did you claim it in the gem store?
This is the same sort of tax on everything in the trading post. It makes investing more of a risk I guess. Also stops people from profiting too much on small artificial spikes.
I somehow miss 1 trait and everyone is up in arms. Gosh yall. Almost every other light/medium class can maintain swiftness just as well and some have a 10% base speed bonus so engineer isn’t really that special.
Well it isn’t that you missed something. The issue is that someone posted an accurate comment and you replied with a snarky comment, countering it with mis information.
read again, first post I was asking. Second post since everyone nobody was answering, I posted what I thought. I wonder who is posting snarky comments you speak of.

I have about 27g and 4000 gems which I bought in prep of the event.
Gems will go up more than 200% by Christmas but I doubt chest will. Costs 5g to open 10 chests now with gems so you are going to be really disappointed if you think people will open more than the chests they have stored up.
I think you’re slightly overstating the cost of keys. Current gold to gem rate is just under 79 silver per 100. I believe 5 keys cost125 gems, so it would cost approx. 1 gold for 5 keys or 2 gold to open 10 chests.
You are correct that keys will indeed be the bottleneck in this process, and I’m guessing a few people may buy extra keys with gems or gold (even I’m tempted to do this), but it’s going to be hard to guess the extent that this will happen.
My personal feeling (and I could be wrong), is that price of chests is about to experience a “market correction” once the anticipated demand fails to materialise.
5 keys are 450 so 90 gems each. Costs 7 gold for 900 gems so it actually costs 7 gold to open 10 chests.
I doubt pant gloves will be worth much.
there exists a 15% fee to lower the profit of this but people seem to be really really gullible.

1 elixir and crit for swiftness isn’t much.
This is the real reason they gave us so much swiftness.
what swiftness? engineers have a lot less swiftness than most classes.
stack everything into backstab and crit. cloak and dagger. you actually don’t need 1.5s since more people will die in half a second in wvw since they don’t have full exotic tank gear.
you can easily hit 17k from a backstab alone and then just slash the guy to death with your next attack.
maxing out grenades and using frenzy the the best burst you can do. Best to use a rifle if you are doing grenades because you can netshot them and then barrage them. The third skill should elixir gun if you want survivability for condition removal, could also just stack another elixir. the build only relies on 30 explosives and the other points gets pretty evenly divided depending on your play style.
bots follow the Clans which are just server hoping right now since they get to kill easy worlds. The bots just follow them and since the server dominates and they can bot non stop. Bots not only take up space for servers that could use people but also always do the events in the water in worlds where theres not much opposition so its harder for an outmanned server to do much.
Would be love it if I could just team kill them over and over but even if I could, it doesn’t solve the problems.
My vote is on off.
I picked the vigil cause it was a chick advertising it to me.
Performance issue, am i bottlenecked by my CPU?

This game isn’t well optimized. Any cpu will struggle. You CPU is still pretty good.
There is serious optimization issues in this game on AMD systems. Doesn’t matter what AMD cpu you have, an intel cpu with 1/5th the processing power will beat it in this game.
except when it dosnt, check around, the low fps threads and threads related to this issue come from many i5/i7 2500k/2600k/3**0k users with high end videocards as well….this isnt limited to AMD users, it may be more common for amd users, but its far from limited to amd users.
there are also alot of AMD users like myself not suffering from the major performance issues that both amd and intel users have been posting about…..
The i3s have a 30% performance advantage over an overclocked phenom II and i5 and i7s are 50% more. 15 fps for a phenom II is 20 fps for an intel machine, both are laggy but its still not optimized for AMD. A phenom II x4 has more computational power than an pentium but the pentiums will give you better fps. Given the core utilization levels I seen, this game uses 4 cores but not efficiently at all on an AMD machine compared to an intel one.
It was a market rigging that appeared to throw the price/performance in amd’s favour.
Part of the problem, and one i just furthered myself here, is that people were comparing the i7 cores with the Phenom II cores, when they were usually outperformed by a cheaper i5. AMD’s marketting attempted to place the phenom cores in the same tier as the i7’s, which no amount of benchmarking could advocate them as such which only confused the cpu market and rigged the performance / price ratio in amd’s favour
Another problem is many people still buy based on clockrate, which didn’t help those not realising that the phenom II’s were usually beaten to death by the i5’s, while the latter chip often had a lower clock speed.
when the cheaper i7 860 came out, it beat the crap out of the 965 and forced amd do rearrange their pricing
Then the i5 750 launched……
the i5 750 could be had for 150
the phenom II 965 was still well over 200 at the timeNot only does the Core i5-750 outperform its like-priced would-be competitor, the Phenom II X4 955, but it also beats out the Phenom II X4 965 overall.
an article has been written here by someone else, who like me, actually did the numbers.
the i5 750 was never $150. I don’t know where you were looking, the cheap i5 650s were $170 and those were dual core with hyperthreading comparable to the i3s today. The i7 860 is still $300 today.

