself would be a huge boon to the Pact’s forces. As long as the menders are still functional, they would be able to just keep repairing themselves and the other twisted watchworks and keep going into battle against dragon minions.
(edited by Erukk.1408)
Trahearne: Groves untutored by Ventari’s tablet. Do those sylvari dream, I wonder? What inspires them?
<Character name>: If Faolain finds out, she won’t need the Grove. The court will burn the Pale Tree to the ground and find one they can more easily twist to nightmare.
Trahearne: Yes. If that happens, the sylvari race will be no more. Tyria will fall into darkness.
I always found that thought kinda interesting. If other Pale Trees and the sylvari that they birth have no connection to the Dream (and by extension the Nightmare), how exactly would the NC “twist it to Nightmare” or make their sylvari fall to nightmare?
I can understand the NC trying to break them physically and mentally like they usually do with the Dreamer sylvari, but would the non-Dreamers react in the same way? Dreamers, when they fall to Nightmare, usually seem to want to go and carry out acts of evil to feed and grow the Nightmare portion of the dream, but would that still apply to those that have no constant connection to ethereal nightmare fuel pushing them towards such acts?
(edited by Erukk.1408)
Because the Pale Tree (supposedly) used the human form as a template when creating the Sylvari. Malyck’s very being puts that into question, but until we get some verification on the matter, that’s what we have to go with as of now.

Well Salvation Pass tells us about the return of Mursaat, maybe that’s what the sacrifices are for, to ascend into one or resurrect one.
Wings 1 and 2 only really have shown us the machination of the White Mantle, and the closing cinematic in Wing2 was mostly just describing the Mursaat’s general backstory and saying that the WM was still active in the shadows. Something we have known for the last 3 years for anyone that has done the human PS.
The only real big hint in the cinematic was them showing the group of Mursaat. All but one of them dying and fading out, and them closing the cinematic focusing in on the lone survivor. Not all the spoiler-y since we knew Lazarus was probably still out there somewhere, but it foreshadowed more than it actually told.
I haven’t played much Inquisition, but isn’t Red Lyrium basically normal lyrium which has been corrupted by Darkspawn blood?
For Bloodstones to be the equivalent, it would mean corrupted by dragon energy, but that would mean using it would corrupt the users – e.g., all of humanity for the past 1,000 years. The Bloodstones seem to be more likely to be anti-Elder Dragons, so I rather doubt that.
It’s regular lyrium that carries the Blight, yes. Though, the comparison I was making wasn’t so much that it was possibly corrupted by ED magic, but more to do with the effects of they have on people when possibly handled in their raw form (hearing things (the Song in DA and possibly Gods in GW), psychological damage, and now seemingly the ability to consume and grow on the user).
I wonder if it could possibly deal with the raw magical exposure from being in the presence of large Bloodstone chucks and/or unique properties from the Bloodstone themselves. And while they may not have been corrupted by the Elder Dragons, it’s still possible that the death of one nearby could still possibly effect them in some unknown way. The shards and chucks in Arah that effected Randall were next to ground zero of Zhaitan’s death, and the chuck Matthias was dealing with probably got hit with a wave of residual magic just like the rest of the raid area.
The lack of effects from Bloodstone Dust could possibly be handwaved as it being a “safe” refined form or weakened product of the Bloodstone.
What’s interesting to me, however, is the Mini Matthias Abomination. It looks like a human had bloodstone fragments melded into its body.
Almost looks like something out of DAI. I certainly hope that Bloodstone stuff isn’t going to turn into Tyria’s version of red lyrium. Just think off all the stuff we shellac that on!
Though, just to make sure, I’m calling dibs on the rights of Lazarus=Corypheus jokes. Powerful ancient beings from time past, bent on revenge, delusions of grandeur, has personal cult, and associated with corrupting red crystals? The similarities are stacking up. lol
Better if it had been the Foefire.
Another interesting RPing idea, if they go with the Foefire method, is that the guardian could be something like a free Foefire ghost in the same manner as Bria. The time difference could be explained away as them either being bound or something blocking their reformation, and him or her appearing as a living human is simply because s/he thinks they’ve never died in the first place. Thus, the illusion is constantly maintained subconsciously.
Character building moment after they’ve sustained their first major injury and start bleeding Foefire energy.
(edited by Erukk.1408)
Charr are even worse. Their fur would be more flammable than any sylvari.
Didn’t you know? After overthrowing the Flame Legion, the other Legions all added a special flame kittenant shampoo and conditioner treatment regime to their schedule. It’s how they all added that extra body and shiny to their fur coats.
The only real way I could possible see the hatchling leading the Pact is if it turned out to be Glint’s living horcrux. But even then, I would rather see her in an advisor position.
Glint and the Pale Tree were freed of the corruption by the Forgotten, so maybe it’s possible that the corruption is not the natural state of the Elder Dragons.
The Forgotten’s spell didn’t remove or free Glint from Kralk’s corruption. It simply removed Kralk’s direct control over her and gave her free will.
As for the Pale Tree, unless I missed something, we still haven’t gotten exact confirmation on what exactly happened to the seed to give it free will. All we know is that something did happen.
It’s now residing in an ultra exclusive spot in the Wizard’s Tower armory.
Not the first time a writer change his story. Mallyx was supposed to be dead but he is alive and he is not as powerful as Abaddon so there could be a chance he is still around like Mallyx.
Mallyx is dead. The only thing living about him is his legend. Which is the thing the revenants has been summoning for powers.
It would be interesting to say the least if we found out that Razah was meant to be Abaddon’s insurance policy, in the same manner Trahearne was for Mordy, but he wasn’t able to complete the process before we killed him.
Would I want a redemption story for Abaddon though (even if it means them going back on their word that he’s 100% dead as a doornail)? Probably not. I could forgive a lot of things, but basically the destruction of all life on Tyria being one of the consequences of his mad bid for freedom not so much. It would be like forgiving an Elder Dragon after they have spent centuries of trying to kill you for reasons of “just because”.

Scarlet was a comic book super villain, and had access to comic book resources (to this day we don’t know where she got her men and material).
The question of “where” Scarlet got everything she needed has already been answered plenty of times. She got everything by coercing fringe elements of already established organizations. The big question for her has always been “how?”. Unless she got some magical mind mojo powers from ol’ Mordy, her being able to strong arm so many groups into submission, no matter how many OP gadgets she invented, is still slightly unbelievable.
- Metals and Materials: Molten Alliance mining operations in the MFs.
- Toxins: Toxic Alliance, an unknowingly helpful hand from Marjory, and her own experiments.
- Twisted Watchworks and Steam Technology: A mixture between her own creations and hijacking stuff built on her own designs.
- Airships and Holograms: Stolen from the Pact and LA by the Aetherblades, and built and upgraded with help from herself and the Inquest.

Who says that they would not make Forgal and Sieran return for that pvp stuff?
As pointed out by Ehecatl, Forgal and Sieran never really got any additional addition from Anet. Plus, Sieran would be incredibly OP considering it’s canon that she has the ability to fly for short periods of time. She would just fly over all the obstacles.
Too bad they won’t ever do this for Forgal and Sieran. :/
Ya. I never personally understood the deep love some people have for Tybalt. Sure, he was funny, but he wasn’t that funny. All the mentors were all roughly on par in terms of likability for me.
The only way we would be able to without any sort of magic on our side: nukes, atomic bombs, and all the other types of WoDs we can throw at them.
We basically beat Tyria on all fronts when it comes to war, but our weapons, especially the ones that we might need to take out a threat of such a scale, have numerous downsides and horrible after effects that might majorly threaten us in the long run.
They would starve to death because we dont have magic here.
Starvation doesn’t happen instantly. It could take years, decades, or possibly centuries for them to starve themselves to hibernation. Though, the fun side effect of such a thing is Earth gaining magic after that happens, if only to a small or limited degree.

The Exalted were recruited and construction of Tarir began 200 years ago, but I don’t think we were ever given an exact date in which the last Forgotten died. Only that it was sometime between then and now.
I’d agree it might be an oversight, but I don’t think it’s a horribly massive one, especially since we don’t know the average lifespan of a Forgotten.
Eew, thats a pretty catastrophic oversight.
Whats worse, is that she had already changed her name to Glint by the time she died, yet the tablet refers to her as Glaust, and all the Exalted refer to her as Glint as well.