I think being naked looks very engineerish.
shield is good.
Until you realize you can take mobs down with frenzy and grenades in 10 seconds…
The easiest to get is the dungeon armor if you have people to run dungeons with daily.
The WvW badge armor takes forever.
Karma exotics are also pretty easy to get since if you save up your karma and do lots of events, it doesn’t take that long to get a full set.
you make exotics and make your char more powerful. Then you can do w/e you want.
400 is max so you might as well do another skill.
I find it quite useful every now and then, Usually just for defense in WvW, they are slightly better than grenades by giving up the ability to move.
basically if your class doesn’t use a greatsword then its not as good for the legendaries.
I have yet to find a way to use bombs. But then again I haven’t been trying.
Even tho the rifle isn’t as damaging as grenades, its a superior weapon for engaging any sort of 1v1 fight. kits need better synergy with the weapons, currently the kits overpower the weapons if you want any kind of damage.
rifle doesn’t really scale much better with power. Grenades is about the only thing thats good for a power build.
Isn’t discovering everything still cheaper?
If you just discover all your mithril recipes it will take you up to 380+. Make jewels 3 of each stone and make 1 of each kind of jewelry in discovery is enough.
urtv has it right. Use discoveries & potions up to 390ish, then it only takes a couple of the rare karma recipe items to close the gap.
It is expensive to get the last 10 points, but it was dirt cheap to get the first 390, so I really had no complaints.
There arent “potions” for Jewel crafting. And to the person saying craft stuff till 390, that is horribly inefficient.
Below is the CHEAPEST and most efficient way to get from 375-400 hands down.
(Because everything turns blue/white @ 375, you have to burn through a LOT of resources, to try to make standard green jewelry, which wont pay for itself vs the below method)
Step 1) Get yourself to 375
Step 2) Buy 2 recipes of “Embellished Brilliant Jewel” from the vendor.
- Cheapest to make is usually Sapphire, Emerald, Coral, and Chrysacola.
(If you have specific ones you want, buy those of course!)Each jewel requires 1 ecto, 1 mithril filigree, and 5 crystals.
Each jewelry piece however, requires 3 jewels.Step 3) Craft each one 3 times, which should get you close to 390.
Step 4) Now, make 2 mithril hooks, 2 mithril bands, ankittenhril settings.
Step 5) Now “Discover” your newly made jewels into two bands and two different earings, and if that doesnt get you to 400, buy one more recipe, and repeat with that crystal.
Sell em at TP when your done if you don’t need them!
+1
Most decently priced items are crashing due to bots and just general availability. I wish graphs of item price histories were up for the trading post.
I must say getting killed by a invisible zerg is no fun, especially since I was basically trying to scout. They need to fix this ASAP.

from what I seen, the i5 gets good 60+ fps generally in wvw with drops to 20 fps during large battles.
engineers are slow and not tanky, its a no brainer why things chase you.
precision is more useful because you can stack precision bonuses that also does con damage. But pure conditional damage isn’t great imo.

4 or 6 physical cores are different from a 2 or 4 core with hyperthreading.
Physical cores (eg X6 1090T):
1
2
3
4
5
6Hyperthreaded 6 cores (eg FX6100):
1->4
2->5
3->6Intel’s HT technology is better than AMD’s FX HT technology, for now i3 and i7’s has HT, not sure if the Pentium G series do or not.
thats now how it works on the FX, cores on bulldozers are thus:
1 2
3 4
5 6
7 8
at least under windows 7, I have tested this on my laptop with a 4655m with the first 4 cores. Since the game uses 4 threads, I can’t set affinity for my computer with only 2 modules. Anyways the modules are much more efficient than intel’s hyperthreading, there is just not very good software support for it.
I find the 2 pistol offhand skills not useful enough. Much better to go with shield and pistol imo.
Its a really hard skill to use due to the timing and the fact that you are giving up a valuable skill slow.

Im not sure what people are arguing about but this game doesn’t run well on AMD systems and its clearly obvious its not because the AMD cpus lack processing power as the lowest end intel chips with 2 core beat out the highest end AMD chips with 6 cores (Im not even going to count bulldozer). The game is made to utilize more than 2 cores but AMD performance is abysmal compared to intel.
The game ran like crap in the beta on all machines, magically about BWE3, all the intel machines got massive jumps in performance and the AMD machines got a relatively tiny one. Its clearly an optimizing issue with the game and the developers are keeping quiet about it. I feel like the developers are just being lazy because they already have your money and AMD only accounts to 20% of the PC market.
This is a rather large problem because a large number of players already own AMD computers and are not going to spend at least $300 upgrading just to play this game better when their hardware should be sufficient. I’d love to have this problem be addressed since the game should run much better than it does for people and its quite bad that software is left so unrefined for a large portion of its users.
have tried different drivers? I have no problem with my 6850.
try running some software like GPU-z and looking at the graphs when you enter pvp.
Grenades are the only thing keeping engineers viable for me. The class with only 2 weapons but neither of them work all that well…
Grenades are good. I don’t like grenades. Everything else is much worse than grenades. I feel like engineer needs something else.
If you pick up a turret with wrench kit on, you should be able to instantly place it. you should do much more healing to the turrets with the wrench, theres no way to keep them alive and they don’t even do much damage… Skill on wrench to buff a turret would also be nice.
The wrench does good dps but who is going to go melee with an engineer?
am I the only one who feels like Im too slow to keep the conditions on people? I basically need the elixir that gives me swift if I want to hit anyone running away. I also can’t deal with people tanking the conditions and just dps me down very well. I really haven’t used the shield much but is that what I need?
I find both pistols and rifles to be less powerful than grenades. Engineer survivability is too low. You either max out damage and throw grenades or support.
Engineer’s elite skills need a look at, there isn’t really a point of using anything except supply drop, or hounds if in PvE. supply drops aren’t exactly game changing compared to some of the elite skills of the other classes. Basically forces engineers to be support.
The rifle would be fine if we had an elite skill that does well vs glass cannons since we die so fast if we fight other classes built for dps. Only way to counter a glass cannon now is to knock them down and try to grenade them to death which is just really really stupid cause I actually do not enjoy the grenade skill at all.
I love the control the rifle gets but engineers are way too squishy for and half our skills are useless it seems.
I run rifle with a balance setup in WvW, support with this is great and its almost a sure win when you fight anything melee. Personally I find pistols almost useless in WvW because there are better classes with dps and conditions. Just can’t seem to use them well.
The rifle skills are fine for the engineer except for the jump shot, which I never use unless Im fighting a thieve or something I locked with net shot. Its just not useful enough. Its good for jumping puzzles tho.