Somebody seriously out-of-touch wrote this.
You have to remember that the speech is being made by a Forgotten and not an Exalted, and as the Forgotten said itself in one of the tablets, “Glaust has been known by many names, and even we do not know her true name. She is called Glint in these modern times and she entrusted us with using her legacy for Tyria.” It’s only after the Forgotten points out that she is now called Glint in the modern age does s/he continue to refer to her as such in the tablets. All the times previously the Forgotten referred to her as Glaust.
I wouldn’t be all that surprised if the Forgotten that did the speech was ancient, and they grew up during an era before Glint adopted her new modern name.
The thought kinda debunks itself if you have to discount one of the Elder Dragons to make the rest of them fit.
Is this really what we’ve come to? We’re eliminating the “fun” aspect of a game in order to accommodate massive grinds? Is this what the holiday season should be about? Hell, nevermind that, games as a whole are meant to be fun, not frustrating. But this Wintersday, all I’ve been met with is a lot of frustration.
Sigh
I think the thing I’m most disappointed about was them removing the points towards the meta achievement doing the holiday dailies gave you. What was the reasoning for that? Not everyone has more free time during the holidays, some of us actually has less, and that was one of the few ways that helped us complete holiday metas we simply don’t have time to finish.
Assuming people do their research (huge assumption though) then buying should always end up cheaper. If the price of collecting becomes cheaper people would eventually shift to doing it that way which will push the price on the TP down over time until it becomes cheaper to buy again.
The current problem is the fact that if you craft all the materials required to craft the precursor but, instead, sell those materials on the TP you will be able to buy the precursor from the TP AND still have made a profit.
This means there’s absolutely no point in crafting the precursor.
There might be no point in crafting them currently, but what’s current doesn’t stay the same forever. As Khisanth pointed out, there might be a time in the future (probably once ascended crafting for raids and the initial flood of precursor crafting goes down) that the scales tip back and crafting becomes the cheaper option for awhile.
Plus, options are always better in the end. Even with the net loss by the end, some people would rather do the slow and steady grind of the crafting over the long haul of just buying it.
I’d imagine he’s is possibly doing clean up, because Zhaitan might be dead, but the Risen are still around mindlessly attacking anything they come across.
Plus, Joko is an immortal lich. So unless the worst happens (devoured by ED or rebound and sealed), he literally has all the time in the world to conquer… well… the world. Unless, of course, he grows bored of the thought of world domination during his immortally and decides to take up something more interesting- competitive Polymock!
We’re left with a big cliffhanger, that will be continued in some months maybe like a few hours passed by, despite having other world events transcurring on normal schedule (Wintersday).
On a related note, just as Orr, now the Maguuma is stuck in its own time bubble. Central Tyria in another, with some time bubbles mixed here and there. It’s starting to become a horrible mess and I can’t even begin to imagine what it’ll be when more updates come.
We did need an epilogue of some kind, but the “zone time bubbles” happen in every MMO. While it would be nice for them to sporadically update areas to match the new timeline, it would be very costly in time, money, and resources to do at any sort of reasonable rate. Especially given the number of areas we have at the moment. Developers just think those resources could be better spend elsewhere.
I’d have to agree.
This achievement has soured the entire holiday for me. Because I know no matter how much I try, I don’t have neither the skills and/or time to be able to finish it at all, and I’m washing my hands of it and just selling all my drinks and presents.
Holidays are suppose to be fun little events that act as downtime between the real content, and gating the holiday items behind huge grindy achievements ruin that fun for a good amount of people. I understand the need for prestige items, and I’m all for them adding more in gated behind raids, hard modes, guild stuff, and group content like triple wurm, but holidays are suppose to be fun and leisurely.
I say keep the requirement. Helps to make the shoulder item a bit more exclusive.
I would be for this if it wasn’t a holiday item. Holidays are suppose to be the breaks we get in between the actual content, and their items are suppose to be fun things everyone can get.
If they want to add more exclusive items, they can feel free to add more stuff behind hard modes, achievements, and raids.
I’d have to agree.
It probably would have been better if they just turned the karma item rewards we use for the collection into tokens. That way we could have chosen which activities best suited us for the shoulder piece, and we could have skipped the one or two we would prefer not to do. Because I’m sure there is a bunch of people that would prefer to skip the drink achievement and just do the JP, and others would do the drinks over the JP.
Mickey Frogeater.1470So it seems that a bunch of Souls can just combine and become an Elder Dragon of Souls is what this guy is implying.
Probably (definitely) not an Elder Dragon of Souls. It’s most likely either a Titan or something similar in nature to them. What with it being an amalgamation of tortured/crazed souls.
I can only think of a maybe several possible key points when writing an Asura.
- A slightly superior attitude when dealing with anyone they might view as beneath them. (Which is easily a good majority of the populace to just about everyone.)
- Referring to said inferior people as “Bookahs” to their face or behind their back.
- And random magi-technobabble that only slightly makes sense in the greater scheme of things.
1) What happens each game there is this enemy something bad happens to drive hero to do something.
2) Go find out who the bad guy is and/or how to beat’em up.
3) Get means to win
4) Go behind enemy lines and exploit weaknesses researched in earlier parts.Post would be huge if i summarized each games plot. The above is what the plot boils down to for the most part every single GW game. Especially the part about going behind enemy line with your elite crew of heroes to eliminate the antagonists. GW plot always solved the same way.
You also just basically described a majority of all stories that use the Hero’s Journey, especially ones where the hero have to go against a superior force. The hero can’t confront the villain’s forces head on, so they have to either sneak behind enemy lines or call them out for single combat to exploit a weakness or use some sort of special move/knowledge/device/whatever.
For example: Star Wars.
- Luke’s aunt and uncle getting killed by storm troopers.
- Learn about the Jedi from Obi-Wan and confronting Vader in the Death Star.
- Training with Yoda in the ways of the Jedi.
- Surrendering to Vader and being brought before the Emperor (behind enemy lines), defeating Vader, and calling out for his “Father” while being tortured (exploit weakness), thus leading to Vader killing the Emperor by throwing down a shaft.
A lot of people here seem to be under the assumption that Anet isn’t going to add anymore HoT masteries points to the game. It is way to early to assume that when we have no idea what sort of rewards s3 of the LS is going to have.
Until we know for sure whether they’re going to be a part of the LS’s achievements or not, please keep the rant-iness in your complaints to a manageable level.
I recall reading a crazed crackpot theory on this forum that Glint let Snaff died so that Snaff’s mind could be stuck within Kralkatorrik’s body and slowly take it over.
Seems a little less crackpot now that one pillar of support for the theory has been confirmed: that Glint knew she would die regardless.
Which would kinda fit into the theory of this entire storyline possibly leading to benevolent Elder Dragons rising to take the place of the predatory ones. We, or Glint, would be able to save a lot of time if, instead of raising a being to take Kralk’s place once he died, we could simply repurpose Kralk himself.
It would be kinda blah if we were to replay Mordy’s mental battle, but if we weakened or destroyed Kralk’s mind and Snaff (or some sort of mental echo he left behind) would be able to exert control and take over his being, we would be left with a benevolent KralkaSnaff at the end.
The titans coming back? It wouldn’t make sense, Abaddon is dead, dead-dead, he’s not coming back. I don’t expect the titans, of which he constructed, would even exist anymore. Guild Wars 1 was big about exterminating the titans because they were very dangerous creatures, at least in the lore, one of the most threatening types of creatures in the game.
Abaddon didn’t actually make the Titans. They were made by twisting tormented souls, and their production in the FoFC was oversaw by The Fury, who while working for Abaddon, and later Mallyx, at that time, was originally a servant of Dhuum.
So, if someone had a very large amount of tormented souls laying around, and the skills needed to manipulate them, anyone could theoretically produce Titans of their own. They were just easy to produce in such large numbers in the FoFC since the Realm of Torment in general has access to such vast amounts of tormented souls floating around.
Considering that the players were behind the cannon fire and leading MoM to the spike (plus the events at the end of HoT’s story), yes we have killed EDs.
Mr. E seems to be more of a investigative character, and with how fast paced the HoT story played out (couple weeks to a month maybe?), his/her big reveal wouldn’t make much sense. It would basically be a, “Oh, here’s who Mr. E really is! Now lets move on to killing Mordremoth again.”
I could see him, his information, and possible reveal popping up again either during the raids or LS again.
